Specialties
At Ola Loa Wellness we teach you how to make great tasting food from the finest local and organic ingredients. Whether you want comfort food, world fusion or vegetarian, we have recipes to fit your taste.
As part of our food and wellness coaching we can even help you makeover your kitchen, shop at the local farmer’s market or health food store, and cook delicious food to keep you and your family nourished. We enjoy sharing our passion for healthy whole foods!
Before our cooking session we will help you decide what you want to learn. Then we will send you a detailed shopping list that includes where to find each ingredient. Then we show up at your home and teach you how to create your culinary masterpiece.
An integral part of our sessions is helping you understand your ingredients because we believe you can make anything healthy by using unrefined, wholesome components.
We work with many people who have diabetes, cancer, thyroid issues, autoimmune, digestive disorders and obesity.
History
Established in 2008.
In the Hawaiian Language, the word «ola» encompasses alive, healing, curing, health, and life. When combined with «loa,» the meaning becomes «long life» or «longevity.»
Hawaii is rich with a vast diversity of colorful, highly nutritious locally grown foods and a wealth of healing knowledge. For decades, Hawaii has touted itself as the «healthy state.» Unfortunately, people have moved away from more traditional, nourishing diets and holistic health wisdom that promote vitality and quality of life.
As a result, levels of diabetes, obesity, heart disease, cancer, autoimmune diseases, and mental illnesses (namely stress, depression, and anxiety) are on the rise in younger and younger populations, including children.
Inspired by our common passion for optimal wellness and our personal experiences healing ourselves, we combined our complementary educational and professional backgrounds to co-create Ola Loa Wellness.

SKYA
While completing my pre-med biology degree, I successfully cured my supposedly «fatal» autoimmune disease through healing foods and yoga. Upon completing my degree, I decided not to go on to medical school, but to share my unique knowledge and experience of how to restore the body to a disease-free, balanced, and vital state.
TRACI
In 2006 I received a Ph.D. in Medical Anthropology from U.C. Berkeley where I participated in the joint program with U.C. San Francisco Medical School. I have spent over a decade researching the healing benefits of culturally diverse food and medical traditions as well as yoga and meditation. Along the way, I lost fifty pounds and reversed chronic pain, IBS, and anxiety.
