O’Connell’s Complete Auto Care

This place is great. I’ve been bringing my cars here since they opened, a 1.5 yrs ago. I’ve had multiple services done to both vehicles. The owner, Naser, is very honest and works hard to make sure you’re cars are running well. I’ve been to other mechanics in the area, and I’ve received a lot of dishonest quotes from mechanics who are relying on your automotive ignorance to make an extra dollar on you. Naser is not one of these guys. Like I said before, he is honest and his prices are very fair, most of the time less than other places. I don’t like for my wife to go to the mechanics by herself, as she usually texts me with a crazy diagnosis given to her by mechanics who see a lady bringing her car in. O’Connell’s doesn’t do this. Ladies, this is the place you want to bring your car to if you don’t want to be overcharged. And, they have an Official Smog Check Station on site! Honestly, I don’t know Naser other than he’s our mechanic, but I trust him. He’s always done us good. Give O’Connells a try and I’m sure you’ll be a repeat customer.

Friendly staff. this was my first time. I’m sure I’ll be back. I highly recommend this service. the price is good and Noser (personnel) was professional and kind.

I took my car here to have a smog check after about 2,000 dollars in repairs at another shop. My mechanic put his computer on my car and told me the computer had been reset and it was good to take to get a smog check.
The guy in the front office of here told me I needed to drive my car around because the computer hasn’t reset yet. I was confused but followers his advice. I drove it for over an hour and took it back to my mechanic and took a photo of his computer. It clearly indicated all of the computer checks showed «OK».
So I took it back here a second time for the smog check. I was told the same exact thing again. When I looked at his computer and talks to him, he admitted that he just didn’t want to do the smog check because my car had failed the smog check previously, before having it repaired. He said, «I don’t want my stars to go down».
In our conversation he admitted that the car does pass all of the states requirements for a smog check. He was evidently making his own rules to protect «his star» rating. He’s a difficult, stubborn man who doesn’t follow the rules set by they am state.
In my opinion, people who conduct business like this guy shouldn’t be in business.

Had my car serviced here a while back. They said it needed a battery so I agreed to buy a premium battery ($ 135) with a 6 year warranty. Now about a year and a half later the battery no longer holds a charge. Gave them a call to warranty it and they were very rude and would not honor the warranty and replace the battery. While taking the battery out I noticed they put in an entry level battery ($ 70) and charged me for the premium. I took it to Firestone where they also carry the battery and he replaced it for free. Needless to say I will not recommend this shop to anyone.

Really like this place. Naser has always been super friendly and very honest with me from day one and the prices are great. It’s really hard to find a place you can trust. I’d recommend stopping by.

We have gone to O’Connell’s Complete Auto Care for service on my 2008 Rav 4 for heating problems. They found the root of the problem and replaced the radiator. The service was amazing! The mechanics checked the entire car and they did an excellent job. I recommend them to everybody, great service with a friendly staff. We are very satisfied with the service.

We have gone to O’Connell’s for many years. We have always been satistied with their service and attitude. We were sorry to see the original owner go — the original O’Connell. The business was sold and lost a bit of the personal feeling because the owner was off prem and a manager in charge. It has been resold several times since then, but we have stayed and been satisfied. We just called this morning to see about the warranty on the last tires they sold us (I had a blow out on the freeway and another tire looks like it is ready to blow; obviously defective tires). The business has been sold again and the new crew barely speaks English. Pretty hard to understand. Manager Nasser was 20 minutes late coming in, not a good sign to me. He just kept saying they were new owners, not responsible for what old owners sold us. We tried to explain that the warranty would be on the tires from the manufacturer — they should have all the records there. He said he would check and call back. Still waiting. We also explained to him that if he treats customers right, he will retain them and get new referrals. Somehow, I don’t think the culture he comes from understands this concept. We shall see. I’m giving them a 3, but with reservations because we have not had a good experience so far with this new management.

DO NOT GO THERE FOR ANY REASON! THEY WILL TRY TO SCREW YOU OUT OF YOUR MONEY!
I went in there about a week ago because my car was making a ticking sound. My mom’s boyfriend who’s a mechanic said that it sounded like a loose rocker arm. I explained this to the man working the register. He was quick to shut me down saying how he’s worked on Mustang’s for over 10 years and that they don’t get loose rocker arms. He said that only imports get loose rocker arms. He explained to me that it was probably just an oil pump that’s gone bad. So I left the car with them so they could inspect it. Within an hour of leaving I get a call saying that there was a broken bearing and that the whole engine would need to be replaced. They said it was going to cost $ 2,000 for labor and another $ 5,000 — $ 8,000 for the new engine. This completely devastated my mother and myself because of the price. Because the cost was so much we took it to another mechanic. He looked at it for much longer than the people at O’Connell’s did. As it turned out my mom’s boyfriend was basically correct, and all that was wrong was a sticky lifter arm. He just flushed the engine out and it resolved the issue. Only costing me about $ 300 for labor which is so much better than having to spend basically $ 10,000 for a new engine. In the end I’d say avoid this place at all costs, they will try to screw you out of your money and say that something way worse is wrong with your car.
Here’s the short version for those in a rush. I took my car in and told them what I thought was wrong with it. Get a call back within an hour saying the whole engine needed to be swapped out costing me $ 10,000 for parts and labor. Took to another mechanic and the problem was basically what I originally said to the people at O’Connell’s. Only cost me $ 300 to fix the issue. Don’t go here ever!

I won’t be coming back here again. I bought a «two oil change» Groupon in May. My first appointment in May went real well, it was a standard oil change and i walked out paying the standard $ 5.00 disposal fee.
Upon walking in to my second appointment (which I made a week in advance), Mitch immediately tells me that my Groupon is expired. I pulled out the Groupon app to prove that it wasn’t expired. He then tells me that it was supposed to be used on 2 Different cars. I read all of the terms and it doesn’t specify anywhere that it has to be two different cars. I even asked before leaving the shop where it was specified, but I wasn’t given a response. He said he would take $ 14.00 off of the oil change instead, which really didn’t make sense to me but i signed the paperwork and let them do the change.
A few minutes into sitting outside he came out to show me that my oil drain plug is rounded, and that he will need to replace it for $ 15. When I asked why his mechanics didn’t point this out to me last time since they are the only shop that has changed my oil, he responded real quick that it was due to my car having 150k miles. He did end up taking $ 5 off the part because he said he got it cheaper then expected. I walked out spending right around $ 25.
I got home to find that they put the wrong oil viscosity in my engine. They didn’t honor my groupon, either rounded my drain plug or didn’t tell me that it would need replaced last time, and put the wrong oil type in. I would have been better off going somewhere else.

They changed owners… not the same

So I’ve decided to change my review based on my last experience there. A friend of mine took her car there to get checked out and was charged $ 1800.00 for a «number of issues» that were wrong with the car. She attempted to take it back to find out the guy who we dealt with the first time was fired for doing some stuff in the office and looking at explicit material on the shops computer. Long story short, we were then quoted that her car needed a new engine and they quoted us $ 4500. She took it somewhere else and all she needed (which is what she told them was wrong) was a coil replacing. Unreal!!! They took advantage of us BIG TIME! Crooks and the BBB was notified to inspect shop.

I think this place has new owners, because I loved it until recently.
I took my car here about a month ago on a Tuesday for an oil change and diagnoses for a possible battery or alternator issue. The guy said they couldn’t even look at it for a week. I had seen that place WAY busier and they could still take my car. The guy was extremely condescending to me too. I lost the place I trusted.

First few times coming here I revived awesome service plus cheap oil changes.
Then on my 3^rd time, a gentleman that I had not seen before told me that my car only takes synthetic oil and it would cost 30 dollars more!!! (Despite me being there 3 times and them having no problem before)
Then he told me I would need all new tires and new breaks. And that a line was leaking
So I took it over to my uncles who own a body shop (I don’t do my oil changes there because they won’t take my money and it takes up too much of their time) and they told me that I only need two tires, and that my breaks are fine. It seems the only honest thing they told me is that a line was leaking in my car.
Won’t be coming back here any more.

This is a great auto shop. Paul is genuine and keeps it real and seems to truly care and not try and swindle you. That’s why I come here because is hard to find an honest mechanic these days. And yet here is one. They are straight to the point and don’t make the process more of a headache than it has to be. Never change o’conells!!! You are great!

Paul was incredibly helpful, fast, personable and he have me a great price for my oil change which is always way too expensive. I was in and out in about 15mins. I drive all the way from long beach for their low prices and great service. It’s well worth the drive.

Ah the old country. Went here for an oil change and maintenance, and was in and out in about 4 hours. Same day. The price was reasonable, but not super cheap, then again, I would wonder if it was TOO cheap, you know?
I would come back again, but I would really like to see a leprechaun mascot or something. Maybe some 4 leaf clover scent in the car afterwords.

O’Connell’s has been down the street from my house for many years. My car was overdue for a transmission service and I happened to find a coupon for O’Connell’s at a local gas station. I used to do my own maint. and repairs, but my busy life won’t allow it too often. The guys there did a great job and had my car done quite fast. They test drove it before and after to ensure there weren’t any issues after completing the service.
Oil changes are a great deal and they offer much more than just that. Paul is quite a character and I always enjoy taking my car there. I will continue to take my car here for needed maint. and repairs.

Paul at O’Connells and his crew gave me a complete and detailed quote yesterday for everything I’ve been concerned about and have been putting off. The quote was reasonable and all of the work was done in less than 24 hours as quoted on time and… Annie scored a dog treat! We’ve used their services many times over the years and have never had a problem. Great people and excellent mechanics… not always easy to find. Thanks guys.

Took my 2012 Nissan Altima in for its 30k mile service. I had gotten several quotes that were double and a couple that were triple. I was like ‘it’s a brand new car, how much service could it need’. I called GREAT prices and service, I will defiantly be bring my car back!!!#

Well, long story short… I was convinced they gave me the wrong car back!!!
I had my 1990 Toyota 4Runner in there a few months back. The main problem I was having with my car is it would not pass smog. I had some other work done to it a few months prior and knew the repairs were coming. My engine had many things going wrong with it. Timing belt, tensioners, pulleys, bearings, seals, head gasket, valves, hoses, etc… The fix took a bit longer than expected but everytime we dug further into the engine there was just something else going on. And YES I was in the loop throughout the repair process and even got to see the broken parts. The Manager cpntacted me everyday letting me know the status and even when the boss was gone on vacation, the manager on duty called me.
This was not the first trip there… I had them re-​build the carb on my Suzuki Samurai about six months before.
My car runs better than it ever has, like new! (And it did not destroy my wallet) Great, Fair & Honest pricing)
