History

Established in 1983.

Sound Works was formed by owners Dwight and Karen Cook. Dwight was Shotgun Cook on KRBE and Karen was the first female disco DJ in the USA. We love video, audio and the web and have built our business around our interests.

Don’t expect snail mail from Karen Cook. Known for her Disco Lady days in Houston, she is the proud owner of the Wikipedia designation as the first female disco DJ in America. Karen has kept dancing and is currently our in-​house lead producer and fast talking get-​it-​done diva. Watch for the hand jive, she can be mesmerizingly convincing and always has an idea to get you in the spotlight. Everybody Dance Now.
