Calypso Apartments and Lofts

So let’s start by addressing some of the comments from the negative reviews:
— Lack of parking: First off, after a year of living here, I’ve never not been able to park. Sure, sometimes I have to drive higher up on the parking structure to find a spot if I come home late, but that shouldn’t bother any normal person with a modicum of patience.
— Trash/​Lack of cleanliness: This is true. There are some very disrespectful neighbors who litter or leave trash in the trash rooms (rather than putting it down the chute). But you know what? This could happen anywhere, and management does their best to clean it up. For the most part, the apartment grounds are well maintained and cleaned often. The maintenance crew is very responsive and helpful.
— Loud Noise: I can (barely) hear music from my neighbors, on occasion, and usually just on a Friday or Saturday night. It doesn’t bother me at all. **This could happen anywhere you choose to live. I’ve been in multimillion dollar condos where this was an issue.** If this is really so bad that you can’t sleep at night, you should be able to figure out which apartment it’s coming from without much trouble and deal with the issue. The walls in these apartments are very thick, and I’ve never once heard a voice from another apartment.
Now, with that said, know that these are great apartments with a small staff that really does a great job of making you feel at home. As mentioned in other reviews, occasionally the leasing office will be locked if the staff are touring guests around the facility. I don’t really understand everyone’s sense of entitlement here. Calypso is a relatively small community, and it doesn’t make sense to over staff the leasing office. This is almost never a problem. Relax and enjoy your lives, people.
The amenities are nice — I cancelled my gym membership to workout at the apartment gym. The bbqs, pool, and jacuzzis do the job as well, and the unlimited parking means I can have as many guests over as I want (not true at my last apartment complex in Irvine).
Repairs are typically taken care of within a day, although once it took two days (for a non-​emergency repair).
I live in an apartment that faces Jamboree. There is road noise, for sure, but it really doesn’t bother me. You get used to it, however, this could be a deal-​breaker for some. If it is, just pick an apartment that’s not facing the street.
Location wise this place is incredible. You’re within 5 minutes of a Costco, Walmart, two Targets, countless stores, numerous malls, and more restaurants than you could feasibly eat at. Just across the street from Calypso must be 15+ restaurants (primarily Asian cuisine) to choose from. Definitely great if you’re a foodie.
Overall, many of the criticisms are valid, but note that many of the people who live here are «privileged» and have unreasonable expectations. They’re the kinds of people who would find something to complain about wherever they go. But that’s OK, there’s nothing wrong if someone chooses to be that way — just don’t let their complaints affect your opinion of Calypso.

Having lived here for about 9 months now… I couldn’t be happier. I would definitely do your best to read through all of the Unilocal reviews and then come take a tour for yourself to get your own impression of the facilities. Obviously, everyone’s experience is unique, a lot of which is more than likely related to the neighbors in direct proximity to your apartment. The main reason I checked this place out originally is because I wanted to avoid Irvine Apartment Company like the plague. This is NOT owned by Irvine Apartment Company. As far as the leasing office goes, I have had nothing but a positive experience with them. Only one time since I’ve been living here have I visited them during business hours to find no employees present, and this was only because they were giving a quick tour to other visitors (which I think is pretty fair). Other than that, they have been extremely attentive. The maintenance crew has also been very attentive. One time my washer/​dryer was acting a little funny and when I called, I had a new one in my apartment within a few hours (impressive). The parking is gated and extremely convenient as the structure is never full and it’s usually pretty easy to find a spot on your floor. The pool and gym are cleaned weekly and overall I think this facility is maintained very well. I’ve lived in several apartment complexes over the past 10 years and for the price, I’m extremely satisfied. In my opinion, if you took a poll of the entire complex, my guess is that the majority of tenants living here would tell you that they have had a very positive living experience. Finally, I have read in a previous review from a disgruntled tenant that the «five star reviews on here are fake». Hahaha… I’m a real person typing with real fingers… I promise.

The most disgusting place you will ever live at. Trash everywhere. The filthiest most inconsiderate trashy residents i have ever seen. They either dont own trashcans or they just think its classy to eat their shyt in the hallways and leaving their trash there. How about management puts up no littering signs? Cameras? No? Oh that would be too burdensome so lets just let the disgusting residents litter all over the complex. What an embarassment.

I have lived here for almost 1.5 years and what a mistake I made renewing my lease… I regret living here everyday of my life. Maddy K’s comment is absolutely true and couldn’t agree with it more. The whole complex feels like a college dormitory without rules. The manager has tried to fix many things but people living here are non-​compliant, it doesn’t matter what you do.
We’ve been having a problem with noise from upstairs composed of loud music with bass every night and all night for like a year since the day we moved in (no one ever found where it’s coming from), then dog running back and forth upstairs day n night with the next tenant. Smoking neighbors is another problem and piling trash in the trash chute, garage and hallways is another. We had our BMW Emblems from all four tires stolen as well someone hitting my car and leaving a dent twice while parked in the garage (which I fixed out of my own pocket). There are so many parties and noise on the weekends.
I am tired… So is my husband… My family. Please save yourself some trouble if you are looking for a family oriented place you could call home. It wasn’t like this when we first moved in. So sad to live here.

When you go into the leasing office ask for Nina. She knows what she’s doing and can find you the best living option for your budget. These apartments are really nice. The location has great Asian cuisine right across the street. There is also a close exit to jump onto the highway 5. The cost is unfortunately pricy but it’s California what do you expect.

If I could give less than one star I would. Since we have moved in we have had nothing but issues. The dishwasher didn’t work for a month, the A/​C leaked water all over our bathroom, our fridge door didn’t close properly, the list goes on and on. So of course we’ve called maintenance several times. The maintenance team in our apartment has caused more issues– things rifled through and THEFT for example. When we reported it, they basically called us liars and took zero action. This lease can’t end soon enough. I don’t feel safe in my own home here. Pathetic excuse for an apartment complex.

Showed up at 4:45 and they were already gone. Last thing on their mind is customer service. It is all about them and not about the customer obviously.

After seeing an ad on craigslist for a beautiful studio apartment for $ 1500, I promptly made an appointment to view this community. Upon arriving early for my appointment, I met with a nice man who said he could help me right away. I told him I was interested in the studio I saw on CL, referenced the ad and the cost advertised. He then informed me that because there was only 1 of those studios left, they raised the price from $ 1500 to $ 1920. I questioned him on this repeatedly. You raised this apartment $ 420/​month, because there’s only 1 left? What kind of business practice is that? He gave me some business BS about market price and demand. No. Just classic bait and switch. I’d advise not wasting your time if you have a budget you’d like to stick to.

I stopped by the leasing office 3 times this week to see about an apt. Everytime I go there there is no one there.
Pass…don’t want to think about what happens when I live there and have an issue if no one is available to show a prospective tenant.
The property did look nice and they were repainting.

I recently moved in and I love everything about Calypso. It truly is a chill, comfortable place to live. I got the Studio which feels like a true 1 bed honestly you have a divider wall between the living and bedroom, and the bedroom is huge! The closet space is amazing. Do not ever choose to live at an «Irvine Company Community» Always opt to live under another Apartment community. Calypso Staff is great too, made the process from signing app and lease to moving very smooth. I hated where I lived before and this is such a huge plus, I love coming home after a long day of work!

This review is for how the leasing office.
I work 2 minutes from Calypso, so the location is perfect for me.
I have been searching for good privately owned apartment companies in Irvine because I do not want to live in an Irvine Company apartment again. I came across Calypso because I drive by it all the time. Here are a few reasons why I like them so much
1. Property is well kept. Currently they are repainting the entire complex to keep the place looking nice. They have super cute Vegas style cabanas around the pool.
2. The floor plans are all amazing. I specifically like the studio and 1 bedrooms. The studio is perfect for a single girl like myself. The bathrooms are very large and they DO NOT have sliding glass doors on the bathtubs. This is a huge deal to me. I hate they irvine company sliding doors on the bathtubs. They have large garden tubs. Plenty of kitchen space and storage too.
3. If you choose a floor plan that has carpet, you can request them to put in wood flooring in the entire apartment.
3. The entire complex is very nice and modern. I am looking to upgrade from where I am currently living.
4. The leasing staff was very attentive and nice. When there were no more floor plans available I was very bummed. But Nina, in the office, made sure to keep in contact with me and when a studio became available at the perfect move-​in time, she immediately emailed me and let me know. She took the time to show me a couple of apartments even when she was having alarm issues in the front office. She was very honest with me. I don’t like it when I feel that a leasing office is only trying to sell me, I like it when they are honest and answer all my questions in confidence. She did make me feel good about the place.
Regardless of how the place looks, the floor plans, the price I mainly chose Calypso because of how nice the staff is. I put my deposit down on their last studio this morning and I am more that excited! I am so happy with my choice! If are deciding on where to live, just at least stop by Calypso. They will blow you away!

This Monday, I decided to go apartment hunting. On Thursday, I moved into Calypso!!! The customer service provided by the leasing staff, the cleanliness of the complex, and upgraded appliances and fixtures easily convinced me that I found my home! Thank you for making the daunting task of moving much less intimidating!

After reading all of the positive feedback and reviews about this complex, my fiancé and I decided to go take a look at the property. At 3:30pm on a Wednesday afternoon (mind u, their leasing office hours state 10a-​7pm), we found the door locked and no one available in the leasing office. We flagged down a maintenance guy on the property and he was of no help, telling us he believed the leasing office employees were at lunch and had no idea when they were to return. We asked him if he could help us by possibly calling someone to let them know new customers were waiting for a property tour… he declined to do so. We left, ran an errand and came back 30 min later… STILL CLOSED!!! So disappointed in the lack of service here because the property really does look appealing, but we will not return and or consider a lease here.

I’ve lived in calypso for about 2 years now. I moved in when Lynn and her team managed. Whenever I had work orders, I either called or came to the office to put it in and they made sure it was done! The only complaint I have is the parking. There isn’t any designated spots or stickers that identify cars that are able to park in the garage. It gets a little irritating coming home and having no spot to park in! There is a policy of two cars per apartment, but there are many apartments that have 3 or more cars. Overall, I would recommend calypso.

Just moved in about a month ago and haven’t been more happier!!! This place is amazing and so are the people in the leasing office. All the people in there from Oleg, Carey, and Katrina have been the best. They made the moving process so easy and without any delays.

Great property with an even better team. My wife and I just moved into Calypso back in January. Carey was awesome on the tour and was attentive to my wife’s concerns.
The online application was a breeze and we locked a place down within an hour.
There was a little hiccup at move in but Oleg was quick to handle it and make sure we moved in without any delay.

As far as Irvine Communities, we really enjoyed living at Calypso for 4 years. We’ll be sure to recommend Katrina R. the Community Director, her team, and the Calypso property to anyone we know moving to Irvine.

Used to live here about a year ago with a friend. Let me say if your fed up with IAC this might be one of the few alternatives and turst me its a good one. They sometimes give you referral cash for friends moving in so look for that. This place is always being cleaned and if its not cleaned, a simple peak into office and its taken care of. The place is pretty darn quiet unless you leave on the Jamboree side… but that would be your own fault if you choose to live on the busiest street in Irvine. Gym is small but bigger then my last Villa Siena gym. Pool is super clean and no one uses it.
When it came top renewing my lease they were super fair! Thanks Jeremy and Lynn. My move out was the most fair thing I have ever gone through. Calypso didn’t charge me a dime on my move out. IAC (Villa Siena) charged for microwave cleaning and whats funny is, I cleaned the hell out of it before I moved out.

I just moved into this complex recently and so far so good. There’s no assigned parking spot or guest parking– your friends and family can park anywhere in the structure. The guest box is very convenient– you can open the gate by answering your cell phone when they buzz you.
The staff is very friendly and helpful. Maintenance requests are taken care of right away, usually within the day or at most, a couple of days. The gym is 2 story and it’s not connected to any tenant building so you can work out anytime and not feel like you’re disturbing the neighbors! You can bring up to 2 guests into the gym, unlike other complexes where they don’t allow any guests at all.
This is the only complex where I have to pay a statement preparation fee. They contract out the monthly rent invoices and pass that cost back to you. You also have to pay for sewer, garbage, and water to the complex along with rent. Electricity and Gas are your separate accounts. All appliances are stainless steel but bathroom floors are «fake tiles». Besides paying literally all utilities, the complex is very nice and they have the best management and staff here! There’s a gas fire pit and a couple more grills near the meditation area. Very quite and small community so I feel more homey here than any other complexes that I’ve lived at nearby.
I would recommend anyone to move here!
