Josephine’s Day Spa & Salon

Love this salon, and the charming people in it. Erin is delightful, and did a great job with my hair! She’s fabulous with color. Her assistant (whose name I’ve forgotten – so sorry) was friendly and fabulous. I think the owner should allow them to accept gratuities – it felt terrible leaving without tipping for the great service and delightful atmosphere. Definitely going to be my salon!

I’ve been coming to Josephine’s for about 1.5 years. I had forgotten to book an appointment and wanted my hair cut asap. My stylist Patricia (who has ALWAYS given me a GREAT cut and color) wasn’t available til the following week so I did a very bad thing — I went to another stylist at another salon with a referral from a friend. My hair got butchered!!! :-(It was uneven, weird layers, I asked for a «trim» and this other stylist hacked off 2 inches. It was a disaster. I saw Patricia today (my regular stylist at Josephine’s) and she gave me the cutest cut and fixed most of the damage (will take a bit of growing out to fix everything completely). She blended in, refreshed my color and fixed the god awful butchery that happened to my hair from the other salon. Don’t cheat on your stylist — bad things happen. Thanks Patricia! You’re the best!

I went to Josephine’s for the first time this past Saturday.
My experience was less than average.
1) they’re a bit pricey but that’s because you’re supposed to get a great experience. I was greeted by 5 girls that seemed like they had nothing to do but stand and talk to each other. However, once I accepted something to drink they failed to bring it to me. I had to ask my stylist for it.
2) I arrived early for my appt but my stylist was 10 minutes late for me.
3) I felt rushed the entire time
4) my stylist left me while shampooing to go who knows where
5) she sent someone to ask her friend if she’d like to go to happy hour later
6) her friend came over and joined my appointment
7) my cut was okay but she didn’t do any detail work like I would expect once she dried it
8) she did style it which was nice but spent zero time on my bangs and when she could tell I was dissatisfied she assured me it was fine
9) I went home and cut my own bangs
10) most disgusting– she brushed my hair with a brush that still had someone else’s hair.
More than likely not going back and not worth the money. Lots of ditzy girls here.

Horrible customer service. I had heard terrible things about this location from friends but really wanted it to work out since I love the Eldridge location and this was closer to my home. The floods in Houston have left my car in the shop, so my husband and I (and our two babies) have had to share a car. My husband called to let them know we would be 10 – 15 minutes late and they rudely told him that we would have to reschedule. I have NEVER been to a salon that wouldn’t allow 10 – 15 minutes to get to an appointment. This was especially annoying since they refused to schedule me past 4:45 so my husband had to take off early (downtown traffic and all). Not only do I get a lot of stuff done on my hair every 5 weeks, but I also monthly purchase Aveda shampoos, conditioners, smooth infusion cream, hair gel for my husband, and makeup. The fact that they would be willing to lose my business and ALL future business for a FIVE minute wait is incredible. Not understanding, not sympathetic whatsoever.

Erin deserves 6 stars, she is great and I love what she has been able to do to my hair the past 2 visits! I have struggled to find a good place in Houston and glad I have finally found my hair salon «home».

Got Mani/​pedi yesterday. I’m VERY picky, and was SO pleased! Felt very pampered while I was here, and my nails look lovely. Tony was my manicurist and Krystle beautified my toes!

Erin and the staff have been so accommodating to me when I walked into the salon today. Erin saved my hair and I am so grateful for her :) she was very detailed with what she was going to do my hair and made my experience at Josephine’s Day Salon awesome. I am definitely coming back to see Erin!

I went in for a simple trim, and ended up with an 3 ½ inches cut off. It took me a year to grow that much hair! Not only was a lot of hair cut off, but the layering was horrendous! The hair dresser should not have had a license. There definitely will be no JOY in my life
Update: 4 months later and management never called me back. Also, my hair is still in the growing out phase, tdue to the HORRIBLE hair cut. SMH as to how this place stays in business.

I found my hair place in Houston! Kris was very friendly and did an amazing job giving me layers without taking off too much length.

Erin did great job with my cut and color at a reasonable price. I would recommend both Erin and the Village location. Bonus– The salon promotions are great!

Awesome! Erin is simply awesome! Love my haircut and the way she styled it! She really knows her stuff and I loved how she handled my hair. Knew exactly what style I was wanting and she advised me on what length and gave me the right amount of layers. I found my go to place for all my hair needs! I highly highly recommend this place! You will not be disappointed!

This was my first time at Josephine’s, and I had a WONDERFUL experience with Chris! I usually dread going to hair appointments because I hate small talk, but she is so easy to talk to. Before I knew it, my appointment was over and I was out the door! Chris gave me some really good tips about curling my hair, too. I HIGHLY recommend going here for your next hair appointment!

I haven’t had a haircut in literal years (almost two in fact), so I was feeling a little nervous about going under the scissors. Also, I just moved to Houston and wasn’t sure where to go.
But the staff at Josephine’s Salon, and particularly my stylist Chris, were fantastic and super welcoming. I love my new haircut and am excited to come back soon. I have definitely found my new salon in Houston! I would highly recommend Josephine’s to anyone!

I went to Josephine’s for the first time to cut my hair, and Chris was great! I am usually cautious about cutting my hair shorter, but she cut it exactly as I wanted including length and style. This is probably my best haircut! Highly recommend going there.

My last trip to Josephine’s was a horrifying experience. My highlights were looking too obvious as they grew out, so I asked my stylist if she had any recommendations. She suggested that she bring down the color from my roots a little bit and then blend in with balayage. That sounded great! Except I ended up with bright red roots (I’m naturally dark brown). The top of my head was RED, and the bottom of my hair was YELLOW. It looked awful. The next day, I went in and talked to another stylist who insisted it looked fine! Seriously? If I wanted my hair to look ridiculous and tacky, I would have gone to a much cheaper salon.

Excellent experience! Joy is wonderful and gave me the exact cut and color I wanted but was struggling to verbalize. She was very patient and thorough during consultation. The hand massage and scalp mask were icing on the cake. Will definitely be back to the Rice Village location to see Joy!

I had my first hair color and cut appointment here last November and I am so happy I met Erin!
I had highlights done for the first time at another place and the lady totally messed up, but Erin saved my hair! She got rid of the ugly stripes and gave me a beautiful ombré color that wasn’t too light for my dark hair. I’m careful with my hair; I keep it long and healthy and I totally trust Erin (she listens to her customers and gives great advice)
I’ve taken my boyfriend to get his hair cut here too. Everyone who works here is very nice, polite, and professional. I’ve been to other aveda salons in the past and have used aveda products for years, and I’m glad I started going to this great location that is so close to my apartment!

I’m new to Houston and have been procrastinating a hair cut for way too long. I went in one day while shopping in rice village to buy an aveda product and they gave me a promotional coupon for a service. Score! A few weeks later I scheduled a last minute appointment with Joy for a cut. She did a fabulous job! She only works Saturday’s at that salon location but gave me information on the Eldridge location where she works the rest of the week. I was several months overdue on a cut. She did a botanical mask treatment for $ 35 because it was sooooooo dry and I am enjoying the results so far! I had some issues with uneven lengths and some terrible bang growth and she did fix everything. She showed me how much she was taking off after the first snip, which I liked. I have long hair and would be absolutely mortified if I ended up with a bob. I will go back to Joy for sure. Also, the salon is gratuity free. What? Yes, gratuity free. I tried to give her a nice tip and was turned down. It felt awkward, yet refreshing at the same time.

Great things: I have been to Aveda Salons all over Canada and when I moved to Houston I was not disappointed in this salon!
Erin is fantastic! She really listens to what you want. I often ask her opinion and she always give great advice. Loved my hair every time and we have gone from super blond to dark brown! The staff is great, I am an annoying customer always changing appointments and times and everyone is helpful. Can’t beat the cost either– best prices salon in West Uni.
Love their monthly promotions as I often purchase aveda products.
Not so great things: wish they would get better sinks!!! My fave part of getting my hair done is the massage with the wash but these sinks make me wish it was over! One is currently broken and I’m hoping they just replace both with more comfortable chairs/​sinks.

Awesome experience! The most relaxing and pleasing visit to the salon that I have had in a long time. 5 star service.
