Established in 2008.

KMO is the culmination of 27 years in the optical business, from lab to dispensing. I wanted to create a lab/​dispensary/​store like no other. Where getting your glasses is a fun experience.

Business Owner

Born in Allentown Pennsylvania, grew up on a dairy farm in upstate New York. Married in 1984 and began my optical career (lots of other stuff in between). Moved to Kailua-​Kona Hawaii 1995. After working at several different Optical businesses here, established Kevin McHugh Optical. Opening December 1st 2008.

I got some prescription lenses put in a pair of sunglasses at Kevin’s place. He was super nice and helpful. The next time I need prescription glasses I will go back.
I wish his assistant had talked me into spending the extra money on progressive lenses for my sun glasses when she waited on me, I bet Kevin would have done so and I would be even happier.

Kevin is incredibly friendly and can help out in a pinch. I left my glasses on the dash of my car and returned to find the AR coating melted. In under an hour I had new lenses that are even better than the old ones — all at a reasonable price. Besides he’s got great recommendations for things to do on the island.
