I shopped here yesterday and loved it. I was looking for practical nursing clothing and nursing bras. The staff was very friendly and extremely attentive. They offered to fit me for the bras, which was the best experience! I told her what I wanted and she brought out all the options. She made sure they fit correctly, which turned out to be tricky as I was a different size, from bra to bra, even within the same brands.
Their nursing clothing is very clever in how it works and looks great on! I was worried I would find dowdy or very matronly looking clothes. I was pleasantly surprised to find comfortable clothes that look great on. The brand I loved most was also all very soft organic cotton.
Since the store has a very boutique-​y feel, I was worried the prices would be outrageous. I’m not saying it’s cheap, but I did Google the brands and found the same prices with other sellers and Amazon. I loved the experience and will return!

This place was perfect for me, I was able to get fitted for bras that made me comfortable my entire pregnancy and labor experience. They have a wonderful selection of nursing wear, baby bags, breast pumps, kids clothes, and so much more! Always enjoy stopping by here.

I live close by so I stopped by one day out of curiosity (and also being a Prenatal Chiropractor I love staying in the loop on local resources for my pregnant/​nursing mama’s!) The owner Gretchen was so sweet and helpful. She gave me a tour of the shop, and I was thoroughly impressed with their selection. They had a HUGE selection of nice looking nursing bras/​tops/​tanks and other equipment. They also have baby carriers, clothes, bags, and other accessories. They offer breastfeeding classes as well. I can’t wait to send my clients and friends to this great little shop!

I LOVE A WOMAN’S WORK!!! The service I received was wonderful. The associates are extremely knowledgeable and answered all my questions. I am a first time mom and I don’t know anything, the sales associates helped me get nursing bras and got me all signed up for my breast pump rental. I would give 5 stars but one of the 3 times I was here was a strange experience out of the twilight zone. However, even that time I left with exactly what I was looking for and what is now my favorite nursing bra. This is the place to go for all of your nursing bra needs, and if you need a pump rental or a baby wearing device. Gretchen showed me how to Moby correctly. Further, you can get friendly and knowledgable help with how to use any baby wearing items whether you bought them here or not. The last time I was there I was helped by some associate who measured me as 32G then gave me mostly 36E bras to try on, a ‘sister size.’ She insisted that was the best size despite it sliding up my back when I jump tested it and kept trying to get me into wired bras despite my letting her know that was not what I was interested in. When I thanked her and let her know I would not be buying that bra that day, one of the associates I had seen before when I rented the pump (who was the resident expert fitter, apparently) found the bra in the size I had measured as — which fit great. That took all of 5 min. I was running out of time by then, and pleasantly surprised to have found something since I had already resigned myself to having to try again another day. As I checked out, the first woman I had seen that day told me an inappropriate personal story about her recurrent miscarriages. I felt sorry for her having to work with happy new mothers in light of her losses and hope she has moved on and found a better fit since then. I sure wouldn’t want to come in and hang with happy new mothers of reasonably affluent status just after a horrible tragic loss of a baby, you know? … Anyway, I will definitely go back but if the woman who first fitted me is there, I won’t have that woman fit me for a bra because I don’t have enough free time to waste trying on stuff I don’t want in the wrong size and do not really go shopping to be asked to emotionally take care of strangers whose job it is to help me find stuff. I’ll just wait for the other woman to finish with whomever she is helping. Also, as much as it is flattering to be someone others are comfortable being vulnerable in front of, I don’t think personal stories of loss are appropriate in customer service. I told that woman I had one once too at 12 wks and that I was sorry for her loss and to realize it happens to many other women too but hey, life goes on and I had a 5 mo old baby to go get back to. He’s now 7 mo old. I was actually thinking of going to the ICAN meetings they have there once I am pregnant again with our second and final baby here in coming months. Overall great resource center and store. The kids’ stuff is expensive but I have picked up an item or two on sale anyway when I had an extra $ 20 or so. Always super high quality products from bras to baby rompers to nursing wear. A wonderful place to bring the baby or go for mom’s time off if you have some money and want an un frumpy new nursing dress or bra, or an indestructible $ 20 baby suit for kiddo.

Every new mom must go here! The staff are extremely knowledgeable and helpful. I was able to get a couple of fantastic fitting nursing bras. They were out of my size in one of the bras and special ordered and called me when it came in. I was also impressed with all the great baby clothes and gear they carried. I also can’t wait to go back and purchase some of their nursing dresses and tops. Much better stuff than you can find other places. This place is wonderful.

A wonderful store! My only disappointment is that I did not find it sooner. Awesome selections of nursing wear and pajamas. They carry quality clothing brands. Avoid stores in the village. Though this store is small it is a one stop shop and you get tons of personal attention which you need when it comes to nursing. I felt very comfortable with the ladies there. I definitely plan to return and refer whenever I get a chance.

I had a great experience here! After 2 years of breastfeeding, I finally got professionally measured. She was so patient with me and my family, with two cranky toddlers and a cranky baby. She helped calm and entertain the baby while helping me try on multiple bras. She never got irritated with all the craziness that I brought with me. The bra selection was great and I’m so glad I went. I have never been this comfortable in a bra! Thanks again!

I have been here several time and Have to say I have always received excellent service. The first time was during my pregnancy and the other two times post partum. If you are looking for a place to help with breastfeeding and such, this is the place. They have the biggest selection of nursing bras, tanks & shirts of any place around. And they have everything you could want/​need for pumping. I love this store and to top it off the staff is so knowledgable and friendly! Its a required stop for all future BFing moms!

Sandie is a life saver. If it weren’t for her guidance and confidence in me, I don’t think I would have reached my breast feeding goal. The little and I are coming up on one year in two days!
The first day we met Sandie — my daughter was 4 days old and losing weight. My husband and I must have looked frightening. With her help, we were able to get her weight back up and then some by the two week check up. Sandie was kind, generous, and patient. Any new moms having trouble breast feeding — book a consult. I battled through slow weight gain, painful latch, infected c section, and thrush but we made it!
Also easy pump rentals and all the accessories. And other fun stuff — baby clothes, nursing bras, carriers, scales — just to name a few.

Gretchen is the new owner of this store and was very friendly when I came in looking for some nursing tanks and bras. She asked me a few questions, measured me, and got to work pulling out bras and tanks she thought would work best for me. It’s obvious she knows what to look for in terms of finding a good fit. I found a couple nice nursing bras and a nursing tank. The store is small but has a lot of products that nursing moms would find helpful, such as Medela pump parts, hospital grade pump rentals, nursing pillows, etc. I’d definitely recommend visiting this store to any nursing mom. Gretchen is very nice and let me use her lactation consultant’s office to nurse my fussy baby and even weighed him and gave me a card with his weight and footprint on it. Great personal service and seriously an amazing selection of nursing wear to choose from.

The service was excellent. Its a small shop and they had to close the front of the store to help me try on bras, but it didn’t seem to be a problem. I found a couple very nice nursing bras to replace the cheap ones I destroyed the first few months I was nursing. I’m still glad that I had cheap bras early on because they do get gross pretty fast and need to be washed much more frequently, and my size was much larger for a few months. Now that I’m past that, I was happy to spend more on nicer bras that fit better too. They also have some other baby items.
You should know that their location is in an office building and I didn’t see their name on the building sign so I wasn’t sure I was at the right building. But they are there, upstairs.
Also, the name of the store does kind of rub me the wrong way. But it’s not inaccurate. And not enough to keep me from giving the store five stars.

The name of this store has always irked the heck out of me. What is a Woman’s Work? I have never been an ultra feminist or anything like that, and I am pretty good at getting irony, but I just don’t really get the point of calling a baby store «a woman’s work.» What about single fathers or widowers, and come. .. it’s Rice Village. It isn’t like there aren’t male gay couples with children shopping in the area. I somehow always end up parking in front of this store when I go to Salento, but had never gone in until recently.
Anyway, I finally went in there a few weeks ago to buy a present for a baby shower– The attendants were super helpful, but a little bit condescending– It’s like the whole store is designed FOR MOTHERS BY MOTHERS… so unless you are one, you’ll totally feel like an outsider.
Nevertheless, they did help me find the perfect present from my friend’s wish list, and they seem exceptionally knowledgeable about all their products.

I went here today in a hurry because I have a wee babe and toddler that my dearest mum was helping me watch. I needed good nursing bras. I previously purchased some nursing bras on-​line from Target and they were not cutting it. The store had some great looking stuff (children’s clothing, breast feeding supplies, etc.) that I didn’t have the time to browse at. At first I left because someone else was ahead of me, my mother had to be elsewhere by a certain time. The store doesn’t take appointments for bra fittings and they close at 5PM. My mom urged me to go back in the store which I did. I was helped by Astrid and she was very kind. She measured my chest and brought me a variety of bras to try on including sleep bras. I found some really great ones for like $ 50. Seriously, a great deal in my opinion. I love stores like this, but they don’t necessarily sell practical clothing for children. The worthwhile stuff is the breast feeding, nursing bra stuff. The children’s clothing and other accessories seem to be for those with higher disposable income than average or if you’re like me and you like to indulge yourself in cute baby stuff. The store is closing sometime in March and relocating off of Greenbriar. They plan to just focus on bras and breast feeding stuff. I intend to go back and see if I can find some cute clothes for my new baby girl before they close.

Houston lacks options for mothers who want an intimate, knowledgeable new baby, maternity or postpartum shopping experience.

The employees of this store are amazing. They clearly take their work very personally and are extremely knowledgeable about absolutely any subject having to do with childbirth, child care, health for mother and baby, etc. They are warm and welcoming without being overbearing in the least, and incredibly professional. On our first visit, the woman who helped my husband and myself ended up spending over an hour with us, knowing we had no intention of buying anything that day and were just curious.

A Woman’s Work is an amazing store for the new mother (or mother-​to-​be). They stock a nice selection of maternity and nursing clothes from great brands like Glamourmom, Majamas and Japanese Weekend, but expect the prices to be on the high side for these designer offerings. Aside from the clothing, this store is a great place for beautiful diaper bags and slings.
In addition to all the offerings for mom, there is also a selection of funky children’s clothes. They definitely have cute things if you are not into the standard pinks and blues that you find at other children’s stores. They have a huge selection of Robeez leather shoes for your tot, and they even have a baby weighing station. I can vouch for the fact that as a new mom, and especially with your first baby, you will initially be obsessed with how much your baby weighs, how much he or she is gaining, and whether he or she is eating enough. The little scale at A Woman’s Work will help you alleviate any weight-​related fears without running to your pediatrician’s office.
This store is definitely a place you can shop with your children. They usually have toys out that kids can touch and play with, but be respectful and put them back when you’re finished. In the dressing rooms, they have bouncers and wire toys so that you can try on your new fashions while junior is happily occupied with the provided amusements.
The staff is exceptionally friendly. This is so important when you’re a new mom because you feel like every question is stupid. They have heard it all before. They will help you find the right sling, showing you how to pick the right size and how to wear it. They will answer your questions about buying a nursing bra or what kind of breast pump you need. The store also offers the services of certified lactation consultants. If you’re a first-​time breastfeeding mom, you will have heard so much conflicting advice, it might be helpful to give them a ring on this subject. Their services range from answering your myriad questions, to selecting a breast pump, to setting up and using a pump.
There are so many things that can make motherhood so overwhelming. It’s great that there are stores like A Woman’s Work to help you keep your head above water.
