Their Wailuku location closed years ago, but they’re still in operation out of Cupie’s in Kahului. We utilized them for a recent luncheon, and what a great choice it was! While Bernard makes the world’s best tasting roast pork, we went with more of a Hawaiian-style menu for this occasion. FOOD: Mac Salad — Traditional elbows with sliced carrots. Mainstream good. Beef Broccoli — Very tasty and done in a savory brown sauce. The broccoli was fresh and cooked perfect. This dish went out real quick! Chicken Long Rice — No Hawaiian-themed meal is complete without this! The two main seasonings of salt & ginger were just right. The long rice had excellent consistency, and the chicken chunks were tender. Chow Fun — Another non-Hawaiian selection but truly local. Traditional flavor and made with wide, white noodles, which are my favorite. Splash on shoyu and we’re good to go! Kalua Pork — The staple of Hawaiian cuisine. It had excellent savory and smoky flavors despite being cooked in a traditional oven rather than an imu. Have leftovers? Cook it with cabbage! Stir Fry — We opted for shrimp, which were tender and succulent. Loaded with veggies like green beans, red bells, onions, and mushrooms in a savory sauce. SERVICE: Set up was quick, clean, and professional. OVERALL: Excellent food, really good pricing per head. I’d recommend double re-confirming of everything just to be safe. And you HAVETO try his roast pork!
