June Lake Pines

Our family loves visiting June Lake and June Lake Pines is perfect! Super close to the mountain, friendly staff and recently remodeled. The owners are awesome! They helped us find a reliable babysitter so that my husband and I could go out for the evening. Can’t wait to go back!

It seems that guest service can be a dying art. This makes me sad (it takes a lot, trust me). Whenever I need to have my faith restored, I will take a break at June Lake Pines. Amanda, Olga etc are absolutely wonderful. The cabin was extremely clean and comfortable. Amanda took care of me as if I were family (wanna adopt me?) and I have some amazing memories of a week to myself skiing. The only thing that will trump those memories is when I return in a month (fingers crossed). THANK YOU!!! I am fortunate I found you!

June Lake Pines is the best place to stay in the Eastern Sierra’s. The owners, Dave and Amanda, are super accommodating and treat you like family. The cabins are fantastic! They have done such an amazing job renovating them. I have stayed there about a dozen times and always look forward to my next trip back.

June Lake Pines is amazing! It is our families favorite place to be, we have been up 3 times in the past year and each time it gets better and better. We can’t wait till our next visit! We’ve stayed in 2 different cabins but have had the chance to see them all and the new owners have done an amazing job updating them but maintaining the June Lake charm. The owners are very accommodating, informative and friendly. We cannot say enough amazing things about June Lake Pines, in fact if we could move in there, we could!

My favorite getaway! June Lake is a beautiful place to visit and June Lake Pines is the best place to stay. Amanda and Dave are so welcoming. They’ve done an awesome job remodeling and decorating their cozy cabins. The kitchen has everything we needed to make our own meals. I have stayed there twice and already have plans to go back!

My family and I stayed in cabin 5 for a week over New Year’s Eve. We absolutely loved our cozy cabin! Very clean and had everything we needed to enjoy our family vacation. You can’t beat the location. Walking distance to restaurants, grocery store, brewery, the lake and a 5 min drive to June Mountain to ski. Already booked cabin 7 for the summer time! I LOVE JUNE LAKE PINES! The owners are young and hip and have transformed this older property into something fresh. I have stayed at the property 3 times now. I also stayed before it was renovated and although the rooms now are amazing, the property was so quaint and the owners were so nice that I loved it even before it was renovated. Amanda and Dave have done wonders with the place. i like cabin 10 although I think the others are really nice as well. I also purchased some of Amanda’s AMAZING salve, its a MUST GET and her sister makes essential oils. All the soaps in the rooms are 100% organic which is awesome, you don’t find that everywhere when you travel. I am a big fan of all natural. The kitchens are so well stocked. I cook when in June and they literally have every cooking utensil, plate, and pot you need. This is the only place to stay in June.

We stayed at June Lake Pines on President’s Day Weekend. It’s the perfect place to stay in June Lake, right in town, walking distance to anything you need. The owners are friendly and extremely accommodating. We asked where we could go sledding nearby and they guided us to the perfect spot and even let us borrow a couple sleds.
Our cabin was cozy, but there was plenty of room for the four of us. We used the kitchen quite a bit and everything we needed was supplied.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at June Lake Pines and we will definitely return.

To be fair I have stayed there numerous times and found it decent enough for a couple of guys fishing. Nothing too fancy but that was OK with us. We both had our own bed and a tv in the living room. In fact I went every year for the trout opener and stayed in cabin 5. Well this year I called to get my cabin like I have had over the past 7 – 8 years and the wife answered and said oh we have rented that cabin already. I was quite dissapointed and mentioned how I had had that room for years. Her reply was that was with the old owners, they are new owners and I should look on the website as she thinks they have another cabin available. Now I understand that she could not get me cabin 5, but if this was my business and I could tell I just made a long time customer unhappy I would take the time to go through the website with the customer and show them thier options. There was not any sort of remorse or apology from her. Not a good way to run a business in my mind. But as they say for every door that shuts a new one opens and I ended up getting a condo over looking June Lake for a little bit more and it is much bigger and nicer. And I should be happy with that but the taste in my mouth for the way she treated me still taste bitter

A great trip with the family.
When we arrived the cabin (#11) was already unlocked, warm and ready to receive the kids after being cooped up in the car for 6 hours.
The cabin was just the right size for me and my 3 kids. If you are looking for a comfortable family place to stay that is directly next to the mountain, this is the location. Each morning we could wake up to a nice cup of hot coco and be in the parking lot of June MTN and on the lift within minutes. I enjoyed being back in the warm cabin with feet up in no time when we finished each day.
The owners are delightful and always asking if here is anything you might need. I always overpack so I was just fine since I brought my rice cooker, crockpot and expresso machine. But the cabins have everything a normal family would need.
We will definetely be back up this season and maybe even the summer if they’ll have us back

OK, so David commented on the review I left on 8÷24÷2015 and it said:
«I am sincerely sorry about the experience you had with us this summer. My wife and I are new owners and we admittedly have not always handled late night walk-​ins well. We try to keep consistent hours of 8am-​10pm (with two small children its difficult to do much more), and for check-​ins after that time we have a late night bell (which perhaps could be better labelled if you did not see it) and sleep with the phone near our bed. Not sure why we didn’t hear your calls, but am very sorry for the inconvenience it caused you, it is certainly not how we like to do business. I hope it does not ruin your impression of June Lake as it is truly a wonderful place with many great hotels and camping options should you return. Also, apologies for the late response we are just starting to get a handle on our ‘online presence’.»
While a response is better than nothing, I don’t think the owner is fully sincere about the seemingly earnest apology.
Here is why:
First of all, I want David to know that I have a 5 years old daughter myself and I have a fairly busy work schedule.
So I can surely sympathize with you how busy you and Amanda can be as parents trying to run a hospitality business.
So when I read the part where you said «we try to keep consistent hours of 8am-​10pm (with two small children its difficult to do much more)», I actually thought for a second maybe I wrongfully accused your complete and utter lack of care for your customer… I thought maybe my first review was a bit harsh.
But I kept on reading… and things just doesn’t add up here.
If you put a ²⁴⁄₇ sign on your business, you should anticipate the needs of your customers, especially when you just promised to a customer verbally on the phone that a room was prepared for them and that the customer promised to be there in 10 minutes.
I think if you truly cared for about your customer and their experience at June Lake, you’d at least check in 10 mins or so to see if the customer has contacted you.
Fair enough, right?
Ok, maybe that is too high of an expectation.
Then what about my calls?
To that, you replied «Not sure why we didn’t hear your calls, but am very sorry for the inconvenience it caused you, it is certainly not how we like to do business…»
Ok, no problem! You may have been really tired 10 mins after you promised a room for us that you fell asleep.
I think that is reasonable and if you tell me that is what happened, I’d gladly delete this review.
Here is the kicker though…
I did leave a text message AND a voicemail on your the same exact cell phone where you told me a room will be prepared for my family.
— Text at 11:04pm
— Voicemail at 11:10pm.
Ok, I can see there is no way for you to see the text or hear my voicemail while you are asleep.
But what about the next morning, or the morning after that?
The text just disappeared and voicemail vanished?
And if you did see «call for help» text and voicemail, why did you choose not to text back or give a courtesy call back then?
This doesn’t add up.
That is why I think your reply is just a smoke screen to let other Unilocaler think that it was a honest mistake.
But I don’t think so.
I hope I am wrong about it.

We had the most amazing time this summer at the June Lake Pines. I’m looking forward to our annual summer trip and we will stay at the pines again. We are also hoping we are able to come back this winter.
The owners and our cabin were amazing. I have 2 kids and everything about it was perfect. Thank you Amanda and Dave for a great time…
Wish I was there now…

I found this nice family run motel at the last min. What wonderful owners Dave and Amanda are. They went above and beyond to accommodate me at the last minute. The cabins/​rooms are clean and comfortable. It’s located in center of town walking distance to restaurants and bars.

Booked this place last minute because we were having issues with another hotel in Oakhurst.
Loved the place! Love the owners Amanda and David– they were so accommodating that they even lent us a pack and play for our son!
Now, about the cabin– wow! What a wonderful quaint little cabin… complete with all your kitchenware and refrigerator! We just absolutely loved the place! We will definitely be back! Thank you Amanda and David!!!

I am going to apply my 3^rd grade rounding skills and round up to a 5 star. The staff here make all the difference. We were warmly greeted. The one concern that we did have was immediately addressed without question.
My breakdown on cabin 14 is a follows:
One queen bed in a separate room and two doubles in the other.
The bathroom is located between the two rooms. Do you remember that scene in Elf when Will Ferrell was taking a shower in the elf sized tub and shower. I will have to say that is what I felt like. I wish that the shower head was 18 inches higher. It felt like the water was pointed at my legs.
The kitchen is well equiped and I was plesantly suprised by the Kirkland professional series pots and pants. (Costco supplies are a recurring theme in the cabin).
There was one issue where the light switch was arcing when we turned it on so we left it alone. Oh, and parking is super limited. Even if you can park in the «lot» it is really cramped. This might matter in the winter when you do not want to have to walk to the car in the cold and snow. In the summer it was not a big deal.
The bottom line is that for the price I do not think that there is a better place to stay in the area. I am coming back here again next year. This time I am bring the bicycle and plan on putting in some miles.
What did I learn today? At the crack of dawn be prepared for chipmunks to be dropping pine cones on top of the metal roof. It makes a lot of racket!

We sadly just left June Lake, one of our favorite spots to go and relax in nature and go get our fishing itch met.
June Lake Pines has been a steady place for our family and two dogs :) to get some R&R. We’ve been here a few times and here is my assessment:
Pros:
1. Owners are stellar, professional, conscientious, considerate people – they take care of you and your group’s needs. Never had to ask for fresh linens or toilet paper. They were just automatically placed in our rooms or given to us before we left to go on our fishing outings. Never once got that uneasy feeling like they would steal while we were away.
Amanda also made sure to call me the day of our arrival to let me know my keys were available and door was opened because we were arriving later than expected and they we’re not going to be available to give us our key by the time we arrived.
2. Reasonably priced. Considering we booked literally the day before we got there. Price wasn’t hiked up because it was their last accommodation so still reasonably priced.
3. Rustic and cozy atmosphere.
4. Free wifi, full sized fridge, microwave, two full kitchen sinks, full stove.
5. Fish cleaning station and laundry facilities on site.
6. Great location – literally across street from the June Lake general store, candy/​ice cream store, short walking distance to all the restaurants.
7. They provided a roll-​away bed for us. It was already in one of the rooms when we got there.
8. Room #8 was great for cool breeze ventilation during the evening and night!
Cons:
1. I read some of the reviews and noticed that people mentioned upgrades to the rooms. Maybe it was our room (#8) but it didn’t seem upgraded… The bathroom floor was buckling and rising near the door (water damage perhaps? I could hear the water pipe dripping in the wall next to the sink) so it made it difficult to shut the door because it kept getting caught on the rising floor.
2. The kitchen was pretty small even though it had everything to make a meal. There was almost no counter space to cut our food while prepping. Though it had a few dishes, a few cups, cookware, and knives, I highly recommend you bring additional kitchenware items of your own (cups, knives, pots, fry pans, eating utensils, etc).
Especially a big pot if you plan to make chili or soup because the kitchen didn’t have one. Thankfully we brought ours from past experience.
3. The fridge hummed so loudly my husband had a hard time falling asleep. And he never has a hard time falling asleep anywhere.
4. Parking almost always threatened to be an issue. Very few spots. First come first served. If you came in late you had to park on the street and walk it up to your room.
5. The ceiling and walls were thin.
We could definitely hear the person walking above us and the people next door to us sounded like they were in our living room. It’s ok I guess because our loud children probably woke them early in the am. It all evened out, lol ;)
FYI:
1. They charge a fee of $ 25/​person for extra people if your party exceeds the expected number of people per cabin. I think that’s unfortunate because having extra people made it more inconvenient for the space we had available to us: we got less space but had to pay more for our cabin. I get it because of extra linen laundry costs, toilet paper costs, electricity costs, etc.
2. Pet fee is reasonable too. $ 15 per pet, I believe. Just be a conscientious guest and bring a kennel for your dogs so they don’t urinate all over the rooms from anxiety if you leave them in the room while you are away. And bring some linens for your dogs to cover the beds and couches if they will be sitting or sleeping on them with you. It’s a common courtesy for everyone involved – owners and future guests :)
3. Though it was cozy, our 2 bedroom was a bit too cozy for 6: 4 adults and 2 small kids. The roll away was a full sized bed that took up half the living room. So plan early if you want sufficient room for your party. And the roll away bed wasn’t the most comfortable thing to sleep on. If you need serious support for your back do not sleep on a roll away bed!
All in all we had a memorable stay here and we will be back sometime in September or October June Lake Pines!

The five stars are for Amanda and David Carmichael, the new owners. This young couple has fresh ideas and are breathing new life into the Pines, plus they are super accommodating and immediately deal with any concerns during your stay. They care. That’s definitely a five-​star quality!

June Lake has a new star in the «June Lake Pines!»

The new owners have done a great job bringing this little vintage gem up to date! By fortuitous chance we were able to stay a night in the cottages and it was lovely. The owners are delightful and hospitable (and hip!), the brand new beds and brand new crisp white linens were super cozy, wifi in the cabin, and situated directly across the street from the June Lake Brewing Company — hello happy hour. I have no doubt the continuing upgrades will make this property even better. If the weather had been warmer we could have enjoyed the stylish adirondack chairs and BBQ terrace. The cottages would be a really fun place to stay during sunny summer months.

The June Lake Pines property looks wonderful. The new owners have done an amazing job updating the cottages and making this truly an awesome vacation experience.

I absolutely love this place. I’ll be going back for my 3^rd stay this weekend. It really beats all the high priced places and it’s so small and cozy. The manager makes sure you have everything you need.
This year my entire family decided to join us so luckily they have a 3 bedroom and 2 bedroom that are joined by a door. So convenient. And they let my dog Charlie come too!
