Because of Unilocal reviews i tried this place out. I was not dissapointed. My dog was in a bad condition, in need of a wash, nail needed clipping and defenetly needed a haircut. I have a shih tzu and because of all the knots he had, i knew they were going to have to shave him. I expected to receive him completely bald, but no he still had hair on his head and body. Did i mention he smelled really good and was soooo soft. Defenetly recommend this place ! Front desk person was very nice, i got to meet the groomer and the owner came out to say hi. 5outof5 for me.

The Tailored Tail was a great place to take my pup, Sadie! I heard about this shop from family friends that swear by them, and I was definitely not disappointed in the service that I received.
I called early one morning to make an appointment for both pups, and I was able to make an appointment for later that day. Once we arrived, each dog was taken to the back one by one. The shop is very clean and they have a great little waiting area that owners can sit in. They also have a great variety of their products available for sale.
We received a phone call less than an hour later letting us know that both were ready to be picked up. Once we arrived, their groomer came out and explained their grooming experience, including why my pup’s nails were not as short (she has very long quicks, which I already knew, but it was great to be able to talk to him).
The price was a little on the high end, but it was definitely worth it for the convenience and the job they did. Both came back with bandanas and smelling great! I definitely recommend taking your pup to this shop. It’s always worth to spend a little more $ to get such great service.

Judy did a fantastic job with my dog cinnamon. They were prompt, and had him done in about an hour and a half. When I picked him up he was so excited and happy, not scared or shaking like when I picked him up from petsmart. Cinnamon looked adorable! Will definitely be coming back!

We have been taking our Goldendoodle, Penny, here since her very first cut. While I’ve only interacted with a handful of the staff at Tailored Tail (who have all been a pleasure to deal with), our go-​to professional is Christian.
I was worried on our first visit or two that Penny would resist and make the job tough, but Christian was able to get it done with no nicks or burns and gave us some helpful tips on calming Penny for everyday brushing, etc. She has always been personable and Penny trusts her and has, from what I can tell, been much easier to deal with throughout the last few groomings.
Always a great cut and I’m always certain she’s in good hands!

Place does a great job and the staff is incredibly friendly. We also love the bandana that they give Guss each time we come in.
I would definitely recommend for anyone with a pet in SW Houston, inside the loop.

Did a great job on my Australian shepherd. Told them exactly what I wanted and they updated me on how well he did. I was afraid he wouldn’t sit still, and they said he did just fine. Definitely will go back to get him bathed!

Although I miss the «visibility» of the work at the old location, the excellent service and great grooming hasn’t changed. Christian does a wonderful job on Pandi Belle, and she seems so happy to be there she didn’t want to leave. :)

I never take the time to write reviews, but this groomer deserves for everyone to know how great she is! I have been getting dogs groomed at various places including large chain stores like petsmart, small businesses, as well as mobile grooming for the last 6 years — this is by far the best place I have ever taken a pet to.
I called over the phone, and the receptionist explained how everything works in detail. I really needed a certain day and time for my little yorkie, Zoey, and I got an appt set up two days later just like I asked.
I arrived on the day of her appointment and was greeted with smiling friendly faces. The groomer promptly came out to speak with me about what type of cut I wanted for Zoey, and asked various questions about personality quirks etc. It was hard for me to complete the paperwork as my dog is very nervous and shakes like crazy everytime we go to the groomer. They came and comforted Zoey and took her back immediately to get started while I completed the paperwork. They have several policies that they clearly explain in the paperwork and have you initial beside. Some of the reviews have been negative, but these policies are there to protect the dogs. Without these policies, they would not be able to have the no cage policy which is one of the best things about this place.
I absolutely despise taking my dog to a groomer and leaving her there for 5 hours. I tried several mobile groomers, which take about 1.5 — 2 hrs, but they seem very inexperienced and charge an excessive amount of money. This tailored tail is perfect because there are no cages, and they call you 15 min before your pet is finished so that you can pick them up accordingly. The appt took exactly 1.5 hours just like they explained to me, so I could get errands done without having to worry about when they would call. They called just when they said they would.
I went to go pick her up. She looked amazing. The groomer explained that it takes an appt or two to figure out exactly how your dog reacts to the grooming as well as personality quirks. She said it would only get better from here. Not sure how much better it could get.
I am just thrilled I found this place and encourage anyone who loves their pet to take them to this groomer.

Best groomer I’ve ever been to!
First of all — I emailed asking for pricing and appointments and Elizabeth promptly responded and was very nice. She broke down the details of pricing and what it included and I got an appointment for my pup in just 2 days (on a holiday weekend).
When my pup, Brody, and I arrived, we were greeted immediately by the receptionist (I failed to get her name), but she was very nice! Elizabeth (the owner) came out just a few minutes later and introduced herself and asked me what I wanted Brody’s cut to look like. She asked me so many questions and details that no groomer had every asked me before, I didn’t even know how to answer! I left Brody and felt completely comfortable. I trusted that he’d be in good hands. They called me about an hour and a half later to let me know he would be ready in about 15 minutes. They are a cage free facility, which I loved because that meant my dog wasn’t locked up in a kennel waiting for me.
His haircut is seriously the best it’s ever been! He’s so clean and soft and handsome! Elizabeth told me how everything went, they even applied an aloe lotion to the sensitive areas of his skin.
(Side note: She also told me that it looked like he was getting an ear infection :(Funny thing is that Brody was just at the vet 2 days ago and they didn’t tell us anything! That’s for another review though… ha!)
Elizabeth was caring, observant, sweet, and professional. Everything that you could want in someone who’s taking care of your fur babies.
Found this place on Unilocal,but did not let the two negative reviews scare me away and I’m glad I didn’t! Seriously — bring your pup to The Tailored Tail. You won’t regret it!

I took my bulldog here twice for shampoos. They were very friendly and agreed to charge me a discounted rate if I was going to be bringing him in a lot. Your dog is given an appointment time and they take him/​her right away and give them back when they are done. No waiting around in cages like some other places. So far so good!

I only give this place 1 star because of their charges and poor customer service. It’s like Bank of America, they charge you for EVERYTHING. First off, I have been going to them before when the name change and location change. I didn’t go often but they were the only groomers I went to while living in the city because of the quality of the work. I left to the suburbs for a year and returned for the first time this year. I was called to pick her up and told them I would be an hour late. I was then told there would be a holding charge. I asked for it to be waived as I was not aware of the charge. Upon pick up (an Hour and half late), I was charged an extra $ 5 because she pooped. I asked about the charge and the receptionist responds «this is why we tell our customers to walk their dogs before they bring them in.» A) I did walk her before our apt and she pooped. B) she has always had anxiety going to the groomers and poops. I’ve had her for 8 years and never have I been charged extra because she pooped. I was then told it’s because of the extra work. She’s only 4.2 lbs. I then was charged $ 20 for picking her up late. No waiver for the charge. I expressed how surprised I was and clearly wasn’t aware of the policy and she hands me their policy information that is new to me to initial AFTER the grooming was completed. This form should have been given to me BEFORE the service and not after. I feel I was wrongfully charged. So it was a total of $ 96 for a regular groom on a 4.2 lb maltese that wasn’t matted.
Aside from the surprise charges and poor customer service, they did a good job. If you do plan on bring your dog to them, please be aware of their policy and disclosures before hand so you won’t have surprise charges at the end.

I’ve been bringing my furbaby here for a few years since the Scrub A Dub era. I drive over 28miles just because I am THAT comfortable with Elizabeth in handling the grooming of my maltipooyorkie. For years I had been looking for the right groomer for my dog and understand the anxiety in finding the right folks to trust with your pet. I have been horrified with how pets are treated when you’re not around (even in the big box stores) and I can say with complete confidence that my pet, even though she is 9years old and fidgety, is NEVER traumatized when we leave here and comes out looking so cute and fresh everytime! Elizabeth is very professional and will go over all the details and will discuss any special requests you may have.
This is service by appointment only, which means your pet wont be away for 4 – 6 hours, waiting sadly in some strange cage. For my pet, the usual full grooming service takes 45mins — 1.5hrs depending on how busy they are and I wait for their call. I am usually early to arrive and am waiting nearby just so my doggie doesnt have to wait. They also do not cage/​kennel your dog here and instead, have them waiting in a baby playpen, which Im sure is more comfortable.
Thank goodness I found Scrub a Dub /​Tailored Tail!

I have been taking my dogs to them for years. They used to be called Scrub a Dub and were on Bellaire. Now they have moved to a new location. My dogs are always well cared for, happy WHEN WE ARRIVE and look great when I pick them up. They are real professionals and will treat your pet as one of their own. I give them 5 stars and two thumbs up!

Please do not take your dog here. The other day, we dropped my dog for a grooming session and she came out looking absolutely terrible! They shaved her to her skin and she doesn’t even look like the same dog! They shaved her leg hair and face hair to the skin. Rather than looking nicely groomed with a slight trim, she looks absolutely awful! I’ve attached before and after pictures for comparison purposes. If I could give this place 0 stars, I would.

We LOVE The Tailored Tail! My pups have been groomed and loved by Elizabeth and her staff for over 8 years. We will never go anywhere else. My pups always look and smell amazing after being groomed there.

So obsessed with this place. my labradoodle gets so excited every time we drive up. I live in spring and can’t even think of taking her to a place around where we live. The quality of work is impeccable and the attention and care my pooch receives is amazing. Kudos to Elizabeth and her team for such great service and professional business environment. :-)
