I HIGHLY recommend this place to anyone in need of repairing your computer! Hip is the main technician there, and possesses extensive knowledge about hard drives, which was the reason why I came there in the first place.
This past September, my 2012 Macbook Pro crashed. I took it to the Apple Genius Bar and they replaced both the drive and the cable. It was my fault that I didn’t back up the files, so I ended up paying for a replacement AS WELL AS to get my old hard drive back because that was a part of Apple’s policy. In addition, all of the files on that broken drive are stuck on there, if it is even still able to get out. Just nine months later in June of this year, my hard drive crashed again! Just to see, I went in for another consultation at the Apple Genius Bar and again, they told me that the hard drive was damaged and that they wouldn’t be able to recover my data. I was pretty fed up the first time with Apple and their policy about having to pay to get back my broken hard drive (that I had already paid for with the computer!) as well as the fact that I had been there less than a year ago for a hard drive replacement. So I looked for another alternative. I came across this shop on Unilocal that had really good reviews and decided to give it a try.
Upon entering, I was greeted by Hip’s two pet dogs. They make the most lovely door greeters and are really friendly! While you are doing your consultation, they will sit patiently on the floor or on the bench. I was helped by one of his workers who listened very intently to my long story (mentioned above) and then began to run some tests to see if it was the hard drive that was malfunctioning again. It took him about two to three other hard drives in order to get my computer up and running in order to run diagnostics. Hip and his employees were incredibly knowledgeable about what was malfunctioning and explained it to me in the most basic terms, as I really don’t know much about computer terminology. And guess what? My data was recoverable after all! After only 2 days, I received my laptop back with a solid state drive (SSD) rather than a hard drive, all data transferred to my newly running system. Now that I have an SSD, my laptop is running faster than ever! This is really convenient for me as a college student who relies on using a laptop on a day-​to-​day basis. Hip showed me just how much faster it went. My laptop now turns on in a matter of seconds and all of my programs run incredibly fast, even if there are multiple ones open. He and his workers even took the liberty of cleaning out all the dust and dirt that accumulated on the inside of the laptop over the years! In addition, I went ahead and bought myself an external hard drive, and Hip even took the time to show me how to use it. AND I got my hard drive back, sealed in a nice little package, for free. :)
I really appreciate the patience that these employees had for me given the situation that I was in as well as their level of knowledge on computers and professionalism. I’ll definitely be coming back here should I run into any future problems. If you are looking for someone to repair your laptop, please highly consider this locally run business. Thank you hpower computing for making my new computer fly! Purchased a new HP computer, needed someone to help me transfer all my data from old computer. Called around to a few places, shocked by the attitude of these repair shops when I asked for a quick turnaround time. Lucky for me I found hpower computing, he was patient, took the time needed to help me out, replaced my brand-​new hard drive was a solid-​state hard drive to really make my computer fly! I would highly recommend this company to anybody who has computer needs.

This small company truly provides quality service. I brought my four year old Samsung laptop in because it was abnormally slow and ultimately, would not ultimately not me log into Windows. I didn’t want to purchase a brand new laptop so after finding H Power Computing on Unilocal,I took it in for a free diagnosis.
Hip and his crew are friendly and quick. He asks that you bring your charger with your laptop for servicing, and within a few minutes, Hip was able to explain to me in understandable terms what was wrong with my computer and why it was running so slow. He also noticed right away that the charter that I purchased from Battery Bill was NOT the correct charger. I was able to purchase a Universal Charger from H Power Computing (special order, $ 129). This charger is going to last me for the rest of my laptoping life. I dropped my laptop off on Wednesday afternoon, I got it back better than new on Friday afternoon. My computer starts up Windows (and other programs) considerably quicker than before.
I am so grateful to have found this business via Unilocal and I will definitely use them again/​recommend to anyone.

AMAZING SERVICE!!! My hard drive crashed and Apple couldn’t help. Hip and his employees saved my computer, added a MUCH BETTER hard drive, and made it like new (and far faster) overnight! They explained everything to me and I’m an idiot when it comes to computers! They could have easily «pulled one over on me» and fed me some BS but they didn’t. They were completely honest, fair, and even helped me out with my cell phone issues and time capsule (back-​up device). HANDS DOWN, 5 STARS!!! I’d give more if I could. And you’re supporting a local business, started from a local guy who obviously loves what he does! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

Got me to buy a great computer that is way too big for my home and way too expensive for my budget, but it is a very fast compute. Just way too big and too expensive for my needs.

I read all the good reviews about this place and decided try it out. How can you go wrong with a free disgnostic? They checked out my computer on the spot which was really nice and gave me an estimate right away. The estimate was very reasonable. I can see that he is in business for the long run and not just trying to make a quick buck. He also gave me a short class in computers at a level that I can understand.

My 3 yr old HP laptop was so slow & had soooo much issues going on. Opening it was already frustrating. I brought it to Hip, who gave a free diagnostic. He explained to me everything that was wrong with the laptop. He used «layman» terms and even showed me the parts that needed replacement. I felt like I was in an anatomy class for computers!
He changed my hard drive & gave it back to me for free in an external hard drive. He removed all the bloatware that came with the laptop & the ones accumulated downloading stuffs. He literally cleaned it!
Hip also requested to speak with my boys who use the laptop. He taught them what & what not to do. I am a nurse & I believe that education is vital to prevention. We have had the laptop for a couple of days now, & I couldn’t be more happier! its lightening fast!

I drop my phone in the ocean. Went to someone else to get fix. It didn’t work took it to these guys they show me pics of still salt damage to the phone which was suppose to be clean by the other guys. Hip is very knowledgeable. He went out of his way to help me get my data off my phone. would recommend these guys if you drop your phone in the water. don’t hesitate bring it in right away. I dropped a drink on my laptop keyboard and I thought my laptop was done for! I was hesitate about where to take in but these guys totally rock! Seriously, after calling around a few places I knew this was the place to go! They were super friendly on the phone and in person! The service was awesome and they ordered and replaced my keyboard in a day and now my laptop is working perfectly! I am glad Hip contacted me extending an offer to help with any further issues. It took awhile to finally get back in the store. I was happy to meet with him and could tell this would be a different experience. Right off the bat, I could sense Hip has many years of experience not just in computer repair but in business and how to stay afloat during hard times. We talked about business for awhile. It was a pleasure to do so again.
I was hoping to bring in something more akin to the problem I had before but alas, I was not so lucky. This time I had a computer with a stuck battery and 3 hard drives I wanted to get the data from. One was really old and no one has seen one of these drives for a couple decades.
That’s one challenge. Another drive just cut power soon after you started it up. The other one I had no clue if it even worked. What was important about these drives is they were on computers I used for specific business locations. I needed those data files for what ever reason that could come up.
I didn’t know how long it would take but felt a week should be more than long enough. However, I got the call 2 days later. I immediately went down to pick them since it wasn’t too far away and wanted to go to Chinatown to get a little sumpin-​sumpin to eat. I said hello to Hip who was talking to another customer. Roy, who did the actual work, showed me the computer. I powered it up and took a look at the data that was pulled over. Lots of junk but went immediately to the files I was looking for and glad to see they were in tact. I was worried a bit because they did admit it was not a full 100% recovery. Totally understandable. I was surprised data was actually pulled off all 3 drives. I made the payment, talked to Hip a little more and said I would be back with any further issues I may come across.
This definitely was a much more satisfying experience and a good example how Unilocalers and business owners can turn any 1 star around. I for 1 am happy for the whole experience.

TAKE YOUR COMPUTER TO H POWER!
Back in November, my 14 month old Costco Dell computer completely stopped working. Called Dell, but it was beyond its 1 yr. warranty. Checked Unilocal,then called a friend, and ultimately chose H Power to take my computer to. I’m happy I did.
This computer is the only computer we use to run our business and all of our personal affairs. It is invaluable.
First, I always appreciate a business that opens on time and answers their phone. H Power did both. Small things, but it is truly amazing how many small businesses fail at both.
My computer died at night, so I drove straight to H Power in the morning to be there at 930am, their opening time. Once in the area, I called H Power at 930am to check for directions regarding parking. They picked up right away. I pulled up to the shop at 935am and they were open and ready for business.
The owner, Hip, greeted me and so did two very cute/​friendly shop dogs (love shop dogs). Hip was super helpful, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic about his trade. His guys were able to diagnose the problem with my computer in minutes: my hard drive was completely dead.
Hip was able to explain/​show in very lay terms, the difference between the cheap hard drive that came with my Costco Dell and the solid state drive that’s similar to the type found in cell phones. He was very affable and I never once felt like I was getting the hard selI.
I chose to have a solid state drive installed and he quoted me 3 – 5 days-they’ll rush it. I was shocked. Our business can’t live without that computer that long I explained. Was there anything he could do? He said they’d do their best.
Their best… they had that computer ready for me by end of business the next day! I couldn’t believe it! EXCELLENT service!
I chose to restore all the data myself and had some hiccups a long the way. I called Hip a couple of times for help and he always picked up the call immediately and was always willing to help.
It’s been a couple of months now and all is restored. I’m extremely satisfied with the service I received and the price. Would have had Hip build us a new computer if ours wasn’t still so new. Next time, though. Thank you Hip and H Power!

I should preface this review by saying I don’t know too much about computer repairs, but I know I like my computer and other electronics to run properly. Thank goodness there are guys like Hip in this world. Guys who chose to become experts at computers, so I can go on living my life, which relies heavily on computers and technology.
Hip is really knowledgeable about computers, and he isn’t out to make a quick buck off you. His shop is located downtown, and it has a parking lot. For those who frequent downtown, you know the parking alone puts his shop above some others. I brought it my external hard drive for him to diagnose… a diagnostic check, by the way, is free. I rolled in after work one day, and talked to him about the issues I was experiencing and he immediately went to work. Hip keeps his dogs in the shop, so while he is tinkering, you can laugh and play with his pups, Lilo and Radar… they are so cute and funny,
Eventually, Hip told me I have to send my external hard drive to a clean room, which I can’t afford at the moment. He also suggested I just hang on to it for a while, if I can live without the data for now, because the price of sending it to a cleanroom is going down drastically. I agreed that would be my best option, so I’m holding on to it.
In the end, there was no charge, just a friendly conversation about my hard drive and the options I have to fix it. I appreciate that Hip respected my time and money, and he didn’t try to scam me out of my money. Sometimes going to a computer repair shop can feel like going to a car dealership. I am happy this experience was nothing like that and I would recommend this shop to my friends.

I’d say back in the good old days of Windows 95 and a whopping 8 MB of RAM I was pretty dialed in to fixing my own computer. I even worked in IT for 13 years before retiring in 2009! How things have changed…
I will fully admit that in the past 4 – 5 years I have forgotten most of what I knew and that knowledge is outdated anyway. When my computer broke, I tried to do it myself… Bad idea.
Fortunately I took it over to H Power and embarrassingly told Hip about what I did to make the problem worse. We had a good laugh and I let him work his magic. Next day everything was back to normal, in fact it ran even better than I remember it!
Next time I won’t hesitate to take it in immediately.

This place should be your last stop for all your computing needs. Personal, fast, and friendly. I asked Hip to build a computer for my photography and photo-​processing, and couldn’t be happier. My computer works great, it’s plenty fast to handle lightroom, photoshop and all my plugins, with enough HD memory (mirrored hard drives for backup) to last a long time.
When I initially saw the computer I noticed that there was no CD rom drive (I guess most people don’t use CD’s anymore, lol, but I do), I pointed it out and they put one in no problem, no questions asked. I will definitely come back for my next PC.

The only thing this shop is good for is a FREE diagnostic check. But please, if you are looking for a quality assembly or repair, DO NOT put your money down on Hip or his company. There is absolutely no guarantee or warranty for your data, parts, or their repair service, and the last thing you want to hear from Hip is that there was a ‘short’ in your computer and you leave short-​changed with your motherboard short-​circuited.
Unfortunately, this is exactly what Hip told me, but I had already signed his agreement that I understood their company had no warranty coverage or guarantee even though Hip claims to have insurance. I even have this on record.
So be very wary if any of his employees attempt to sell you an upgrade after your FREE diagnostic check. Consider this your fair warning!
