Went there for lunch on a whim, and everything was delicious – and adorable, to boot. The Cobb salad was a nice mix; nothing new and spectacular but still very yummy all the same. And the macaroons! They were so good! Not too sweet~ The prices aren’t too unreasonable either, unlike the Tango restaurant. Tango Market’s staff that day were super friendly and helpful. Thank you guys so much for making our lunchtime so lovely! This little restaurant is ideal if you’re looking for a casual lunch in a clean, well-lit environment. The décor is pretty minimal but in a way that suits the general atmosphere, since it’s more like a café than anything else. Nothing about this place was blow-your-mind, out-of-this-world different or unique, but it’s the perfect little café for a chilled-out lunch, and the staff made it all the more pleasant.

I typically end up here when they have BBQ cooking in the back. That day is usually a Friday. The BBQ late is reasonable with its offering: ribs, chicken, corn bread, and slaw. With a thai tea on the side and some water, i’m cruising. Not bad as a selection in the area if you want typical café offerings(they have macarons here as well but I have never tried them). They bring the food to your table and have outdoor seating. Nothing over the top with this one.

My mom and I love finding new places to have tea! Their Afternoon Tea setup is both delicious and filling besides being a great price! I will most definitely be back with my girlfriends.

1STIMPRESSION: «This place reminds me of Kissaten» A random pick while scouring the ward area, the bf and I have always passed this little café without a second thought. However this time, we decided to stop by and smell the coffee… The menu is small, they have a special of the day, some sandwiches and salads to choose from, and some ono looking desserts! On the the other end of the counter, there is a good looking menu of different coffees to choose from. I picked out the pesto chicken sandwich – it comes with either a side of greens or the pasta salad, I chose the greens. The bf chose the special soup/sandwich – but they were out of soup so they substituted a salad instead(odd how it was just the beginning of the lunch shift and they were already out). We also order a coffee and an iced mocha with our meals. The prices were decent, about $ 8 for a sandwich and about $ 9 for the specials. The regular coffee came out in a cute mug/saucer and looked too dainty in the bf’s hands! My mocha just came in a regular plastic cup. If you dine in, they use real dishes that you need to put in the designated area after you finish so the next customers can enjoy your table! The place is small, but nicely done, there are only 6 tables in the store, but there is also outside tables if thats your thing. Its a nice place to sit and chat, or even study for a little while. I like the Buble-esque music in the background. The food is decent. It was nice and healthy to satisfy my health conscious mind, tasty enough to satisfy my stomach. I would be interested to try the pasta wednesdays and the sunday brunch every keeps talking about! However, I may be comparing it to other places in my mind, similar to this place. Overall: Definitely a nice place to relax, read a book, enjoy a healthy meal, and socialize. Will definitely be back to try some of the other offerings like pasta wednesdays and afternoon tea!

When I want to grab a quick bite before work or if I’m in the Ward area, I usually end up here. I think their food is on the«healthier» side, with a lot of sandwiches and salads. Their menu is limited and seems like they rarely change it. When you first walk in, it is kind of set up like starbucks whereas you order your food and find your own seat(limited indoors). They give you numbers so they can deliver your food to your table whether you are dining in or taking out. There is a lot of outdoor seating, but who likes to sit outside when its hot and their doing construction across the street? Not me. If there is seats available indoors, save your seat quickly. I highly recommend it! There isn’t servers that come to your table so be sure to throw away your own plates(in respect to the next customer). I like to order the chicken pesto sandwich. It consists of toasty bread with warm piece of chicken breast and pesto spread. It comes with a handful of romaine lettuce and I think balsamic vinaigrette. It was about $ 7 – 9 which I thought was a pretty decent price for the tastiness of everything. They also serve coffee, tea, espressos, and other drinks you would find at a café. I love raspberry, so I usually get the raspberry iced tea. They have desserts that looked delicious such as macaroons and little cups that were filled with flavored mousse. The service wasn’t that great. Although, there was this one guy that is usually working and is the friendliest of the bunch. If its your first time, you order from where the desserts are, not at the register(I didn’t know that), unless you’re just ordering a drink. I would definitely like to try other items than my usual sandwich. They have a duck quesadilla that looked delicious! I will be back soon!

I have been wanting to find a reason to come here every time I walk by during Honolulu Night Market. However, nighttime coffee doesn’t mix with me. When we found ourselves in the area for breakfast however, sign me up! Sundays are the better time to check in, with a full spread brunch available. I’m not sure if they would be busy then. They were empty on a Saturday morning. My husband ordered the breakfast pita while I ordered the breakfast burrito. The portions are small. We are talking ladies who gossip type small food. If you are starving, be prepared to be disappointed. However, I’m convinced Tango secretly caters to the senior crowd, which would explain the small portions and accompanying fruit cup. If I wasn’t watching the waistline, I would have ravaged their dessert display! Oh my gosh that looked so delicious. The food wasn’t bad, but wasn’t substantial. I don’t think I caught them at their best time though. I reserve the right to update this review after trying either their brunch or their tea spread.

I haven’t really had any of the food there that they have on a regular basis BUT i have had food catered and served at Tango Market for a Swedish event… because.yeah.the chef is FInish-swedish. The food we had catered was awesome! It tasted a lot like it does in Sweden and during christmas when the homesickness is at its worse nothing helps quite like having some swedish tasting food. I loved the ambience in the place and I loved how friendly and accommodating the staff was when we had our little event there. I have yet to go there on a regular day but I know the time will come for that too … until then I will keep the delish food in mind.

I’ve been frequenting Tango Market quite a bit these days. Instead of heading to Starbucks for a coffee meeting, I choose to pow wow at Tango Market because I’m doing my best to support local businesses. I think a little goes a long way and if more of us keep it local we can help more mom n’ pop business thrive! On my most recent visit I discovered what is now one of my favorite things to enjoy in the Ward area: Afternoon Tea!!! While meeting with my friend Cy C we both decided to take a chance on their afternoon tea which was advertised on a small dry erase board for $ 11.95. Since I started coming to Tango Market, the afternoon tea has been on my to-do list but the timing never quite worked out. It’s offered from 2 – 5 pm on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Saturday. A weird schedule but I guess they don’t offer afternoon tea when they have their Wednesday pasta specials and Friday patio BBQ. I am an afternoon tea freak. I’m convinced that I was British in my past life because I could have afternoon tea in the morning, for lunch, for dinner, aaaaaaand for dessert. That’s how much I love it!!! For $ 11.95 we were served: +Hot tea of our choice +Three finger sandwiches(gravlax & cream cheese, cucumber and arugula, ham & cheese) +A scone(blueberry I think) +Two small fruit tarts +Two chocolate covered strawberries For $ 11.95?! That’s got to be the best high tea deal in town! Like two old ladies enjoying afternoon tea(yes, I’m proud about my past life regression) we delighted in the quality of the pastries which our waitress confirmed are all made in house. The sandwiches weren’t fancy but I still enjoyed the simplicity of them. The scone practically melted in your mouth and the tarts and strawberries were scrumptious! I can’t wait to go back again and again and again and again! I’d honestly rather skip lunch and wait til 2 pm so I can have afternoon tea. It’s like going on vacation without having to pack my bags! Girls outing. Grandma date. British life past regression. Pure me time. All perfect reasons why you should have afternoon tea with me at Tango Market this week! Let me know when we’re going and I’ll bring my British accent!

It seems that every time I come here, it just gets better. I came in for Sunday brunch and had the ham and egg croissant with mushrooms. It was so good. I want to eat another one just thinking about it. It came with a side of fruit(grapes, cantaloupe, and honey dew melon). My boyfriend got the breakfast burrito that had potatoes in it. His was good, but we agreed that the croissant was better. It is a must try!

They’re conveniently located at Ward Centers with lots of parking available and indoor/outdoor seating. They have a wide variety of selections on their menu, preferably for lunch or a snack. I got to experience the flavors of Tango Market from an event that my work place threw for a high-end clientele event. We ordered pastries, sandwiches, and a few desserts. The best item I tasted was their brownies!!! They have the best brownies on the island. It has just the right chocolate, sugar, crunch, and is cooked to perfection! If you’re having some brownie cravings, this is the place!

The food that this place offers is EXCELLENT, the only reason I give it 4 stars is because you may experience a longer wait than you would wish for, due to the limited number of staff working. One time I waited about 30 mins for my food. However, I LOVE the grilled chicken pesto sandwich with green side salad. For $ 8.90, this is a perfect lunch meal, filling, healthy, delicious, and not very expensive. I had this for lunch 4 days in a row and was not sick of it! The cheesecakes they sell are a little too sweet for my liking and a bit pricey at $ 3.95. Pasta Wednesday is good, but when I went last night at about 6:30 p.m. they had run out of chicken breast :( I think this place deserves a higher rating than 3.5 stars overall. The food is such good quality and the options are healthy. I love it!

I want to like this place more than I do. Which isn’t to say I don’t enjoy stopping in from time to time, but is to say that when a friend invited me to lunch there today, I sighed and thought about the many other places I would have liked just a bit more. Today I had the gravlax sandwich. Lovely thick slices of salmon curled around fresh tomato and stacked with cucumber and hard boiled egg. All of this sits atop a thick slice of Finnish rye bread so tasty that I buy it by the loaf. Sadly, the sandwich is topped with what they call«mustard dill sauce» but which I would call«honey mustard with dill sauce» instead. I deconstructed the open faced sandwich, blotted the salmon, and enjoyed. Should I ever eat here again, I will remember to order this without the sauce. Luckily, I also had a lovely iced latte. The coffee was strong, but smooth, and kept me going for the rest of the afternoon. I have also tried the shepard’s pie and the curried meat pie. Both had a nice flavor, but were far too oily for my taste. My lesson? Stick with the coffee and the breads. I really do order the Finnish rye by the loaf. I slice it thick, and freeze it fast. Then I pull it out, a slice at a time, toast it, and then add a thick slice of butter and some jam. Delicious any time of day!

My coworker and I stopped by Tango Market for a late lunch. There were two people working the counter. One person was attending to a group of Japanese tourist and the other helped us. The first thing which caught my eye was the BBQ but it wasn’t available yet so I opted for the curry meat pie. I asked that they cut my curry meat pie in half before toasting because I wanted half of it to-go. We were on a time crunch and were told that it would take only five minute for our food. My friend and I paid separately but they packed both of our orders into one bag. No big deal, except this lead me to miss out on my side of mango chutney that comes with the meat pie. To make matters worse, I ended up getting both pieces toasted! While I loved my experience at Tango Café, all I can say about Tango Market is that I’m not rushing back any time soon.

Sunday brunch is served all day at Tango Market, and for whatever reason even though I had read Unilocal reviews, I thought brunch at this contemporary café was code for«buffet.» But, alas, such was not the case, though the menu is a mix of breakfast choices(breakfast burrito, croissant, biscuits and gravy, waffles, muesli, fresh fruit) and lunch items including sandwiches and salads. I selected the muesli with soy milk and had I remembered the reviews better, I would have chosen a cup instead of the bowl. It’s a hearty serving topped with crunchy walnuts, fresh sliced strawberries, whole blueberries, and diced honeydew melon and pineapple. A warning to the lactose intolerant, the grains are pre-soaked in milk, so this is not a vegan dish. To balance out the sweet, I ordered a side of turkey sausage. When the three little pieces appeared, my friend commented that they looked like frozen Jimmy Deans … not that there’s anything wrong with that but they did taste like they had been microwaved. One friend ordered the biscuits and gravy served with lox, another ordered the breakfast croissant(ham & scrambled eggs) and another had just the cheddar and dill biscuits with the rich mushroom gravy. I would go back just for this southern comfort dish. More than the food, we enjoyed the bright ambience that made us want to stay and relax in the air-conditioned comfort. In addition to the brunch menu, there were pastries and a large selection of coffee drinks. I’m intrigued by their dinner menu and a refrigerator case full of pretty, dainty desserts in cups, so Tango Market is on my must-go-back-and-try list!

Okay, this place is kind of interesting; I came here for breakfast the other day with my family and I did like their food. However, I didn’t really understand(and I still sort of don’t understand) why they call it a «market.» It’s more of a café-type institution. But I just found out that they have a sister/main place that already has the word«café» in it(Tango Contemporary Café). So I guess they needed to call it something different. But«market» is just kind of confusing. Maybe not misleading. Just confusing. But to more important stuff – the food! I had breakfast so I have no idea how the rest of their menu is, but their food is good. My mother ordered the muesli – it came with freshly cut fruit on top and was just so nice and pleasant and sweet. I ordered the french toast with strawberry compote. I enjoyed it; unlike lesser french toasts, Tango’s french toast was light and didn’t leave you feeling so groggy afterwards. Plus, the strawberry compote on top was a nice change from the usual butter and maple syrup that most places serve it with. There’s no actual waiter service; they call your number and you pick it up from the counter(i guess the«market» aspect to Tango Market?), and then you turn in your dishes before you leave. I have no real gripes about the place, though. I’ll try come back for lunch or dinner.

Tango Market features(Tango Contemporary Café) quality food at slightly cheaper prices. Service isn’t the friendliest or most helpful, but I’m willing to almost overlook that bc of the way things are set up. There’s no real«waiter» service; it’s more of an «order here» and«pick up there» kind of place. You buss your own table by placing used dishes and utensils in the designated bin(s). Breakfast runs until 11AM. In other words, salads aren’t available until lunch starts at 11AM. TURKEYSANDWICH — $ 9.50 This breakfast sandwich was thankfully not made with the often overused croissant. This sandwich was made on hearty toasted bread, with pesto, eggs, turkey, swiss, sun-dried tomato, and mayo. My sandwich was cut in half and laid out nicely next to a small and fresh fruit salad. There wasn’t as much turkey meat in the thing as I would have hoped, but at least there was a lot of egg. The pesto and sun-dried tomato are what I think separate this otherwise«ordinary» breakfast sandwich from the others I’ve had before. Overall, a pretty good breakfast sandwich. I’d probably order this again. COFFEEANDSUCH What I really like about Tango Market is that it’s pretty lax and laid back compared to its sister restaurant Tango Contemporary Café. There’s both indoor and outdoor seating, no real waiter service(like I mentioned earlier), grab-and-go type snacks and foods, and COFFEE. Yes, they have an espresso machine at Tango Market to barista-up whatever your heart desires. I’m an iced-latte-with-no-other-additives(NO sugar, syrup, or what have you) kind of girl, so that’s what I have. The espresso /coffee isn’t outstanding, but it’s good considering they don’t claim to be a coffee shop or espresso connoisseurs. VERDICT Tango Market is a nice, casual spot for breakfast, lunch or coffee. Service isn’t very attentive, alert, friendly, or quick. so if you go in with those expectations, you’ll be fine. LOL. At least you have the option of sitting either inside or outside.(I like the option of sitting outside bc I need to get my vitamin D in somehow…) I will be back one day after 11AM to try their delicious/healthy-looking salads. This place is pretty good, but pricey. I went for the first time on a wednesday for build your own pasta night. $ 10.50 for a bowl of pasta, good deal right… maybe if you just want noodles and sauce, nothing else. The add-ons is what’ll get u. Want a delicious yet wafer thin slice of garlic bread? Thatll cost you. Want some sauteed mushrooms in your pasta? That’ll cost you. Though I love the idea and the taste of the food was decent, my pasta came out to $ 17 because I added garlic, mushrooms, and chicken. :/ My girlfriend who eats here ALLTHETIME said she loves the duck quesadilla and their sunday brunch. So I definitely plan on returning. The staff was ‘ok’, the food was decent(I like the variety, but taste wise it was just good but not omg drool kinda good), and theres good seating and parking. Will definitely return to give their food another chance.

I’ve looked high and low for Afternoon Tea places… and either, they aren’t open when I want them to be open, or cost an arm and a leg. So yes… they use a packaged tea bag for the tea, but I still enjoyed the whole Afternoon Tea feel. It was great! Fingerling sandwiches, a scone, and great sweet treats! And much much more affordable than those other places. I’ll definitely be back for Afternoon Tea again! Unilocal 365 Challenge #222/365
