History

Established in 1965.

On November 6, 1965, Andrew Pylarinos opened A&D Printing at 85 Eldridge Street in Manhattan. The business later moved to Jamaica, Queens in 1971. Andrew’s son John started working in the business in 1977, and took over on January 4, 1989, when Andrew retired. With almost 40 years of experience, John has expertise in both offset and the art of letterpress printing.

I got married a few months ago and needed invitations in 2 different languages I had them done in 2 different places and had 2 completely different experiences. A & D saved the day! What a wonderful experience, wish we printed everything here. Super professional, detailed, thorough, realistic time frames, honest. They got the sample we wanted in 0 time and were able to have our invitations ready extremely quickly. So grateful for A & D, thank you Yanni!

A meticulous, professional and experienced printer still exists!
We printed a complicated program booklet for my job which contained music scores, gray and black text, and a color image. I spent over a week to design and finally took it to John, the owner, when it was complete. He took time-​3hrs– to make sure everything in my booklet would look right. He fixed my margins, my gutters and made the color image look the best it could. When the finished copy arrived it looked perfect. I am unspeakably impressed.
This business is old school and yet, high tech. It smells like paper and old machinery. There is a Linotype machine and he still uses lead sometimes. At the same time, he is proficient in Quark, Photoshop and several other related software applications.
Especially in my field, I’ve seen a lot of lousy design, shoddy layouts and work which could have benefited from the counsel of a professional eye. Its unusual for me to see printing that I like and before I set foot in the shop, I was ambivalent about sending my work out to someone but he ca highly recommended. He does letterhead printing for local churches and many Greek Orthodox calendars.
John exceeded my high expectations and restored my faith in commercial printing.
