Frosted

I hired Frosted to make my wedding cake and cupcakes. I am so happy that I did. Melissa was so easy to work with, nice and professional. She helped me with my vision on how I wanted my cake and my cupcakes. I decided on having a two tier cake on top and to have mini cupcakes to pass out to my guest. Everyone loved the cupcakes and I was in love with how everything looked. I highly recommend Frosted for any special event.

ordered a cake for my daughters first birthday an absolute minnie mouse lover! the cake couldnt have been more perfect. it was three little tiers that were simply amazing and more than what i had pictured in my head for her birthday. everyone at the party was simply amazed and it was the talk of the party. the bottom tier had polka dots, the middle tier was higher with hot pink and white polka dots, and the top tier had a minnie mouse ear head with her name in fondant and number one and said happy birthday. it even tasted delicious! i would recommend frosted hawaii to anyone and shes much more reasonable than any other specialty cake maker!

We hired Frosted to make the cake for Sept. 2011 wedding and had such a great experience working with Melissa, the owner of the company. We ordered mini cupcakes in two flavors (vanilla and almond) and a round cake placed on top of the cupcake tier for cutting. Not only did the cake look pretty, it tasted so moist and delicious! I especially loved the almond-​flavored cake. Yum!
Melissa’s professionalism and responsiveness impressed me right from the beginning. She is always on time and organized. Her work is beautiful, and she has an amazing attention to detail. I definitely plan on hiring Frosted for other special occasion cakes in the future.

Melissa provided an AWESOME grooms cake for my wedding. The grooms cake was a surprise to my husband and she did a wonderful job of providing a cake that reflected his favorite food. She made a hamburger and potato wedges with a giant jack in the box head and also cupcakes that went along side the cake with miniature burgers on them. Melissa was always quick to respond to my emails. Her cake definitely was definitely more popular than our own wedding cake provided by the hotel. Hopefully I’ll have a chance to order another cake from her again!

Melissa is great! Considering she works full-​time at her regular job, AND does Frosted on the side, she is helping us with our penguin-​themed cake. We have sampled several cupcake flavors from FreshCafe (sadly, they are not available there at the moment), and although the red velvet is okay, I fell in love with the banana flavor! She was really good at meeting with us and sharing ideas about cake design… as complicated as we can be sometimes! She listened to all our ideas and was honest with us about which ones just weren’t feasible or wouldn’t be the best idea… for example, the coconut cupcake was delicious but wouldn’t be strong enough to hold up all the layers of cake and decorations, etc. Want to put up 5 stars, but can’t wait till my November wedding when I can see and taste the final result! I’m sure by then I will want to give her six stars!

Wow, I don’t know if I got ripped off and she just made everyone else’s cakes & cupcakes fabulous but mines was FAR from it. I’ve never given any place such a low rating on Unilocal so you know that this is pretty bad.
First of all, the reason why I decided to order from her was because we had a mutual friend and I had heard about her cupcakes from our mutual friend. So I thought she would be reliable plus I had seen her other reviews on Unilocal and it seemed like she did an outstanding job on her cupcakes & cakes. I also had another friend of mine order cupcakes from her before for her mom’s birthday. She told me they were good but to be warned. they were a bit pricey.
So I last min I decided to contact Melissa a couple weeks before my birthday and she said she was able to do it even though it was such a short notice. I was ecstatic and really looking forward to my Hello Kitty cupcakes that I requested. Now I know cupcakes are typically expensive but I was a little surprised at how much she was charging me to have a hello kitty design on my cupcake. I wanted 25 cupcakes but to have all 25 of them have a design it would of been like $ 100 something. So she suggested I do half Hello Kitty and half just regular frosting. The total would come out to $ 93 which to me was a still a bit over priced for me but I thought why not, this is my 25^th birthday and I wanted to go big. I assumed with the price I was paying I would get like this elaborate Hello Kitty design that would be different from if I were to order cupcakes from just the supermarket. Boy was I wrong.
So she delivered the cupcakes to the destination of my party. The one good thing was that she was on time. I was running a little late but she was nice about waiting at the place until I got there. When I finally arrived, I didn’t get a chance to look at the cupcakes cause I was in a rush to get to my own party. But as soon as I opened the box when I got to the restaurant, I was in shock at how unoriginal the cupcake looked. It pretty much just had a little bit of frosting and then a Hello Kitty face on it that didn’t even look like the real Hello Kitty. It looked like those fake generic Hello Kittys you see they sell in China town. I think the cutest thing on it was probably the bow but that was it. The other 12 cupcakes was just regular red velvet cupcakes with a little bit of pink frosting. I was so disappointed especially since I looked forward to having cute decorative cupcakes. To me, they looked more like just homemade cupcakes that I could of made myself. Sad to say, even my friend at my birthday said that I should of asked her cause she could of made better ones.
Maybe it was my fault for not being so descriptive with her but I really felt that she was creative enough to think of something herself plus I had given her a few sample pictures of HK cupcakes that I thought were cute.
Taste wise… another let down. I was hoping that because my cupcakes didn’t turn out as cute as I wanted, maybe the taste would out way the appearance. Wrong again. The red velvet that I ordered wasn’t anything spectacular. They were just okay. I prefer Hokulani’s or Cake Couture over this one.
I really don’t think I’m being overly dramatic although it may seem like it. But having $ 93 go down the drain is not something I was very thrilled about. well technically it was my mom’s $ 93 but even she wasn’t impressed with her cupcakes.
The sad thing is normally I’d want to take the left over cupcakes home with me, but since these weren’t that great, I just left them at the restaurant. If I knew they were going to turn out like these, I would of just asked my friend to bake cupcakes for me since she likes to bake.
I guess it’s a lesson learned and I know now to be extra cautious where I order from and to taste them ahead of time.
The plus side of this is that I emailed Melissa about how I wasn’t happy about the cupcakes and she emailed me back saying she would give me partial reimbursement and that she takes my comment into consideration.
I’m sure everyone else who gave her 5 stars had great fabulous cupcakes but unfortunately for me, that didn’t happen.
I think next time I’ll stick with Hokulani.

Melissa, of Frosted, is absolutely amazing! I was planning a destination wedding in Hawaii from San Diego and she is the first vendor I got in contact with. It is not an easy task planning a wedding thousands of miles away, but Melissa made the cake planning process a breeze. I am somewhat of a perfectionist, but after the first email, I was confident Melissa was the perfect choice for my wedding cake. She led me through the process professionally and very efficiently. She came up with the most beautiful design and suggested some flavors since I would not be able to taste them until the big day. We decided to use some fresh flowers and with a glitch at the florist, she was forced to imrpovise at the last minute. Upon arrival at our reception, everyone LOVED the cake. It was my favorite part of the entire wedding. Aside from the beauty of the cake, it was SOOO delicious. We had ordered a large cake in relation to the number of the guests at the wedding, but we barely had any left-​overs because everyone had second helpings.
If you are considering Frosted for your wedding cake you will not be disappointed. Actually, don’t just consider Frosted, hire them!

The wedding cake we ordered from Melissa at Frosted was simply just divine! I love dark chocolate, and it couldn’t have been richer or more delicious. And paired with a butter cream frosting – to die for. All of our guests who had it just loved it! Melissa was also awesome to work with; a very good listener and very accommodating. Can’t wait to eat the rest of it at our one-​year anniversary! Thanks, Melissa!

I was lucky enough to have a Frosted cake for my graduation party this past summer. Frosted has many different flavors to choose from, including my favorite the mint chocolate ganache. The owner is very hands-​on and involved in the whole process of the business from start to finish including communicating with you, the customer as well as the baking itself. It is truly decadent cake, and the thing that sets it apart from other cupcake companies is that it is consistently moist, delicious, and always beautiful. Almost too beautiful to eat.

I ordered my wedding cake from Frosted because, after looking at some of their previous cake designs, and after speaking to Melissa, I was impressed by the originality of her designs, and her willingness and ability to help us create exactly what we wanted for our wedding. Our cake was a 3 tiered chocolate cake covered in chocolate fondant and pink edible flowers. Not the traditional, but Melissa was more than happy to accommodate us. She was extremely easy to work with and knowledgeable about different materials/​flavors and designs that we could use. The cake was delivered and set up on time to the hotel, with no problems. It looked fantastic, and was EXACTLY what we had wanted. Not only this, but it was absolutely delicious.
Overall, I would recommend Frosted to anyone who wants a unique, beautiful, affordable, and tasty cake, and also to anyone who wants a stress free ordering experience!

I just found out the name of this great little bake shop after trying some of their cupcakes at Fresh Café. I normally don’t buy desserts, but they looked so good sitting under their glass dome that I had to buy one. Wow, were they good, very impressive! They were well made with just the right amount of sweetness and buttery texture.
I have not tried any other desserts that Frosted bakes so this review is only for their cupcakes. However, if they are any indication as to what the rest of their desserts are going to taste like things are looking up. Well Done…

I ordered a birthday cake for my grandfather’s 80^th birthday. We requested a salmon cake, thinking that it would be a round cake with a salmon cut-​out on top… but to our surprise it turned out to be a salmon shaped cake — scales and all! Everyone was really impressed by the appearance, as well as the flavor (red velvet)! I’ve also gotten to try some of Frosted’s cupcake flavors — some of my favorites are: apple with vanilla frosting, banana with chocolate ganache and chocolate with mint chocolate ganache. I will be ordering all my future custom cakes and cupcakes from Frosted!

I have tried several of their cakes and cupcakes and am truly impressed by their taste as well as their appearance! They are also very affordable and provide excellent customer service. I definitely recommend their services to everyone and look forward to ordering from them for all of my future events! –Valerie Penor
