The Brewseum

What a great place! I went on a Tuesday evening – it was quiet but not empty. We played «Tailhook» and had a great time. The pizza is good, but wish they had a larger selection. I had the 442 Red Ale and thought it was very good. This place is definitely on my list for repeats!

Cool environment, aviation themed. No food, so eat before you get there and don’t act all pissy when you realize they don’t serve dinner to go with all the beer you drink. Beer is 3.8÷5. Free popcorn machine is awesome.

Amazingly fun place! I went on trivia night Wednesday so it was a blast. I played for Team Pley which is the awesome Unilocal team. What’s better than beer, trivia, and Unilocalers? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. Their house beer, the Pilot Pale Ale, was very smooth and delicious. I would definitely recommend. You also get $ 1 off when you check-​in with Unilocal.
Something I love about this place is that there is complimentary popcorn! What’s better than that? They also have yummy soft pretzels that they serve with 3 different sauces. My only complaint would be that there isn’t enough food options. I mean I understand that it’s a beer place, you go there for beer. But I still missed having some quality grinds to munch on while I sip my beer. The pretzel was good, but not anything to write home about.
Overall, I really enjoyed this experience and will definitely be back!

I enjoyed my time at the Brewseum especially because they were hosting trivia! I love activities in a bar. It is like drinking with purpose! Also there was so much eye candy on the walls, hanging from the ceiling, in the bathrooms. I had a cider, a hard root beer, and their locally brewed pale ale. The root beer tastes like a regular root beer and that is dangerous. The cider was spicy and delicious. Their pale ale was perfect to balance out the sweet stuff I had imbibed. I also ordered a pretzel which was soft and fluffy; the best part was three different styles of mustard for me to dip into.
I will be back to investigate this scene further!

Hands down the greatest bar in the history of WW2 themed bars! It’s got the informative feel of a museum, yet the fun and light atmosphere of a fun bar. Everyone who works there is great, they provide a much needed service to the island and should be considered a historical landmark. They also have live music which is cool if you aren’t deaf like me. They also give out free cake on Wednesday, but you gatta know the secret phrase which is as follows «gimmie cake, gimmie cake, I like cake, gimmie cake». It sounds weird I know but its the best cake ever! A+++++++

This was stop #2 on our Paradise Pedals tour and was definitely the best of the 3. WW II themed interior with cold drafts, it fit the bill after a few minutes of hard peddling.
From the signage they have some daily specials — Tail Hook Thursday’s for instance, and the beer selection is pretty good and mostly drafts. The wheat beer was quite good.
Grab a bowl of popcorn on the way in, order a beer and be transported to Honolulu in WW II.

Parking is a nightmare. Just bite the bullet and park in a garage several blocks away and walk in. Especially if it’s for trivia on Wednesdays, which is standing room only by 5:30pm.
The beers are great, especially the ones they make in house like the 442 Go For Broke Ale. And the trivia is fun and well run. It’s decorated nicely and has lots of old military memorabilia on the walls and ceiling.
I’d go more frequently if parking weren’t such an issue.

This is a cool bar located in Kakaako. This was one of our stops and we had a couple of beers (I am a fan of the hard root beer!) there is also a pop corn machine right by the door which is not only neat but also a total hit for the drunkies. Although, I cannot speak for their food, the couple next to us seemed to enjoy (bar food) it, therefore, I will save that review for later.
Lastly, the interior is just super DOPE! Hands down to originality, brilliance, individuality and style of the owner of Ding Kingdom.
All in all, a must check out. A Must!

Super fun nostalgic atmosphere. Lots of old WWII and military items for décor. Bartender is super pleasant. Picnic table seats not too comfy though.

A hole in the wall bar located near café duckbutt, with a WW2 theme. The bar itself is very small with a few tables and a jeep inside as seating. The beer menu is actually larger than I expected as they have a few rotating taps as well as bottles. They also have some bar food items as well. There’s free popcorn!
They have live entertainment as well on some nights. Parking can be hard but usually at night there are spots that you can park right out front.
Cool décor with airplanes and trains going around. Service was decent but sometimes hard to track down given how crowded and loud it was.

I found this place via Unilocal while we were on vacation on Honolulu. It’s definitely off the tourist path in an industrial/​auto area with impossible parking. We ended up parking at a meter for an hour, but when that was up one of the bartenders guided us to park closer (I guess after hours, the «no parking» signs aren’t enforced). While the tap list is short, everything is good! We happened to be here on trivia night, which was quite fun as well. They also have free popcorn!
Tons of stuff to look at around the places, WWII mementos and collectables scattered around to create a unique themed brewery/​bar. It does appear they are starting their own brewery, but while we were there, nothing of theirs was on tap, so perhaps this is still in the works.
It’s family run and lots of fun!

God I love this place. I really enjoy it when I am transported to another time and\or place. I am a little bit of a history buff and this place just brings it home.
The place may not be easy to find. Many park their cars at Sport Authority then walk over. I’ve done it a few times, not too bad a walk when it’s not raining. Most of the time, I’m there before they open at 5pm and able to park right in front.
I do like that it’s a family bar. I can bring G here and I don’t have to worry about anyone getting wild and women going wild. It is PG safe. And, they have drinks, non-​alcoholic, they can order. G likes the ginger ale. One night, trivia night, he went through 5 of them. It was a hot night but we won.
The décor on the outside and inside is astounding. Love their logo, 50s hula girl over star and motto «Home of the Brave». The rocket, outside, plummeting down to ground zero gives you a sense of urgency to get in quickly and pour down the hatch. That could be the last one. Inside you’ll find different planes flying about, actual jeep, the USO stage where many have been entertaining to say the least. Also, the working lantern (see pic) and at the counter in the back are the olé’ radio phones used back then. Putting the helmets on while sitting in the jeep makes great selfies as you can see. Way too much fun. lol
Now, the beer. It’s not a big wide selection but there is quality. And, if you’re not sure what to get then it’s best you get the sampler, 5 mini glasses served in a propeller. That is the coolest ever. You choose what goes in the glasses from their selections of what’s on tap. In the bottle though, I did like that pineapple hard cider. It is a little on the sweet side and there is a mild bitterness to it. Their beer, pilot pale ale, is actually good. The last few times I was there and ordered it to only hear they were out and hoping to get a new shipment in soon. I guess the word is getting out. Good for them.
I’m not one for checking in but if you do save a buck. You can easily earn your wings. Ask for a stamp card or grab one when you’re at the register. Once you visit 5 times, you earn your wings. They give you the gold wings you can wear and then they take your pic for prosperity and show it on the TV from time to time. Just make sure you’ve had several bottles before taking the picture. Trust me, it comes out a whole lot better and we get a good laugh. lol

This is the most unique and fun bar I’ve ever stepped foot in! I was shocked to see toys zipping around the place, telephones you could pick up and listen to, an old jeep you can sit in and all the amazing photos from World War II all over the walls. Their beer is very delicious and the atmosphere is exciting! They play good old classic tunes, serve cheese balls and popcorn and have everything under the sun you’d ever want to look at. The ambiance and service is top-​notch. Grab some friends and a table!

I love the Brewseum! Been here a few times now and have had great beer and a blast every time. Free popcorn when you come in, amazing ambiance, endless interesting WWII memorabilia, and an awesome staff. The bathrooms put all other bar bathrooms to shame. You can sit in a jeep instead of at a table. I mean, come on.
I’ve started going to their Wednesday trivia nights when I can fit it in, and they are way too fun! I get a little bit intense the more beer I have in me, but they’re all in good fun, and the host is great at his job!
As far as food goes, they serve a delicious pepperoni or cheese pizza and pretzels with three… Yes, three different kinds of mustard. And I love mustard.
Basically, this is my favorite bar by far, and I would highly recommend checking it out.

I am a huge craft beer fan and love to try new beers all the time. I always support the local beer and brewery whenever I see them at the bar. Coming from the Northwest and experiencing the beer culture out there versus the northeast coast gave me a true appreciation for places that support local beers. Brewseum also supports that belief!
I went with a few friends during trivia night and didn’t realize they don’t really have a food menu. The pizza we ordered was good enough for 2 people, but tastes similar to an Ellios or a microwaved pizza put in the oven.
I tried an English brown ale and one of the local porters. The beers were both fantastic and came out quickly despite the crowded restaurant. Maybe it’s something I have to get used to, but $ 8 for a craft beer is a little expensive. Just a week ago I was having craft beers for $ 4 in Ewa!
Trivia night was crowded and I wasn’t a huge fan of trivial pursuit questions. But regardless the host made it entertaining and fun for everyone who played.
They have free popcorn to snack on and water cups with water machine. The inside is filled with war memorabilia and even a WWII jeep you could sit in and drink! Parking is horrendous, good luck if you find free parking.

This place was so cool! I mean the deco, the style and the whole feel transports you to another era where america was much more… American!
There’s not a huge selection of tap beer but the ones they have do it just fine. There’s a double IPA that can get you pretty tipsy real quick!
If you’d like to try other local flavors then they have some bottled options that will satisfy most.
Forget about sitting on a table, get the jeep! Go and make America proud, soldier!

There are unique brews on tap and the atmosphere is a must see. Skip the food and grab a cold brew!

I am writing this review on behalf of myself and for my grandparents (there 87 and can’t really work technology).
I have been to the bar here once before and really enjoyed it so when my grandparents flew out from California for my graduation I recommended that they stop by the Brewseum. They love WWII museums and they love alcohol so I thought it would be perfect, little did I know how perfect it would be. They went without me the first time and I was nervous because there both 87 and don’t move the greatest. They said they enjoyed it and that they had a very exciting time because they had a black out while they where still there. According to them, the staff never missed a beat, they kept on serving alcohol, the musician kept on going in the dark, and it was fun. They also told me that the staff there was kind to them and even gave my grandfather a WWII vet hat, which actually got them discounts at a bunch of places the rest of their stay.
On their last day I asked where they wanted dinner and they said they wanted to go back to the Brewseum. We went back and I have never seen my grandparents so happy, they where drinking beers, telling old stories, but the best part was how nice everyone there was, not just the staff, but the customers too. We had at least 4 different customers walk up to my grandfather and ask to shake his hand and thank him. It was really touching for me to see them so happy.
I really wanted to say thank you to the Brewseum for making my grandparents trip so enjoyable. If your a vet, a WWII fan, a beer drinker, tourist or local, I would highly recommend stoping by at such an amazing place.

When you hear the name «Brewseum,» you think it’s going to be a museum about beer, but ACTUALLY, is a World War II museum that sells beer! Not quite the same thing, but still lots of good times!
Parking:
Street parking only. HORRENDOUS. If you’ve ever been to Café Duck Butt (which is on the next block), then you’ll know how awful street parking is in this particular area of Kaka’ako. We ended up parking next to Imperial Plaza a number of blocks away, but I know people that just park at Ward & walk over (shh!).
Ambiance:
Like I said, it’s a WWII museum, or to be more specific, it’s attached to a WWII museum owned by the Tomlinson family! They run tours and all that stuff, too. You don’t have to go through that if you just want beer, but you can’t escape all the WWII memorabilia and décor that’s EVERYWHERE you look! Model planes hanging from the ceiling, a train set going around near the ceiling, propeller blades hanging over the bar, etc.
There are a couple of high-​tops and counters agains the walls w/​stool seating, but all the floor seating is panic table style! So you may have to suck it up and share (just make a new friend, come on!). They even have a military jeep from WWII in the bar that you can sit in, wear hats/​helmets & take pictures in!
Food & Drink:
Beer, wine & water. If you’re looking for cocktails or soft drinks, you’ll be out of luck! They offer 8 – 9 beers on tap and a short list of bottles or canned beers. The fun part is when they run out of one particular tap, they sometimes announce it w/​a microphone & then tell you what they’re replacing it with!
As far as food, this isn’t the reason why you’re visiting, so don’t expect there to be much. They offer free popcorn that they pop themselves in their own popcorn machine (to the left of the door when you enter), and if you’re lucky, they’ll have Coscto cheese balls available, too, lol! Let’s be real, both of these taste good with beer & they’re both free, so no complaining! They also offer Soft Pretzels ($ 4) & pizza ($ 10 for cheese; $ 12 for pepperoni) in case you need a little more to go on!
Trivia Night:
Found out on accident that they have Trivia Night every Wednesday night! 6 rounds of 10 questions, and they start at 6pm! The night we were there, it was a pretty full house, and we were just glad that we had gotten there 30min before the place really filled up. They provide the answer sheets & pencils, and they run the questions & answers using a powerpoint & projector! It was surprisingly really fun, and I would definitely go back for more!

This is the most fun bar I have ever been to! Really! This place is hopping! Maybe it’s because I was with some awesome Unilocalers, or maybe it’s because it just happened to be Trivia Night (Wednesday), but wow — it was GREAT!
I’m not a history buff — and this is a WWII themed place… I was intrigued because Brigette S. was so enthusiastic when she encouraged us to go! Thanks to Dan O. for saving us a night during his «work vacation» this week. He was another motivation for the six of us venturing to a new place together! It was the first visit to the Brewseum for us all — and probably not our last! We had all heard about it and read the reviews… it was time to check it out!
LOCATION/​PARKING
We got there early (5:30pm) & lucked out. Parked on the street (for free) in front of a business that had closed for the day. The stalls are not marked — it’s kind of a guess as to where each car should be as there were no real sidewalks. Our friends parked on Ward Avenue where it’s more «civilized».
FOOD/​DRINKS
We knew that there would be free popcorn and cheese balls — yay! Dan was kind enough to order us a Pepperoni Pizza — new menu item! YUM! Hot & fresh out of the oven! Also available are Soft Pretzels with condiments such as hot mustard (people next to us on the picnic bench had those). My coke in a retro bottle was just $ 2 and my Pineapple Hard Cider was just $ 5 — delicious!
SERVICE
Such Aloha Spirit! The brothers and sister who own and run this place are so friendly and efficient! We all felt welcomed and at home! The brother that ran the Trivia Game (6pm — 8:45pm) wore a crown which he really deserves because he manned the Power Point so well, emceed the show, and added up the scores from ten teams so smoothly!
NOTES
1. The restroom — make sure you go inside! Very cool/​hip, spacious, and clean!
2. Check in on our Unilocal app to get $ 1 off your bill!
3. Souvenirs are available such as t-​shirts, glasses, and bottle opener made out of a REAL bullet!
4. The big screen TVs are playing movies such as «ToraToraTora» and «Top Gun».
5. Sit in the real jeep, wear one of the hats, and take a picture!
6. Watch the toy trains and planes overhead — it’s like watching fish in an aquarium!
7. Check out the decorations and the «Missing Man Table», aka POW/​MIA Table, aka «Fallen Comrade Table» — to remember our fallen, imprisoned, and/​or missing Military members. Very awesome!
Thanks to Maka, Cathy, Leslie, Eric & Dan who made this excursion such a memorable one — they are SO SMART in Trivia! Our Team was 3^rd place at one time! Out of 6 rounds with 10 questions each, I only knew one answer! Hahaha! Mahalo nui loa!
