GMS Dental Centers has been operating in the greater Houston Metroplex since 1985 as a successful team composed of dedicated healthcare professionals and knowledgeable practice management executives.

GMS Dental currently operates dental offices in the Houston metro area and Honolulu, Hawaii with over 16 licensed General Dentists, 11 Dental Hygienists and 8 dental specialists. As a full service dental practice we provide all aspects of dental care including Crown and Bridge, Cosmetic Dentistry, Orthodontics & Children’s Dentistry, Periodontal therapy, Prosthetics, Endodontics, Implants, and Restorative Dentistry.

Many of our dentists and staff have been with GMS for over 20 years and have often cared for several generations of the same family. Our mission has always been to establish a long-​term relationship with our patients, our doctors, and our employees by treating each with dignity and respect and by providing the highest quality dental care to our patients.

They saw me quickly but everything else was terrible! Rooms were gross they use the old painful way when taking x-​rays. Then at the end on my appt as I’m checking out was told I had active gingivitis. Oh please! If that was true why didnt the dentist tell me that. I think theyre scammers. Got an exam today and was told my gums were healthy. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY! & If your insurance sends you there make sure to get a second opinion.

It is my first time here, I’ve been having some tooth pain and they were able to work me in the next day. The check in process is a little slow, they only have one receptionist (2 actually but it looks like they’re alternating between the front desk and the back with the Doctor so there is always one person at the front). However, they were both very courteous and nice and that I appreciate, it also sounds like they are very willing to help patients without insurance find a way to have some kind of financial assistance.
The doctor was great! Super friendly and she explained everything to me (again I appreciate that) in detail and showed me my x-​rays. The doctor is new and she is the only one in this office & she is very considerate and respectful to her staff. My guess is she made out with the old staff based on other reviews and brought in the shiny and new. The dental assistant was also very nice and friendly. They gave me an exact price for what I would pay at my next visit with them and explained my referral process in detail. Overall my experience was very pleasant. Just arrive early (like 20−30min) and be patient, they’re willing to work with you! And you couldn’t ask for anything better than that!

I’ve had two appointments with them in the last couple of months. While both times I signed in immediately upon arriving, the first time I waited 20 minutes before the receptionist acknowledged me. The second time I finally went back up to the counter after having been ignored for 30 minutes and tapped on the glass so I could ask when I could expect to be seen. After speaking with the receptionist, there was an additional 20 – 30 minute wait before being seen on both visits.
Upon making it to the back during the first visit, I was placed in the care of a rather sloppy tech. She was clumsy when taking my xrays, and then she lost one film and had to retake it. I saw the same dentist on both occasions, and he was friendly and took time to go over things with me. When I went to check out after the first visit, there was some confusion about what he recommended for follow up care, but I was able to sort that out when I checked out after the second visit.

GMS dental deserves no stars. There service is so terrible. Nora at the 1960 does nothing but tell lies about what’s being taken care of and what’s not. On the day I was getting a root canal the procedure was stopped because the dentist couldn’t go any further and I had to be sent to the Ella location where I waited 2 freaking hours just to be seen then all the doctor did was look in my mouth and left she did not speak or anything. Next the lady at the front desk said my insurance was maxed out that was a lie. We called my insurance company and they had never even told her that or spoken with her about that. Nora had drawn up the wrong chart for me and was trying to charge my insurance for $ 5,000 worth of dental work that didn’t even need to be done and hadn’t been done. It’s been told to me that she can be dumber then a sack of rocks. I recommend that you NEVER go to these dental offices.

I should have looked at the reviews of the various GMS Dental offices before randomly picking it out of my insurance handbook. I don’t love the dentist even on a good day, but I’ve had way better dentist visit experiences in the past.
Reception — Grim waiting area, 15 – 20 minute wait after scheduled appt time. In the 5 minutes I stood at reception after my appointment to get bill/​pay, the phone range at least 6 times and the receptionist put them all on hold — clearly, they need more staff. I didn’t schedule the follow-​ups they said I needed because the dentist was so rude (see below), but I heard the receptionist telling another patient the earliest they were scheduling future appointments was 6 months out, which is kind of absurd.
Dentist — zero bedside manner, really brusque and accusatory. He didn’t seem to get that attitude is not going to help someone who already is highly anxious at the dentist (which was on my chart and which I told him, and which he basically mocked).
Hygenist — the only redeeming part of the visit — she was extremely nice and gentle (as possible). But unfortunately, she works in this grim office, with the rude dentist, so not going back.

I am changing dentists after coming here for 1 – 2 years. The last hygienist who cleaned my teeth was just NOT noticing that I have extremely sensitive roots and was visibly wincing until I made a sound. Then she kind of joked about not wanting to be my torturer. That was not the right joke to make since it was truly awful.
One of the actual dentists was supposed to give me a crown but was unable to because my mouth was too small. As a result of her inability to deal with this I almost got referred to an endodentist. She ended up doing a souped up filling to try and get the job done. I’m not impressed. The endodentist, as a graduate student on crappy Aetna student insurance, would have cost me an arm and a leg and probably then some.
I have also had multiple visits where I had to wait a half hour at least beyond my appointment time to get seen.
