Why did I wait 26 years to finally deal with something I’ve suffered from since I was 13? I’ve tried everything, unfortunately, I’m not a doctor so it was like throwing darts at a dartboard. Benzoyl’s, washing sheets almost daily, etc, etc. Dr. Luria took one look at me and listened to my complaints and everything and knew exactly what to do. I will never try to self-​diagnose again. Her treatment has been the most effective thing in the world, I want to cry. My whole life has changed, thank you.

I was Dr Kenner’s patient for 20 years, even before she owned Kenner Dermatology. The last few appointments over the past year, have been horrible experiences. The last appointment I was prescribed a medication that should be used with caution for people with my medical condition. I was not advised of the potential problems of me using this medication. Had I been cautioned, I would have refused it.
I wrote Dr Kenner a letter informing her of my complaints and the ultimate decision to find a new dermatologist after 20 years with her. She did not respond to my concerns about poor patient care. She did not respond to my concern for my health after being prescribed a medication without warning about problems which could result. There was no acknowledgment of any kind to my letter.
As a long time patient who until recently has been satisfied with patient care at Kenner Dermatology, I am very disappointed in the care given there and the lack of concern for patient well being. With the lack of integrity and professionalism shown, I would not recommend Kenner Dermatology.

Several horrible experiences while going here for a few years in high school for acne treatment. For example…
— Prescribing me a large anti-​bacterial pill. I was taking it before bed, and one night it must have stayed in my esophagus a little too long because I didn’t stay upright after taking the pill. I ended up with ulcers in my esophagus — I was in the ER twice, lost over 10 pounds, and was miserable and in so much pain for weeks. This, of course, is not their fault at all — BUT, I do think they should have done a better job of making it clear to me that I shouldn’t be taking this twice-​daily medication before bed. They should also think twice about giving large pills that have these eroding properties to a teenage girl. I asked around and it had happened to another one of my friends who went to Dr Kenner. When I came back for my appointment, I told them of my painful problems and they said «oh yes, that happens, sorry» like it was no big deal.
— Prescribing me an anti-​fungal pill to treat a specific type of acne before I headed off to COLLEGE. Called for a refill and they told me AFTERWARDS that the pill is pretty tough on the liver and they’re going to hold off… and that drinking while taking the pill is dangerous.
— Dr Luria making me cry by continuously telling me how horrible my back acne was and firmly recommending Accutane, a serious medication that requires blood drawn monthly and being put on birth control, along with many severe potential negative side effects. I refused, and by continuing with the normal treatment my bacne went away — but not before she reiterated again and again how horrible my skin looked and how Accutane was my only option at this point.
— Waiting for my appointment for over 45 minutes (this has happened several times). This on its own is forgivable, but just another reason why I’d recommend a different dermatologist.

The doctors really don’t care about individual patients and basically try to sell you their products. I am very disappointed, and extremely frustrated.

I will never go back to Dr. Kenner. I found a wonderful dermatologist that offers me all the options for treatment, unlike Dr. Kenner
I had some AK’s that needed to be treated. I had some burned off from a previous dermatologist and they left white spots once they healed. I switched to dr. kenner after that experience and told her I specifically did not want any more white spots. she reassured me she would not do this. She would burn them slowly and it might take a few times but this way it would not leave any white spots. I asked her if there was another option for treating these because the burning of them is not pleasant. she said no, this is the only option. So I trusted her and let her burn them. Needless to say, once they were all done healing, I was left with a chest full of white spots. I returned for my post op check and told her I wasn’t happy with the result. She told me she could do a chemical peel on my chest to help blend the white spots. I thought to myself, there is no way she is going to touch me again. I did not trust her at this point.
I switched dermatologists once again and they told me I could treat the AK’s with a cream. this cream would not leave any white spots. Dr. Kenner never mentioned this option. I have done the cream twice in the last 3 years and it is a horrible experience but once you heal, there are no white spots and it takes care of the AK’s beautifully.
I feel like Dr. Kenner is all about the money. Every time I went to her, she wanted me to buy some expensive cream, instead of just writing me a prescription for the problem. She obviously made a lot more money on me by burning my 20 AK’s off my chest as opposed to just writing me a scrip.
I have to now forever use a make-​up foundation on my chest to conceal my ugly white spots that dr. Kenner left me. Thank You dr. Kenner!
Maybe this office has other wonderful doctors and PA’s you might have better luck with, but DO NOT see Dr. Kenner, she really seems to be more interested in your pocket book than what’s really best for you and what you want!
Please Dr. Kenner, listen to your patients more!

I can’t remember specifically which doctor or nurses helped me. The Nurse was really cold and impersonal. She didn’t speak to me most of the time she was in the room. However the doctor was so efficient she described to me step by step what she was doing. She was so nice and didn’t seem judgmental at all. I really appreciate how patient she was. I didn’t appreciate the receptionist not telling me they didn’t accept quest when I told her I had 2 insurances… eh u win some u lose some. The doctors the most important part and she was the illest.

I’ve taken my daughter to Kenner Dermatology and seen Dr. Luria about 3 years ago and had a really good experience. The treatment my daughter needed was successful. Recently my daughter had other skin problems that needed to be looked at so I «assumed» going back would be a good idea. We saw a Physicians Assistant and felt very rushed in and out. Some of the staff was rude. The treatment that was prescribed was given to me verbally and said it would be written down, but when I walked out I was given nothing. I told the staff in the front that I should be given written instructions and they asked me what the doctor had said. When I told them, one girl said not to put a certain topical foam on one area that the doctor had prescribed. She went over the treatment again but still I left with nothing in writing.
On our follow up appointment, I informed them that the topical ointment was burning my daughters face. The nurse said that was «normal» and my daughters skin will get use to it but continue using it daily. When the doctor walked in and I repeated the problem, he said to cut back on usage to 3 times a week.
I’ver heard great reviews about Dr. Kenner, but my recent personal experience in her office has not been good. Unfortunately I have started going there for my daughters treatment. I’m hoping to find a different dermatologist that will be able to take over her needs. I think her staff needs some customer service training and there needs to be consistency between physicians and staff.

This was probably the worst experience I have ever had with a dermatologist.
I have not had a skin check up in a couple years since my dermatologist retired, so I made an appointment with Dr. Kenner. I specifically asked for a female, Dr. Kenner.
The appointment was at 2:45; I got there at 2:45. I waited for an hour. While I waited, I saw the three secretaries/​receptionists bicker and yell at each other. It was very unprofessional. Receptionist 1 was saying that Receptionist 3 was «getting on her ass» and asked Receptionist 2 to fix it. Then Receptionist 3 came in, saying she heard everything, and bickered with Receptionist 1. It was very awkward.
Anyway, I did not get taken into a room until 3:45. The person who took me in was very cold and rude. I told her I made an appointment with Dr. Kenner; she said she was not available and said if I wanted a check up that day it would have to be with a male. I said fine, whatever. She took me to another room, dumped a paper top and bottom on the chair, and told me he would be in in a bit. She was not very nice.
Then, the doctor I saw barely even looked at my skin. He looked at me for about 1 minute before asking if I wanted any other treatment. I was very concerned since I had not gotten a check up in a while and I am in the sun a lot. Apparently, he was not. I don’t think he did a very good job, at least compared to the other dermatologists I have had (I miss my dermatologist that retired!).
Then I was ushered out and had to pay my co-​pay.
I have never written a review before, but I was so upset with this experience that I decided to write one.
I think if you see Dr. Kenner, your experience may be better. But based on this experience, I am never going back.

today, july 15,2014 i enjoyed my best ever visit to a medical professional.
My appoinment at the kenner dermatology center was for 11 am.; I was there
at 10:57 and in the examination room at 11:01.
the nurse took my essentials and the doctor entered at 11:07!!.
He introduced himself with an eyecontact handshake (rare) explained what he
was doing every step and was quick, thourough and effective.
What a pleasant exprerience compared with the usual waiting time of up to an hour
in the waiting room, another up to an hour in the ex. room and indiffrent and hurried
inpersonal doctors.

I have been a patient of Kenner Dermatology for a few years.
I am very happy to say I met and was treated by a new member of the team there.
His name is Dr. DOUG WILLIAMS.
He’s knowledgable, has a gentle touch, and advised me prior to my appointment what steps to take to make the «filler appointment» comfortable for me.
I am so pleased with the results. It’s exciting. I only wish I had met DR. WILLIAMS sooner. I hope he stays here on the windward side.

I have been to many different offices in Honolulu and elsewhere but have had the best and most consistent experience with NP Helen… by far! Her technique with dermal fillers gives a natural looking result that doesn’t look fake or gawdy. She makes me feel comfortable and the injections hurt less.

I was staying in Lanikai for an extended period of time this past January and went in to see the N.P. Helen Petros for a general skin exam as well as some corrective fillers for an area around my mouth. Helen is amazing! I am very sensitive to having this type of treatment done and use to see her when she was at a practice in Northern California. I was very excited to find out that she was now @ Kenner Dermatology and I was able to book an appointment during my stay in Hawaii. The result was amazing (as always) and she is so gentle with the injections, that the discomfort is minimal. I spoke to a few other people I know in the area and I understand that Helen has developed a great reputation for her cosmetic treatments. Being a guy I am especially sensitive about the result looking natural. She also discovered a few suspicious precancerous growths that my at home dermatologist had missed. I would highly recommend her services!

I have been coming here since moving to the island 2 years ago for all the wonderful things that come with being fair-​skinned and living in the sub-​tropics. While most of the staff is excellent, try to schedule appointments with Dr. Kenner herself as she is willing to go the extra mile in terms of listening, recommending, and treating. I have been extremely pleased when treated by her and always request her when needing an appointment. If seeing the other physicians — I would give them 3 stars and if seeing the P.A. (or nurse-​prac, I’m not sure), 4 stars.

What can I say? Dr. Kenner you are the best! You always take care of my needs (my filler and my Botox). Your service are excellent. Your staffs are well trained and always give me the best customer service. She is my own «Extreme Makeover» Dr. She had given me a beautiful chin and skinny jew line that I have dream of in my whole entire life!
If you are looking to do your filler and Botox, you must visit Dr. Kenner! Her price is resonable and her service is excellent.

I saw the Nurse Practitioner, Helen. Very thorough, very knowledgeable and explains well. I recommend her highly. All of the office staff seem to be efficient, friendly and professional. The office is spotlessly clean which always feels reassuring. Good place.

I went to Kenner Dermatology after being referred by a good friend who comes here for dermatology. She told my husband they were starting laser hair treatments and she knew that I had mentioned that I wanted to try it. My husband went and bought me a giftcard for our anniversary, so I immediately scheduled my first appointment for my bikini line after he surprised me with it. During my first appointment I was very comfortable and the lady who does the laser treatments is such a sweetheart, but you could tell she was still in an experimental phase of learning how to use the machine. For me, the treatment didn’t hurt at all and it only took about 20 minutes from start to finish and she had told me what to expect shortly after I left the office for side effects (she said the redness and bumps would last 3 – 5 days). When I checked out, the price per treatment was more expensive than they had originally quoted my husband so I went ahead and put more money on my giftcard and scheduled my next two appointments a little over 4 weeks out. They recommend 4 – 6 weeks in between treatments. I had absolutely zero side effects to the treatment, not even redness or soreness. I waited and waited to see hairs fall out (which she told me would happen) but never saw any results. I was already disappointed with treatment #1 because during my consultation she told me I was the ideal candidate for laser treatment. I have light skin and black hair.
Treatment #2 came along and I told her that nothing happened so she decided to use a different method. She swore that this one would have better results. So once again after paying $ 125 for 20 minutes of laser treatment, I went home with zero side effects or redness and not much hair ever fell out. This happened again for treatment #3 and she told me that she would not charge me for this time since she was trying different methods. She entered all the changes in my file and said that this method she performed this time was probably going to blister since it was the highest heat she had used on me. I went home and I had maybe 4 tiny white bumps but they went away the next day. Still not much changed, barely any results, disappointed again for the amount of money I was blowing. During this time, a girlfriend of mine was telling me how successful her treatments were going at a location in Honolulu and she was only paying $ 40 per treatment.
I attended my 4^th treatment the week before my husband and I were moving from Hawaii and I went in with minimal results. I definitely figured by 2 or 3 treatments I would see a difference in hair growth or thinness but not really. Treatment 4 passed and I figured I would just have to wait to see the results in a month or two after I moved to see what kind of progress I made. I’m sitting here now in California looking at my results and I see no change whatsoever. I feel like I completely wasted over $ 350 and I can’t even go to a pool without shaving like normal. She told me it would be thinner and much lighter that my hair was before so I was hoping that even if it was growing out I’d be able to get away with not shaving constantly. Nope, none of that.
I DO NOT recommend having laser hair removal treatments here because they still do not know how to work the machines or turn up the power more when I say it doesn’t hurt at all and I had zero side effects. I’ve read a lot of articles online that say you should feel the hairs being pulled from your skin or a burning sensation. I asked her on my #2 treatment is she could turn it up but she said no. I followed all of the directions, stayed out of the water and sun after my treatments. Plus, I was getting just my bikini line removed but she barely went into the crease of my leg so even after these treatments I would still have to shave at the edges of my swimsuit. I am very disappointed overall. The only thing I enjoyed about this place was the girl who would do the treatments, what a kind and comforting person. too bad she wasn’t experienced enough on these machines. My bikini lines looks the exact same it did the first day I walked in there. Maybe they should start taking pictures to show (no) progress and give your money back when it doesn’t work. I could have bought a lot of razors for $ 350.

Unlike the previous review, I was satisfied with my experience. I came in as a newbie. Staff greeted me and was very courteous. Office is very clean and nice. I was scheduled to see their Nurse Practitioner since their doc was completely booked. Was called in, was asked questions regarding my dilemma and history. NP comes in, asks me more questions, examines my face AND touches my face, which is the first any clinician has ever done and I don’t mind. Hey, if it helps them w/​their diagnosis and treatment by all means, touch away. After my exam, she gives me samples to try. I wish my last dermatologist gave me samples to try out first b/​c turns out, I was allergic to the meds he prescribed! What a waste that was. Anyways, back to this review, so far the samples I was given are working and doing exactly what the NP said they would do.
