The LensCrafters’ associates were welcoming and helpful, but I can’t say the same for the receptionist at the eye exam area. Their sign at the eye exam area clearly stated they closed at 6:30pm and walk-​ins were welcomed, so luckily my friend made it in before 6pm, had the form filled out, and taken in soon after to begin his eye exam. After finishing part of the exam, he was told to have a seat in the waiting room and the doctor will see him shortly. So we waited and as soon as 6:30 pm approached, the receptionist decided she was gonna reschedule his appointment, so she asked, pulling the ‘we close at 6:30′ card. Mind you, the doctor never asked the receptionist to
do that and the doctor’s assistant was caught by surprised because she thought and seemed willing to take him in. As soon as she rescheduled his appointment, guess who was out the door first — the receptionist. Anyways, because of the service at the eye exam area this is why I gave this location a low rating. I guess
the best thing to do is schedule an appointment, so if does run over closing time, you can just pull the ‘I had an appointment’ card.

Thank you! I just stopped by to get some questioned answered regarding a new pair of frames for my glasses. Deanna was able to repair the frames at no charge and answer my questions in a pleasant and professional manner. It’s nice to see quality customer service is still alive and well. I shall be making an appt for an exam/​back-​up pair of glasses based on the service from today. Aloha

Enjoyed getting my glasses here, the optometrist Dr. Pham and the salesguy were all great. My suggestion is for the manager to frown less and trust her staff to create a pleasant experience for shopping.

I am unsure of whether or not lenscrafters offers customer service. Kahala mall yesterday no service. Today ala Moana 4 employees did not approach me to greet or offer assistance. Perhaps I’m supposed to approach employees when I’ve found the right pair. I was indecisive between 2 holding both in my hand for over 10 min. Husband walks in and asks me if I was greeted by anyone. I said no and he said we are walking out. Ok. No spending money here for glasses.

I would like to thank Chris Torres and his associates at Al Moana location! Chris went above and beyond the call of duty to take care of my needs and provide me with the best customer service I have received in a very long time!
The location in SLC, UT explained a process for my new lenses that was incorrect and upon arrival to HI I needed to have glasses remade and since it had gone beyond the 6 month period there was nothing they could do for me here! He spent over an hour with me trying to find a solution that was satisfactory for his location and especially me. I will get my new glasses made thanks to Chris’ perseverance.

The two stars is a balance between the business Lens Crafters and their associated eye doctors. My major complaint is with the eye doctors. I do not know why they were not able to get my prescription right, but they didn’t after two attempts. In the end I just went back to my favorite eyeglass store in NYC after the eye doctor at Lens Crafters prescribed me glasses that gave me headaches.
I needed glasses in a hurry. I was going to Mexico and wanted sunglasses with my prescription. It had been awhile since my last eye exam so I was persuaded to have one before getting new prescription shades.
The doctor was a little too touchy-​feely for my taste. He was excessively chatty and I got a bad vibe from him. Nevertheless, I got my glasses in a few days and took them to Mexico for three weeks.
I wore the glasses out of the store and got that odd sense of vertigo. I felt much taller than I am because my perception of how far the ground was from my eyes was distorted. This happens sometimes with a new prescription but it should go away rather quickly. I had this feeling for about two weeks and got splitting headaches in Mexico where the sun is blinding and sunglasses are necessary.
When back in Honolulu I took the glasses back to the store and LC staff asked me to go through another eye exam with the same doctor. I was uncomfortable, but did it anyway. Again, that overly-​friendly vibe. And the doctor concluded that his original assessment of my eyes had been spot on so I decided to get a refund rather than go through the mess again. Lens Crafters does offer this option and for that I am grateful. The glasses were expensive.
I waited for a couple of weeks until my trip back to NYC and returned to my eye doctor there where I was given a different prescription and a pair of glasses that took one walking block for me to adjust to. I subsequently took that prescription to Lens Crafters to get a pair of sunglasses made and all is well.

If you need glasses see Ami, she helped us pick out lenses and frames! She was patient and very helpful!

Don’t waste your time here, I just got straight up ignored for about 25 minutes straight, even when I asked someone if I could get some help I was told to «hold on sir» and then they immediately went on to help about 5 different people who just walked in the door while I had already been waiting for about 20 min! I’m going to a place where the employees don’t look so over their jobs so maybe I can get some help with some new glasses.

I went there for a check up since its been a while. They were very nice and polite. The optometrist was such a sweetheart! It was also nice that she was able to relate with my eye prescription. I never thought that I would consider getting eye contacts but she was so sincere and gave me a lot of information that I’m considering the option. Overall they were very nice.

Recently, while my son was visiting for spring break, we stopped in to LensCrafters because his 30 day contacts had surpassed 6 months (for reasons I neither understand or can imagine). Frankly, he was in dire need of glasses. I called my personal eye doctor in hopes of an immediate appointment with no luck. Thankfully, LensCrafters had an spot open (quite a few spots actually) available the very same day.
Upon our arrival, we were greeted and asked to fill out the normal insurance paperwork. Luckily, they take HMSA so the process was relatively seamless.
Once the eye exam was complete, we went on a frame hunt … Ever shopped with a 16 yr old??? NOT fun. But the selection was good (not great) and we were able to find a frame that suited his taste and my budget.
After a slight hiccup or two, we were on our way out in about an hour (after the eye exam).
Keep in mind that they can only do certain frames and lens within this «one hour» time promise. Get a definitive answer before you elect to hang out for an hour or so, so as not to wasted your time. At times, they may have to send the Rx out to have them made elsewhere making your wait up to 10 days or so.
Overall, a good option. I will be back.

New glasses! I can see… They have great customer service. Enjoyed talking with the knowledgable staff and Chris, the manager. He was helpful and helped me order the perfect pair. We were roaming about Ala Moana Shopping Center when my husband whipped out a $ 249 discount flyer from LensCrafters on complete pairs of eyeglasses with prescription lenses that he received through the mail. He wears eyeglasses because he has had complications using contact lenses and his prescription had just been changed for the better. I thought that was pretty remarkable considering that he’s worn the same prescription for the past 3 years and now, his vision has improved! So, okay… we wandered into the shop at 10-​ish in the morning.
We were cheerfully greeted by Heather (store manager) who, at the time, was on the phone but still took the time to acknowledge us. We told her that we were just browsing and showed her the coupon. She then assigned Jennifer to assist us with our needs. Jennifer was friendly and answered the questions that my husband had about the use of the coupon and eligible products. At which point, she looked us up in her customer database and informed us of another special that was more «attractive» because of our loyalty. If you wear eyewear, you truly know that you wear them not only for better or corrective vision but they can be great accessories, also.
During the time that we were in the store, several others came in while the other technicians went to help them, while Jennifer stayed with us. We selected 2 new frames (Persol and Ray-​Ban) for my husband. Jennifer «fit» him with lenses with options such as line-​less progressives, impact resistance, scratch-​resistance, HD, and photochromic. Jennifer admitted that she had only been working at Ala Moana store for 2 weeks so she asked for our patience as she required computer access from Heather several times. We completed our transactions within an hour and a half, all the while, Jennifer had focused her customer service on us.
We were informed that it would take at least 14 days for the completion of the eyewear. Both frames are being sent to their respective manufacturer for the required lenses to be made and fit. I know that my husband is looking forward to his new eyeglass frames and prescription to arrive.

Bought a new pair of Oakley prescription glasses from this location. At the time of pick up an associate presented to me glasses with a grossly warped frame. It was clear that the technicians or the associates made no attempt to fix the issue before putting the lenses in or presenting the glasses to me for fitting. When I brought this to their attention she yelled back and blamed her colleague technician in the lab. When I got the glasses back the lens now did not sit evenly in the frame. The associates excuse to me: «this (defect) is within their state standards». Wonderful…
Bottom line is that my impression is that the associates are tired and bored of seeing, fitting, and selling glasses all day. Unfortunately this translates to poor service.

The rep was helpful but they’re salespersons after all so they will push the more expensive lens. I was helped by Jo, she was very helpful however her information was misleading she told me that my glasses would be back in 3 or 4 days instead of the standard two weeks and I’ve called to check and my glasses is still not ready.
I don’t mind waiting, but please don’t create fake expectations next time. The least you can do is tell me the truth when I’ve spent $ 800 on a pair of glasses.

Was referred here by HMSA because HMSA thought that they would accept my Vision insurance at the usual, customary and reasonable amount determined by HMSA. As I entered I gave my name and my insurance card and confirmed that single vision basic glasses were $ 25 out of pocket and bifocals were $ 35 out of pocket. Waited and was referred to a clerk who apologized in advance because it was his first day helping customers. He entered all of my personal information in the computer and commented that I could enroll in the payment plan if I wanted, but I offhandedly mentioned that since the co-​pay was only $ 35 I would pay it in cash. The information entered by the trainee-​clerk would not save it so he referred me to someone more experienced.
She asked me for my phone number three times so finally I told her I would write it down, she also asked me questions about the prescription… I was a little taken aback by this because I know that relying on the patient to clarify a prescription kind of defeats the purpose of having the doctor write a prescription in the first place, because while the doctor briefly discussed the prescription with me a month ago, I would hate to tell them that the doctor specified bifocals if that is not what was written.
Anyway the second person noted that the computer was malfunctioning and apologized for having to retype the prescription, patient and insurance information and retaking the measurements many times. That was fine, Then she informed me that the the bill was $ 255 I informed her that that HMSA specifically referred me there and the greeter had already informed me that it was going to be $ 35 out of pocket. So she called the greeter over and they worked on it some more.
Finally all seemed ok and the clerk went to the check out counter to finalize the deal, she called me over and showed me a bill for $ 49. So again I reminded them that it was supposed to be $ 35…‘Well actually it is $ 39 plus tax.’ So I informed them that the GET is 4.79% and got out a calculator and figured the tax at about $ 1. So finally a man in the white coat came over and told me that I needed to pay HMSAs share of the tax as well as my own. Since I had now been working on placing the order with them about an hour already… I did not have a whole lot of patience.
I told them that I would absolutely not pay HMSA’s share of the tax I would happily pay MY tax and if the situation was not resolved in about a minute ‘I am out of here.’ So they insisted that I had to pay $ 9 tax on a $ 39 bill. so I walked and went to HMSA and complained.
With so many errors, re-​dos and misunderstandings… what are the chances that Lenscrafters would have accurately filled the prescription?

The staff at the optometrists office are great… Friendly and professional. I received a complete comprehensive exam.
I was sent out to the eyeglass center and they were equally friendly and professional.

My glasses are about 20 years old and have a broken hinge that I rigged with some acrylic so I figured I was due for a new but cheap pair. I am primarily a contact lens wearer so I don’t want anything high end. I had business in the Ala Moana business center so when I was done I wandered over to LensCrafters to see what they had to offer. There was only one other customer in the store when I entered and apparently two sales people on the floor, one occupied with the other customer and some guy sitting behind a desk.
Glancing around the showroom all I saw were designer names around the various displays of frames. I went to the section marked Men’s and saw another customer enter the front door. Neither sales person had greeted me my instinct told me this is not going to end well.
The unoccupied sales guy had wandered in the back and upon his return bothered to ask me if there was anything in particular that I was looking for. I asked him how much were their cheaper frames and where would they be located. He pointed across the showroom stating their frames start at $ 119. I wandered over to where he had directed me under the Kids sign though he had said there weren’t just kids frames there. Yep, they started at $ 119. I turned around and the sales guy was back at his desk. Okay, I guess I’m not getting any help here so glanced around a bit more.
A few seconds later I turn around to see the sales guy sitting down with the lady who had come in after me and he’s pulling out paperwork obviously getting ready to take down her information and sell her some glasses. Seems it was time for me to exit with a shake of my head.
There is a good ending to this story though because I decided to stop by InSpecs at Ward Warehouse where I found I could have a complete set of glasses made with polycarbonate lenses for the same price as LensCrafters cheapest frame! Woohoo! By the way, the staff at InSpecs was super helpful and friendly. Right on InSpecs!

I don’t understand how the workers here can’t see customers? Maybe they all need glasses or something. Entering a store feels great when you are welcomed or at least get noticed at some point of your 30 minute stroll looking around. I would say that half the time I do get asked if I need help with something, but sometimes NONE.
I come here 2 or 3 times a year to look for a new pair of glasses before I make up my mind. The only reason why I come here is because I love the selection of glasses & shades they have. They have generic brands to high end brands. I love the wide selection of nerdy to glamorous styles glasses. I always find several styles I want & have the hardest time choosing one or two.
I also like Lens Crafters Ala Moana because they make glasses really quick & always tightens them for free when I bring my pair in. I can always drop it off & shop around the mall while I wait.
Due to their lack of customer service they didn’t get a 5 from me. I know they do have someone that normally takes down names or takes notes of the order of people coming in the store but they seem to miss me couple times. Hopefully they figure out how make sure they address every customer in the near future.

I’ve been coming here for years, but no more. It was always great one-​on-​one service, but I visited on Saturday and that’s apparently all gone.
I waited for my name to be called-​no big deal, it’s busy. When I hear my name, I walk over and say «I’m Laurel» and the girl says «no, I called LaureN». I look at the list, and I see my name in my handwriting is next. So I said «actually it’s Laurel». She just stares at me and points at a lady sitting behind a desk and walks away. Okay.
Now this lady stares at me. I’m beginning to think I’m growing a third arm or something. I told her I wanted to price out new lenses for an old pair of frames I brought with me, and prescription lenses for a new pair of sunglasses I picked up. She tells me it’ll be 40% off both if I get them both. Dang, that’s a deal.
So now she’s measuring and typing and I wait 20 minutes in silence. Then she has me look into the camera and measures some more. Finished with that, 15 more minutes.
«Your total is $ 524.xx» and she holds out her hand for my card.
I was so shocked and embarrassed to ask what happened that I just handed it over. I know, I shouldn’t have, but I felt so confused. What am I paying for?
I went home extremely upset, and after looking over my invoice, saw I was charged $ 340 for lenses for my old frames. I only wanted the CHEAPEST lenses for those, they’re backups! But she never asked me anything!
I went back, and the same girl who called me Lauren asked if I was picking up, and I told her I had some questions. After explaining my situation to her, she says okay, no problem, let me get my manager.
After sitting there another 20 minutes, this time with the manager typing away on the computer and ignoring me, I got $ 85 back.
I didn’t want polarized sunglasses, but I got them and had to pay for them. I didn’t want high-​end lenses, but I had to pay for those to. But it’s okay, I got $ 85 back. And no apology. At all.
Forget it, Lenscrafters.
