So I use to go to Shy 207(previous name) whenever I was in the mood for bubble tea during my lunch break at work. But I hadn’t gone there in awhile until recently when I found out they changed the name to Refresh and I’m guessing new owners? I saw that they were doing a buy 1 get 1 deal for bubble tea and flavored tea drinks. so I was like score! And got my friend a free bubble tea :) We both just ordered a regular milk tea with bubble. I would say it was pretty good. not too sweet. but the flavor wasn’t as milky my fav bubble tea place Lin’s. But for the buy 1 get 1 free it was a good deal nonetheless. Anyways I was craving for bubble tea again yesterday. this time I wanted green milk tea. I walked to Refresh during my lunch break and asked if they had green milk tea even though it wasn’t on the menu. The lady said yes she would just use green tea instead of black tea. I said okay. She kind of questioned me though saying«oh you don’t like black tea huh?»… and I thought to myself. mmm I do but just in the mood for GREENMILKTEA! It’s surprising they don’t have it on the menu since most bubble tea places do have green milk tea. right? I also opted for a mango iced tea since they were still doing the buy 1 get 1 free deal. Hey why not right? It’s free. I specifically told her I wanted bubble in the green milk tea and nothing in the mango tea. I guess she didn’t hear me or wasn’t really listening cause she put them in both. well actually I don’t even know if it was bubble/tapioca because it was different. like it tasted like old squooshy tapioca balls. And I know it wasn’t boba or tea jelly. I was confused as to what it was… cause it still had the same texture of tapioca balls but just softer. The first time I had ordered bubble tea, the tapioca balls were normal… so I don’t know if these were tapioca balls or something else? I wasn’t too thrilled about my drinks but was too lazy to bother and complain. I was also disappointed in the green milk tea… although it had a green tea taste. it was like a little too bitter for me. I tend to like my milk teas just a tad bit sweeter. I even asked her if it was still going to be sweet and she said yes. I took a couple sips and decided I didn’t want to drink it anymore. I just drank the mango tea which was pretty good and refreshing. It wasn’t a big deal to me that I wasted one of them just because it was free anyway! I’ll probably come back here just because it’s so conveniently located near my work place and also to try the other flavors but I think I’m going to be more clear on my orders.

There aren’t a lot of places in downtown that serve milk tea. When my co-workers discovered this place, we’ve been coming here for our weekly afternoon milk tea fix. They have a «buy one get one free»(for milk teas only) promotion happening till the end of June 2011. The location of this shop isn’t so great. It’s by the smelly bus stop near what used to be a Price Busters. The service is slow because they only have one staff and I think that might also be the owner. The taste of their milk tea is very fragrant. I think it’s a combination of jasmine and green tea. If you don’t like the flowery taste then i suggest going with one of the flavored milk teas. The regular price of the milk tea is a little over $ 3 but because they have the promo going on it’s about $ 1.50.

To my downtown people, does anyone remember a coffee and tea shop by Leo Taverna called Shy 207??? Well, the owners sold the shop and now it’s called Refresh. The menu is similar but unfortunately, it wasn’t all that refreshing. I was walking around downtown and I was really craving a milk tea drink. It’s been awhile since I’ve gone to that little shop so I decided to pay them a visit. I learned it’s under new owners and she was explaining their summer special; buy one get one free. I wasn’t going to get a second drink for myself but she offered so I accepted it. I ordered two milk teas, no boba, light sugar. I saw her frantically looking in her freezer for ice but nothing was fully set yet. After some time, she apologized for the lack of ice because it was busy earlier so I couldn’t get my second drink but instead I get a dollar off my original drink. That was my first disappointment because she hyped me to getting a second drink. My drink was weird beyond weird. First of all, it was still ridiculously sweet so that was another disappointment. The drink had a funky mixture of coffee and tea. It tasted mostly like coffee with a faint hint of tea in between sips. Needless to say, it was gross. I would have went back to have it remade but I knew she didn’t have enough ice. First impressions are important for a new business but Refresh left much to be desired for me. Also, if you’re going to own a shop that requires lots of ice to make your products, invest in an ice maker, kthx.
