If you’re in Dobbs, this is the place to go for quality Mexican food. They make excellent tacos and burritos with local, mostly organic ingredients. They make spectacular margaritas too! The salsa is really fresh, and the queso(when it’s available) is a must have! The only knock here is the service. Most of the servers don’t pay much attention to what’s going on. So, you can sit for awhile without being served, or be completely done with your meal, and wait forever for the check. With a little more oversight/supervision, this would be a go to place for local/fine Mexican cuisine. Kudos to the Chef!

Love the vegetarian options, nice service, and tasty food. Great that it’s farm to table and they serve great cocktails. It’s not traditional/authentic Mexican food but it’s really yum.

I just love this place more and more each time I go. Yesterday I tried an item off of their brunch menu – eggs, goat cheese and spinach burrito. So darn GOOD! Last time I tried the Syd Fishus naked burrito and that was mind blowing. The Bloody Mary is super flavorful and spicy and yummy too. I have come to like this place better at lunch time on weekends because it is less busy than dinner time since it is small, but the staff is great and the food is as fresh and flavorful as it gets!

I can only comment on the take out service during the day. Customer service was friendly and food comes out quickly. Ingredients tasted fresh and they have vegetarian options which is nice. Burritos are huge and the salad portion was just enough. This place is ideal for a quick and reasonably priced lunch. I will definitely return.

The food is okay, but they almost always screw up the order — especially when a food allergy is involved. This used to be a reliable option, but not any more.

I can’t love this place more! Just had lunch there with some coworkers and we are all obsessed and talking about the next time we’re going back. The buffalo tempeh burrito — AMAZING! I wish I had another one to eat right now :)

Is it traditional Mexican food? Nope. Is it delicious? YES! Tomatillo is a farm to table restaurant that serves some of the best TexMex in the area. Their occasional Tacos Al Pastor are mind-blowing, just as everything else on their menu. It doesn’t hurt that they mix an exceptional margarita. Be warned, it’s small and always busy, but if this was Manhattan the speed and size wouldn’t be out of place.

Fresh and delicious food. Impressively unique margarita selection. Friendly and attentive waitstaff. I had enchiladas and jalapeño cucumber margarita — both were amazing!

The food was very tasty and they have a lot of good burrito options. I really like that they source their ingredients locally(if possible) and list where their meats are from. The restaurant/table arrangement is pretty crowded, though, especially by Westchester standards, and the service was good but not great. We had to ask them for more water, they never asked if we wanted another drink when our glasses were empty, and they didn’t keep track of who ordered which dish. I also didn’t like that when we arrived with a reservation for 4, they sat us at a table near the door and in a busy walking area. I asked for a another table for 4 towards the back that was empty and they said that was reserved for another party, who had a reservation at the same time as us. When that party arrived about ten minutes later, I’m 99.9% sure they didn’t request that specific table based on their conversation as they walked by our table on the way to theirs. I think the hostess should have honored our request to switch tables considering that our reservations were for the same time, we arrived first and the other party would not have known the difference. It’s kind of petty, but it’s something most nice restaurants would do and it started me off on the wrong foot. All in all, the food was very good, which is the most important part, and we had a nice meal. While the service could have been better, I’d still go back.

Tomatillo is a small Farm to Table restaurant in Dobbs Ferry, NY. I very much enjoyed the burrito bowl. The price was reasonable. They have a pretty good selection for those who want or need a special diet such as gluten free or vegetarian. It is a quaint place, but when it is crowded it is a bit noisy. The staff was friendly and efficient. We didn’t have a long wait for our food and it seemed all hands were on deck, as what seemed like some type of manager/supervisor was also bringing food to the tables. I would defiantly return to Tomatillo.

come here for their brunch specials! $ 5 for a magarita that will kick you in the booty is great! However, if you have plans of being active after eating here. think again. their meals are big and heavy! Talk about getting the itis — oh my! The breakfast burrito is filling for sure, and right up the alley of a non-meat eater. I wish there were more eggs in it tho, and maybe some cheese. But otherwise, it was delicious and filled me right up!

Came here craving for burritos after my bf insisted this was a great spot he’s gone to before. Sufficed to say that this place left me hungry and disappointed. The positives of this place is the location, nice décor, great service and the free chips and salsa while you wait for your food. I got the Say Hey Kid which was bland and had a strange texture as if they had little seeds throughout the burrito. My bf made his own style of burrito which he said tasted different then the last time he got it, also noting it was bland that something was missing compared to before. So it seems this place is inconsistent with the food they make sometimes great sometimes terrible. For the dessert we got a Mole bunuelos made of spicy chocolate ice cream. It’s less like the typical deep fried Valley of dough and more like the a deep fried puffed up crêpe topped with ice cream, not what I was expecting. The spicy chocolate ice cream was good though but the fried dough needed powder sugar or something because it was again bland/lacking something. Also there was a fly that flew onto my plate. Never have I ever not finished my burrito before.

Great fresh food: very tasty and often local. Like the selection of Tex-Mex. Would give them five stars, but find the service a little inconsistent during busy times– like the orders have gotten mixed up or I had to wait a while. So double check your stuff if you are ordering take out before you leave! Otherwise, really worth it. You can customize exactly what you get!

I have continued to rave about Tomatillo for years! I try to visit whenever Im back in town. I also always bring someone new to meet there and they have yet to say anything but good things about the food. I am happy I was able to find a place that their food is consistent and dependable and just amazing! I must say however, I think the Flan should be put back onto the menu. RIP Flan :(you will be missed

The food here is GREAT! The service. ehh not so much. Some coworkers and I have been here a few times and I have never had too much of a bad experience. Some small things have annoyed me like the fact that their were no crayons at the table n when I asked for some my waiter forgot about it and never brought them and the lemonade that I ordered was disgusting. did not taste like lemonade at all so I then swapped it out for a ginger ale which tasted like carbonated dirty mop water. I have not had an alcoholic beverage from them so I can’t comment on that. However the atmosphere is very«creative» and you find a lot of things that catch your eye. I mean all in all people come here for the food and they are winning in that department but I like to have a good total experience.

Tried Tomatillo for the first time today on the recommendation of a friend. We arrived around noon on a Saturday and were seated quickly, and decided what we wanted within about five minutes of sitting down. Fifteen minutes later, our waitress still had not come back to check on us and take our order. Around the same time, a personal mini-emergency came up and I needed to get my food to go if it could be ready at a reasonable time. I got up out of my seat and found the waitress to make her aware of my situation. I explained that we had been waiting a long time to have our order taken, and that we now needed to get our food to go. She apologized and told us our order would be moved to the front so we could be on our way. About 5 minutes later, our food was ready. I really, really appreciated her help and it made my experience much more positive than I thought it would be after waiting for what I thought was a lengthy amount of time. I had the Syd Fishus burrito(mahi mahi) which was pretty good. I’m still holding out hope that there’s a delicious, reasonably priced Mexican restaurant in Westchester that seasons their food well.(Why is everything always so bland?) Regardless, the food was okay. What I really appreciated was their commitment to making things right and helping me get my food to go fast. Thank you again!

Tuesday, lunchtime, was my first visit to Tomatillo. I will certainly return. My sister enjoyed her Harvest Burrito, which she ordered because she had already enjoyed a Harvest Burrito a month ago. I selected a Seasonal Veggies Enchilada partly because it comes with black beans(and rice). Also, the word enchilada brings back memories of New Mexican chile. I missed the heat of New Mexico, which did not travel to Cedar St., Dobbs Ferry. We inquired for decaf cappuccino. «Sorry, only decaf is French press.» — At 1 p.m. the place was packed with people 25 – 40 years old. I wonder where they come from. Staff of a nearby hospital? Or Mercy College teachers? Or workers from offices somewhere? On Cedar Street, the lunch options are much better than in South Westchester Executive Park.

I’m not sure why all the harshness from everyone because this is my favorite Mexican restaurant in New York right now. They get crowded sometimes… because its great food. I’ve never had trouble getting seated immediately or just popping in at the bar. For starters the salsa is amazing — sweet, a little spicy and just the right amount of chunky. They’re always quick to replace chip baskets. I sware I go through like 4 baskets every time and its great. The drinks are big and usually pretty stiff. I love the Jalapeño Margarita, full of real pepper pieces and made with Tanteo Tequila. I’ve had the beer sampler too which is a great deal for only six bucks. The food is always awesome. I’m a vegetarian so i’m a huge fan of the barbeque tempeh and i’ll occasionally get the Mahi(during celebrations). The verde sauce is fantastic and the rice and beans(R&D) is always perfect. Also i love the amount of hot sauces there are floating around the restaurant — always fun to swap with the table next to you. On top of the great tasting food, its also great quality — all farm to table with the exception of the fish — which is great quality, just from a little further away.(I know all the meat is local, grass-fed etc. where applicable). It would be nice to get stuff from somewhere aquaponic in New York — i’d be willing to pay an extra dollar for that. Tomatillo is great and always keeps me coming back. The waitresses are all super nice, accommodating and friendly. This is a fun casual spot in Westchester worth visiting.

This place puts the local Tarrytown taco restaurant to absolute shame. Please, I beg you, if you can detour to Tomatillo, do yourself a huge favor. It almost makes me angry. I want to take a Tomatillo burrito into the offending restaurant(and truly, their food does offend me greatly), slam it down on the counter and demand they reverse engineer the damned thing. See this burrito? It doesn’t taste like a stewed diaper. Figure it out. The«La Bandera» is stuffed full of tender, smoky chicken that tasted as if it had been simmered in a quality mole sauce, sauteed onions, sweet peppers, rice and black beans smothered in a delicious hot salsa verde, a rich red chili sauce and cool homemade guacamole. It was big, super fresh and attained the perfect balance of sweet, spicy and savory. The«Chicken Club» was also way above average, packed with chicken and chunks of chorizo sausage topped with the same incredible salsa verde. We ate at one of the two tables on the street and, coupled with few cold beers, had the best little lunch I’ve had in some time. The only criticism I could possibly muster is that the tomato salsa that came free with the chips is a little bland. But it was FREE… so I should just shut my dirty tramp mouth about it. Who do I think I am, anyway? Dear Tarrytown taco place, I’m breaking up with you. It’s not me… it’s you. It’s totally you. Maybe someday when you get your sh*t together we can be friends. But probably not, because I really can’t stand looking at your face. I’m trading up. Good luck in your future endeavors… like learning to cook and not sucking. Consult with Tomatillo for pointers on both.
