History
Established in 1872.
The story began in 1872… the building was originally constructed as a boarding house and at saloon. It was at that time located at what was considered the outskirts of town and know as «First and Last Chance Saloon». It over the years was owned by several different families, including the Habig and Eckstein families who also owned the brewery across the street. in 1928, William Giesler purchased the property and placed his two sons in charge. One of those sons, Cyril «Snap» Giesler, bought out his father in 1940 and changed the name to Snap’s Cage. After 60 years in the business Snap retired. It continued to be run under the name of Snap’s Café until 1999. After that it was ran by various owners under various names until 2010. At which time the Mitchell family reopened the business, bringing back what was ultimately the perfect name, SNAPS.
