Four Corner Floors

Been meaning to write this review.
They did our floors, molding, and painted
floors which seems to be their specialty, over all turned out the way I wanted it too.
Imperfections were noticed later on in the ceiling where you can blatantly notice streaks, not being thoroughly painted and the walls too. I went over some myself but couldnt do the ceilings.
Moldings were also crooked in some places.
There was also on some days they showed up at 11 when they said 9.
Jonathan did follow up and ask me about it which I sent pictures to show him but no reply back…
Over all he was a nice guy, but business wise, there was a level of professionalism that lacked

Forget about other Wood floor installation services. I had contacted over 7 companies. Their quotes were either astronomical or they had a backlog of a month or so. Four Corner Floors beats them all in terms of quality, responsiveness and price.
They were truly fantastic! Jonathan, Sean and Jathon made a difficult and challenging process look super easy. They were able to accommodate my aggressive schedule and meet my budget without compromising quality.
Jonathan is super responsive (both in messaging and over the phone), and the labor was very well priced given the unforeseen challenges involved in the project. I had a crumbling and damaged plywood from a previous bad leak, I had a flawed floor that wasn’t even level. My floor was a total mess.
Four Corner Floors replaced the damaged plywood and resolved a serious humidity problem with the apartment. There was literally a heavy construction work involved and Jonathan and his team were up to the challenge. My floor wasn’t level. Whoever worked on this in the past they did a very cheap and lousy job. Four Corner succeeded in doing the installation look quite seamless despite all the construction defects. The floors look great, everything blends beautifully. They were extremely professional, trust worthy and accommodating to my schedule.
Jonathan even took me in his truck to Home Depot to shop for material and saved me the cost and hassle of shipping. Next day Jathon took me for another ride to HD to buy the rest of the stuff. Sean was so professional and diligent this guy worked two consecutive days 8 hours a day nonstop. A brute horse power without him the job would have taken days!
I can’t recommend them highly enough.

Tough to write this b/​c I really want small shops to do well. I tried Four Corner Floors based solely on the Unilocal reviews and my experience was not representative of the 4.5 Unilocal rating this company had at the time I hired them. As a participant in the Unilocal community I feel obliged to contribute to a healthy, balanced forum for service seekers, like myself, who are tasked with wading through dozens of contractors in search of trustworthy business people who do «good» work. The review below is based on my experience, perhaps yours will be different:
Estimate, Hiring — Fine
Service — Decent, they wanted to do a good job but kept missing
Execution — not good, frustratingly sloppy
Ethics — OK, seemed to struggle with balance for quality work/​materials and managing for a profit. There were two questionable decisions that I couldn’t tell if they were the result of being «shady» or if they just didn’t have any business sense — still unsure.
Here are the major issues we experienced:
— Pools of polyurethane were left in corners.
— Poly stains along floorboards, kitchen cabinets, tile foyer
— Uneven application of poly, droplets and missed spots on the floor
— Nails-​heads left exposed after sanding
— Uneven sanding, dips and circular sanding patterns left in floor
— totally missed spots on the floor, around furniture, appliance edges and baseboards
Some areas of the floors look OK but after the second attempt to correct the issues created new issues we decided to pull the plug on the engagement. It didn’t make sense for us to risk additional time and another missed execution. We are left with floors that are not really finished and just look plain bad in some areas. Very disappointing outcome.
I hope these guys recover but my experience with them was not good. Based on the results we got from our engagement with them, I can not recommend them. Perhaps your experience will be different.

I spoke with Jonathan about doing my floors. I explained that I would need some repairs and then have the floors re done with a good coat of poly. He did sound knowledgeable about my predicament. When I originally called him and told him where I lived he had no problem. I asked him about his bona fides and such and wasn’t quite sure what to make of what he was telling me. I did more research and called him back, thinking that it would be ok for me to give him the job (still not convinced of his assurances).
The issue that made me not give him the job was during a subsequent conversation, he decided that $ 50.00 be for his tolls and what not to come and give me an estimate. He said nothing about this initially, and it turned me off. I guess this is just as well since he could not provide the bona fides I asked for to begin with.

I used Four Corners and was very satisfied. They ripped up 300sf of carpet then ripped up a Masonite underlayment. Then the new oak floor was laid down by Jason in a very professional manner. He did a neat and perfect job.
Johnathan (the boss) is very patient and communicated with me every day to make sure the job was going well. I would recommend them.

Four Corner Floors did an outstanding job. My oak floors were brought back to life — shiny and beautiful golden… back in live with the entire house. My wife and I were moving into an 1800 sq ft loft space with 2.5″ oak flooring that had been neglected over the last decade… the floors had been PAINTED white and when previous repairs had been done they just laid down a sheet of plywood to fill the gap along with a fresh coat of paint… to say the least, the previous tenants did not respect wood.
We were doing significant renovations to the space in the one month timeframe we had (March 2015) so things were relatively tight. After scouring Unilocal reviews and bidding the project amongst three of the most highly rated flooring specialists (in outer boroughs) Jonathan at Four Corner stood out as the most thoughtful, professional and appreciative to have the job. His is a family business, and he has been doing flooring (previously with his father, now with his brother) for 40 years.
From that first meeting, through his competitive bid (clearly detailed with regards to repairs vs sanding vs staining, etc.) and continuing through the entire job, I knew I was in good hands. The finished product was beautiful and showed the dedication Jonathan and his team bring to the jobs they undertake. Highly recommend Four Corner Floors — thanks Jonathan!

After dealing with horrible contractors… I decided to use Unilocal to locate a decent contractor to work on my floors. I called Jonathan from Four Corner Floors for an estimate. He appeared to be pleasant on the phone. He came over to give me an estimate. After he flirted with me and claimed the quote he offered was a discount. I didn’t dispute the amount because I was eager to have the work completed. We sat on my stoop and discuss everything he was going to for the price. He was going to sand and stain four rooms, hallways and steps. He even offered to strip my front doors and shattered. I gave him deposit and he claimed he would start the following Monday. I had a family emergency where I thought I might need to cancel the appointment. I called Jonathan to cancel the job. He refused to return my deposit. I didn’t have the energy to dispute with him. so I told him to keep the money… after hanging up the phone, he called me back and offered another deal. Instead we decided to reschedule the job. I called Jonathan back to complete my floors. He was able to start the next day. He claimed he would be at my house at 10 am. He showed up at my house around 11am with one worker. He asked for some more money to purchase the material. I told him I was unable to go to the bank. However, I would be able to give him a check. He insulted me by stating, «I hope this check don’t bounce». He left my house with his worker around 11:15am, claiming he was going to purchase some materials. He did not return to my home until 1pm. Jonathan left this one worker alone to work on my floor. The next day, Jonathan claimed he would be at my house again at 10am. I called him around 1045am. He claimed he was running late and would be at my home shortly. Jonathan did not show up at all. The next day he called me again stating he would be at my house bright and early. Jonathan did not reached my home until 11am. This has been his pattern of business since he started my floors. I have not been please with Jonathan work ethics. He has not treated me or my home with respect.

Six years ago I contacted Jonathan of Four Corner Floors to strip and wax our bedroom floors. His crew did a great job so I decided to call upon them again to strip and wax the Living Room, Dining Room and staircase hardwood floors. Jonathan showed my wife and I a pallet of stains, including photos from completed jobs. He gave us a fair price so we decided to include the staircase handrail and balusters. They did a great job of machine and hand sanding every inch of exposed hardwood. They vacuumed and kept dust to a minimum. After staining they added four coats of HI GLOSS polish (2 water-​oil mix and 2 poly). Jonathan and Sean worked long hours to meet the agreed upon completion date. The floors and staircase are silky smooth and super glossy. My wife and I are very pleased with the outcome. We will continue to use them.
