While visiting Hawai’i Zack made me the best cocktail. Friendly place and great atmosphere.

I like this bar unless the two bartenders on monday evening the 23rd of january are working. Dana is one I believe his name was. They have 8 tvs all playing the same basketbal game. I politley asked them to change just 1 tv to the Kings game and I was refused and treated like A worthless customer and was ignored multiple times. I come hear often and have never had an issue however management should look take a second look at their terrible attitude bartenders. 3 stars because their waitress Shilo is verry nice and is on top of everything.

At the top floor next to bubba gump. 4−7pm happy hour 8-whenever happy hour. There’s that one hour gap of normal operation but drinks are great and chill atmosphere. I ate the calamari, it was soggy but didn’t expect too much for bar food. The drinks were priced fairly. The waitress are attractive. Good place to relax at the mall.

Hello $ 5 drinks, live music, the outdoors, and good vibes. For all of these reasons, I came to the Mai Tai bar twice during my short week in Honolulu. Among what I tried: the Mai Tai, Lychee Mai Tai, Mai Tai Tini and Lava Flow. Out of everything, the Lave Flow stood out the most and became my absolutely favorite. Piana(I hope I got that right) was our server, and she was very helpful and timely. Seriously, it was to the point that whenever we wanted a new drink, she was coming around. For five good drinks for $ 25, you guys know how to make me come back and visit.

Awesome outdoor bar in the middle of a nice shopping mall. Good appetizers and very pretty girls serving drinks and food in cute, flirty outfits. Seems like a lot of locals hang out here. I would definitely come back.

Casual chill place with decent food and drinks. Has live music at times as well. Fun place to grab some pupu’s, drinks and dance a little, even though it’s in the mall.

Good drinks, a mediocre happy hour, waitresses in tiny dresses, cool breezes on lawn furniture. Those are my impressions of Mai Tai Bar. We came here to get a drink in before holiday shopping. Arrived at 6:50 and we were immediately approached by a waitress that told us to order before happy hour was finished. So we quickly placed our order. I am pleased our waitress was so on it! Immediately after we ordered we found a seat and grabbed it. That put us at a different waitress’s station. She came and greeted us at 6:55 and when we asked to add onto our order before happy hour was over(at 7:00) she told us it was too late. Eh, I can tell time… they should say it is over at 6:55 or whatever time they want to stop serving the cheaper drinks and food. As far as I am concerned, if I order at 6:59, it is still happy hour. The prices for happy hour are not that great, anyway. I would call this mildly amused hour. I had the lychee martini, and my friend had the pink lady martini. She hated hers so we switched. I liked both of the drinks. The boys got a pitcher of Kona Longboard. Interestingly, the beer was served in plastic tumblers. Hmmm. We also ordered the onion rings and the ricotta flatbread. The onion rings were good but they serve them with a very strong barbecue sauce and a ranch dressing. Neither of these go with the onion rings but I chose to use the ranch dressing because the barbecue sauce was so overpowering you couldn’t taste the onion ring. The ricotta flatbread was ok. More like eating crackers with some stuff on top. But whatever, this is bar food and the expectation was not high. A note on the waitresses. Those dresses look cute(very short, very tight, with a plunging neckline) on these girls who are for the most part all in really good shape. I can see how they attract the guys to the bar to spend money. But these poor girls have to squat to serve you and that really must be uncomfortable. I would have hated that as a server. At least they should turn those dresses into shorts. Fight back, girls! You have already agreed to be objectified, but you shouldn’t also have to be that uncomfortable.

I think success here all depends on the time of day you visit. I’ve been here late night and it’s been body-to-body with people running into me and no place to sit or stand. Happy hour is not only much more mellow, but they also have really killer deals by Hawaii standards — $ 6 pupus(calamari is a fave because it includes some breaded peppers along with the standard squid), $ 3 longboard drafts and $ 9 pitchers, $ 5 cocktails and $ 6 glasses of wine. There’s typically a singer with a guitar playing some groovable live music during happy hour as well. Late night, you’re more likely to find a reggae or jawaiian band and people dancing in front of the stage. I always forget that i’m in a mall here. Good local feel in a touristy place. It’s our go-to for a drink and snack every time we find ourselves in the hecticness of ala Moana.

Great place to go for Sunday football, quick drink during the day, or to meet up with people. Tons of seating and bar seats available. Atmosphere is great during the day, lazy Sunday to watch the games or to meet up to simply hang out. Came to the bar on Sunday around 1045 am and there were tons of seats still available for o watch the game. Every once awhile awhile nice cool breeze comes by and they also have fans to cool down the area as well. Even on a rainy day it looks great(raining all day today and dry as can be underneath). There at least 7 televisions to watch mutiple games. Service is great. Waitresses are very attentive and come by routinely. Only issue would be when it’s late night on a Friday or Saturday when it’s completely packed and there’s no where to move, stand or sit. I avoid those nights all the time. Happy hour or cheap beer won’t get me to them on a busy weekend. On a side note, entertainment at night can be good and it’s nice to hear live music since so many don’t have live music anymore. I do enjoy the entertainment they would have during the day and afternoons; not sure if that’s still around. Food and drinks are your standard mix for a bar. Great happy hour specials for beer pitchers $ 9. Food is nothing special but hits the spot when drinking. Loco moco to start the day for football was good(pretty standard but gravy had something special to it I can’t place my taste buds on — or I was really hungry). I added some Tapatio to give it some spice(necessary). Parking is standard with all of Ala Moana to use. Just a nice place to relax while shopping or while on vacation. Stay here later in the afternoons and you can take a 20 foot walk away to watch a partial sunset. Go to Longhi’s restaurant if you really want the view of the ocean and scenery; this place is good for watching passerby traffic. Atmosphere 5⁄5 during the day(late night 1⁄5) Food/drink Service 5⁄5(late nite 3⁄5 — not their fault) Price Parking *late night only because it sometimes gets too packed where you can’t sit, stand, move, or even find the waitress. Way understaffed when it’s packed feel bad for the staff during busy nights.

Lets just start this off by saying i love this bar! they always have live music and the best happy hour! my favorite drink would be the lavaflow rumfloat! a few of those will have you where you need to be to have a good time! I love the vibe here, the only downside is the seating and the amout of space there is. This place is very popular so it is usually crowded with people and there is very few tables and chairs to sit. the place is usualy so crowded that you cannot even get to the bar to get a drink! on the other hand i been there recently and was not a fan of the bartenders, there was a gentleman who seen me standing at the bar for over 15 minutes ready to order a drink and he just kept skipping me to serve other people who were a little more pushy than i was being, so I waited an additional 10 minutes before walking away and just ordering a drink thru one of the girls walking around serving drinks! if you plan to have a good time and good service get there early to snatch a seat and a server, around 11pm the place is usually packed with people out the gates!

Usually crowded on the weekends. However, a comfortable relaxing ambiance on Tuesdays. Come and enjoy 8 dollars domestic pitchers. Great deal to share with friends or family. Live music as well for all the hungry ears out there.

Friday nights! Ha! Do you want island music with a side of headache inducing frozen beverages? How about pitchers and pitchers for beer on happy hour prices all night? You want to see the«crowd» that’s surfing??? And I don’t mean the kind that involve a surf board. Ha! Well in short: if you want to «see» where all the local dudes go on a Friday night, drop by here! You will be one of two dozen girls in a bar full of dudes! Their food is ok on happy hour. As well as drinks! Definitely much cheaper than the other location. Its right smack in the mall so it gets busy often. Free parking! Yea! Their normal prices aren’t as great for what you get happy hour is worth it. I’ve been here for early evening happy hours which were much friendlier. At night, its a different story. Luckily, I never came here looking for a man so I’m good. Not sure how the rest does it. I have been here with some single friends visiting and it was quite interesting. «Don’t dance like a white girl» comment was heard a few times. Luckily, we have guy friends with us every time we came so nobody really bothered us too much. I do like the music. Its fun even though you cant really find a place to dance. The drinks are sugary and strong, the place is jam packed! Music is loud. It’s very casual! You know what you are going to get when you come here. Just be prepared and dive in!

I really dig this place for Happy Hour. And of all locations, it’s at the mall. Kind of strange, but it works! Conveniently located on the 4th floor of the shopping center, you almost feel like you’re on the rooftop of a fancy smanchy hotel right off of Waikiki beach. There are actually two happy hours on the daily: Hang Ten from 4−7pm. Drink specials and food for $ 5.50. $ 1 tacos on Taco Tuesday!!! So yum! Late Night Happy Hour from 8−11pm. Beer pints at $ 3, Pitchers for $ 9. Specialty drinks at $ 5.00. Best part? Live entertainment from 4−7pm and 9:30pm-12:30am! You can put a song request in too, just be sure to leave a tip. Friday nights almost feel like you’re at a club. The locals must frequent this space often because it was jam packed. They remove all tables and chairs in the center, around 10pm, for standing room. So, if you just ordered food and a pitcher of beer, beware! It’ll be difficult to find table space(that’s why I docked a star off). The security staff just come right up and literally start picking up and moving furniture out. Free parking, no cover charge, good eats, drinks, and live entertainment make for a great evening in Honolulu.

Nice way to unwind after work or a day of touring the island to have some good ol’ Mai Tai drinks while listening to a live local band. I really enjoyed the Mai Tai’s and the appetizers here. The place was full when we arrived with our party of 10+ and by the end of our first round of drinks the place was packed. It does get pretty loud especially sitting near the band. So if you want to hear your conversation sit closer to the entrance area.

Not a bad place for a casual meet up with friends and grabbing a few drinks. Located at the Ala Moana Mall, it’s in a centralized location and there is plenty of mall parking. Thankfully, we’ve always managed to get seats. But, this place can really get packed! The drinks are reasonable and the food is decent. My favorites are the mai tais and lychee martinis for drinks and the calamari and wings to snack on. The food isn’t really notable. But, we are talking bar food here. Though I do like how open the bar is(no walls), when it’s hot and sweltering, you’ll be hot and sweltering. The fans help, but not by a whole lot. After 4pm, it’s 21 and up, so don’t plan to have a family dinner here. Overall, it’s a great HH place, for sure.

Came here to rest my feet and to kill my thirst with a cold beer !!! This is the MOST horrible experience ever as the guy on the next table kept using swear words and hassling me and when I’ve asked him politely to stop, he was taking pictures of me !!! I’ve called the manager and she was useless questioning me as if I did something wrong ! Than I realised she knew this creepy guy !!! I was so close to calling police to stop him harassing me in the middle of the Ala Moana mall in a day light !!! This is picture of how low class this place is !!! A tourist trap !!!

Good place for a pau hana get together for some pupus and drinks after work. Chill atmosphere and they usually have some sort of live musician. Servers are nice, menu is pretty standard to what you would find at a bar. My favorites: Chicken Cesar salad. I know who eats a salad at a bar? They toss the salad in the dressing already and give you lots of croutons and chicken. Strawberry Swell drink. Sweet and sour girly drink. Because we usually end up going during happy hour I’ve tried pretty much everything on the happy hour menu. Their calamari has gone downhill since I first started coming here. A few pieces of squid with mostly battered and fried peppers. They should rename this dish fried peppers and not fried calamari. I’ve come a few nights during live band nights. It can get pretty crowded and loud so come expecting that.

March 16, 2015 — Monday night off from work and I did my rounds of walking at Ala Moana Shopping Center. I even got my free ice cream cone from Dairy Queen on their 75th Birthday. I made my way to the Ho’okipa Terrace where Mai Tai Bar is located and ended up at the lounge area near the public restrooms. I needed to get my cellphone charged for a bit. As I am sitting down on the seat I can hear the live music being performed between the hours of 4pm to 6pm. The first happy hour for customers. Once i got my cellphone charged up I decided to head on over to Mai Tai Bar. I found a seat at the bar. The bartender asked me «What would you like to drink?» «Lychee martini,» was my reply. I’m watching the bartender make my drink and I’m thinking… I recognize this guy. He looks so much like Kalani only with short hair. The bartender hands me my drink and asked«Would you like to keep a tab or pay as you go?» «Start a tab for me please. Could I also order popcorn shrimp» was my reply. The bartender puts in my order and prints up a receipt to put in a cup. I glanced at the receipt and found out that the server’s name is Kalani. Dang… Kalani still works here and I have not seen him in under 5 years. I had a total of 4 Lychee martini drinks. Drinks were alternately prepared by Kalani and a second bartender(sorry don’t know his name). My last lychee martini drink happened to be around the 8pm hour and it was $ 2.00 cheaper than my previous drinks. Second happy hour just started and ends at 10pm. Another live music performance just started. Mai Tai Bar… what a way to enjoy my night off from work. Excellent services by the bartenders and live music to listen to while eating some pupus. I just need to remember to come during happy hour to get the discounted price on drinks and pupus. I’m also happy that my favorite bartender Kalani still works for Mai Tai Bar.
