Abbott’s Bar & Grill

First time visit, will not go back to eat. I am not sure what they are going for here. Is it a bar? Is it a restaurant? They do not excel at either. Service is poor. Not the staff’s fault, they are nice, but poorly trained. The tomato basil «soup» was thicker than a marinara sauce. The calamari was overcooked. The salads were nice and fresh. The steaks were very good and cooked perfectly. But — who wants to spend $ 30 bucks on a steak in that atmosphere and with that service? Odd. Desert tray was a sad affair with dry, sad looking desserts diplayed by a manager with no elaboration about the selection. We did order a yummy lava cake a la mode. It was served on a tiny bread plate. Again, odd. A dessert tray is kind of a fine dining thing, but Abbotts is definitely more Bar and less Grill. If it were my place, I would pick one and work on that. Bathroom had a broken trash can so there were paper towels all over the floor. People smoke around the entrance so you get to walk through that coming and going and the smoke wafts across the dining room every time the door opens — perfectly fine for a bar, not what I look for in a place to eat with the family.

I don’t understand why this place has so many sub par reviews. It completely succeeds at being what it sets out to be, a neighborhood bar, and a good one at that. Great drinks (key word: strong), fresh beers, fast service, and delicious food. There’s also trivia on some nights and live music on others.
What more do you want from a Johns Creek establishment? This isn’t exactly an area known for its hipsters, young people, or wild nightlife! I love this place and my boyfriend loves their $ 4 bloody marys on Sundays. We will definitely continue to come here. Cajun salad with chicken or shrimp is point :) Beats our old nasty and smelly neighborhood bar in Vinings by a mile.

Found this place via a groupon-​type deal. Good move by the owners, as I have been coming to this area for 15 years and they never stood out just around the corner from my usual stop. I ordered the beer-​battered burger — a large burger patty with cheese and bacon mixed in and then beer-​battered and served on a bun with onions and mushrooms grilled in balsamic vinegar — and it was excellent, as was the lime-​chipotle burger my wife ordered. They both came with hand cut fries, which were excellent. Fries are usually picked at since they are there with a burger, but we ate all of these. My wife commented before we even got out the door that these burgers were better than any she’d had for quite some time and we would be coming back here.

My husband and I wanted to try a new place so we decided on Abbott’s. By the end of the meal we were wishing we had just gone to Chili’s or one of the norms. After seeing the pictures, we were really excited to try to the Cajun Shrimp Pasta. We decided to split meals. I got the Fiesta Chicken he got the Cajun Pasta. I’m shocked that both meals came out as poorly as they did. The «Cajun» pasta had no cajun seasoning and very little sauce. The noodles were also very hard and the shrimp were rubbery and over cooked. The garlic bread was charred, and that’s coming from a person who really likes dark and crispy bread. It just tasted like charcoal. The chicken breast was bland and over cooked. It was so dry! I don’t even understand how you can mess up a chicken breast. I had asked the waitress if the spinach side was good and she said «Yes it’s very good. They sauté it in garlic and butter.» I decided to try it, when it came out I took one bite and spit it right back out. She came back to the table, I told her it was awful and I asked what else was in it and then she told me a white wine sauce. I am at a loss for why she would say they sauté in garlic and butter but leave the other part out. She could have offered to at least switch it out for me but she just walked away. The only good thing about this meal was the 6 wings we decided to split as an appetizer. We got the garlic parmesan with buffalo sauce on the side to dip them in. They were really good. The waitress didn’t fill our waters up as much as we needed but I think she was the only server taking care of a few tables.

Went on ¹⁄₉ for a company get together… we had the whole backroom. Read reviews online and was super excited. I ordered the salad with the feta or blue cheese crumbles and candied pecans. I added skirt steak for 14.99– SMALLEST SALAD EVER, it was delish but my 7yr old niece could have killed it with 2 bites. Ordered a veggie burger on the way out w veggies on the side, tasted like cardboard. My martini was on point tho. Never again, keep the side salad and chalky tasting veggie whatever it was. Several ppl at my table had the wings, they were lackluster and 2 ppl sent them back…

This is a ok spot. The crowd is a older crowd. They had a band to play on Friday and I think other nights. Drinks are decent, however margarita was awful had to send it back. The service was good. They have happy hour and daily specials.
Had chicken wings they were prepared as I like them, fried hard! Greasy but good flavor. They have a patio area in front. Dinning on onesie and bar area on the left.

I love their Caesar salads, I’ll usually add salmon or grilled chicken. The French onion soup is great too. The staff is helpful. Always a fun place to go with friends! Great patio!

This is our new go to spot for wings and drinks. We just discovered this place 2 weeks ago and have been back 3 times already. Their food is outstanding and the service was great. They also have great specials for happy hour and during football games on Sundays. Try the medium and lemon pepper wings. We just can’t get enough of those.

Some friends and I had dinner on the patio. We also had our two dogs with us. It’s a nice patio with comfy cushions that you would find at a resort pool/​cabana area on top of their patio chairs. We ordered the shrimp appetizer and it was good. The fried shrimps were a nice big size and the jalapeño/​cheese flavor was good at every bite. It makes it more enjoyable when you can tell it was just made fresh in the kitchen because it was nice and hot (temperature). We ordered four entrees and everything looked good. A burger w/​fries, blackened chicken salad, chicken pasta, and fiesta chicken was ordered. The fried were well seasoned, the salad and chicken were big portions, but the chicken penne pasta wast favorite. Well flavored, wet (I don’t like pasta with very light sauce/​dry pasta), and hearty. As I’m writing this review I’m really reminiscing about that pasta. It was that good. On top of all that, our server, Mitch, was great. He was very attentive, kind hearted, and made sure our food came out promptly and correctly. He also made sure our dogs had plenty of water throughout our meal. Did I mention our server also brought out the water bowl for our dogs. Loved how some of the workers came out to greet our dogs while we were on the patio. We will definitely be back because of our experience and kudos to them being dog friendly.

Worst Prime Rib I ever had anywhere. Over priced for what you get.

Ok look it isn’t horrible but it isn’t good either and that’s the problem. There is nothing that makes this place memorable or to bring me back.

The food and drinks here are outstanding. We had the Gorgonzola pecan steak salad and Chipotle burger with mac-​n-​cheese. The service was fast and the drinks very well made. I recommend the Bloody Mary! We’ll be back, give them a try.

I guess it’s a lot to ask of a place at 10 pm when you are seriously hungry. My parents and I had not eaten since lunch and wanted some good food after a ball game, so due to their decent lunch experiences here my mom wanted to go. By the time we arrived, all that was being served was their late night menu. I will give them credit for having more than just fried food late night, but after I took one bite of the grilled fish sandwich, I wished I had ordered fried food.
The onion rings tasted like «Burger King’s onion rings», said mystep father, an onion ring connoisseur, with a wince. The fish had 0 flavor on a hogie bun with 0 flavor and some wilted lettuce and tomato. I did enjoy the dill tartar sauce, but you can’t eat tartar sauce for dinner.
And the service, sub par. Not the friendliest or most attentive, but, again… After 10 pm… i shouldn’t expect much… right?
I did really enjoy the main entertainment, however — Step Cousins: 2 guys (one was a high school English teacher) playing acoustic to a wide variety of music. They even sang Beastie Boys… great rendition, actually.
Unfortunately, this drunk couple in their 60’s danced with (molested) each other to every song, ruining the true entertainment.
I do not think I would go back, even for their regular menu.

Chicken Cheese steak sandwich only needed two things. Chicken and cheese. Couldn’t handle it

Nice place. This is a pub so as long as that is what you are looking for then it’s great. We had this place as a recommendation and it’s okay. Nice lunch menu. Plus you get a 10% discount for checking in.

Pretty mediocre. Food was generic, flavorless, and not cooked well. Service was ok. I’ll probably skip this place next time I’m in town.

Went for lunch, had the salad and sandwich, fish and chips. It wasn’t bad but it was great either. Nothing really stood out. It had basically mish mash of everything on thee u fromSandwiches, pasta, salads, chicken, soup. Good we tried it but if it wasn’t for the groupon we probably wouldn’t have tried it.
I can see this as a late night alternative to the chain restaurants, casual date, hanging with the office buds or Friday/​Saturday night hang with your friends place. Very casual. Has a patio outside in front. It’s OK
WOULD RECOMMEND, I probably won’t be back as it’s not really my rule of restaurant

I go for the drinks… which they are on par with other bars in the area for Johns Creek. Guinness is always foamy here… yum. Martinis also have the right amount of alcohol levels. On average pricing for beer, wine, and hard liquor for the area. Our waitress was also accommodating, she checked every couple of mins. Atmosphere is calm for a Friday or Saturday night if your not looking for a huge crowd. plenty of sitting inside and outside. Recommendation for sitting outside (if its nice) to drink and stargaze. Pretty pleasant way to spend your night.

I hate working weekends. Every now and then I have to run to the office on a Saturday or Sunday to wrap up some stupid crap that crosses my path. This past weekend required me to be part of an issue that I legally can’t talk about, but nonetheless, wasted my day.
An employee of mine and I showed up early to take care of some things and we decided to grab a late lunch and watch the Texas/​Houston College World Series game. I hate baseball. As far as I’m concerned, it’s an outdated sport with no redeeming qualities. As far as Abbott’s, redeeming qualities are just about everywhere.
When I went to Abbott’s months ago, my first impression wasn’t impressive at all. Something about the bar area reads part dive, part Irish pub. The restaurant side is awkward. There is nothing exciting or inviting about it. I went to the restroom and saw signs all over the place in front of the urinal (a very serious pet peeve of mine, by the way).
Despite my initial impressions, there was a very good reason I took my friend there for the ballgame. The aforementioned signs really pissed me off because I tried their food, and gimmicky comedy nights and open mics are completely unnecessary here. The food kicks some serious ass.
My buddy and I ordered the homemade chips with gorgonzola which we inhaled almost immediately. After that, I realized that the signs on the bathroom walls should have been advertisements for cardiologists instead of shitty local bands looking for their big break on a random Monday night.
We then received our meals. I had mac n’ cheese with shrimp that was served in a bowl roughly the size of a garbage can lid. I could not believe how good it was. The shrimp and pasta were perfectly cooked and the sauce was one of the best I’ve ever had.
My friend and I are in the midst of meeting with every vendor our company uses. Approximately 70 vendors were scheduled every half hour for nearly two weeks with a slight break for lunch. One vendor whos meeting was just prior to lunch invited us out and we suggested Abbott’s. As proof of my mac ‘n cheese synopsis, my friend ordered it while I had a black and blue burger. Once again, my food was spectacular (and well sized), and my friend couldn’t get enough of his meal. At the end, it dawned on both of us that we still had 8 mind-​numbing meetings to complete.
I don’t remember which meeting was the one where I fell asleep, but when I woke up at around 7:00, after everyone else had gone home for the day, I knew that I’d be heading back to Abbott’s soon for more delicious food.
