Q Nails & Spa River Oaks

I really wanted to like Q Nails & Spa River Oaks. Like really bad. They are less than 10 minutes from me and after a long week of studying, I just wanted a pedicure to destress. Even though they have a ton of pedicure chairs, they don’t seem to have the staff to support them. We were kept waiting for an entire hour (even though we kept being told «just a couple minutes») before someone came over to start our pedicures. We were seated in the massage chairs (which are amazing), but they couldn’t make up for the wait. I ended up getting the deluxe pedicure package which was great! It comes with a hot towel neck massage, leg & foot scrub, foot massage and paraffin wax. Overall, I enjoyed the pedicure and my toes came out looking fantastic, but I’m not sure I can get past the poor customer service.

I’m spoiled by the ladies in the Memorial spa we go to… Nails Beautiful in Echo Lane Center off of Blalock. We moved from that area 7 years ago and still drive out there from downtown.
Having said that, sometimes it’s just not practical to drive a half hour for a mani/​pedi.
Friday, 1÷15÷16 was the 3^rd time we’ve gone to Q Nails (the Husband likes the treatment, too, he gets his nails buffed) and it’ll do in a pinch. I’ve never experienced the pillow on the lap process. It does work but is kinda awkward. They offer wine and that works too. But two out of the three times, the water has overflowed in my tub. It creates a mess on the floor and this time it soaked my shoes, which I could have picked up off the floor myself had I thought about it. They don’t do a great job on my heels (which are awful even though I am a delicate flower) and they seem like they’re just going through the motions, not really interested in what you want.
There ARE a lot of chairs so we’ve never had to wait. Maybe I just have not found the right gal. A regular mani is $ 16, a deluxe pedi is $ 38 and a jelly pedi (ooey gooey aromatic stuff in the water) is $ 48. A tad pricey, but hey, it IS River Oaks.
The massage chairs ARE awesome and get to places that other massage chairs don’t. Go check it out and you’ll ummmm, see what I mean!

Great place to go get a mani pedi. It is very clean. They are very nice and have plenty of chairs so they are able to seat you quickly. They have little chairs also for little girls and my daughter loves them. The prices are good for all the services you are able to get. I would recommend this salon.

After trying many places in my neighborhood I have found my favorite place. They do a really good job with gel nails (mine lasted over two weeks) and it is a large space so they are always able to accommodate me and I have never had to wait. Fair priced as well.

This is hands down the best nail place I’ve experienced in Houston, and I’ve been to a lot, including in the surrounding suburbs. Very efficient in getting you started, extremely clean, elegant, comfortable, with televisions galore! Any nail tech you get is excellent and meticulous — even the guys!

Only writing an update because I went in for a different service the other day and had a much different experience — I’ve been to Q Nails a handful of times now and have truly enjoyed my experience at the salon, but I am a little weary after spending a good amount of $ there the other day and not being completely satisfied with my results.
I made an appointment for SNS nails — If you are unfamiliar with this, trust me, I was too. I had heard great things, and when I made the appointment, I was under the impression that they would put me with someone who was familiar with this technique. The technique involves dipping your nail into a powder a few times while painting over the powder. I had also never done «fake» nails before and wanted to have tips put on, so again, I wasn’t 100% sure how to communicate this but figured they would be of assistance.
When I arrived, I was put with a technician for SNS. She immediately started the process, and I wasn’t aware that I wouldn’t be getting the standard parts of a manicure (cuticles, lotion, etc.). She put the full set on and then becan painting thick chunks of the SNS powder onto my nails. I was under the impression that we would be dipping my nails into the powder, but she had a brush that was dipped into liquid then powder and pretty much caked it on my nails.
I wasn’t fond of the shape and continued expressing concern — She would fix it, but it just ended up looking not great. My nails now also have a lot of dried powder/​polish in the corner and sides of my nails and definitely do not look like they were done the other day. That is one of my biggest pet peeves with getting my nails done.
Maybe I just didn’t do my homework, but this wasn’t what I was expecting with the SNS experience. I feel like my nails look cheap and am a little annoyed at the caked polish on the sides and worn look.
Also, not sure if this is normal or not, but my fingers were THROBBING last night like there were bruises on my nails. They’re still sore today, and some nails are sore to the touch.
Probably wouldn’t come here again for SNS but will continue coming in for a regular pedicure. Would also like to know if getting acrylic nails or «fake» nails includes the regular manicure procedure, as this is what I expected when I requested «SNS nails and a manicure» — If anyone knows, hit a sista up.

Speedy service and both my hands and feet were worked on at same time. However, as far as a French manicure goes it was a big waste of money. Whatever top coat nail polish they used on my nails started peeling off the day after it done! They must thin out their polishes way too much. My pedicure was great and lasted a while but I could’ve done a better job on my manicure at home and saved my money. At first I thought it was because of hand washing but it really had started peeling from the sides the day after I had it done. See photo.

This place has redeemed themselves with me by getting a computer that has the prices set and prints a receipt. I paid $ 59 for a service I was charged $ 90 for at a previous visit. The only reason I’m not giving five stars is because of the fact that they did indeed rip people off to begin with.
Additionally, Kelly is fantastic! I have seen her multiple times now and love her work.

I have been here three times, nice, clean, but every time it’s always something small they leave out. Yesterday I got the mani/​pedi
It was fine bit they were very busy and both girls rushed me, no massage at all. That part is important to me, do not know if I will return. 4 days later and my nails have all broken, I have really hard nails so I go not know what they did. You ask me to come back with a generic message back to me that I now see you respond to everyone. I will never ever be back.

I’ve been here a total of 3 times. 1^st time was a successful 4 star experience, kind service, nice mani/​pedi, and timely. My second visit for just a hand polish change, I left after 1 hr wait of moving around from chair to chair with a promise to, it’ll be just a few more minutes. My 3^rd visit, I finally received service after 30 mins of wait, with original quoted time of wait to be 5 – 10 mins, and it required me to complain about how long I had waited. Their overall quality of Service and work is Vero good, once you ver The Service, but their timeliness is bad. Be sure to give yourself 2 hrs to be in and out for a mani and pedi.

I do not like this salon. Good design. But I was struck by the place of the master. It was dirty and dusty. I would not want to serve me in this place. After all, who knows what might happen after that.

This is how a nail salon should be! One visit to this place, and I can already tell I’ve found my new go-​to! I highly recommend them to anyone looking for nail services in the area.
This place is huge on the inside, but they staff it very well. The design is gorgeous, and cozy. When I first walked in for a shellac mani, I was worried I was going to have a wait because of how crowded it was. But instead I was greeted immediately, and Ivy got to work helping me pick a color. I was able to describe what type of color I wanted and she found me 4 perfect examples and then helped me narrow it down. They work quickly, yet neatly. Ivy was very friendly and did great work. The rest of the staff seemed the same, especially the management up front. They have a very organized operation and make sure that everyone is tended to quickly.
The prices are great, considering what you get. I paid $ 31 for a shellac manicure, and to my surprise, it included a hot wax wrap at the end!
I can’t wait to go back soon for a pedicure!

Quick tips: Only good things are plenty of places to sit and quite lovely interior. But just okay service. My manicure chipped in like five places right as I walked out. I even asked to be placed under a light and they said the lights were broken and my nails were dry. A bit annoying.
One really off-​putting experience is the woman who took off my shellac used her nails to scrape the shellac off. I think it’s gross for her and for me. They need to use utensils to take off the shellac, not nails.

My pedicure was great and I totally love the atmosphere. Laura is amazing-​very detail oriented and so sweet. She could tell I was unhappy with the mani and did everything she could to make sure I still had a great experience here.
However, my mani was a completed different story. The first time I came I experienced wonderful service. My mani and pedi combo was the best ever. This time, I came in for a new powder color and the guy putting the new color on did not completely take off the old gel and you can see the uneven edges of the old powder under the new. Obviously the guy could see it but kept on going.
Next time I will be asking for Laura for both a mani and a pedi!

New to the area so this was my first time here & i was blown away. I was told citrus nails was the go to place around here to get pampered and after coming here I disagree. I got the 2^nd most expensive pedi & For 36 $ I got a pedi, hot wax, 10 minute massage that ended up being longer, scrub, warm pad around shoulders that relaxed me, and more that I’m forgetting. I had Laura and she was so nice! I’ve never met any one I liked enough to keep coming back to but I will for her. The massage chairs were the best I’ve ever experienced. They have tons of pedi chairs also so I was able to get right in on a busy Saturday. Nail polish selection is huge! Also I was not expecting this place to look so nice on the inside. If you’re looking for a nail salon give this place a try!

This has been my go to salon for 6 or so months now. The place is huge and the décor is awesome. It’s so much more relaxed and comfortable than the small cramped you usually find.
There isn’t usually a wait, even when they’re busy. They always have plenty of staff on hand. I usually request certain technicians or make an appointment, but when my usual choices are unavailable I never worry because I still leave happy with my service.
But the real reason I come here… The colors. There are so many colors and they’re always getting more. They have just about any shellac color you could ask for. They could make it a little easier to look through them all, but I would take awhile to pick my color anyways. They also have a lot of solar powder colors of thats what you want. For regular nail polish, it’s along a wall organized by brand and color so it makes the decision very easy.
They always offer something to drink, and don’t try to upsell you. Manis and pedis also include the paraffin wax, which is a plus. Overall I love this place and would highly recommend.

Came here with my wife today to get a pedicure (I’m not a huge fan of nails salon but it was our anniversary), it’s a very big spa that has cushy massage seats, they do offer vip rooms that hold two people but its an additional charge. The staff is very friendly and offer you drinks (alcoholic and non-​alcoholic). As far as pricing goes I’m by no means an expert but for my pedicure and my wife pedicure and manicure it cost $ 75 which in my opinion is a little pricey but what do I know!

I ended up at Q Nails after being turned away at Day Spa Nails and Facial on Waugh Dr. (something about their nail techinician being stuck in traffic). Anyways, I was pleasantly surprised by this place.
This place is huge — lined with 4 rows of pedicure chairs. They were able to see me right away and I was done within 30 minutes. Their prices are typical for shellac and Lori, my nail technician, did a great job. They have a lot of colors to choose from and throw in a hand/​arm massage.
Nice, friendly staff, conveniently located in a shopping center so parking is not an issue. Plus you can go shopping afterwards at Marshall’s!

Meh… not impressed. I was so unimpressed that I had a nightmare about a horrible mani that night.
I only got a mani cause it was cold and I had boots on. The skin on my thumbs gets way dry. That is just how it is. When I got home I discovered that my thumbs still had hang nails and had to use my own nippers.
The price was decent. BUT overall it was a huge disappointment. I mean really ask me if I want a drink AFTER my mani? Typically you are asked FIRST.
I might try it again but it is not like I will be anxious to go there because the experience was just so bland.
