I visit this restaurant quite often because they have delicious food at an affordable price. Both their steamed rice and fried rice is tasty. I always get the mango chicken, and it cost an extra to add garlic sauce to it. Haven’t had their sushi lately, but it was very good when my friend and I had it last year. I must go back and try it again soon!

The old owner is retired in Nov. 2014 after a couple years of limited profit. It takes a lot to own a restaurant. Judging by the reviews, it seems the new owners do not know how to run/manage a restaurant.

This place is horrible! I’ve had better sushi from a late night kroger run. Had to throw everything out because we just couldn’t stomach it. The rice was super dry, and stale, and the fillings were mooshy and tasteless. I hate to leave such a negative review, but even after waiting well over an hour for the food(and even calling the restaurant and having them say we had it already) it finally came. At this point I had decided I wasn’t going to leave a tip.(I was that irritated.) But when the guy gave us the food he wouldn’t leave. He just stood there half inside the door. I went to close it but he leaned in so I couldn’t and without saying anything rubbed his fingers together asking for a tip. I wanted to slam the door in his face because we had already paid online. But my boyfriend reached out a gave him a dollar instead where he would leave. I’ll never order from them again.

Not much for delivery on this side of town and decided to try this place out. Yuck. Food was delivered in a timely manner, but a driver who made a racist comment to my face. Food tasted old and gross. Fish didn’t taste like fish. Lemon pepper tuna salad was in edible because there was nothing but pepper and and wilted lettuce. Sushi was no fresh at all. Thanks for the food poisoning! Save yourself the trouble and eat elsewhere.

Just got delivery from this place, the lady on the phone just got my card and order and hung up, ordered seaweed salad and Rock n roll sushi, the sushi was falling apart and the shrimp in the middle tasted bad, I feel like I paid 20 $ for crap.

I used to order from here all the time but I haven’t in about maybe 5 months. Ordered a order of wings & rice, Mongolian chicken, and Kung pow chicken with fried rice and 2 egg rolls and it was all nasty. Everything tastes like it was sitting under a heat lamp for 2 days and finally delivered the meat and onions in the Mongolian chicken was dry the chicken in the Kung pow chicken was dry and the fried rice was really dry, my food was barely even warm. I’m thinking they cut their costs like most restaurants do when they either want more money or need more money and just serve the cheap stuff now because this was nothing what I remembered the food to be. Last time I order from here

Had food delivery from here. I called and a lady picked up and took my order, address, and card info, rather in a rush. She didn’t ask for my name or number nor did she repeat and confirm my order so I was pretty sketched. You must order $ 15 worth for delivery. The order came within 20 minutes which was a plus. The delivery guy called and spoke in broken english saying he’s in «parking square». Went out of my building and didn’t see him so I called him and found out he was a few blocks away and I tried to tell him how to get to where I am but with his oh so darn good english, he didn’t understand. So I told him to wait as I run over to where he was. The receipt perfectly showed my address. It was like he didn’t even try to look at the building number. 4401 and 4238 is not the same -.- I ordered sesame chicken and sweet and sour chicken. It was lunch hour so the deal included rice, crab puff or eggroll, and soup. I got fried rice, crab puff and eggroll for the other, and hot&sour soup. It was just average. Nothing special at all. The sesame chicken was very sweet so I couldn’t even finish it. I wish I tried their sushi though. I would get another delivery but I don’t wanna risk having my calves burn of death as I run to his car because he refuse to try and find my place.

Honestly working out in the middle refineries and one craves Asian, there isn’t much choice. Since I happened to be at the office and needed to work through lunch I had it delivered. 2 $ charge for delivery and took them 45 min at around the lunch hour craze so not bad. Ordered spicy salmon and jalapeño yellow tail(9 $) which not bad. Rice made it not as great hence the deduction as well as not very flavorful soups but it was enough for my cravings to finish my egg drop soup. I also had the lunch general tso chicken(7 $). Crab ragoons were delish(needed the sauce though other than soy). Again the steamed rice was not so good but the chicken was pretty good. It was the perfect spicy. I’d say for the pricing and the availability of Asian I’d say it will do hence the 4 stars.

One of the best delivery places on the East End … considering there aren’t many.(Entrepreneurs, get on that! Serious desert over here.) Their online web ordering is kind of lame(though, they DID take out the credit card processing, so it’s much safer now.) — they have to call you to get the information anyway, so you may as well call in. Anyway, the food is alright for standard American-Chinese fare. They’ve recently gone up in price, so… 4 stars.

So… combine being really hungry and picking up a loved one from Hobby Airport and you get the belief that sushi in South Houston exists in the same way that you’ve experienced sushi in midtown… yeah, not so much. I could say more, but suffice it to say that 108 Asian Café may do other foods incredibly well, but sushi isn’t one of them. Buck up and make the drive. You’re welcome in advance :)

This place was bad and they should feel bad… Had a break between classes and wanted a place that offered sushi for lunch. Found 108 Asian Café… Ordered online and paid with credit. When I got there, about 25 minutes later, they did not have my order ready, nor did they even have my order in their system. When they finally found it, the price between the online ordering menu was different from the price in the store. So here I am, paying more for food than I thought I would have to, waiting for them to make my food though I had ordered 25 minutes prior and I notice there is only one lady in the entire restaurant. The cook was actually out on a food delivery… we haven’t even gotten to the worst part. The food was terrible! The salad was wilted and rotten, the soup tasted like feet… The sushi was the absolute worse that I have ever had. It actually smelled kind of rotten and tasted the same. The jalapeño in the sushi was actually green pepper. I sit here praying that I do not get food poisoning. Don’t go here. I don’t know what any of these other posters are talking about. This place ranks as one of the worse experiences I have had in Houston.

Rivals 888 for my favorite place to have chinese on the southeast side. The garlic beef was fantastically tender and flavorful and the fried rice was smoky just the way I like it. The lunch specials weren’t really clear, but I was told that everything on the lunch menu(including the dishes that are normally $ 7.95) are all $ 4.99 on Mondays. What a steal for a really decent portion. The façade is a little scary but once you get past the front door, the restaurant itself is very clean.

First off: map location on Unilocal is wrong. They project it to google and I have already filed a wrong location report. The actual restaurant is located down the street in the little strip mall surrounded by Mexican food. The owner speaks excellent English as well as Mandarin Chinese(Spanish speakers are welcome because someone there also speaks Spanish). You can ask her if you like to try some home made meals that is not offered on the menu. She will be glad to tell you the options. The next time I return I will make sure to try some of her home cookings. :)

Most days I try to live as if I were a Vulcan: rational, logical, and dispassionate with some wry comments thrown in.(Okay, I’ll be half-Vulcan.) Unfortunately, when I am ravenous, I become like Spock’s pon farr days in «Amok Time». Except that my madness is caused by food and not sexual urges. The latter is subject of another review, which a cheeky monkey like you may never see. Anyhoo, I was experiencing this food craze but didn’t want any of the usual suspects. A Unilocal search turned up this place with 9 reviews and I thought illogically that I should go over there since it was far from my normal haunts. Down Lawndale from the public Gus Wortham municipal golf course and slightly past the Lawndale Cemetery, this place has a bright yellow sign to help stand out from the rest of the visual clutter of the 8 other businesses in this strip shopping center. The tidy, cheerful interior was a welcome contrast to the jumbled exterior; the glass-topped tables were well kept and the chairs were sturdy with cushions encased in clear plastic — they exuded an attitude of «we’ve spent money on these but we don’t want you messing them up with your tatty Daisy Duke shorts». But, the scruffy neighborhood does seem to warrant this vibe so I don’t begrudge them this. Most of the other reviews focused on sushi, which I do not eat. So, I opted for a safe lunch special of Kung Pao chicken($ 6.55), paired with wonton soup, an eggroll, and steamed rice. The young gal who waited on me was polite and warm in taking the order. The wonton soup seemed a bit pale but a splash of soy sauce brought it up to snuff quickly. The entrée arrived with the eggroll; the rice was in a separate bowl. At first look, the entrée was disappointing — the brown sauce was more of a milk chocolate color, rather than the traditional mahogany look. Picking at it, I found that the chicken was boiled and lukewarm, the carrots and celery underdone, and the peanuts overcompensating in number. I switched to eating the eggroll with some rice while I pondered my next move. After a few minutes of not touching my entrée, Sherry noticed and asked me if everything was all right. In an even tone worthy of a Vulcan, I calmly said: «Not really. This version of Kung Pao isn’t really what I’m used to — and the chicken is boiled, not pan-fried like most other places. I’d like to offer you a choice:(1) we can substitute it for something else or(2) I can just pay you for this meal and close out the ticket.» She thought about it for a second then said that she had to run it by the manager. I nodded in my best Sarek of Vulcan impression. Within a minute, she returned and said that the manager was amenable to substitution — I asked for an even safer choice of sweet and sour chicken. No extra rice or another soup or eggroll was needed, I replied. The replacement was up to par for most Americanized Chinese food so it basically excelled to this low bar. Sherry thanked me for bringing this to their attention — she said that the chef was new and didn’t know the standard way of making this dish. While I’m dubious of not knowing how to make a very common dish, logic would say that the chef may have no experience with Americanized Chinese food. So, I nodded again like Sarek. Then, smiled in a distinctly un-Vulcan manner. But, it wasn’t creepy since I’ve practiced many times in the mirror.(This is a logical thing to do.) The food itself would warrant 3 stars. The bad Kung Pao version would deduct 1 star. But, the graceful accommodation gains them a star. Net of 3 stars. Would I recommend this place? Perhaps if you were in the neighborhood. Would I come back? Maybe — but only if one of my food crazes hits again and I’ve run out of local places to try. Live long and prosper.

Recently, my fiancé and I were looking for a restaurant to try. I have been craving sushi for a long time, and so we got on Unilocal and discovered 108. When we pulled up, I admit we were a bit wary, but as we neared the door, all our qualms vanished. The restaurant itself is very clean and frankly, pretty. There’s a beautiful painting on the wall, and the tables are all painted. The floor and tables and chairs are clean and not sticky or crumby. The woman who greeted us told us to pick a table and a waiter came over for our drink orders. Everyone working there was so nice and friendly and helpful. I was surprised by the cheap prices listed on the menu. Normally good sushi can be pricey, but here you can get fantastic sushi for a bargain. We placed our order(crispy roll or crunchy roll — I can’t remember the name, shaggy dog, and spicy tuna). Our food came out promptly and we began to devour it all. The spicy was a bit too spicy for me, but it was very, very delicious. My fiancé was glad it was a bit too spicy for me as that meant he got to eat a majority of it. Our favorite was the shaggy dog. It was so delicious! We will definitely be coming here again in the future. It’s been hard for us since moving to Houston to find a good, cheap sushi place. 108 certainly takes the cake! Everyone needs to give this place a shot. It’s a wonderful little restaurant, and I can promise you, you won’t be disappointed.

I was looking for some good sushi but I didn’t want to get stuck in traffic going to Café Japon on a Friday night, so I found this gem on Unilocal. When you drive up, you’re thinking twice about getting off because from the outside, it’s not very appealing, but once you’re in the restaurant, you will see that it is quaint and clean. I ordered Shaggy Roll and a JK Roll and it was DEVINE! It was the quality of an upscale sushi place, but half the price. Even my boyfriend liked the sushi and he doesn’t even like sushi. He ordered the mixed Lo Mein and it was soooooooo good and the egg rolls were nice and fresh. Give this place try, you will not regret it!

Good portion for the price. Food was served fresh and hot. Only problem was both orders appeared to have too much MSG.

Great price. Had the crunchy rolls which were 5.50 and portions that sell for 10 – 11 $ at other joints. Peppercorn tuna was fresh enough for the price. Don’t be turned off by the way it looks on the outside! Inside is neat clean and new. Staff is nice.
