Space Montrose

I absolutely love this store and can’t believe I just discovered it this week! I was greeted immediately and was given a quick run down of the store.
Locally made (Houston or at least made in USA) art, soap, jewelry, cards, baby/​kid clothes and toys/​blankets, t-​shirts.
Just a really unique treasure (parking in the back) located right next to Agora and Artisan Vape shop.
The employee I spoke with at checkout was super friendly and passionate about the store’s mission.
Entry is available through the front and back. Prices are reasonable. PLUS they were open until 9pm on a weeknight.
Go here! You won’t regret it if you like handmade, local treasures!

I came here with hopes to find some tiny accompaniments to a Giftcard I got for a friends birthday.
I was instantly greeted and welcomed into the store. I was trying to stay focused on my mission– but was super distracted by all of the great pieces and things in there. Cute little cactus plushie. Awesome greeting cards. Hand made soaps. Tons of great gifts.
I got a cute little to do list notepad and arugula candle for my friend. I will be going back to treat myself to some jewelry and the artist prints were really beautiful and super reasonably priced. Who needs etsy? Just go here!

Love the ever changing unique finds at Space! This has become my go-​to for baby/​kid gifts, the most amazing greeting cards, and treat yo-​self gifts!
I am so grateful for the dedicated parking spaces in the lot. I know the owner has a hard time with Common Bond customers who think they are entitled to parking spots that are clearly marked for Space, it’s great that she stands firm for her customers!

Came across this cute little store by luck. They had a lot of Houston, Texas themed things which I thought were cute. My favorite items were the handmade plush toys. The store overall had a lot of unique gift items. It is slightly over priced though.

Love the art by local artists! I wanted to buy everything in the store. Prices were a bit high on some items in my opinion though, so I deducted one star. Other than that this place is great!

This place is so awesome. I remember coming here when they were across the street. You would just drive by and never knew it existed. Now it’s next to Commonbond and it’s bigger and better. Space has the best and most unique prints in Houston. I gotta get one evert time I visit. The owners are really nice and informative about everything they have.

Love everything about this store. The guy working was friendly and super helpful directing me to some more awesome shopping in Houston.

I don’t even know where to begin to explain my love for Space! The store is the BEST retail shop for any sort of gift, card and clothing piece for anybody you know. They have unique knicknacs Live ziggy stardust rings that I’ve purchased for friends. Everything is made from an artist and not some cooperation or cheap material crap. This is definitely my go to for houston gifts and just spoilers for myself.

THE go to store for cool prints, shirts, jewelry, and more. When friends come to visit & want to go shopping, I always take them here, and they love it!
Also, just about the sweetest couple ever own & run Space.

Space Montrose is a quirky little shop with some wonderful finds! For my Austin Unilocalers this shop would fit in nicely on South Congress. From squid tentacle sweatshirts, hand crafted jewelry to lovely scented bars of soap you can find a special and unique gift for everyone on your list.

Neat little place to buy some cute pieces of artwork and clothes! In particular, I love the unique baby clothes carried here. I can’t quite afford spending so much on an outfit that will be grown out of in a month for a baby but one of these days I will indulge! Definitely recommend coming here to find some chic original jewelry and artwork.

This is a great place to buy yourself or some lucky person a really cool gift!
I love handmade/​non-​mass-​produced things, and I love supporting the people who make them. Space Montrose has tons of original and handmade things including prints, jewelry, shirts and children’s toys. They sell things in a range of prices, from a few bucks to original art that is upwards of a few hundred bucks; there’s something for every budget.
The owner was very friendly and seemed genuinely interested in interacting with the customers in a meaningful way and being as helpful as possible.
I would definitely return here next time I’m in Houston. Even if you don’t buy anything (though I’m not sure who could leave here empty-​handed…), it’s a great place just to browse and enjoy.

Like a real-​life esty store without all the Regretsy crap, plus it’s local! I accidentally wandered in here while walking back to my car from Agora, and I’m glad I did. They have everything from t-​shirts to jewelry to art and bath toiletries and candles, and everything is made here locally by an area artist. The art prints are some of my favorites – they’re so creative!
This place is a great idea if you’re looking for gift ideas that are a little out-​of-​the-​box, or if you’re trying to find something for the Houston expat who now lives elsewhere.

UGH. Since moving from their quaint converted-​house-​turned-​store to this new building, they’ve completely lost their charm. While it may be the same variety, quality and quantity of products from their previous space, I feel lost in the store. Ironic to say since their new location is wide open.
Their former store made me feel like I was scavenging for cool new pieces — be it new jewelry, threads or a new art print. There were nooks, crannies and it always felt like every corner I turned was a new surprise assortment of products. Now all I see are white walls and stuff. STUFF. Stuff that just blends in with everything else.
I support Space because it supports local artists and independent designers — Houston needs more of that. But I’m mourning the quirky feel of its former home. Ugh. Sigh. Face palm.

Absolutely fell in love with this store as soon as I walked in. I think it’s important to support local talent, and individual artist in general, and love seeing originality. This store definitely has it, and I like the fact that Space gives people with so much talent a platform to show their stuff.
If you have a baby, get your butt over to this store, they have the CUTEST onesies with Texas, and Mr T on them. Some of their homemade baby stuff made me almost want to have a baby. If you are looking for an original baby shower gift, this is your place. They have a ton of really great art work, prints, jewelry, and really great T Shirts with Texas stuff, and Montrose. This will be my to go to place for any gifts. If you haven’t been, def. worth stopping in.

LOVE LOVE LOVE. It’s so cute! This store has something for everyone! Best yet, it’s all local products and art. There is eclectic art and jewelry. Candles, soap, t-​shirts, art prints that go from strange to sublimely adorable. Stuffed felt toys and baby clothing that is just too cute. I can’t get enough of this store.
There are handmade cards for almost any occasion– so witty and funny! The art on everything is wonderful.
Staff is always really nice, no matter when I come in.
If you’re looking for a perfect card or gift, this place is a good start. And since it’s near Café Brasil and Common Bond, its the perfect beginning, middle, or end to your adventure through Montrose.

I wanted to show you some love. I have been to your old location and always wished you had more inventory. To my delight, you moved across the street to a larger, more beautiful space where there is light to show how awesome the products are!
Each time I got to visit Austin, I wonder why they have so many stores that support local artists, yet in Houston – not many to be found. I really love this store and I LOVE that I can buy «Texas» themed t-​shirts that have a modern feel to the design. All of the inventory seems curated with a good eye.
The prices range as they are hand made. There are several artists that I enjoy, to name a few: Lisa Chow, Poppy and Fern, and Tim Doyle.
Also, the lady at the front is always super pleasant.
If you are looking for gifts that are creative, different, and made with love… come here!

Absolutely love this store!
I was so bummed when I saw their old location behind Brasil being shuttered… but to my delight my friend pointed out to me that they were just merely moving locations! They showcase an assortment of products from local artists… anything from clothing, prints, jewelry, greeting cards, etc. etc. Everything they have is super cool. However my favorite part of the store is the baby section in the back. They have the cutest clothing and accessories for kids! This is a go-​to place for me when I’m buying baby gifts which are a bit more offbeat and have a bit more local flavor for those especially hard-​to-​shop-​for parents.
They now have a much roomier and beautiful space adjacent to Agora. I love that the new storefront is much more prominent, and hope it drives more foot traffic to Space. Definitely check this place out if you’re in the area, or if you’re ever in the hunt for some unique gifts.

We used to walk by this store all the time when heading to Domy Books or the nightmare that is Brasil. For example, today we parked on the street in front of someone’s house (who was outside, awkwarddd) and walked by Space Montrose.
Went to Domy Books, bought some absurd squid/​jellyfish stacking toy, and on our way back, she decided to stop by. I knew I was in trouble within 5 mins because this kind of store is the kind of store that’ll bring her out of Unilocal Retirement. Stationary… cute stationary… local artists, original artwork for under $ 100 (under $ 75 from what i saw), just the kind of thing that would really sucker her in… it’s like that store next to Sprinkles except a lot better curated and a lot more original. More Houston flavor.
So that’s all awesome and everything but the really great part about this place is that it isn’t absurdly expensive… as in, it could easily be one of those absurdly expensive places — original 5″ by 7″ matted artwork for $ 250 kind of place… but it isn’t at all. So I bought stationary («From the Desk of _​_​_​_​_​_​_​_​_​_​_​_​_​_​) and a Lisa Chow (?) drawing that I thought she’d like and spent less than $ 100.
Say what you want but compared to the photographs being sold at Southside for $ 220, I might as well have been robbing the place.
Owner was cool. Told us they’re moving across the street to the new place being built. We’ll be repeat customers, without a doubt.
Go here if your girlfriend likes unique /​cute things and you are 1. in need of making up for a mistake or 2. just a good dude.

They opened a baby section recently. Awesome clothes for your baby to look stylish in.
They also got a new artists designs recently that I love. I bought me a set of Leroys Place cufflinks, one of Tupac and the other of Biggie Smalls (So what if they were rivals they look great on my wrists =P)
