Gen’s Antiques

I happened to stumble upon this place on my way to the First Saturday Arts Market. So glad I discovered this place! They have a huuuge selection of unique finds– you can get anything from furniture to china, lots of fabulous décor such as vases and little trinkets you can display around the house. They also have a fair selection of art on the walls and I felt like the prices were very reasonable. The guys who work in the store are super friendly and helpful and were not bothersome at all while we were browsing the store (I hate when sales people follow me around trying to convince me to buy something). This store is much bigger than it looks on the outside– don’t forget to check out the room way in the back of the store– there is even more furniture back there, a huge standing Bear, and they also have a classic jukebox that plays tunes while you shop. Such a fun store to browse even if you don’t buy anything! I will definitely be back! Oh and the best part about this store– it’s dog friendly! (What can I say, I’m a sucker for places where I can bring my pups).

Good store but one of the guys running it takes his dog out and never cleans up! He has been doing it for the past year in the 19^th st vicinity and it’s disgusting to watch. Why would I buy your furniture if your dog poops on my yard and you don’t clean up?

It’s always worth the time to stop into Gen’s antiques. There is plenty of parking, and it’s conveniently located on W. 19^th about a block and a half from N. Shepherd. Keep an eye out for the classic Corvair pickup truck in the parking lot, the owner uses it for deliveries!
The shop offers a well-​curated collection of furniture, art, decorator objects, and curios. The owner seems to have a talent for offering classic pieces that work well for modern lifestyle and décor. There is a large selection of mid-​century furniture, most of it in very good condition. Check out the art for sale, lots of original and eclectic pieces.
Prices are reasonable, and appropriate to the scale, quality, and rarity of the piece. I’ve heard that if you ask nicely they might be (slightly) negotiable. Overall the items are priced to sell.
We have bought a few large items here; a beautiful standing wardrobe, it looks great in a modern townhouse and adds a little closed storage to a big open floor plan, and a mid century oak «bar» piece with glass doors and mirrored back, very nice. We also have a painting or two and a sculpture from Gen’s.
Anyway, if you’re near the Heights, stop into Gen’s antiques!

This is such a great antique store. We were in search of some mid century modern pieces and had been going all over town. We came here based on a recommendation from our realtor. They have a wide selection with a big sale section in the back. We found some great mid century dining chairs. The owner is really friendly and gave us tips about reupholstering the chairs on our own. He even offered to fix a loose piece of wood on one of the chairs. Such a great place. I can’t recommend it enough!

This is another cool antique shop We frequent in the Heights. This shop is in the coop format with booths of many quality and lovely items. We purchased some pretty unique sculptures, Murano art glass and a Danish modern cabinet in the past. Price wise, definitely more pricey (because of the level of quality and location) but well worth it for furniture that will last long enough to pass down to your grandchildren!

Recently, I found out about the First Saturday Arts Market in the heights. The little shops are cool to pick up local art from people within your community. But if you’re wandering around and can’t find what you want, you’re in luck because Gen’s is right next door to the market. The have all kinds of unique antiques. My favorite was the jukebox in the back. The best part? It’s open normal hours so if you happen to miss that first saturday you can still come here to do your shopping!

never a dull thing in this place, i have found amazing finds and i am a designer with a discerning eye! funky, fine and interesting merchandise that is always rotating.
