I’ve been here on multiple occasions, and I’ve never been disappointed. Their food is amazing! Get the seared ahi and the tator tot nachos – you won’t regret it. Great place for a few drinks after a long day, but an even better place for pupus. Go!

Great place! I love food, darts, and girls and Home Bar & Grill has it all(the space for the darts is a tight though). I jokingly call it «Home Bar Girl» to my girlfriend and it upsets her to no end, but she’s not a fool. The workers are friendly and helpful, which I’m hoping is a non-sexist way of saying that they are friendly on the eyes.

The staff are friendly. It was a little sketchy from the outside. Inside is a total bar atmosphere. Parking is horrible. They do offer valet parking but during peak time they get pack. So, food is just OMGeee! I just can’t get enough of their ahi tuna. Flavor were excellent. The tater tots nacho was the bomb. My mouth is getting watery just thinking about it. This place is my new to go place for ahi tuna.

My friends and I grabbed drinks and some food before dropping off some people at the airport. My friends enjoyed the parmesan fries and seared ahi sashimi… they loved it!!! Plenty of seating and can accommodate large groups. They have an area to for darts if you’re into that. Parking is extremely limited(only several spaces in the front and valet in the back).

I don’t frequent bars very often but I love bar food! I’ve heard about their infamous tater tots and visited this establishment with my other half on a Friday night. I knew it would be busy and I was right! There were many people already inside, with additional people hanging out at and near the bar. Although the wait was about an hour for a booth table, the gentleman that I talked to was able to place us at a small table in the corner near the back. Totally fine with us! Their selection of food looked really good. We ended up getting the Because Chris«The Situation» Tai Wanted It which was the loaded tater tots, along with the kimchee steak, the house salad with seared ahi, and a couple of Brew Moons. Hehe. I was super satisfied with everything. The tater tots had the right amount of crispiness and packed with flavor. The house salad was huge and had large pieces of bacon tossed inside. It’s healthy because it is inside a salad. Hah! :-) The seared ahi was very clean and lean. The steak was soo good and tender. Mmm mmm mmm!!! I think we out did ourselves and left Home Bar & Grill with the leftovers in hand. We wanted to roll home if we could morph into a ball form. Less work, but we are not that capable.

Well, I heard about the garlic chicken and so I ended up here. This was my second visit and I needed another go at the eatery. Upon entering, I noticed a good amount of booths and televisions around. It’s definitely a great place to go and watch a game. I placed my order of garlic chicken at the bar. There was good energy in the room as beers and food were flowing from people’s sections. My order was to go, and I happily paid and left. The chicken for me tasted rubbery, and lacked the crispness that I was expecting. However, the garlic was present along with its chips giving it great flavor. Green cut onions were dressed on top giving it some color. On my second visit, I ordered the togarashi spiced chicken wings, and Eric’s spicy island style smoked pork. I asked for the wings to not be breaded, which they accommodated:) I paid the extra two bucks for their homemade blue cheese! So worth it!!! The wings were AWESOME! They were hot, crispy, spicy, and fried to perfection. The meat inside was not dried out, but tender and moist. The wings are best when partnered with blue cheese. You can never beat homemade!!! The spicy island style smoked pork was tasty as well. It was neighbored with crunchy thick onions and cabbage. There was a generous portion, and the pork had a huge kick of spice! The only con I may say is, that the marinade was a bit much. There was a heavy hand of soy involved. Besides that, the food was great! The waitress was very sweet, and on point with filling my water, and delivering my meal in a timely manner. I will come back and give the garlic chicken another go!!!

Their food is amazing! Their kalbi was very tasty with a hint of spice and their truffle fries were even good as left overs the next day! Their take on Negator is pretty interesting and the wasabi sauce was a surprisingly good compliment to the fish(I’m not a wasabi fan). The only reason I didn’t give them a five is because of the lack of parking and the fact that we had to wait over 45 minutes to get a table. I would definitely make reservations next time I want to go there. They’re too popular!

I found this place on Unilocal while on vacation. My boyfriend and I were craving some different food then what we were finding closer to wikiki. The food was delicious. We had the ahi poke, garlic chicken and kimche fried rice. It was everything we wanted! The friend rice is HUGE the two of us shared it and still had a lot left over. This is definitely a local bar. My boyfriend and I walked in and immediately stuck out. We had no idea if we sat ourselves or waited for someone. Luckily a waitress took pity and told us she got her manager for us. He was super awesome and nice. Got our names down and within 10 min had a table. I was a little nervous we maybe wouldn’t be welcome but I was wrong. Really glad we stayed and had some food and beers here!

This place is definitely a sports/dive bar. If you’re just looking to eat, it’s probably not a good idea to come during game days unless you make a reservation in advance which was what we didn’t do so we ended up waiting about an hour(bf really wanted to try this place). However, the servers are all very nice and constantly check up on you to make sure you’re doing okay while waiting. For our orders we got steak burger, tater tots and Kabi noodles. The portions were HUGE. So if you’re not that hungry, just share because if this was a man vs. food type of thing then you’ve lost before you even take a bite. The food was okay, there was nothing special about the tater tots, and the steak burger was too salty and the gravy was too thick and over powering. The noodles were okay– if I come back here, I’d definitely order it again. The first two orders came in fairly fast, but the steak burger took forever. We were just about done eating when it came in(done in a sense that we couldn’t eat no more). To sum it up– good atmosphere, nice waitresses, good service, long wait and okay food.

Went to this place after the beach to grab dinner. Definitely worth it we order the moco loco and tater tots 10 to 15 min later it came out, the cook is on point and the food server. It didn’t sit there for a min when it was done cooking that how good the service is never seen this kind of service anywhere in my life. Im from California and the service there was not as quick as this place would recommend this place for anyone. Best service and good food quality.

Home Bar & Grill is close by to 24 Hour Fitness/Don Quijote. Parking is limited in the front(off of Kalakaua) with just a handful of stalls and then there’s valet in the back, which can fill up on busy nights. There used to be a lot next door that was super convenient, but the last time I visited Home Bar, I noticed that it was all fenced up. =( Reservations for bigger groups are recommended. You can still walk in, but we’ve waited about 30 – 90 minutes, depending on how crazy it is that night… But worth the wait! The highlight of this bar is the food. If you’re looking for a bar to eat at, then this is it. All of the dishes are very tasty and you really can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. My ultimate favorites are: –Parmesan Truffle Fries: the truffle is just the right amount and I love how they add those crispy pepperoni chips since it pairs perfectly with the fries! –Wafu Steak: soooo tasty and the steak is very soft & tender – a must have! Service is already great here too – the servers check on you throughout the night and we hardly ever have to flag someone down. Great relaxed atmosphere with some dart boards, but mostly just a fun place to hang out in the booths with friends as you eat & talk story!

This place is always crowded. Parking is tight. I usually do street parking around Don Quijote. If it’s late at night or during a football game, the place is crowded. I arrived Sunday night at about 6:30pm. The football game was still on and went into OT. Lots of people were there. I just had a beer, hung around, and waited. My friends were late anyway so it was no big deal. As soon as it was over we got seated. Having been here before, we had a good idea of what to order. We ordered the garlic chicken, kimchee fried rice, Angus beef, and a turkey chowder. The best way to describe the food is orgasmic. You can taste the flavor of each dish strongly. We had 4 people in our group. The portions were big, but it was alright. Definitely bar food, as it’s not healthy, but that’s why you aren’t here. You are here to hang out with your friends, drink, shoot the shit, and eat really good local food. That’s why this place rocks and everyone waits for it.

What a find! Was in Hawaii visiting family and also out for a wedding and Unilocaled a good place to eat and this hole in the wall spot popped up and man did it not disappoint. Upon waking in, the place looks like any other sports bar but the food, service, music, and crowd is x100 better. Drinks are cheap and so is the food, but quality and quantity isn’t skimped in the process. Portions here are huge and the prices low, you’ve been warned so don’t do what we did and ordered with our eyes and our stomachs didn’t deliver. My all time favorite and I’ll recommend this over and over is the GARLICAHISASHIMI aka BECAUSECOLONELREQUESTEDIT $ 18 Very generous portions of fresh ahi with ponzu sauce, garlic chips, topped with onions and jalapeño. One word, AMAZING! Especially for the price and how much they give you. 5 stars*** BECAUSECHRISTHESITUATIONTAIWANTEDIT-$ 9 Tater tot nachos covered in sour cream, jalapeños, bacon, salsa, Nacho cheese, and olives. Mmmm mmm mmm. Felt so guilty eating this but felt so good. Again, huge portions was able to split between 4 other people. A must try 5 stars**** NEILSPARMESANTRUFFLEFRIES $ 8 Crispy pepperoni chips, fresh herbs, Parmesan cheese, black pepper, and garlic anchovy aioli. Another must try, and another huge portion. Got a side or ranch and a size of ketchup and it paired well with both. 5stars***** TOGARASHISPICEDWINGS $ 9 perfectly crispy with just the right seasoning, only thing I thought was weird is they served this with a side of ketchup… Huh? 4 ½ stars**** BIGJOHNSSPICYKIMCHEEFRIEDRICE combination of spam, Portuguese sausage, Kim Chee, white and green onions All topped with two eggs any way you’d like. We went with the sunny side up eggs of course. Perfection! My second favors dish from here. Rice was flavorful and packed with all the fix’ins. Huge portion of course. 5 stars**** We ended up eating here three times during our visit and every time was just as good as the time before. Workers are great and repeatedly check on you and not just your server, but all employees walking buy. Besides that it’s a good mixed crowd with great music and service. Parking sucks though, first two times we parked down the way the third time we took an über after bar hopping down town since parking is so limited. When back in town I’ll definitely be coming back here.

Monday night is a bit busy. I am lucky to have found a cocktail table in the corner that wobbles right by a pair of guys throwing darts. Buffalo played some other football team but I could not concentrate on the game because my Wafu steak which is Paleo correct was engrossing all of my taste buds. I was a bit concerned since I wore shorts. The service was spectacular considering it was standing room only. The portion, price and quality of the food is right on perfect. I ordered the steak medium rare and it was perfectly grilled and smothered in a brown mushroom onion radish goulash that due to the table pooled mostly on one side of the large plate. Look at the photo; it looks like Haleakala. This tender Wafu steak absorbs the marinade, the radish purée behaves as an emulsifier bringing all the flavors together with bits of fresh trapped green onion, mushrooms and caramelized onion. Also ordered the sashimi seared ahi tuna. See photos. The aroma and quality of the tuna with sesame seeds is also salivating. Both of these dishes are completely healthy protein. Next time I’m in Honolulu, I’ll return here as salmon return to their birthplace. Healthy Deliciousness

This place is constantly busy with nowhere to park and nowhere to sit. If you’re an average unlucky kinda person, you would find no parking available in front of Home Bar(there’s about 8 spots), no paid parking next to Home Bar(15 – 20 spots), so you find street parking across the street in some neighborhood and walk 15 minutes over. You should’ve Über’d it, man. If your luck still hasn’t returned to you, Home Bar staff tells you it’ll be about an hour wait. So you sit at the bar(the far end where to-go orders are being placed, next to the trash can) while you wait for your friends(always late) and a table. All of this is very frustrating, I know. But it all pays off when you finally sit down and receive your food, because the food. well, it is fantastic and well worth all that frustration. The #1 thing you absolutely, positively, without-a-doubt, must(MUST) order is the Seared Ahi Sashimi. $ 18, and you get ~15 pieces of fresh ahi seared perfectly, laid on top of radishes & sprouts, drizzled with delicious soy vinaigrette sauce. YUM. My other favorites are the truffle fries, kimchi fried rice, and the tater tot nachos. These all come in HUGE portions, so be mindful when you order. Or else you’ll be like me with 3 to-go boxes. The service was good, prompt, friendly– so no complaints there. Full bar available with helpful/attentive bartenders! I don’t know my alcohol so sometimes I ask for recommendations, and they’ll whip up delicious/fruity/“not too sweet” cocktail for a reasonable price. This is the type of a place to come with your friends to casually chit chat(loudly, as the bar is loud), watch a game/cheer for your team, and just have a good/chill time. So Über yourself here with plenty of time to kill and enjoy your food/drinks/company!

This is still an awesome place to get your grinds and dranks on. But, there are two things that I disliked about the place. 1) Parking is tight. There is parking on the side alley to the left of Home Bar. There’s a pay machine on the alley-side and it cost me around $ 9 to park. Just be sure to park on the side wall closest to Home Bar. The opposite side is reserved for another restaurant down the back alley way. 2) It’s crowded as hell. But, that’s because the place is popular. Show up at night for dinner and you’ll be sweating away in the heat, while you wait an hour-ish to be seated. Luckily, that night, we sat down closer to 35 minutes. Even with the crowds, the long wait for a table and the crappy parking situation, I’d still hit up Home Bar & Grill. The food is good and so is the atmosphere. Here, it still feels like home.

Mamita.

I really wish there were half stars because I don’t think Home Bar is bad at all. It’s a dive bar that’s great to spend time with a group of friends that like to drink and hang out. The service is great. The food did take a while to come out and there were a few things that I didn’t care for that took away that fourth star. The tator tot nachos were great but the wafu steak was 40% of just fat. I understand fat gives flavor but disappointing because it looked so good. It’s definitely a dive bar and I like that most of the seats are booths but my seat seemed almost broken and uncomfortable. I’m 5’8 but the seat was so sunken in I had to sit straight up on the edge to be able to eat. I’m being too picky but just making an observation I think Unilocalers would like to know. The annoyance that will keep me from coming back anytime soon is the lack of parking. I feel like $ 5 for valet, plus tip is steep for a dive bar. The paid parking on the side is $ 2/hr. Most of the meter machines I’ve seen are a $ 1/hr. I just can’t justify paying that much for parking for Home Bar. I think I would have enjoyed myself more if I wasn’t pregnant and could drink. The food was good bar food but I would not recommend it if you’re coming just for the food.

I had to write about my recent experience. My boyfriend and I wanted to try something different, or something other than the phở across the street from Home Bar and Grill. So we went to Home Bar and Grill. We really wanted to try their Loco Moco… it looked great, on point. gravy was everything, egg looked bubbly and moist, and it was steaming hot. It was not until I took a bite of the meat that. everything was torn down. The meat was burnt, not just burnt though. it tasted like the actual grill. It tasted soooo burnt, that I could taste the grill! It was toxic that we didn’t finish half of it. My boyfriend finished his half, because his meat was fine, for some reason, my meat tasted horrendous. Then there’s ALWAYS this dilemma where, do we want to be that person at a restaurant who already ate almost half the loco moco and then complain about it, then expect to get another one, and then you are even more paranoid that the workers may spit in your food? We just left it at that, then I came home and wrote this review. (We ate at home bare about two months ago.) —— But I know Home Bar & Grill has awesome food and service. So of course, I will still give them another chance. It’s just unfortunate that, this time, the quality was not consistent.

Yuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuup! I finally made it here! Back n’ da day, it was a weekly ritual to go out, be at a bar or a club, & pound down a few wid’ da homies. Well, let me tell you folks… times have changed, as people get old, get married, have kids, and have responsibilities… Going out, & hangin’ at da bar has taken a backseat… and somehow, is not as important anymore… and if you folks thought I was referring to myself… HELLNO! I wasn’t talkin’ about myself! Lol! I still like going out… just not everyday… My main rida had a «go out pass» from da wifey, and told me we should get together to catch up… as it’s been like 6 months already since I last saw him. He rolled by my house to pick me up, and then I told him I just had to have the«Nacho Tater Tots» at the Home Bar & Grill!!! Upon arriving at the Home Bar & Grill last night, we parked to the side of the bar, as there was a pay parking lot.- One quick note; if you decide to pay with cash for your parking, the machine does not give out change, so be sure you have the exact amount! Upon walking into the joint… it was already quite busy. Lucky for us, we were able to secure a spot at the bar area, as most of the tables were already reserved. Upon sitting down, the friendly bartender came over and took our drink order, as well as our food order. We ordered the following bar food that night — 1. Nachos Tater Tots 2. Garlic Chicken 3. Ahi Poke What can I saw about the bar grub? Well, the Nachos Tater Tots was as advertised!!! NOMS! The crunchy tater tots were topped with some gooey cheese spread, and it had real bacon bits, cut jalapeños peppers, salsa, sour cream, cut black olives, and green onions. Gang, eating this is definitely NOT health food here! And the portion they served was HUGE!!! We only finished off about 1⁄3 of this dish, as it was just too rich, and plentiful! The Garlic Chicken… gang, another winna here! The boneless chicken was battered & deep fried. The chicken was topped with a very tasty garlic sauce(which was poured on top of the chicken) as it sat on a bed of coleslaw. Ahi Poke… nice and very fresh poke! Very large portion of poke, and marinaded to perfection! And of course we washed down this delicious bar meal with a few Heineken light(gotta watch my boyish figa!). Overall, this place kinda reminds me of the original Side Street Inn(the one near Ala Moana Shopping Center), where there were a few T.V.‘s going on with sports, and they also had a pay Karaōke machine too. On the menu, there are a lot more delicious items, and I hope one day I can come back here to try them. I would say… it would probably be best if you came here with a big crew, that way you can order more food to share among yourselves(as the food portions are pretty huge).
