I love the doctors and staff here. They are very kind, helpful, compassionate and quickly answer any questions or concerns I have. I take my three little furry babies here and I know they are in the best of hands. Also, if they ever overcharge me they quickly refund the charge.
Only thing I wish that if my angels were ever really ill and they were closed if I would be able to speak to one of the doctors before taking one of them to an emergency clinic if needed.

Friendly, warm, and professional, this office has done a phenomenal job of taking care of my two cats over the past two years. They’re fast and knowledgable, and thankfully never pressure me into purchasing unnecessary procedures or medicines.
Their Saturday walk-​in hours until either 2pm or 3pm is extremely convenient, as it’s difficult for me to take in my fine feline friends during the week for their annual vaccines. When I did go longer than I should’ve without updating their shots, Dr. Alvarez did not scold me for being irresponsible, something I truly appreciate. It is certainly comforting to have such a respectful and kind vet taking care of your little fluff monsters.
I totally dig this place and it will be the vet office for my little schmoopsies for years to come.

My little Sophie recently started clawing at her ears and the front desk nurse Carol or something along those lines was sweet enough to squeeze me in right before closing… wonderful people reasonable prices.

I been taking my cat here for the past week. He’s sick unfortunately, and the vet diagnosed him with hyperthyroidism. :(but that’s not the point. They are very kind people, however I feel that the staff were more informative than the vet. It almost seem as if the vet just does the great job and that’s it. They don’t really inform you on much unless you’re really there asking questions and so on. Nonetheless their services are great and prices are reasonable. But just keep in mind to go in there aware of your pets condition and question every «next step» the vet will take. Other than that I’d keep going there. And their animals are so cute and healthy! So it kinda makes you think to yourself «okay… Well obviously they know what their doing».

I cannot speak higher of Dr. Reihle and his staff. They are warm, caring, knowledgable, and TRUE animal lovers. After going to every vet in the jackson heights neighborhood as well as plenty in the city (and even NJ) I am so lucky to have found them.
My dog is extremely difficult and large and they know exactly how to handle her. Don’t hesitate, if you want the best care for your pet at a reasonable price come to Heights Vet.

Easiest vet appointment I’ve been to. I was pleased that dr. Alvarez didn’t pressure me to buy other things like dentals and such as my dog is a healthy young pup.

Amazing group of people, from the receptionist to the doctors. They are very caring and explained very well of what you have to do. I love the fact that appointments are easy to get. I will highly recommend this vet.

Very welcoming and understanding about my not so friendly cat. The staff is friendly and helpful. Prices are reasonable. Great service overall, will definitely continue to take Luna here.

This neighborhood office is caring and wonderful. The staff knows how to handle our German Shepherd who is uncooperative and not all vet staffs can handle her.
Dr.Riehle is especially calm and helped us through a problem.
I would heartily recommend their services to all!

I took my dog there for his yearly vaccinations and an ear infection. He is the biggest drama king and always makes the biggest fuss about everything. But the staff and Dr. Alvarez were super and took care of business. I will be making this my home vet office.

I visited because my cat was having bladder issues. I called about 5 vet offices in Woodside/​Sunnyside/​Astoria and the front desk here won me over in terms of being polite and professional. Definitely puts me at ease when I’m already on edge with my sick kitty.
I could just walk-​in so that was great. Dr. Alvarez listened to me, asked me questions, and told me about urinary tract issues that are common in cats. I was so thankful he prescribed me an antibiotic right away. The vet tech also seemed nice, my cat didn’t yowl at her like she has in other offices in the past.

I have been to this veterinary clinic at least 5 times since getting our Shih Tzu puppy, Oreo, back in July. We have seen both Dr. Riehle and Dr. Alvarez. I have brought Oreo in for regular scheduled shots, and for an emergency after she got a hold of some green mouse poison. Every time I come here i am so happy I chose this vet clinic. The staff is fantastic and very knowledgeable. Dr. Alvarez is very patient with the humans, as he explains things very thoroughly. He always put the needs of the doggie first. Dr. Riehle we have seen for both check ups and for the emergency with the mouse poison. He was truly fantastic with me because I was so worried my Oreo was going to bleed to death. The induced vomiting, and 28 days of Vitamin K fixed her up! I can’t say enough good things about this practice.
I don’t find them horribly expensive, so I am not certain what others are complaining about. Pets, much like children, are an expensive undertaking.
Oreo has to be spayed now, so I’ll write up a review on that, too.

Here’s the down and dirty:
Close to my house, always quick to see us, open almost everyday. Medically — the pets are treated and their ailment/​illness/​injury is remedied with a good treatment.
Why I gave it 4 stars — convenience and good medical treatment. The cons are not enough to keep me away from this vet seeing that it’s so close and never steered my pets wrong in terms of treatment and diagnosis.
Dr. Riehle is great. A quiet guy, but knows his stuff and gives me options about different plans for treatment so he leaves it up to me while still giving his recommendations. He also has never made me get tests or extra treatment just for the money if it was not necessary.

Doc Alvarez refuse to check my baby pup because he is Pitbull. He said my dog need to be tranquilized because someone will get hurt!!! He left the room and slam door after him!!! Disgusting rude and so unprofessional!!! I had a very good recommendation before I got there to doc. Riehl unfortunately we couldn’t see him. But this man Alvarez is the worst I have ever met.

I’ve visited this office three times now in about 4 months. I got a puppy in January who needed all his shots. To start they have walk-​in hours until 4pm on weekdays which is amazing. No need for an appointment for routine stuff. The first visit was just his first round of shots in and out in five minutes, about 80 dollars, fantastic! The second visit was for his second round, heart worm meds, stool test and an ear infection less than $ 200! I took him this morning because he was scooting his rear so bad he couldn’t sleep and all he needed was his anal sacs expressed 42 bux for the whole visit. I’m not sure what some of these negative reviews are about. Cost so far has been beyond reasonable. Try any vet in the suburbs and you’ll shut up and fast. So far: kind, caring, quick and low cost. Found my family vet office for sure.

I’ve been taking my cats to this vet since I moved to the ‘hood in 1996. In all of those 15 years, I have never had an issue with the care provided or the service. The staff is always polite and talkative. When I had to put my cat down, due to throat and esophageal cancer. I agree that the prices can be a bit steep — and knowing this, I tell the doctors up front what I want done and how much my budget is. Since my cats don’t go outside or come in contact with other animals, I don’t subject them to rabies shots. Maybe that is why, my 16 year-​old, blind a birth (and now going deaf — smh) is «healthy as a horse.»

Really generous folks here. I took my really sick kittens that i’ve rescued. And the veterinarian checked them out and gave them medications for free. Really shows how they care about your pets more then the money.

This is a small veterinary office in Jackson Heights. It seems pretty sketchy from the outside but is actually fine inside. I brought my cat here for a problem that developed rather quickly, I was able to be seen the day that I called.
As with most vets, the visit was pricey. I paid for an exam and instead of doing a full vet exam (e.g., a semi-​annual checkup including looking at the teeth, etc.) the vet only addressed the problem that my cat was having that day. I asked about his weight, feeding, etc. and the vet said that he looked fine. (The vet wasn’t familiar with Blue Buffalo cat food which I thought was odd as it is a premium food…) I expected more from this visit especially because of the cost. During the visit my cat received an antibiotic shot that cost around $ 40 — I wasn’t asked if I wanted my cat to have the shot or given any other options (like a less expensive antibiotic pill).
After the visit I went to pay and was told the amount and was not given a detailed invoice/​receipt until after my credit card had been charged. At that point I realized that I paid $ 40 for the shot plus an additional $ 75 for two medications. When I got home I did some research and found that these medications are available for MUCH less at other pharmacies. (one of the medications is on the Target $ 4 generic list…) I know that this is my fault for not asking to see the invoice before paying and that vets often sell prescriptions for a large profit. Don’t make the mistake that I did!
ETA: After speaking with other vets and vet techs I’ve come to learn that the medications given to my cat were much too strong for the problem that he presented with that day. My cat was given medications that are generally reserved for severe (i.e., life-​threatening) conditions. I won’t be back.

I first chose this vet because they were close and the folks on my community email list spoke highly of them. I’m really glad I brought my cats there.
The assistants and vet were very friendly. They were honest about what middle-​aged indoor cats really need (vaccines and whatnot) and did not try to sell me unnecessary services.
Highly reccomended.
