Donna’s Cosmetic Artist

Everyone in Hawai’i knows that Donna Reed is the most excellent permanent cosmetic artist extraordinaire! My mother had her eyebrows done over 30 years ago by Donna and only had them touched up once. I have met many people who also have had Donna’s magic touch on their eyebrows and eyelids, and they proudly state her work has lasted all these years without any further touch up. That is remarkable and so cost-​effective! By the way, Donna’s prices are very affordable, having priced other Honolulu cosmetic artists.

I recently went to Donna to have my eyebrows tattooed and they are now stunning!!! She followed my natural brow shape and enhanced it by evening out the other side that didn’t have as much hair. Now i have tails at the end of my brows where formerly there were none! There have been nothing but super compliments about how great my brows look now, and i am thrilled to finally look more polished and yet retain that natural look. I feel more confident about how i look now, thanks to Donna.
Donna, you ROCK!!! You made me feel like a long-​time friend instantly and I will always love you. By the way, I’ll be back to have my eyeliner done!

I had no eyebrows; had to draw my own. Some days was skinny some days look like Groucho Marx. At one time my brows were good, but this last month becuz I only had a little hair toward the center of each brow I plucked them all out so I could draw better to no avail. I’ve used almost the whole box of q-​tips in the last 3 months trying to shape the drawing which would diappear with one swipe of a cloth on hot day of sweat.
Then along came Donna Reed on her white horse to save me by drawing me the most beautiful set of eyebrows I’ve ever seen. It saves me 45 minutes very day and I absolutely love them. They are perfect on each side just the thickness I’d like. I still have to go for my touch up but I truly trusted my face to Donna’s magical hands to do the magic she did on my eyebrows. I truly love them to death.

I simply can’t imagine it gets any better than Donna’s work. She is a true artist, and one of the sweetest, most likable people I have ever met. She was very careful to explain the process, show me the equipment and work with me to get the look I wanted.
Today Donna did my eyebrows. I was nervous about how the tattoo would look right after — would it be too dark; would I be swollen? But immediately after my eyebrows looked perfect — perfect!
Donna is wonderful at what she does. She is meticulous in her work, extremely kind and very professional. I highly recommend her!!!

I did my eyebrows and lower eyelids by Donna over 30 years ago — perfect shape and lasted a longggggg time. Went for a retouch a few days ago and am amazed how great her work still is. I’ve recommended many friends, relatives and business associates in the past and would sincerely recommend any one who is looking for the best in the Hawaii. I don’t ever write reviews on Unilocal.In fact, this is my first review ever because I really like Donna’s work and had to make sure I put it out there.
I initially had my brows tattooed 11 years ago by Donna. My tattoo was so perfect and lasted 8 years.
I had Face It retouch my brows last year and I was very unhappy with the retouch. I had to go back to have the artist redo it but it got worse.
I decided to wait a while before I go back to Donna. Well, I had Donna retouch my brows this past weekend and she did an incredible job on retouching and correcting the work done by Face It!
I’m very picky when it comes to my brows and Donna by far is the expert in permanent face art!!! Thank you Donna for your services and your superior customer service!!!

There are no words to describe how truly grateful I am for the work Donna did on my eyebrows. For a long time I felt insecure with the shape and the fact that I had no tail at the end. As soon as I walked in, she made me feel comfortable and welcomed. (side note– I was so nervous. She calmed me down and offered me all these delicious homemade goodies. She couldn’t have been sweeter!) She put numbing medicine on my eyebrows and it was not painful at all! Just felt like someone tapping my skin. She drew the shape to make sure I liked it — she worded collaboratively with me the entire time. When I looked in the mirror when she finished, my eyebrows looked incredible! 9 years later and they still looked beautiful! In fact, they look so natural that people are shocked when I reveal they are tattooed. Best part– I have not needed any touch ups!
Donna is a true artist and the real deal! Her work speaks for itself! She is passionate about what she does and you see it in her work. Thank you Donna!!!

If there was a Lower rating than 1 star, I would give her minus stars. Donna Reed is an Asian woman who tattooed my eyes and did a horrible job. Both my upper and lower eyeliners are so thick and black. As it ages it bleeds dark blue like a bruised color. While she tattooed my eyes she was constantly on her cell phone talking and just tapping away with an old fashioned method of some kind of stick with needle at the end. My eyes were so swollen, almost completely shut. She never showed me how I looked with a mirror and I could see why. My husband was so shocked when he picked me up. After a year another tattoo makeup specialist tried to add a lighter flesh color to reduce the effect but that did not work. Two years ago a professional make up artist taught me how to camouflage the dark black blue tattoo with colored pencil eyeliner. My effort to have a permanent eyeliner to reduce time spent applying eye makeup has turned into more time and more makeup than I originally used on my eyes before this horrible eye tattoo!

In having a conversation with a friend about cosmetic tattoos, I told her I had mine done by Donna Reed many years ago. She was so surprised because she never realized that my eyebrows were tattooed. She said mine looks so natural, the best of any she’s ever seen. This was not the first time that someone told me this, that they didn’t realize my brows were tattooed. I had mine done by Donna in 2000, so it’s been nearly 14 years and it still looks very good. Prior to having my brows tattooed, my natural eyebrows had no definition and did nothing for my eyes. I recall that Donna was professional and I recommend her, based my tried and true personal experience.

Eyebrow tattoo with the slightest bit of pain and looks great! Took about an hour and a half but it is perfect. She did my mom’s about 10 years ago and all it needs is a touch up. Great service from her too!

Donna tattooed my eyebrows on 4÷27÷13. She did a wonderful job!

Donna took a phone call while tattooing my eyes using an earpiece. I think this is why one side’s eyeliner is thicker and a little crooked. I felt the poke lower than I thought it should be but I couldn’t tell at the time since my eye lids where really swollen after. She also decided to make wings on my upper eye liner, which I did not ask for. Donna also tattooed too far in to the corner of my eyes and partly on the waterline. Now I have blobs in the corner of both eyes and since it’s partly on the waterline, it is shinier than the rest of the black liner. And I agree with another reviewer, Donna is not very nice if you call back with a problem regarding the tattoos. She is very rude and told me that it was fine when you left her place. It’s hard to see the final results when your eyelids are swollen. I would not recommend this place. Because the blobs in the corner of my eyes are noticeable, I’m really thinking of seeing if I can get it removed.

I went to Donna to have eyeliner tattoo in 1998. I liked it so much I returned the following week to have my eyebrows done. Before i had the tattoos, I would look at myself in the mirror without makeup and say, «ugh»! After Donna, I would see myself in the mirror and say, «not bad». Fourteen years later my tattoos still look great. I had no regrets patronizing Donna.

Donna, the person I went to was named Donna Reed. She was an Asian and looked suspiciously like your picture that you posted with a bio on yourself. How can there be TWO Donna Reeds practicing in the same vicinity doing cosmetic tattoos? Or if you said you were out of the country at the time, who was the Donna Reed that did my tattoo? She looked an AWFUL LOT LIKE YOU?!

I am upgrading my score after a long time to consider your business. Look, you and I may have our differences but for 30 plus years, your eye tattoos are remarkably clean and beautiful. So I am giving you another star because the results speak for themselves
It could be that you and I just have a real difference in personalities and rather than hurt your business I want to stress that your artistry is remarkable. Would I go to you again? No, because the pain was really bad.
But maybe all eye tattoos are painful to get, I have nothing to compare it with. I am also removing my first post which in review, seems insensitive and unappreciative for the beautiful job you did. Part of my review to caution others about the fact that I still feel you may be difficult to work with but as I have said, the results are long lasting and as wonderful as the day I received them. I hope this helps to heal if you have been wronged by me and I also wish you much continued success.

I think my review of you wasn’t necessarily a bad one. After all, I am living with these eye tattoos now for over 20 years and I never went back to you with complaints. But you are heavy with the ink and my opinion helps clients decide if they want a thicker kind of eyeliner and skinny brow.
I referred a friend to you because she liked my eyes and you made hundreds of dollars in further business because of me.
Your business name has changed. I originally reviewed you as Donna’s Tattoos, your original name. In your defense I will say that you may very well have changed your tools and methods but obviously from other comments, you are still a moody person when people are not satisfied.
When you want to correct a review or contact customers to defend yourself I think that’s fine. But you have to be credible with your remarks and above all, honest.

Donna was very professional and did great work for me! I would recommend her to anyone looking for permanent makeup. She’s very nice and friendly to work with

— Re: owners comment — I know for sure it was you. I walked by the Ross in downtown up the stairs to your office. My tattoo is very reminiscent of the previous girls comment. My eyeliner is too thick and my eyebrows were too thin. Thank god Kathy fixed my eyebrows. My eyeliner covers my entire eye and because I have small Asian eyelids it looks ugly. I wouldn’t ever call because if that’s the result I got on my first time I wouldn’t trust anything else.

Donna did my eyeliner 19 Years ago and I have never been touched up. I am so afraid of needles but, Donna was able to make my eyes look fabulous. She gave me great advice of post tattoo care after she was done I never needed and ice since I had no swelling. I recently went to a Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills and people were noticing my eyeliner and eye brow (Donna 10 yrs ago) and said WOW where did you get that done. I said Hawaii and this Plastic Surgeon says must be DONNA… I said how do you know he said only her work is very natural, flattering and exquisite. Needless to say on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills I was feeling like a million dollars Thanks to DONNA…

Great with my experience, no complaints at all.
