Pediatric Dentistry of Johns Creek

I took my son here for his very first dental exam about 3 weeks ago, and was shocked at the level of customer service. My wife is a dental hygienist, and after seeing what goes on in a normal dental office, I was worried about my son’s first experience.
We were met at the reception desk by two busy ladies that were struggling to answer phones and talk to me at the same time. However, once they saw my «fight or flight» reaction, they stepped up 100%. I was given paperwork to fill out and we were lead to a child friendly room with pillows and a huge screen showing ‘Ratatouille’.
After waiting 15 minutes (tops) we were ushered to the room by a super sweet and patient (my son refused to move) woman. Once in there, the dentist showed his face within 5 minutes. They have TV screens above the patient chairs. Once the exam started, my son got scared and wasn’t complying with the «open your mouth» part. The dentist led us through some exercises to help him, and it was wonderful! Any person with children understands the frustration of being made to wait while with children. It’s pure hell. Or the dismissive gut reaction everyone takes with kids, as if their ideas or feelings don’t matter just yet. This office made my job easier instead of harder. The dentist even helped fill out his paperwork! What?! Lol.
No matter where I move, I’m sticking with these gladiators.

Such a great experience! Dr Hicks and his team are knowledgeable, fun and only suggest what your kids may truly need. Dr Hicks was such a huge part of the cleaning — he took his time with my kids and explained things so well. So often dentists will rush in at the end and take 30 seconds to check out kids teeth. Not Dr Hicks. Such a great experience– my kids want to go back sooner than their next cleaning!

Our first experience at Pediatric Dentistry of Johns Creek, a very positive one! I cannot stress that enough! The kids were so nervous at first, but left with great big smiles. I love the fact that they’re looking forward to going back and visit! Dr. Hicks is very thorough, reassuring, and takes the time to discuss all of the information with you. Dr. Hicks is a WONDERFUL pediatric dentist! When my baby girl grew her first few teeth I took her to Pediatric Dentistry of Johns Creek for her first «happy visit». The office is beautiful and very comfortable. They have a movie viewing room to entertain the kids while they wait for their appointment, which was a lot of fun for my daughter. Dr. Hicks came out to greet us and bring us to the back. He is so kind and patient and he made my daughter feel very comfortable. She was able to sit on my lap for the examination and Dr. Hicks showed me how to properly brush and care for her baby teeth. Dr. Hicks has a very calm and soothing way about him and I think that really helped my daughter relax in what was such an unusual experience for her. At the end of the visit she received a balloon and a little goodie bag with a finger puppet that she loves :) Dr. Hicks and his fantastic team made my daughter’s first dental experience such a nice one and I am so glad he will be her dentist for years and years to come!

Dr. Hicks and his team have exceeded our expectations. My husband and I are thrilled to have found his practice to care for our children ages 7 & 9. We were drawn in due to the high ratings and drive 50 minutes for each visit because we know this professional team puts children first. What has impressed us most is the time Dr. Hicks is willing to take with us and our children to explain procedures and options. He is amazingly patient, caring, and does not push or force kids beyond their comfort zones. My daughter recently let her anxiety get the best of her during a Friday procedure and Dr. Hicks was unable to continue. He didn’t want her to be uncomfortable over the weekend so he came in on a Saturday morning to finish the job. How many dentist would do that? Both my children adore Dr. Hicks and his staff and so do we!

Dr. Hicks is fantastic! I thought it was wonderful the way he talks to the children and parents respectively to get a sense for what the needs or concerns are. He takes his time with his patients regardless of their age.
My children were apprehensive about going to the dentist based on an experience with a large chain (previously reviewed) that rhymes with «kruel trials» but Dr. Hicks and his excellent staff had them all smiling armed with the tools to do the job at home (toothbrushes, floss, prizes, balloon on a string… that’s for fun) as well as a token water, the best thing for teeth, on their way out.
The movie theatre was a nice surprise. Everyone in the office was just wonderful, I can not thank them all enough for such a great visit. Imagine, my children are looking forward to going back!

Dr. Hicks and Staff are OUTSTANDING. My teenager had several dental issues as well as orthodontic needs. Dr. Hicks took care of his dental needs and followed the orthodontic progress. We have been patients for 3 years and have had nothing but wonderful experience at every visit. He is highly trained and Board Certified in Pediatric Dentistry. He has an excellent staff and support team. I recommend this practice all the time to my family and friend. LOVE LOVE LOVE this practice and Dr. Hicks.

Wonderful experience! Fantastic for both kids. Great scheduling process, wonderful staff, and Dr. Hicks was personable and great with the kids. Everything was explained in detail, could not have gone better. Highly recommend!

My 6 and 14 year old children was seen here for the first time and our experience was excellent. Very clean and relaxing environment. The entire staff was very professional. Dr. Hicks is very patient with his clients as well as his assistants. My 6 year old has had alot of bad experiences at other places so she is pretty nervous going in even for a simple cleaning but because of the atmosphere here I was able to leave her by herself to get a cavity filled. She came out smiling so I was extremely happy with our experience here. Will refer this office to others.

I am so glad to have found Dr Hicks! Our experience was wonderful from beginning to end. His office is beautiful and welcoming. My daughter was thrilled to find her name written on the welcome board when we walked in. I was especially impressed by Dr Hicks and his commitment to providing exceptional patient care. He took the time to talk with me about his philosophy about caring not only for my children’s teeth but also reassured me about my own dental care. My daughter received personal attention from Dr Hicks; not just the perfunctory ‘lookover’ she would normally get at a larger practice. I would recommend Dr Hicks to anyone with children. I only wish he saw adults!

My daughter, age 2 was diagnosed and seen by several dentists for milk caries in her front teeth. I was devastated to find out that they all proposed sedating her to extract, crown or fill these teeth! I could not believe that as a new mom I had made such a horrible mistake by putting her to sleep with milk. I just was not comfortable with the idea of having her sedated. She was always upset at every dentist we went to see, and I refused to believe there was no other options. By the grace of God, I found
Dr. Hicks. His bedside manner was very comforting to me but more importantly to my daughter. He was the only dentist out of 3 that was able to get an X ray using a handheld device that looks like a toy gun, the X rays were obtained in minutes. He decided to try an alternative toothpaste to rebuild calcium and phosphorus on my daughter’s teeth and I am happy to say that within a few months I noticed a considerable difference. The brown discoloration in her front teeth was fading. She did not have to be sedated and I can now breathe a sigh of relief that he cared more about my daughter than the dollar sign! Thank you Dr. Hicks. I will continue to sing your praises and refer you! Nice to find someone passionate about his God given gift and craft!

Dr. Hicks and his team are wonderful! The office is immaculate and welcoming. They make my children feel comfortable. They provide entertainment for the children (theatre room for kids). They also offer coffee and bottle water. Dr Hicks is very knowledgeable and personable with parents and children. He’s thorough and tries very hard not to overwhelm us with unnecessary expenses. We really appreciate that. It’s very close to home. We will be with him for a long time.

Wow! My kids loved this place, and yes, it’s the dentist. We recently moved to Atlanta and I was in search of a new dentist for my 3 children ages 7 (twins) and 5. Dr. Hicks and his staff were fabulous. It is so great to see a doctor go into pediatrics because they love children. The office is set up just for kids… a movie room in the waiting room and TV screens above the examination chairs. Dr. Hicks made my kids feel calm and comfortable. My one daughter even had a baby tooth pulled and there was no crying! Dr. HIcks took his time to explain to the kids everything he was doing, allowed me to sit right next to them and ask questions and reviewed their x-​rays and charts with me. If you live anywhere in the Atlanta area, it is definitely worth the drive to see Dr. Hicks. I had to laugh when we were leaving, my 5 year old asked, «Can we always come here when we go to the dentist?» Thanks for a great check-​up Dr. Hicks.

Dr Hicks and the staff provide an safe and comforting environment for children and their parents. Working in the dental industry myself, I believe that the environment is one of the most important things about a dental office. This office is brand new, they have a theater for the kids and nice cool calming décor. They are very friendly and knowledgable. You can expect premium service and a great customer care. If you live anywhere near Johns Creek then do yourself (and kids) a favor and see Dr Hicks for all your dentistry needs.

Dr. Hicks and his staff are very friendly! My daughter loves him and he made the overall experience of seeing a dentist (which can be scary for a 5 year old) very fun and enjoyable. He took the time to thoroughly explain everything to my daughter and I got to sit in and watch everything, which made her feel a lot more comfortable. He also took the time to make sure any questions were answered. Not to mention the office itself is very clean and nicely decorated with TV screens above the dental chairs. Highly recommend!

My first impression of the office was very pleasant. It’s a brand new office with great décor. There is a theatre for the children with a massive flat screen to watch movies. Lexi had a great time playing with the pillows and stuffed animals. The office staff was very helpful in wrangling my youngest and keeping him safe and out of trouble while I filled out my paperwork. Dr. Hicks came out and introduced himself and he let my daughter take the toy she was playing with back to the exam chair with her. It was very comfortable and if I planned on living in this area longer I would definitely keep taking my babies to him. He was good at explaining everything about their dental health and explaining the results of their exams. He gave me an office tour. The best thing was Dr. Hicks and his staff were patient with my infant and toddler and made them feel comfortable. My daughter even said «thank you» to him as we left. (But he did gave her a toy and balloons too LOL). I would highly recommend this office for your children’s dental needs.
