CM Tailors & Alterations

I started a new job at a new firm and accordingly purchased a new suit to ring in the hash tag #NewYearNewMe even though we’re well in July now — but better nate than lever.
I first took the suit pants to Cindy’s down yonder in Greenway on a Monday morning. Cindy’s claimed they could alter the pants no prob by that Thursday 3pm for 16 of my eurobucks. They did not even touch the pants all week so I took my untouched pants with me, sassed them with a one star Unilocal review for not delivering on their word to have the pants done by the deadline we bartered for, and then I had to figure out what to do next with my pantaloons.
So for round two I chose my tailor based on their proximity to Luna Pizzeria because I wanted some delicious pizza in, on, and around my mouth to help me simmer down from all of the obstacles the world has thrown in my path just to get a decent lookin’ suit draped around this hot tamale (which is single and ready 2 mingle b tee dubs.)
Enter CM Tailors & Alterations, handily located on the jutting backside of the strip mall (running parallel to Richmond) that houses Luna Pizzeria. If you pull into the main parking lot off of Kirby where Fat Bao and my beloved Luna reside, you are in the wrong place. Keep heading back towards the narrows facing Richmond and CM is towards the end of that part. There is parking out in front even at peak times.
I dropped off my pants during my lunch break around noon on Monday and the girl behind the counter originally said they would be ready that Wednesday for $ 10.83. Pressing my luck I inquired if they could do it same day — and it turns out they could. I was expecting a king’s ransom for same day service but wanna know the price break? $ 12.99. My pants were ready by the time I could get free at 4pm. Like magic.
When I liberated my pantaloons from CM’s the pants were appropriately manlet sized and don’t need to be rolled up any longer. I can just put them on one leg at a time and go make gold records.
Cindy’s gave you a 5% discount if you paid your bill with cash; but CM is a tru thug and won’t charge you extra if you ring it up on daddy’s plastic.
This is about as painless of a suit pants altering experience as possible and they were much cheaper than Cindy’s and other shops I called around to in the Greenway area. CM Tailors have made a fan out of me 4 lyfe so long as I purchase suit pants and need them altered in the Houston area.
Don’t trust your suit pants to anyone else in the Houston area besides CM; and reward yourself with a nice spicy andouille pizza (or three) at Luna around the corner for making a wise decision to trust your pantaloons to the pros at CM.

I do not normally write Unilocal reviews, but I feel like it is my duty to warn you to not take anything you value here.
I needed a new tailor because my amazing tailor seems to have disappeared, and a friend recommended me to this place because her husband had a suit let out here and they did a good job. Fine. It is an alteration place that advertises their ability to make wedding dresses. They have to do a good job on some simple bridesmaid dress alterations, right? God no.
If you don’t believe me, keep reading: I needed a strapless dress taken in on top and shortened by a great deal on the bottom. The young lady who helped me upon my first visit very obviously did not have a clue what she was doing. She pinned the dress quite a bit on one side and took in a bit more on the other. I asked if they would know to even out the top since it was a sweetheart neckline and if you took in 2″ on one side and ½″ on the other, it would look ridiculous. She assured me it would be fine and then she went to work on the bottom hem. She pinned a few things and sprayed me with some chalk.
I gave them the dress and came back the following weekend to pick it up. I tried it on just to make sure it fit right. A man who did seem to know somewhat what he was doing was there this time. I put on the dress and it would barely zip. It was WAY too tight. Why? Because they just took in the dress 2″ on both sides to even out the dress. I maybe could have forgiven them, but it gets worse. The hem, which any tailor who calls themselves a tailor should be capable of doing, was cut like a drunk toddler. The lining was longer than the outside in the front and too short in the back. the outside chiffon was higher on one side than the other and then tripped me in the front. What. On. Earth.
The guy promised he could fix it. Fine. I cam back a third time. He added back over an inch to the top and it actually looked fine except a piece was ripped that he has to re-​sew. They ruined the hem so he cut the outside a bit more (which made it shorter than I wanted) and did what he could with the lining.) It still looked like crap. I told him I wanted him to pay for the dress he ruined. He asked me to let him fix it (a 3^rd time, now) and come back the next morning.
I ended up accepting the dress because my best friend’s wedding is 2 weeks away and I just do not want to deal with buying a new one and trying to have that altered. The dress looks passable if you don’t stare too closely, but it is one of the worst tailoring jobs I have seen. He charged me 60% of what I was originally quoted but I should have not paid for any of it. If only I wasn’t such a nice person… Anyways– save yourself! Do NOT go here.

Had my first experience at this tailoring shop this past week and was satisfied. There are two dressings rooms and platforms to stand on while you’re being pinned. The guy helping me did pretty much what I asked for; I wish he could offered more suggestions but maybe I should have asked more?
Price list is available upon request; I found the prices to be on the pricier side (ie: taking the sides in on a skirt with lining was at least $ 30, a skirt hemming was $ 20 – 25, taking in the sides of a blouse w/​o lining was $ 20). I received my garments back and the work was done well — the altered parts were cleanly pressed and the resulting garments fit well.
I had a 50% off coupon which is why I tried it out, the location is convenient and they finish their work quickly (within 2 – 3 days) so perhaps that’s what you pay for. They also have one-​hour/​same-​day services.

I brought-​in a leather purse that needed stitching. They did a great job and gave me very reasonable price. I’ll be going back. They also give great customer service.
