Hot Yoga By The Sea

My favorite hot yoga studio. I like they offer different classes and teachers. They are so friendly and personal. Each teacher is unique that makes my yoga practice fun and always refreshing.

I usually go here once a week to stretch out my body from lifting weights and doing muay thai. I usually go to the 5pm and 7pm classes with 8 or 9 am classes occasionally. The class sizes vary, but there are sometimes really big classes, but the instructors make everyone fit thankfully. Definitely try to come 15 minutes before the start of class. I’ve come 15 – 5 minutes before with no trouble though. There use to be a gravel lot where you could park for free, but it is being developed so you have to use metered parking now. Be sure to read the signs as at certain days/​times parking is free.
There have been many different instructors recently. I don’t know their skill level, but they haven’t disappointed me yet. I’m sure the owner knows which instructor is capable of teaching which classes. The heat for the class is turned on and turned off at a certain point during most classes (they have half heat labelled on the classes now). It’s not a problem, I get a good workout and sweat a lot. If you want to sweat a lot, stay under the lamps (in two corners, just look up and you will see them).
Classes: Basic/​Slow flow: Good for beginners or people who do intense workouts. You hold positions for a little longer. Vinyasa: Faster paced yoga, I like this because you hold positions for less time and flow through faster. It is more of a workout. Ashtanga: A very intense workout, even I have a hard time with this on Friday nights. I don’t go to this class often, but if you want a challenging workout this is the way to go. Yoga Nidra: Koa teaches this on Saturday nights and it’s a yoga workout with a added yoga Nidra bonus at the end to refresh you before the start of the week. The instructors also help you do headstands and other advanced moves if you desire to try them out or do so.
The class usually starts standing then eventually moves to the ground. During savasana, you get cold towels on your eyes which is a very nice touch after a grueling workout. Overall I love this place to do small details like these and good yoga instruction. The vibe is very good and Nikki does a great job running the place.

A wonderful place, great instructors and invigorating classes! A great blend of strength, sweat and spirituality. To all the great reviews I would like to add that I enjoy the variety of different instructors. Everyone is very friendly and patient. Each of them brings in their own style and elements in addition to the routine poses.
I also like that the music is changed up to more upbeat sounds at times; it gives the practice more zest and a kick.
Some classes are more intense, high energy, fast paced or hold challenging poses for longer, that gets you burn some serious calories while having fun! It feels empowering and life-​affirming! And other classes are more gentle, focusing more on breath awareness, flexibility, and meditation, bringing the mind to stillness; you come out well-​rounded and balanced and… soaked!

Visiting Kailua for 9 days, I came to Hot Yoga by the Sea almost every morning and experienced the most amazing practice with the beautiful staff in their lovely and serene setting. I took the heated Vinyasa classes and always left completely blissed out and at peace. Much to my surprise, after a little over 2 years of practicing hot yoga, I was able to do a supported headstand and an assisted hand stand for the first time in this space during my visit! I so appreciate the verbal offerings from the super positive and loving instructors at this studio– you all helped me let go of things in my life that were not serving me. Much love and peace to you all and I truly hope to return.

Since I moved to Kailua two years ago, I’ve been a commuter yogi: getting my occasional stretch on after work, in town, waiting out rush hour. Which is great — don’t get me wrong. There’s nothing zen about road rage. But sometimes a lady needs to find her niche closer to home. Enter: Unilocal search.
I’m by no means an hard core yogi, but I do like to carve out time for me and my mat. Hot Yoga By The Sea seemed to be a good fit: offering a wide variety of classes (mostly heated but a few non-​heated) and times, even on the weekends. The studio itself is small but comfortable (fits three rows of five nicely). If, like me, your primary form of navigation is via beverage landmarks, they’re located right across the street from Jewel or Juice.
The owner Niki has been my favorite instructor by far, but I’ve had positive experiences in all of the classes I’ve tried (not too big on iYoga, though, but it’s a thrifty option for those who want a heated class at half the cost). The cool towel alone (scented with essential oils) that they pass out at the end of each hot and sweaty session is worth the price of admission.
Hopefully 2015 will get me back on track and into a regular routine!

This is my all time favorite yoga studio!!! I try to go once a week. Usually on Fridays. It’s a great way to start my aloha weekend;) Sarah was our instructor an wow she is awesome! I felt so relaxed. I highly recommend trying her class! I will be going back every Friday;)

Nice studio and great instructors. Clean and tidy inside. Good atmosphere. Of course it is very hot, so be ready.

I have been coming here for a few years now and have brought a ton of friends who have loved it as much as I do. It is a great mix of classes and teachers. I have never left feeling anything less than amazing! Nikki the owner is a sweet heart, I am so glad her studio has done so well. Wish it was a bigger space now that it’s so popular.

This is a wonderful hot yoga studio! .They offer a large variety of different types of yoga, and the schedule varies so that there are tons of choices to fit yoga sometime into your day, no matter what you have going on.
I need music during my practice, so it’s great that all the instructors have good play lists and it’s a huge motivator for me.
The free parking is FABULOUS. It takes all of the stress out of coming to class! Without it, I would probably hesitate to come during certain times and come in a little frazzled (and probably too late). They also offer specials via e-​mail as well as military discounts, which is awesome!

I have attended hot yoga classes from Bikram Yoga Honolulu and Hot Yoga Nimitz, but Hot Yoga By The Sea offers the most serene and intimate setting of the three! Used to seeing rows and rows of sweaty yogis, I was surprised to enter the studio and see just how cozy it is! With room to fit about 10 – 15 students, Hot Yoga By The Sea certainly lends itself to a more intimate and personal experience.
Hot Yoga By The Sea is hidden away on a dead end road directly across from Cinnamon’s. Thankfully, I had my cousin to lead the way or I may not have found it! There is metered street parking available on Uluniu Street or you can park in the grassy area along Maluniu Avenue for free.
We attended Saturyday’s 7:00 p.m. iYoga Gentle Hot Yoga class. iYoga classes, although taught with a pre-​recording instead of a live instructor, are only $ 5 for a drop-​in class! There is an iYoga model to follow if you are uncertain of the poses which makes it ideal for beginners and pros alike. While I enjoy having an instructor and the adjustments and tips that come with them, there is something very calming about being able to move freely and at your own pace. The Gentle Hot Yoga class is a slow restorative class that keeps you predominantly seated on your mat. It is not too challenging, but is the perfect way to stretch out tight muscles while still reaping the many benefits of a basic hot yoga setting.
At the end of class, we were all treated to a cool towel — a perfect ending to a perfect class!

This review is just based on trying to get in touch with someone who works there. I’ve been looking for a good yoga spot to try for my first time and I’ve literally been calling this place for 2 weeks to get information on classes and prices and I haven’t been able to get ahold of ANYONE not once. Quite unfortunate because I’ve heard many great reviews on this place but I don’t have the time to be going into each location just to get info. :(

Great place! I have taken different kinds of yoga classes over the years but upon a recommendation of a friend, I tried hot yoga at Hot Yoga By The Sea as part of my rehab plan for a sports injury to my back. I have to say that I love the classes here. While I am a newbie to hot yoga, I find there is a good variety of levels in the classes and the instructors are pretty amazing.

Wow do I love HOT YOGA! From my 1^st class I have been hooked people! And the studio here right in Kailua is wonderful! I could not resist a groupon deal for about $ 5 a class and I truly hope they offer it soon again. From my first class Yoga Basics with Kitty I felt very informed and always a new person after I walked out of that studio, having sweated out 5 buckets full of pure stress sweat! The parking is a little tricky in that if you come before 6 PM class you have to feed the parking meters, parking is always available in the Cinnamon’s huge parking lot. My favorite teacher is of course Kitty! I also just took a class with Michael and had a awesome workout too! Kudos to Hot Yoga! Please offer more groupons!

I love this place. I’ve lived in many cities in the US and have taken classes in various styles and locations and this place is amazing and exceeds expectations.
It’s hot but not bikram AT ALL, but you do get a great workout and leave feeling amazing. Theres a few types of classes and some instructors and classes are more challenging than others. (I’d say go see kelly or michael for a killer workout!!!) All the instructors are supportive, never judgmental (you will never encounter a rude vibe from anyone!) always inspiring you to relax, do the poses that feel right, create inner zen, meditate, teach you about benefits of particular moves.
The studio is cozy clean and beautiful. Candles lit, relaxing music. My favorite is the end when they come around to give you an ice cold towel on your forehead scented w essential oils while you’re finishing up the class relaxing in shavassana. They may even give you mini head massages. Sighhhh.
Suggestions: sign in online to reserve your spot, bring towels and water, come early to get a spot you like in the studio and bring change for parking meters.

I have never had the opportunity to try this relaxing lifestyle, until Groupon came along and allowed me to take 10 class for only $ 50! HALF OFF!
I must say, it is not as «relaxing» if you do not let your mind relax, and enter ZEN MODE! I highly recommend to throw out any and all judgements you have on yourself and others during the class. DO NOT or TRY NOT to look around at others, because you will laugh! Stay focused and relaxed. During the heat intensive class-​it is YOU TIME!
Recommendations:
Reserve a spot for each session (it gets busy)
Arrive 10 – 15 minutes early to lye down, get a spot and get focused
Hydrate! Drink plenty of water the day before class as well as the day before.
The heat is exhausting yet exhilirating! 100 degrees allows your body to sweat out all the toxins, and you find inner control & decipline.

I’m getting into yoga again after a really long dry spell. I’m not super flexible and had never tried hot yoga before. I’m an addict! The first class, I felt overwhelmed by the heat and almost walked out, but I’m so glad I didn’t. It only took 3 classes to get used to it and it feels like a great detox to sweat like that! I also felt like with the heat I could pull off much more flexibility, which is very motivating. I would recommend starting with Hatha yoga if you’ve never done HOT yoga because it was less intense movement and more focus on breathing and holding postures. Only been to Niki’s classes so far, hot hatha and hot yoga flow. Will be returning over and over again to try all the classes!

My wife and I have been coming here for a few months and have really enjoyed owner Nikki’s classes. We love hot yoga, just not the Bikram experience of being yelled at all class. Nikki is wonderful, soothing and inspiring at the same time. A few Saturdays ago, we stumbled upon a new instructor Kilty who is AMAZING! Her Vinyasa flow is awesome, her stories funny and sweet and her voice and structure of the class are a perfect combination and way to start off your day.
Did I mention the cold and scented towels for your face at the end? Winners!

I have found my most favorite yoga studio of all.
The studio is nice and clean. The instructors are unlike any others I’ve met. They are inspiring, helpful and knowledgeable. I feel relieved, and even more harmonious after a session than when I first came in.
So far I’ve been to sessions with Britt, Dulce, & Zenny. With Britt I have never sweated my butt off in those excessive amounts in a while. Something about that class at 7pm had me drenched in no time but it felt soooo good afterwards! Dulce, she is the most sweetest, soothing instructor I have met. She focused heavily on the breathing and chants and I left so peaceful that morning. Zenny was good too. She said some great things I could ponder on for the rest of the day. Yoga is definitely about self-​improvement and I’m sure you get the point.
If you think you can stand the heat give this place a try. You might hate it at first but it’s so worth it at the end of class.

I absolutely love coming here to get my hot yoga fix on!
First of all, I love making the drive down there! I go to the night class and whenever I’m driving to the yoga class, I always catch the most beautiful sunset! Which I think adds to the overall yoga process.
Secondly, the hot yoga room is big enough for 15 students. so the class feels individualized and the instructor helps you when your not in the right poses.
Thirdly, the instructors are all nice. they make you feel comfortable during class which I totally appreciate being a yoga beginner!!!
Finally, it’s hot yoga! honestly how can you not want to come here?!! great views, individual help (if needed), a great sweat sesh, and nice instructors! what more can u ask for?!
I’ve only been to the beginner classes and I love it! the routine is always different and I always feel great after each and every class. the only down side to this place might be parking… come at the wrong time and finding any street parking might be impossible. but other than the parking you will love the whole experience at hot yoga by the sea!
