Description

Specialties

Our chocolates are handcrafted in small batches, often using local, natural and organic ingredients. We offer consistent beauty and flavor, focusing on natural, premium ingredients to create flavor that is true and in season. At Arrowhead Chocolates, we are strongly committed to using chocolate that is Fair Trade certified and Rainforest Alliance certified. We use the highest quality, sustainably grown chocolate available to us.

We also serve Stumptown coffee, and our baristas are highly trained by Stumptown to create the most delicious coffee drinks you can imagine. Combine this with our great chocolate, and you have the makings of one of the finest mochas you’ll ever enjoy. We also serve fine teas from Foxfire Teas and Montana Tea Trading.

You always have the option of choosing organic milk or hazelnut, almond, or soy milk for your hot chocolate or any other drink we make.

Come relax and enjoy the view of the mountains! We look forward to your visit.

History

Established in 2010.

Arrowhead Chocolates opened in Joseph, Oregon, in the winter of 2010, and it’s been going strong from the first day. Our local residents have been a vital source of support and encouragement and our visitors to the very special Wallowa Valley area give us the boost and inspiration we need to be successful. We continue to develop new products and expand our availability through online sales, always with the same emphasis on top quality products and a positive experience for our customers, our employees and ourselves.

We are a family business. Erica was the inspiration to start the business, and she is the one who brought Stumptown coffee and Foxfire Teas to us, having lived in Portland for ten years. Her father, Bruce, is the chocolatier and has a passion for creating the purest flavors using «the real thing» in everything he makes. Her mother, Wendy, serves customers and takes care of the «numbers» and the many other details in the background that are necessary in running a business.

Meet the Business Owner

Erica R.

Business Owner

Erica was a graphic designer working for a design firm in Portland when she decided that she wanted to move to the beautiful Wallowa Valley in Northeastern Oregon. She loves the outdoors, gardening, hiking, people, and great coffee and food. Starting this business was a natural fit for her!

With her artistic talent, Erica has created the shop as a space of fresh beauty that shifts and changes like the mountains above us with every season. She brings artists’ works to our shop – we showcase the lovely work of Brent Wydrinski, who creates unique glass vases and pitchers, Jerry Crandall, a woodworker who crafts gorgeous wooden boxes from vintage Wallowa Valley fence woods for our chocolates, Michelle Chapin, who makes our popular cups and plates imprinted with Wallowa Valley grasses and flowers — and other local and regional photographers, potters and artists.
