History

Established in 1976.

1976– Neighborhood Ranger began operations in San Antonio, TX as a residential patrol service.

1977– Neighborhood Ranger expanded with an Alarm Installation Division.

1980– Neighborhood Ranger’s name was changed to Ranger American. Wayne Hayes was named President/​CEO and became an Owner.

1982– Wayne Hayes negotiated the first security industry contract with a major production builder.

1988– Ranger American Expansion began outside of the San Antonio Marketplace.

1988 – 1989 the following divisions were opened:

Tampa, FL

Austin, TX

Dallas, TX

Houston, TX

2006– With a view toward future technological changes around «connectivity» and integration for the home, Ranger American’s operating name was changed to ConnectOne Security.

2015– ConnectOne began implementation of a new business model. A 2200 sq. ft. showroom was built at the company’s headquarters so Homeowners could experience a completely automated and integrated home environment from any «connected» device.

I entered the security industry in 1974, in Dallas, Texas to create new security system divisions in two cities for my employer, N.C.P. Services, Inc. Afterwards, I moved to San Antonio in 1977 to do another startup for a prior associate. Three years later, I was named President and became an Owner of Ranger American. Our emphasis was new home construction.

In 1988 – 89, I opened four divisions in Florida and Texas; and purchased the last branch opened, Houston, Texas. We changed the company’s name to ConnectOne in 2006 to embrace new technology trends leading the «connected home».

In 2015 we opened the most complete Home Technology Showroom in Houston to provide the greatest experience in home technology and customer satisfaction.

During my forty plus year career I’ve been privileged to start companies that have more than 1 million residential security system installations.
