We were nervous to buy from star because of all the bad reviews but we really loved the sofa we found there and we really loved our sales associate Doug Tosh. Originally we went to gallery furniture but we were extremely put off by the fact that they had monkeys locked up in a small enclosure just to help them sell furniture. Being big animal lovers we left and headed to Star I am so glad we did! When we got to Star we told Doug we do not buy leather or down for ethical reasons, we also told him about our experience with gallery and how we feel about animals. He was so understanding and took the time to find us couches with no down or leather. Like I previously said we were extremely nervous after seeing all the negative reviews but we finally decided to take the chance. We had been out of town and missed a special invitation sale but Doug was able to still give us the sale price which was amazing. We were told upfront they would not get a shipment of our couches for a couple of weeks and he gave us a date that they should be in by. They came on time exactly when we were told they would. The delivery men were so nice and very careful in our home and with our new furniture. We love our new sofa’s and we will definitely be making more purchases from Star in the future!

AVOID THIS PLACE. False advertising on prices — they had price tags on furniture and then when we tried to make a purchase told us the item was actually twice as much as the posted price indicated. No manager would even speak to us about it. Never going back and highly recommend SHOPPING ELSEWHERE!

I wanted to leave a review on the outstanding customer service that my family received. We went to several furniture stores and looked at different options for our dining table. We were hesitant to pull the trigger in only the second stop we shopped at, so we left and shopped more. All the other places we shopped we couldn’t find what we were looking for, and the customer service wasn’t even close to be matched. So my family came back and bought what we wanted. It’s because of Kenneth Marcum that I will continue to shop at Star Furniture as my first choice in future furniture purchases!

Bought $ 1000. Leather recliner. After a year, frame broke. Would not honor warranty. Had 5 year leather upholstery warranty that cost me $ 79.95. After 3 ½ yrs, leather seperated. Refused to honor warranty. Don’t make same mistake. Go somewhere else.

We bought a beautiful leather sofa & loveseat, the service is great, the sales consultant named Ellie Hard is excellent. I found a beautiful pillow but only found one so she walked all over the store to find the matching pillow that I wanted for the sofa. We bought the loveseat months later, she looked all over at other Star stores to find the matching loveseat, we got a great price & quick delivery. I love this Star Furniture store. I recommend this store, ask for Ellie Hard, she is so nice, knowledgeable, & efficient. What is not too love?

Good furniture shopping experience had today with Julie as our salesperson! She was very helpful, knowledgeable & friendly. We had our 6 month old son with us so we needed the couch fabric choosing process to go smoothly & quickly, which is exactly what Julie assisted us with. She pointed out other items in the store she thought we might also be interested in, based on what I had told her we needed to buy in the future. She wasn’t pushy at all, overall pleasant experience!

Fist power sofa delivered had a major problem. Second day they brought the wrong sofa to replace it with and it also had a defect anyway. Third day finally brought the right sofa and so far it seems to be ok. I had to make numerous calls to get it all sorted out. Like many companies they don’t communicate well between departments. Kudos though to manager Candi for sorting it all out.

Absolutely the worst customer experience I have had! Salesperson there only cared about making a sale. Once that’s done they don’t care at all. She promised the couch would be ready in less than 90 days. I called the store around day 85 and of course it was running behind. She made tons of excuses and then promised to call back with an update which never happened. When I called back on the 90^th day the women at the front desk stated that it was in the warehouse ready to be scheduled for delivery. Took our salesperson another week to pick up the phone and schedule the delivery. We requested Saturday and she claimed that she would call back later in the week to give us a three hour window. Which didn’t happen… I had to call the store Saturday and ask.
Delivery guy was hours late, hit a painting on the wall while walking in and took it off and then slammed the couch against the wall causing a big chip of drywall to come off. Thankfully my boyfriend knows how to fix things! No apology either, he just looked at it and said oops.
Long story short I won’t be shopping here again.

We had the worse experience with Steve at Star Furnitures when shopping for a custom made king size bed. I had no idea what I would be getting into when we made the purchase. We were in to buy a custom headboard and mattress with box. The day we selected the items went smoothly with no hiccups (anything for them to make a sale, right?) Promise delivery was within two weeks. We bought our bed late October. A month later, no bed delivery… Oh guess what? They were out of that specific fabric and we had to go in to choose another one… They needed a month to figure that out??? A month later… No bed… It is still in production. A month later, we have the bed in delivery (January) or so they say. But still no bed by February. After many phone calls, they failed to mention that they meant the delivery was from one warehouse in North Carolina to the Texas location. By that time, we had called Steve multiple times and he had no decency to be honest with us and instead LIED to us so often about what was going on with our product. We finally got our bed FOUR months after purchase while they hold on to our money this entire time and were liars and so rude. We should have bought from Pottery Barn or Z Gallery if I knew I would be sleeping on an air mattress this whole time. Worse company ever. Worse customer service ever. Will never go back to those liars.

I suppose it’s the typical furniture store experience, but I just cannot stand the overbearing, stalker-​ish salespeople. Lady introduces herself immediately upon entering. Cool, nice to meet you. Told her we just want to take a look and we’ll let her know if we need help. She stayed five paces behind us at all times, making us really uncomfortable. I understand that’s how they make their living, which has probably been negatively affected by online shopping, but no one on Wayfair is breathing on my neck as I peruse their selection.
I will say they had a large selection of furniture as well as large selection of fabric swatches for you to customize the furniture. There’s something to be said about being able to see and test out the furniture in person.

I so wanted to give Star a great rating. My first visit there I was treated very dismissively by a cust svc rep I believe her name was Barbara. Could have been skin color, or the the fact that I was a teacher, who knows. But I saw a sofa set in a color I had been wanting for quite some time. On a teacher’s salary I was amazed that they offered a plan where I could pay on it over a few months with no interest and receive it once paid in full. My newly requested rep was awesome, Pam T… until I paid in full, took delivery and discovered what I received was not the same color as the one in the store even though it was «called» the same color. In the store it was very definitely a rust orange, the one I got, VERY DEFININITELY a sienna brown. Pretty, but still brown, which is a fairly common color for this type of sofa. That is why I was so ecstatic over the months about getting it.
Prior to paying it off, I was treated extremely well, hadn’t seen such good customer service in a while. Once delivered and I asked them to double check the color, and expressed my utter disappointment, well, not so much love anymore. I was told it must be the lighting, etc. I am not blind! Even a couple of friends who I brought in to look at it in the store and then they saw the one I got asked why I changed my mind about the color. So after been attentively attended too, no return texts whatsoever. No, well let’s see if we can find the color, or would you like to return or exchange it. No response in follow-​up. I am from a different state and had no idea that Star is supposed to be like the top of the line store. I just knew they had the color I had been looking for for quite a while. Oh well, I loved the rest of the furniture I purchased and will make peace with the color as I went without for too long to want to return and it, and start shopping around again.
Unfortunately I had picked out pieces at Star for my entire house and was planning to purchase them a few pieces at time. Unfortunately, I will have to begin looking elsewhere.

After waiting 8 months for a part to be ordered and delivered, I have decided I will never shop at Star again. Bought a 100% leather recliner January 2014, the back broke in August 2014. (Broken recliner has now been sitting in my living room for 8 months) Called to ask for it to be repaired. A rep came to my house a week later and stated that a part would need to be ordered. Waited 2 weeks called back and the phone rep stated it would take 90 days to come in. Called back in December/​January was told the part was never ordered or that they show it was just ordered. Called back in February, they stated they do not carry the part but someone would talk to the parts manager and call me back. No call. I call back the next day and part still not delivered. Rep actually told me to call the store to see about a replacement. Talked to the manager on 45 she said nothing she could do because they don’t carry the recliner anymore but would put a rush in the part and put one her «calendar» to call me in 2 weeks. Well that was in March. I have never had such horrible service and will continue to use Ashley Furniture. Very sorry I ever gave Star a chance. $ 700 for a recliner and no service.

We have been a loyal customer for 7yrs. We’ve bought all of our big furniture here. This time we only wanted 2 pillows for our couch that we already purchased there within the past year. After 2 months of getting the run around, still haven’t received the pillows and neither the sales people nor management care. I tried to cancel my order and they said the pillows were «special order» so I can’t. Guess what it’s called when someone pays for a product and doesn’t receive it? STEALING! So sick of this epidemic of bad customer service with businesses.

The Sales Reps are helpful and the furniture they sell is good quality; however, their customer service department lacks in professionalism and concern for their customers.

We recently moved here and have a lot of furniture to buy. In this case we were looking for a bedroom suite. The reviews were pretty good and we have driven past the store several times so we decided to give them a try.
The system is, when you walk through the doors you are immediate greeted and «helped» by a salesperson. This is better than having to go look for help and let me just say this place is a maze, you’ll be happy you have a guide.
We got a great salesperson, Oz Khan, extremely knowledgeable about furniture lines and price points and what sets them apart quality and style wise. He quickly got a handle on the style of furnishings we were looking for and walked us through a number of options, explaining craftsmanship details like dovetailing vs glued, metal glides, etc etc. The man is an encyclopedia can’t say enough good things about him.
We settled on a bedroom suite set up delivery and everything went smooth as silk until oops! During delivery we noted one tiny pull out knob missing for the slide out shelf on a nightstand. Just the knob. The screw was there even. The delivery guy wrote it up as missing and promised the part would be sent to us UPS in about a week. A week later no knob. So we called. Customer service unapologetically informs us it will take 30 – 90 days to get this one little knob! After many calls, and even trips to the store in person they finally «expedite» the part… except its the wrong part! Back to the calls, trips to the store and after 2 ½ weeks the part is ordered again and yes… another 30 – 90 day wait is expected.
I went to Home Depot with the screw in hand got a very similar little knob for 20 cents and canceled my other orders with Star.
This place has lovely, somewhat expensive furniture and the worst customer service I have ever seen. I will not be doing business with them again and I would never recommend them to anyone. There are plenty of other places that will be happy to have your money AND treat you like a valued customer, not a nuisance or worse yet a nonentity.

Bad sales person. Took 3 months to get my bed after threatening them with canceling. Gave them 1 star as the furniture was what I wanted but feels bad since I had such a bad experience.

We had a very positive experience here. A wide selection across many styles and price ranges. We really liked the way that the rooms were laid out to give the shopper a very realistic view of how bedrooms and living rooms would fit at home (or not).

So yes, it is I and I’m still furniture shopping. Unlike my last review on a local furniture company, this one gets a 5 star review. Mrs. Marquetta is the best. We told her what we were looking for, how much space we were working with and she did the rest. No fast talking sales tactics or foolery. We told her the square footage of the room. She went above and beyond the call of duty. She got a piece of paper with squares. each square would represent a foot of the square footage we have.. Cut pieces of paper to represent to furniture we were purchasing. Got the dimensions of each piece of furniture. Using the cut outs, sat there and diagrammed how our home office furniture would be arranged. I said wait Ms. Marquetta, I need something else. In her cute little cuban accent she said, NO JEN’Née’fer! You have no more space for anytee’ting (Im using this spelling to represent the accent) You buy none’ting else for this room. Now what sales person you know would have done that? None, I’ve come in contact with. I love her! Furniture was delivered and everything fit perfectly. Thanks Star! You have my business. This is MY PERSONAL experience with Star Furniture.

Irritating salespeople!
When you walk in they’re set up at the front door to assign you a salesperson. Ours, greeted us like she was claiming us. It was not a welcome, it was a «you’re with me.» I can’t blame her, they were all doing it. I’m sure that’s the store’s obnoxious protocol.
Two minutes later when we had a question I flagged someone down because our saleswoman was busy. While the new woman (more on her later) went to find an answer for us the first wandered back and asked if we needed anything. I politely told her no, thank you, someone else was helping us. This completely crashed her system. You could tell it made her mad! She honestly said to me, «You asked someone else? In two minutes?» The nerve! Yeah, I did. I needed assistance so I found it. You can’t call dibs on a customer and expect the customer to *wait around for you* while you do your sales pitch elsewhere and other sales people are standing around. I do not work at Star Furniture. I do not have to follow this weird code. And don’t be rude to your customers!
The new sales woman was polite but left a bad taste in my mouth. To sum it up she did a phony «let me ask what kind of deal I can get you» wander off and come back kind of thing. Which at first was «Great news! I can get you 15% off of this sofa, but only this weekend. Cool huh?» Like, holy cats what a surprise! This later turned into «oh yeah I can get 15% off anything in the store.» Oops, I guess she forgot that she was pretending like she had to do some fancy dealing to get us the discount on the first sofa. And she didn’t even try to keep up the «let me ask the boys in the back» nonsense. Don’t insult me with this phony salesman baloney. Just be honest.
To make matters worse she would not stop following us around the store. I tried to shake her but nothing doing. She gave us the guided tour. She even directed us on where to go and went so far as to stop my husband, «No, we’re going to go around this way.» Excuse me? Who asked you where we are going?
And then when we saw another sofa that we really liked and was half the cost of the first one she tried her hardest to talk down the cheaper one like it was just going to fall apart! Lady come on! I know that if I had never liked the first one and only were interested in the second it would have been the bees knees to her. But obviously she was fearing for her commission. It was too much. So unprofessional and pushy.
There were signs up all over for their upcoming Memorial Day sale, and we asked her what that would be. I’ll let her answers speak for themselves.
«I don’t know what it will be, the salespeople are always the last to know.»
«I can guarantee you it won’t be better than the 15% off I can get you this weekend.»
I asked her what it was last year, she didn’t have an answer for that.
Writing this review I remember going to this store months before and the saleswoman told us at that time to «come and find her on our way out and tell her we are going.» What? Star Furniture what kind of nonsense are you pushing on your salespeople? You’ve created a bunch of annoying, pushy people who are driving away customers.
If you must go here know that you are getting line after line, and be firm with what you do and do not want to happen. They sure don’t mind doing what it takes to get what they want! I had two sofas in mind but I don’t want to go back, it was such a slimy experience.

We both love this store: great selection, spacious, good attentive, but not invasive, service. We bought all our family room furniture and many of the accessories here. Reasonable prices, frequent sales and specials. We had very good experiences with delivery too. Definitely worth checking out!
