I loooooooove this place! That should sum up my review. My family and I are here all the time and if we’re really stumped for takeout ideas, we get this. You see, the one thing I really missed since we left the Bronx was real Mexican food, huaraches, sopes, crumbled up chorizo, queso fresco, big pieces of meat with nopales and the list goes on and on. My mom had been reading about this place, it’s fairly new and suggested it one late night and we went. We usually end up there pretty late at night and the staff is always welcoming. The chips and salsa are beyond addictive and everyone knows you judge a Mexican restaurant by their salsa. Very dangerous when I’ve sworn off grains too. So I pretty much have to be good most of the week in case I end up here because I know I need to eat here. Even though their salads look pretty good too. The table side guacamole is beyond delicious, I mean I love avocado but I’m super picky with guacamole. This stuff is killer and they ask you how spicy you want it and everything, it’s just great. The salchipapas are so awesome, they’re like a meal themselves, the chorizo, onions, potatoes and melted cheese with tortillas on the side really hits the spot. I’d say you can split it between two people. It might be nice to get if you plan on drinking right away, it’s a little bit of a carbfest. The flautas with chicken are addictive, very cheesy and on a mountain of lettuce with some crema right over the top, all the real deal stuff here. But I generally go for the huaraches. The tortilla is fresh, not too thick but not so thin that everything will fall off and make a mess. The masa is the perfect thickness to hold the beans, meat, crema and queso and I’m a pretty happy girl, because then I don’t feel like I ate a ton of carbs. On a total and complete indulgent day, I’ve gotten the flan, which is pretty decent, not a throw away at all. We went with friends one time who got the tres leches and declared it the best they had ever had and I must admit it looked very enticing so I’ll have to try to get the hubby or mom to get it next time so I can get a very critical opinion. The only thing I’ve been disappointed with so far was my drink. I’ve only ordered one once and I found it to be a bit weak. I’ve seen other people on other nights having margaritas who were obviously three sheets to the wind, but my drink just wasn’t doing anything for me, although it did taste good. Maybe it was a bad day though. The service is always great though! I have never had a bad meal from here. I hope they’re around for a long time. I guess I just need a tshirt that says«will work out for Chinita Poblana.»

Came here for a belated birthday dinner and was not disappointed. I regret not getting the table-side guacamole, that will be a must my next time around. I had the Flauta de pollo, which was so delicious. Crispy on the outside, chicken and cheese on the inside served on top of lettuce along with avocado. YUM! My mother got the grilled salmon and loved it. For dessert we got the fried ice cream and were delighted that they lit it on fire next to us. Great service and dining atmosphere. I will definitely be coming back very soon!

Very tasty slightly upscale mexican restaurant. I would come back just for the the tableside guacamole, it was so good! Quite possibly the best guac I’ve ever had out a restaurant, and rivaling my homemade verison. I tried their chile margarita which was good, but a little sweeter than I would have liked. The rest of the food I had was very good, my dish came with one cheese enchilade in mole sauce in addition to sliced flank steak and sauteed onions and peppers. The onions, peppers, and steak were my favorite. I wasn’t a huge fan of their mole though, a little too much on the chocolately side for me, but overall the food was definitely 4 star worthy.

Excellent food, atmosphere, pleasant, friendly and attentive staff. Have been on three occasions with my husband and always pleased. Went for New Years Eve dinner. Was given choice of complimentary glass of champagne or shot of tequila along with a New Year’s Eve hat or tiara, beads and a horn. It’s the little things! Highly recommend!

this place is amazing. They make everything from scratch, even the tortilla chips that came with the guacamole. The tableside guacamole is the best guac you will ever eat. It is fantastically amazing. The nachos are unbeatable. The cheese is melted over almost all the chips. it’s perfect. The tacos were great, and the enchiladas were good, just not our taste. The service is ok and so is the atmosphere, but the food is so perfect you can ignore everything else.

Way overpriced Mexican food, nor the best tasting have had. Great presentation but poor service. They asked me what kind of Coke I wanted and I said American. I rec’d a Mexican Coke for 3 dollars. I asked for a chicken fajita wrap they served me chicken fajita dinner. 20 dollars! Never going back. Period.

Where has this place been all my life? Was looking for a bite at a new site. Unilocalers recommend Italian food but my tastebuds wanted Mexican. #tacotuesday the enchiladas reminded me of the day’s my mom used to cook and the whole family would come over for her phenomenal enchiladas. Quite nostalgic. The churros are on point. Food was fresh and delicious.

Food was very tasty, but the menu is a little pricey. They prepared some dishes next to your table, which was cool. No complaints.

On a Tuesday night I had a sudden desire for Tacos so I dragged My wife who’s an ever ready Mexican food companion. We went some place local which sadly was closed and Angie said let’s head off to Irvington because she has read about this place. Well the 20 mile drive from Northern Westchester plus the hype was worth it. Great salsa, fresh warm baked chips, fresh custom made table side guac and the evening was set for greatness. Angie had her Ceviche and I, fish tacos; both decorative and delicious. Of course the churros to end the night and … aaaaaahhhh(angelic choir sound effect) We debriefed and agreed on the ride back home that this restaurant represented Mexico better in food than the resort we stayed in Riviera Maya Mexico itself. We ate at 9pm, later than usual but we were happy we did. Hey guys! Expect us back with the whole

This is true Mexican cuisine. Every dish is thoughtfully and creatively prepared. Dishes such as Mole Enchilada had an incredibly rich, deep flavor. Even the rice was exquisite.

Stopped in on a Sunday afternoon after reading some reviews here and having totally given up on Tomatillo. The restaurant was very quiet but we were not deterred as it was an off time – late for lunch/early for dinner. The décor was attractive, the room spacious and the staff very welcoming. We started with a fried calamari appetizer and some white sangria. Both were excellent. We followed with mole enchiladas and vegetarian tacos. Both surpassed expectations. I should specify that the dishes we had were all quite mild. The heat level seems to be geared to the average American plate. When the tres leches arrived we were blown away. Beautifully presented and so scrumptious. So glad these guys opened. Will def be back.

Phenomenal restaurant! Easily the best Mexican food in Westchester, and up there against the best in NYC. The ceviche was fantastic and the duck in mole sauce was truly incredible(and I generally don’t love mole). I also tried my wife’s carne asada which was seriously delicious. Plus, the service was superb. Do not hesitate to go to this place!

So good! We’ve been here twice, and it’s always been busy– and we can see why! Here’s everything we’ve had, with rating 1 – 5: Tableside guacamole: 5. Because you can customize it, it’s hard to go wrong. They use 1.5 avocados for the guac, and it’s so fresh and amazing. We love ours with extra cilantro and lime juice. Salpicon de Jaiba: 3.5. Defintely worth ordering, but the portion is a little small for the price! It was really good, though, especially when piled on tortilla chips. Pato en Mole Poblano: 5. This is seriously the most delicious thing I’ve eaten for the past few months. The mole is amazing, and the duck with the sweet plantains make a perfect combo. MUSTTRY. Carne Azada: 4. This was my first time trying grilled cactus! I thought it was pretty good, but the texture was a little odd for me. Mix everything together and it turned really good. Not sure if I’ll order it again, but it was fun to try. Steak was cooked perfectly. Canre a la Tampiquena: 4. Once again, the steak was cooked just right. And man, that mole sauce is something to die for. Boyfriend had it and thought it was delicious. We’ve also had a few desserts– the plaintains and ice cream were really good. The churros were okay– a little too crispy for my liking. The reason they get four stars instead of five is because the service can be a little rough. My friend ordered a quesadilla and they just forgot to make it and bring it out, but when we told them it was removed from our bill. The first time we were there they were so incredibly busy and there was only like one waiter; I felt so bad for him but he tried his best to make sure we had a great experience. Overall, we really enjoy this restaurant and we can’t wait to come back!

Excellent service!!! Came in with hubby and son for a quick dinner. Food was good, drinks were excellent! Enjoyed two feliz margaritas and they were very generous with their liquor. Very laid back atmosphere and our waitress was very attentive to us! Will def be back for some feliz margaritas. ;)

Very charming spot in the heart of Irvington’s main street. The service was good, and our waiter was very attentive. There were three people in my party and we all ordered enchiladas. Each with a different filling and sauce. I ordered guacamole for the table and it was pretty good. The server makes it to order at your table. Being from Texas I was a little skeptical, but was pleasantly surprised at the quality and variety of food options. Their margaritas were good as well. I’d suggest making reservations if you go on a Friday or Saturday. We went around 6:15pm, and within 20 to 30 minutes it was packed.

Very tasty classic Mexican. The chicken tacos are very good and they offer two different styles to choose from. The only bad part about the tacos is they get soggy very fast. I’d suggest they create a thicker taco or use a hard shell. There is table side guacamole which is always good(you can let them know how spicy you like it) and the addictive salsa. the ceviche is also good– great summer time choice. In the summer there is outside seating which I find quite enjoyable. If your going to get a cocktail try their sangria. Yummy! My only big complaint is service can be quite slow. I was waiting so long my first visit that I got so full from chips and salsa that I didn’t want to order much else. If they want people to order more I’d suggest that they take their customers order before they finish an entire bowl of chips and salsa. Over all the food was tasty and will go back.

Not a bad Mexican place in the area of Irvington, they have outside sitting and the restaurant is big to have a couple of tables inside. The staff is very good; they make guacamole in front you I think that is kind of cool. My friends and I share an order of Crispy Calamari what was not bad. For my main course I order from the Antojitos menu I had the Flauta de pollo a hard shell corn tortilla with fresh cheeses, crispy hand rolled with chicken inside. Served with shredded lettuce, they were huge, delicious and kind of messy but also so great and crunchy.

Just had dinner there tonight after having heard good things about it. First of all, great Chilli margarita with fresh lime juice! We had an order of guacamole to start and they make it right in front of you and it is fantastic. For dinner I had the chicken enchilada with the mole sauce and it was the best I’ve ever had. We shared the flan for dessert and it was creamy and delicious. Service was great and everyone was very friendly.

So glad that this spot opened in Irvington. From the red sangria to the churros, everything was spot on. We were warmly greeted and never rushed… we even got to order and eat our appetizers before placing or entrée orders. Everything tasted fresh and zesty, like you were looking forward to each bite everytime your fork left your mouth… Tacos al pastor were perfectly cooked with pineapple chunks hidden within the succulent meat. Cheese enchiladas with mole sauce were another hit, as were the perfectly crisp fried calamari. This place has great service, and a solid assortment of dishes. I wish they had plantains as a side dish, as I only saw it listed as an accompaniment to the duck…

Overall delicious food, large portions and very nice staff! Prices match those of other restaurants in the area. If you don’t want to spend as much then stick with Antojitos(translation is «snacks» which includes tacos and enchiladas, but in my opinion they are completely filling enough as entrees). This place would be really fun for a birthday dinner or ladies’ night out! They serve both lunch and dinner. I came here when they first opened, and again earlier this week. They of course give you chips and salsa when you sit down. We sampled the sangria which was sweet and strong(they have both white and red) — I’d come back to have it during happy hour! Started with the guacamole which was okay(if you want it spicy you can tell them) but very fresh and they prepare it in front of you. I had traditional cheese enchiladas in green sauce(this sauce is not spicy) for my entrée — So good! My friend had the alambres mixtos, which was chicken, steak, shrimp, onions and peppers on a platter with melted cheese on top and some kind of yummy sauce on the side. The meat was really juicy and had a great charbroiled flavor. Everything came with rice and refried beans(I don’t think that’s specified on the menu — The rice was good… the beans were bland but I guess that’s just how they are). During my first visit here I had traditional steak tacos — the meat for that dish was a little overcooked and didn’t really have much flavor… I informed them about it being overcooked so maybe they’ve improved it by now. DESSERT here is decadent!!! First time I came I had the churros which were amazing — they give you a chocolate sauce and a white sauce to dip. Second time I had the tres leches cake which was also good. Next time I definitely plan on having the«fried ice cream». They also have apple crepes, fried plantains, Mexican coffee, Mexican hot chocolate(made with real melted chocolate), and they’re apparently getting an espresso machine soon.
