Specialties
Established just four months after prohibition by John & Ann McGinley, the Golden Ace is Indy’s oldest Irish pub and the oldest family owned pub in Indy.
History
Established in 1934.
McGinleys’ Golden Ace Inn was established four months after prohibition by Irish immigrants John and Ann McGinley. 80+ years later it is still owned and operated by the McGinley family (John and Ann’s children) thus making it the oldest Irish pub in Indianapolis. Although the Golden Ace is known mostly for it’s legendary St. Patrick’s Day celebrations, the «Ace» is also known for its delicious cheeseburgers (voted «tops» in Indy by the IndyStar), it’s demanding pub trivia and it’s live Irish music throughout the year. The inside of the Golden Ace has not changed much since John and Ann first opened the doors to the pub: The old oak bar is the original, the cash register dates back to 1936 and the florescent «V» above the back bar has been proudly shining since 1942 as a symbol of patriotism during World War II.
