Island Therapy

I went to ER because of excruciating pain in my neck, head, all left side of my back. Found out it was muscle spasm in my neck. They gave me pain medication and nothing else. Once the pain meds wore off, the pain came back with vengeance.
I asked for Debbie at Island Theraphy. I waited an hour and a half for her, but boy was it worth the wait. She really took out all the knots all over my shoulders and in my neck, and she still spent enough time within the hour to massage my whole body. I want to go back to her every week! :) :) :) Thank you, Debbie! My body feels much better and I do not need to take any more meds!

These ladies were amazing! My husband and I were in Oahu for our honeymoon and wanted a couples massage to spoil ourselves. These ladies not only fit us in on the same day we called, but worked out so many of our knots and tightened muscles we felt incredible when we left. We wish you ladies had a shop near us so we could visit you more frequently! We are already planning on returning to the island at some point and this place is definitely on our to do list

Words cannot describe how wonderful this place is. Very professional, very informative and all around a very relaxing place. My spouse and I were greeted with smiles upon arrival. We were offered water and filled out a piece of paper pretty much letting them know where we wanted to focus and the pressure we would like to receive. The rooms are dark, cool, and relaxing. Overall a 5 star experience for a massage. There’s a reason this place is number one. Remember, this is NOT a spa, but a fabulous place to get a massage. I feel like a new woman.

Debbie is the best. Very attentive to my needs. I go to her regularly. Her hands are strong and she has a history of having the same kind of problems and knows how to work them out. Neck and shoulder pain, Bam! Healed! I’ve been to plenty massage places on the island but this place is my favorite! Not super expensive and can normally fit me in on ashore notice.

Went here a few times with my bf. No problems… the massages were good. It’s not super fancy but it’s a decent price.

I was in an auto accident and needed to find someone who takes no-​fault, and fast — I was in pain! I checked my trusty Unilocal app and right there on top was Island Therapy. I called and she got my in pretty much immediately — like later that same day. She works with your adjustor directly to take care of the paperwork and all you need to do is show up, and have her work out the kinks.
She has strong hands and can really break up the knots you have in your neck, back and shoulders. WONDERFUL.

I just had a terrible 2 hour massage here. Lots of thumbs, poking, rubbing on bone, but no real tissue work. It was awful. Also, pretty much every single move this woman made hurt. I’d be careful.

Just had a massage with Neva and she has the strongest hands ever! Completely relaxed all my knots, I feel super relaxed right now:) thank you so much.

I just had THE most effective, wonderful massage ever by Debbie! It was my third time here and my third massage therapist. I’ve had Darilyn and Nieva who were also both amazing. I love how each therapist has their individual strengths and no massage is the same. But today I came in with chronic pain in my back, neck and shoulders and I needed someone with super strength to battle these knots. Debbie gave me the strongest pressure I’ve ever had (I was sweating but it hurt so good!) and I could literally feel the knot that I’ve had in my right shoulder blade for YEARS, start to melt. She showed me which spots on my body are lacking circulation and building up blood (explains why my right hand is always numb when I wake up and why I have lower back pain) and showed me how to stretch and massage certain spots myself for maintenance. She even gave me tips on how to sleep better so that I don’t cause myself any more problems. I was pleasantly surprised because she is a tiny little thing but boy does her touch pack a whooping punch of awesomeness!!! :)
Thank you so much Debbie, Nieva, Darilyn, Maria and all of the other staff at Island Therapy. Seriously THE BEST MASSAGE THERAPISTS EVER. I would recommend anyone to come here if you want a deep-​down-​to-​knot massage that will actually relieve your pain (not one of those frilly pamper light touch massages that are useless).

My first time here and had a fantastic massage by Neva. I had no aches or pains to really complain about, and was feeling pretty good but the massage relaxed and energized me all at the same time! Thank you Neva and Island Therapy!

My first time there and it won’t be the last… Maria gave me an awesome massage it was sore, but a good kinda sore I wish I could get a massage everyday.

2 stars for the actual massage and an additional star because they were professional and no BS. The massage felt more like a heavy oil rub down than what I had hoped for– I had wanted a massage to get rid of as much tightness and as many knots as possible. I probably should have voiced that ahead of time to be fair. The experience was nonetheless relaxing, clean, and enjoyable.

Just had a 90 minute massage from Debbie. It was so good and she is so strong. I highly recommend a massage from her.

My favorite way to distress and get my body feeling limber again is with massage! I currently have 3 places in my rotation and get two massages per month.
I love this place because you can follow their link via Unilocal to make an appointment and the owner confirms your request pretty fast. I see Debbie here. When I first met her, I wasn’t sure. She is older and small, but she proved me wrong. Now, I am going back to see her a second time! Only request her if you like a heavy-​duty massage because she is strong! I’m sure that she can be lighter if you request it though, of course. She used a deep Shiatsu technique to get the knots out of my shoulders. I needed it badly.
Anyway– I am excited to go back and see her today!

Thank you Maria for scheduling me in with Nieve. I have been travelling with my wife for nearly 8 weeks and my lack of stretching and proper exercise had resulted in my thoracic spine giving me so much grief I was having trouble sleeping.
Nieve told me she’s known for thumbs of steel and it was exactly what my upper body required. Don’t get me wrong you specify the pressure you would like on a form before you get underway and are asked regularly if the pressure is ok. I would go as far to say this was the best massage I’ve ever had. The attention to detail and thoroughness was astounding and Nieve is such a lovely person. I wish her well in her medical studies.

Scheduled me immediately. Very strong hands on this little lady. Very attentive and knew more of what I needed then I did. She fixed me right up! For sure I will be back!

Was long overdue for a massage and saw this place on Unilocal.After reading the reviews, I scheduled a couple’s massage for my husband and I. Debbie and Sandi worked their magic and we walked out of there feeling AWESOME! This was our first time here, but definitely won’t be our last.

After my hit or miss cheap massage school closed down, I was on the hunt for a decent priced massage. Unilocal lead me Island Therapy. I was able to get a massage on a couple hours notice for the same day. My appointment was with Debbie. All the reviews that say she is strong are right!!! I usually take a firm pressure and she did not disappoint! She has a very intuitive touch and was able to hone in on the spots that needed work. She talked me through the calf and sciatic massage which is sometimes painful because I am so tight and even took the time to show me a couple of stretches afterwards. It almost felt like a physical therapy appointment, which was exactly what I needed. I am so happy to have found someone that has the skill to do the body work I need! I felt so good afterwards, I will definitely be back to see her! Mahalo Debbie!

I found this place on Unilocal while looking for a massage that I didn’t have to book a long while ahead of time. I booked this place yesterday and got in for a couples massage today. The women were very sweet and gave great massages. Definitely a great place to go and would highly recommend them again

This place is worthy of it’s perfect five star reputation. I’m a therapist myself and it’s very hard to find places like this. My session was with Debbie. You get a real deep tissue if you ask for it. The owner was accommodating and lovely to talk to. Absolutely a five star experience.

It’s been 2 years that my husband and I have been getting massages from Maria, and we always look forward to our next appointment. It’s such a treat to get a relaxing, effective, efficient massage each time we visit. She knows all the right pressure points, applies just the right amount of pressure, and really works on areas that need extra help. We appreciate the straightforward atmosphere instead of a dressed up spa that overcharges you to supplement their décor budget.
Maria has also massaged me through one pregnancy and hopefully another! She is the real deal.

I love this place because you can usually get a decent massage at a moment’s notice. I love the hours and the proximity to my place and ease of parking. Maria is great and I can see why people ask for her on a regular basis!
The therapists seems to be a bit hit or miss after that. I’ve worked with another pretty good therapist and one that was AWFUL. She climbed on top of me without asking, argued with me about what type of massage I wanted, and jerked my limbs around when I let her know I had herniated discs and needed a little care taken. She also talked to me about inappropriate subjects like my relationship status and her sex life. Ick. I’m pretty introverted with new people so I didn’t feel like I could speak up.
The place is a little funky and sometimes it’s too cold (just sheets on the massage table). I also feel like they tend to focus mostly on backs and miss out on other areas (my quads have definitely gotten short shrift and I’m a runner/​swimmer and need work on them!). I know that’s my thing to raise, but I haven’t gotten comfortable enough yet to voice that.
I do plan to go back and hope to get more good massages. Mahalo!

So let’s start out with the obvious; this is NOT A SPA or fancy place by any stretch of the imagination. The location alone can make you not get out of your car and drive away… BUT DON’T! Get out of the car, walk around the back and up the stairs and be prepared for some serious body work.
The BF and I had just spent 4 days powering on packing and cleaning my ⁴⁄₃ home for a move to Kailua-​Kona from Oahu. We never thought we would hurt in so many places by doing the work ourselves. By day 5, I could no longer listen to his moaning and groaning so I decided to find us a place for a massage.
After reading several reviews about this place and seeing that they were voted Hawaii’s best in 2014, I decided to give them a call. I got a voicemail that prompted me to leave my number and desired service, which I did. Shortly thereafter, I received a text message stating they could get us in that afternoon and provide a couples massage.
The BF was in way worse condition than me so Darilyn decided to take pity upon his pitiful self and said, «you, come with me». I had Debbie as my therapist. 90 minutes later, we were both new humans and could actually function like a normal human being. The BEST part is the fact that the BF was no longer moaning and groaning. Thank you Darilyn!!! His whining was about to be the death of me but Darilyn saved me!
I highly recommend this place and both of these therapists. They’re very professional and seriously good at what they do. Darilyn took the time to find out what our expectations and needs were prior to the massage, which isn’t always the case when you get a «consultation» before your service.
Many thanks to those ladies. The worst part about writing this review is knowing they are located on Oahu and now we’re on the Big Island. We would be regulars there if we were still living over there. Now, we’ll just have to make it a point to book an appointment the next time we visit Oahu.
Lastly, the prices are soooooo reasonable for the service you get. If you have pain in your body, call this place and get healed!

This was my last day in Honolulu and I had wanted to get a massage. I checked Unilocal and saw that this place had a high rating so I decided to call and give this place a try. They managed to squeeze me in about an hour from the time I had made my appointment. A good deal too at $ 65/​hour.
My therapist was Nieva and she was quite strong. I like my massages firm and requested a male therapist if available but Nieva gave the nice, firm pressure that I like. She was also very friendly and welcoming when I checked in.
I have nothing really bad to say about the massage. The rooms were a little on the small side but adequate. The massage studio itself was also a bit small and in the back of a building. I guess I’m just spoiled since I myself work in a spa with a larger footprint and larger massage room. Well worth $ 65.

Believe what you read in these reviews. The staff at this place know how to please. I am so happy I chose to call after checking out Unilocal.I set up a couple’s massage for my husband and I, we were given an appointment only two hours later. The communication was via text and details were accurate.
The room was quickly adapted to fit a second bed and we were getting massaged less than 3 hours after our initial call.
We loved our treatments, the room was a comfortable temperature and when we were finished we felt equally awesome and relaxed. Job well done by both therapists. Debbie & Darilyn thanks!

I’m a powerlifter, so regular sports massages are a must for me. I’ve received amazing massages from Dari Lyn and David. Both of them really get all of the knots out and apply just the right amount of pressure. If I could get a massage every month, I would, but I try to go at least every 2 – 3 months.
Maria gets back to you very quickly if you book an appointment through their website. Their appointment availabilities tend to be pretty good, though I try to schedule a week out in advance.
It’s a small studio, but very clean and it smells wonderful.

Another amazing massage at Island Therapy today! Maria is so great about setting up appointments! She gets back to you very quickly, tries her best to accommodate your time (has for me every time), sets you up with the right therapist, and sends a reminder via email! It could not be easier to make an appointment.
Today, Debbie was my therapist. She is amazing! A very, very strong lady… That’s exactly how I like my massages! She has a super sweet and caring personality which immediately made me feel comfortable. She knowledgeably found my knots and worked them out.
I feel good right now and I know in a few days, I’m going to feel amazing! If you want great service and a great massage, this is your place!

I had a migraine the other day due to too much stress & muscle tightness, so Unilocal came to the rescue when I went looking for some trigger point therapy. I went to Island Therapy’s website, using it to request an appointment, and quickly received an email offering a 2pm appointment – perfect. After I confirmed it, I received a text with address and parking instructions, all of which were spot on.
The studio is small but very pleasant and spotlessly clean, including the restroom. A very nice lady, Debbie, was my therapist and she greeted me promptly at 1:45, as requested. She asked the right questions, feeling my back as she went before I proceeded to the massage room.
The room was very nice; AC cooled, super dark, quiet but with pleasing music. Debbie got to work and was very sensitive to my reaction to her pressure, asking me if I was okay and telling me to let her know if anything hurt – she quickly dialed in on my needs. I decided to be a bit more brave than usual, asking her to go a bit harder to work the knots out of my back. It hurt in a good way, and my muscles and head are much better for the session. I’ll definitely be back to Debbie & Island Therapy.

Jan must be amazing. I went home feeling like a million bucks, slept for 10 hours, got up and drank a couple gallons of water the next day. The spa location is a bit odd but trust the reviews.
When booking they got right back to me. I got a follow up call the next day to see how my experience was. Excellent customer service, super professional, and most importantly great hands.

Been here twice and I’ve always had a massage with Maria. It has always been awesome! It hurts real good. She worked patiently with the knots on my shoulders and helped ease the tensed muscles on my legs.
Scheduling for appointment is so handy as well. You could do it online or by phone and they do respond very quickly.

This review is so long overdue! I’ve been coming to this place for about a year or so. This is the best place to get a massage on the island! They even won Hawaii’s best massage last year! Maria and staff are excellent! They are all knowledgeable on how to best help loosen knots in your problem areas!
They do their best to check in with you, make sure the pressure is ok (more or less), if the AC temperature is not too cold. This is not your average feel good massage, but you do feel sooooo good after it’s over. I’m a «hurt-​me-​so-​good» kinda girl, but it’s worth it in the end.
Parking is limited in the front, as they are above a church. Come early, come late, there’s usually something available. They have a range of times that they are open. One of the selling points to me, they are open LATE! Perfect for those 8 – 5, M-​F jobs. Also open till 9 on SUNDAYS (where else can you find that?!) Check out the website for exact times.
I absolutely love that Maria is available and up to date with technology. You can book an appointment online (even pay online before you come in) email, phone or if you’re like me, just text her. She doesn’t always respond right away (probably because she’s in a session with a client) but, does respond within a couple hours.
Prices are very reasonable. They accept Visa/​MasterCard and cash. Do your body a favor, go down, and feel better! :)

I took heed of all the wonderful reviews and gave this place a try. I am glad I did. It was a great experience starting from booking the appointment all the way to receiving my masage. I filled out the reservation form online and heard back immediately even though I wanted to book an appointment the next day! I was able to do so without even lifting up the phone.
The place is on the second floor of the building. There is a small parking lot in front. You can see the sign from the road, but you have to walk around back and up the stairs to get there. There’s a sign on the door telling you knock, as they might be in session.
The place is cute and clean. I think there were three massage rooms. My massage was awesome. My massage therapist was very professional did not talk much so I could just relax. (Have you ever been somewhere where they talked your ear off the whole time you were there?) I think I even fell asleep at one point! My therapist was also sure to ask that the pressure was just right.
Using a credit card, a one hour massage came to about $ 68.00. It was well worth every penny.
