If you’re willing to look past the location(shares a strip mall with planned parenthood in Sharpstown) then this is a great place for tacos. We got 3 tacos for $ 7 which is fantastic. They were delicious and authentic. I got corn and flour and their tortillas are great. There’s a green/yellow sauce that adds the perfect amount of heat. It’s not salsa verde, but it’s delicious. Shrimp were tasty and not over cooked. Place was clean and there are tvs.

This is my favorite taco place in Houston. Nothing like ordering two barbacoa tacos and a bottle of topo chico to nurse that hangover. All of the meats have so much flavor and the red sauce, green sauce, and the sauce in molcajete are spot on.

Love this place I try to make it here once or twice a week for the tacos and the green sauce that they have on the table. They will take your order over the phone but will not make it till you arrive unless they know you. Nothing fancy here just good food!

A good rhyme for tacos a bala, if you haven’t been yet just listen to this holla. Just had the breakfast tacos, egg and bacon. One of the best in Houston their makin. After one taste I gotta come back, I want those bistec tacos with corn double stacked. If you miss your abuelo’s cooking, A Bala is for you. For surely these cooks are from The Valley too.

I’ve had a lot of tacos places in the Houston/bellaire area and I would definitely say this place is the best. There hot sauces are on point — I prefer the green(spicy). I’ve tried a few different tacos from here but my favorite would be the beef fajita, add avocado! You will thank me later! :)

I eat here at least once a week and it’s always great. Their chorizo and egg plate or tacos are really delicious! I’ve never had a bad taco here and can’t get enough of their quesadillas. The green salsa is addicting and keeps me coming back!

How do I possibly describe the greatness that is Tacos La Bala? These tacos are the stuff of dreams — literally. I’ve had quite the dream or two where I went on a quest for these little mouthwatering pockets of perfectly seasoned meat. Tacos La Bala consistently has some of the best tacos in Houston and their menu is definitely more extensive than my other usual spots. Another great plus is that it’s a brick and mortar shop, so you can savor your tacos slowly in the nice A/C — a nice step up from the usual street taco truck. Every taco I’ve had here has been fresh and flavorful. Each taco comes with diced raw onion and cilantro(standard fare, as anyone who’s had street tacos will attest). I don’t know what they do to the onions(quick blanch or water soak?), but they’re refreshing when combined with the cilantro, and have none of the sharp bite that usually accompanies raw onions. It’s the perfect brightness to balance with the savory meat. The chicharron is probably my favorite, with a decadently rich and gelatinous texture, similar to Chinese braised beef tendon. It’s incredibly tender and well spiced. I usually round out my order with al pastor and barbacoa too. Three tacos is just enough to fill me up. A taco on corn will be $ 1.70 while ordering with flour will run you up $ 2.15. Either way, a great bargain and still competitive with outdoor taco trucks — especially when you factor in the perks of being inside from the hot Texas heat and the convenience of having a place to sit. Service is great and the women taking your order do well with either English or Spanish. The green sauce is a must! This sauce is exactly what I want in a salsa: creamy with the perfect kick of spice — just enough to get my nose running a bit but not too much to make eating unbearable. It’s sooo good. I pour it all over each taco and sometimes if I’ve got a little left, I’ll drink it straight from the container. Definitely use this sauce liberally to take your tacos to another dimension.

This place is amazing! The best Mexican food I’ve ever had. My husband and I got 5 tacos, 1 burrito, 1 torta, and 2 drinks for $ 25. Great food, great prices — what more can you ask for?! This place is really fantastic! We will definitely go there every time we’re in Houston, TX!

Authentic tacos for CHEAP. like around $ 2. And they were delicious! It’s in a strip mall and can easily go by unnoticed if you’re not paying attention to your surroundings. The tacos are good because they’re simple, homemade, and deliver on flavor/texture/everything. I got cochinita pibil and tripe tacos. The cochinita pibil was a mess to eat, but so worth it because the meatiness of the roasted pork and the spices/juices just make this incredible combination. Eat that with the two complimentary sauces and it is some good stuff. The tacos are a little small, so probably get 3 to 5(depending on how hungry you are — I’m a fairly small person and don’t eat a lot but I could probably take down 3 — 4 if I were hungry enough). There’s plenty of seating inside, but don’t expect anything fancy. It’s down-to-earth, authentic Latino ambience. The people are friendly and welcoming, so don’t be afraid to sit down and watch some football(no not NFL football). Will come back for more tacos before I leave Houston, no doubt about that.

Great taco/Mexican food place located near Bellaire. This diverse community really shows with all the restaurants around this area. I came here a few times with friends and I must say I really wanna keep coming back. The tacos and burritos are amazing to try. I always get one of each with a Mexican Coke. The flavors of the tacos are really good, and I always have mine on a flour tortilla just because. The beef burritos are the best in my opinion. The reason why is because it’s loaded with some great toppings, and has good flavors added to it. I always have a couple of burritos if I have room for them. But the tacos are great, and the best ones I’ve had in a long time. I also tried a side order of zanahoras, Mexican word for carrots. They do have a little kick to them, but they’re nice to try whenever I come here. Good flavor, but a little sweet when you tasty the spicy in them. It was worth trying them because it’s a new food and I’m always into that. This little strip area has plenty of parking, but not at rush hour. Other than that, there’s much to try here at this place, and it’s worth every bite. The restaurant size is kind of small, but the food is great. It may take a little while for your food to be ready, but trust me, you’ll like the tacos and burritos.

Very good food. The Trompo(pork) and beef fajitas were the best we had. The salsa seems more of a sauce than other salsas and doesn’t have a lot of spice, but is pretty flavorful. The tortillas were very fresh and tasty.

Three words to describe this place: Authentic, Fresh, Delicious. As far as food goes, my go-to when I come here is the barbacoa quesadilla — it is to die for. And if you’re lucky, you’ll get the beef that has been marinating in the oil for a long time. The flavor is incredible, the texture is melt-in-your-mouth good, and the ingredients are fresh. I’ve also tried the burritos, sopes, and tacos and none of them disappoint. The horchata and aguas frescas are also solid. Not to mention that prices are very reasonable — the barbacoa quesadilla is about $ 2 and three of these fill me up for a pretty cheap lunch. Service is a delight. Most of the staff primarily speak Spanish(same with the customers, and you might get some looks if you don’t blend in – that’s how you know it’s authentic) but they will do their best to communicate to you with a smile. Wait times are usually quick as well. What blows this place out of the water for me is the complimentary green salsa on every table. I’m no salsa expert, but I believe it’s made with tomatillos, cilantro, onions, jalapenos, and avocados. I really can’t express into words how good this salsa is so you’ll just have to try it for yourself. It’s freshly made in house; they sell big to-go party containers of it and when I asked how long it keeps(hoping to take some with me back to Austin), they replied, «Oh no, use right away.» That was a slight bummer, but it’s nice to know that it’s made fresh without preservatives. I always make sure to stop by this place for a quick lunch whenever I come back home. Best salsa and quesadillas I have ever had.

I come from excellent tacos at el Taquito food truck and searched for this one only because they are closed on Mondays. Quality and taste was approximately 90% of el Taquito, price was more but proportions were massive in comparison. Overall simply put, you can eat here happily. You will not regret it. :D I will be back.

Authentic experience. We were the only non Hispanics. Free spicy avocado salsa on table can be added to everything because it’s just that good. Small Menudo was average. Plenty of taco options. Cactus burrito was delicious and made vegan friendly.

I typed«La Bala» into Google Translate and it returned«the bullet.» Well, this certainly isn’t one of the nicest neighborhoods; there are bars on all the windows of the businesses. But how can I proclaim myself as a true taco enthusiast if I’m not willing to risk my life in its pursuit? Everyone was staring at us when we walked in. Was it because we were the only non-Hispanic customers there, or that we were wearing our tacky Christmas sweaters? Probably both. I watched my friend place her order at the counter with ease in fluent Spanish. I was not as successful. For one taco(this was my second dinner), the cashier told me it would be $ 2.10. The credit card minimum is $ 5, so I handed her the exact change. Somehow, the language barrier created a misunderstanding, and I got 9 cents back. It was really $ 2.01. I had the lengua(beef tongue) taco, which came with cilantro, cheese, and onions, but you might have to ask for limes if they forget. I love lengua tacos, and this one was terrific. My girlfriends each ordered 4, which is a good amount of food, and you get a discount. They enjoyed their trompo and barbacoa tacos, too, but agreed that the lengua was the best. I’m assuming very few of you would order only one, so you have the option of choosing different kinds. I’d skip the horchata drink, though. Maybe I don’t know what real horchata is supposed to taste like(I only recently found out the ‘H’is silent), but it was very chalky. We were def approached by a homeless man outside after dinner. Worth the harassment to get authentic tacos.

La Bala. You are crazy busy on the weekend. Line upon line upon line! But you are well worth the wait. I didn’t even mind waiting the 20 minutes for our two breakfast tacos and two lengua tacos. The lengua tacos here are perfect. Just the right amount of cilantro and onion. Delicious salsa. I used the green salsa. The breakfast tacos either came on flour or corn. The flour tortilla is not like what you think. It’s soooo good. It’s thinner and less fluffy but has that grilled taste. Very different from other places! The weekend morning rush is jammed pack. We had to wait for a table but it’s ok because we had to wait for our food too. Seems like everyone and their family members went here. It’s a pretty sizable restaurant too. You order at the counter and they give you a buzzer. You will get your drinks when your food comes out as well. They do take card for those of you who don’t have cash at hand! This will be my go to taco place!

Best tacos I’ve ever had. So simple yet so good. The location on Bellaire is actually the nicer location with a larger menu. They also have a smaller location on Dashwood a couple of blocks away. It’s attached to a convenience store and that location is a bit more… rough. Order at the window and grab a seat. Can’t go wrong with any of the tacos. Order them how Mexicans do – corn tortilla with onions and cilantro. Their homemade fresh green salsa with avocado is tasty. And their menudo rocks.
