Fusion buffet is exactly what it should be. When you make food in bulk and tell people to eat as much as they can, you don’t expect the food to be gourmet. I was pleasantly surprised. The food not only tastes great but the general appeal of all of there food is well above the average buffet. The egg rolls are amazing and if you like crab, they replenish the stock every 10 minutes. They have an interesting supply of sushi that changes with every visit and they provide an accommodating atmosphere. They also have a hibachi style grill that will make a bowl of food that is fresh and, obviously to your liking. I would recommend this and a great choice on a budget. It misses out on five stars because, well, it is what it is. If you want quality better than average, this is the place, but it will never beat a traditional Chinese restaurant that makes your food from scratch when you order.

This was my first time visiting here, I went for a friend birthday party she was having a there. It was single-handedly the most awful experience I’ve ever had in my life at a restaurant. Never once did we have a waitress or a waiter come to our table and asked us if we wanted anything to drink. We had to hunt someone down to get a drink, they did not even bring a ticket to pay for our dinner. Again, we had to hunt someone down to get a ticket. No one ever came to the table and ask if we are OK or we needed anything. Then a huge brawl broke out in the middle of the restaurant. People were fist fighting throwing tables and chairs and plates. All the waiters and waitresses stood around and watched this and didn’t do anything to stop it. Somebody could have really gotten hurt. They finally called the police and the police showed up a half an hour later after everything has been done and gone. When my friend, the birthday girl ask for a to go box so we could leave because she was so upset at what we had just experienced a flat out refused to give her a box and ignored her. They told her she was not allowed to take her food home from her their buffet. Even though she was unable to eat any of her food because of the drama in the restaurant. The staff was incredibly rude and hateful. Not one of them could speak any English. So communicating with them was next to impossible. I felt, the food was awful. We were there on crab night and the crab was way over cooked and not even seasoned properly. It was the blandest crab I had ever eaten. I honestly didn’t expect a whole lot, because the price was very cheap for all you can eat crab legs. But it was worse than I imagined. My husband barely ate one plate, and he is big eater and loves Chinese food and sushi. He wouldn’t even try the sushi. We watched several people get up and leave and not even pay to eat there. They just left their tickets on the table and walked out. It was the craziest most chaotic thing I had ever encountered in a restaurant. We will definitely not ever ever be going back there. A word to the wise, make sure you bring your armor with you case some crazy chick decides to go postal in the middle of dinner. She was literally hurling plates through the air. They literally need a sign on their front door that says enter at your own risk! Haha!

Possibly the best Chinese buffet in KC. It’s a little on the pricey side, but the food more than makes up for that. Very clean restaurant, especially for a Chinese buffet. My favorite things are the green beans, cooked shrimp, and fried chicken. The crab rangoon were amazing. I know it’s weird, but I base a large portion of how I like a Chinese restaurant on their crab rangoon, and Lucky Dragon passed with flying colors. The other items, they didn’t have. But, I particularly liked the General Tsos. Prices were great and the staff was nice. The only complaint I have about this place is old and dirty.

This place is clean, delicious, and there is something for everyone. They have great food, which has been pretty consistent in taste. If I could afford to eat here everyday, I would!

The food was fresh and good. I like the variety of their buffet. Some buffets have food sitting out and getting old, but not Fusion Buffet.

I’ve been here a total of 2 times The first time was around Christmas time in 2014. That was my first time there it was really good. The second time was in January 2015 I went was around my birthday. my auntie’s boyfriend was taking me, my auntie, and his daughter out for lunch.(It was a early birthday gift) as soon as we got to the table to order drinks(water) our waitress who was really really snooty iMMEDIATELY asked how old my auntie’s boyfriend’s daughter was. She had just turned 13 and we asked nicely if she maybe could have the«kid price» because she just turned 13. Then she said«nope Her 13 «(The reason why she wouldn’t let us do that was because you’re paying for an adult meal if you’re over13) so we thought well whatever let’s just go eat. We all enjoyed our meal. She never came back and gave us napkins or re-filled our waters. She sat across from us feeding some kid completely ignoring us. We had to ask another waiter for napkins. But the bad part was when it came time to pay It was going well but… The lady hovered over my auntie’s boyfriend while he payed for the check. This lady didn’t do her job so we give her NO tip. As soon as he placed it face down she picked it up so fast looked at it and said«No tip?» in my auntie’s boyfriend said«Nope». She walked away looking very irritated. We were just about to leave until my stomach started aching and I felt like I had to throw up. I maybe 4 sushi pieces. Then I threw up. I never get sick or even really throw up. But then and there I did. It was terrible I ran back to the restroom trying to clean my self up. But I had Threw up right there on the floor. All in all we had a terrible experience. The only reason I gave it a second star was for the hibachi grill. And the Hot food bars I’ll go back for the hibachi grill and maybe ONLY the hibachi grill

After a long night out, nothing quite hits the spot like crab rangoon and sushi. This place delivered on both counts. Allow me to take you on my culinary voyage. First and for most, atmosphere. Jono was not a huge fan of the furniture but I didn’t find it necessarily uncomfortable. The staff(and their family) was quite friendly and the 90s greatest hits playlist really brought the ensemble together. On first round of the buffet, standard issue Chinese affair was the focus. Seven types of chicken to choose from! The hibachi chicken was delightful and way they prepared General Tso’s chicken would have made that legendary officer proud. Of course crab Rangoon and Egg rolls could not be passed up. Round two was a trip to the Sushi bar. Now I must say the sushi was not top notch but it is difficult to be as it sits out on the bar. My one regret is not getting the pizza. It was clearly a hit since its run out!

Fusion Buffet has really good sushi buffet. There are plenty of selections for your usual Chinese Buffet food plus Hibachi grill. The place is clean. The staff service removes dirty plates and refills our water and tea quickly.

The restaurant needs renovations and the food was awful. Also, I saw someone throw up and then continue to gorge on crab legs. I immediately asked for the check. On the bright side, the servers were attentive.

My hangover cure starts here. Whenever I’ve drank to much in Westport the night before, this place always sets me right. It’s good for everything. From the, Oh I’m just slightly hungover, nothing a little pizza and ice cream can’t fix. To the, Oh dear God I’m never drinking again all I want is tofu broth and orange soda. The sushi bar and Mongolian grill are all included in the buffet price, $ 10 all you can eat. Seafood night is good also and you can find more unusual things like frog legs, squid, crayfish, baked salmon and crab legs. All the staples are there, whatever you normally order for Chinese. The desserts kinda suck. Mostly frozen cake trays, candy peanuts, hocky puck brownies and these twisty sesame stick things. I usually get the same server who treats me very well, the others are about 50⁄50. I like the TV’s on the walls but the way the place is laid out is awkward. All around the place has a strong 3 stars, I’ve never gotten sick(From my hangover or otherwise) and the people are nice to me, so try it out. Stuff your face.

OK, we have to use the filter and understanding that this isn’t a high-end Chinese restaurant. I’m addressing the restaurant based on it’s value, which is why it earns 5 stars. First, let’s remind ourselves this is an old video store and right next to Gun-Fresh Grocery in WESTPORT. Some of the other reviewers are unhappy that children are in the restaurant, a salad bar is offered, or that there’s too much seafood on the buffet. PF Chang’s and their vegetarian lettuce wraps are just a few miles away if this doesn’t work for you. For a buffet that is $ 8 – 12(depending on meal/day of week) that includes a hibachi grill, decent sushi, many Chinese staples and even crab legs(no, not Alaskan King crab, you other stuffy reviewers), you can’t get a better Chinese buffet for the price in KC proper. I will note, for $ 12 – 14, you can get a single takeout order other places(Thai Place, Bo Lings, PF Chang) that will be better, but you don’t get the selection of a buffet. We’ll address the multiple areas offered in the restaurant. FYI last time I went was a Sunday evening(they did have a few TV’s tuned to NFL), and this review is largely based on my last experience. SUSHI — while not Yellow-Fin and wild-caught Salmon sashimi, is pretty decent. Most of it is imitation crab and/or veggie based but considering the effort/time it takes to make and the cost of sushi elsewhere versus the cost of Fusion, it’s a steal. It’s also fresh, which to me, is the most important part. Last time I went, I think they had 6 – 8 different kinds set out. Also serve pickled ginger and wasabi. HIBACHI — Had shrimp, beef, chicken and tofu for the proteins. All seemed fresh. Lo mien noodles, host of vegetables, peppers and plenty of options for sauces the cook can add. Recommend. Don’t feel bad tipping a buck if the jar is out. BUFFET — Had 6 or so standard chicken dishes which were all good. Multiple pork dishes and a few kinds of soup. Egg rolls, spring rolls, crab rangoon and a few other standard Chinese staples. None were the best I’ve ever had, but were fresh and readily available. They had roast beef and two steamed fish dishes. I will agree there were a few odd balls(nasty pizza and steak pie), overall the selection was adequate. SEAFOOD — The crab legs, while not very thick, were bountiful and included the entire arm sections with pinchers and all. They go quick, but they seemed to be replaced quickly as well. They also had crawfish, which is a bonus if that’s your thing. Coconut shrimp and vegetable shimp were available as well. Baked mussels with cheese were good. DESERT — 5 kinds of ice cream, random cookies… etc. Just ok. OVERALL: The restaurant is in a very urban area and the clientele ranges greatly(fantastic people watching). The prices are very reasonable and the food is very good for what you get. There is plenty of seating, good hours and friendly staff. If you like Chinese buffets with a little more to offer, this is the spot. I wouldn’t take a first date here, but with friends or after a long day in Westport, it’s a great pick. I’ve also heard the take out is good. The bad reviewers failed to see any actual context and were upset a buffet didn’t offer life-changing foodie-snob-only dishes. Diluting the good reviews IMO.

Oh so much better than any other buffet ive had since living here. Would like it a little more if they didn’t allow their children to run around the dinning area all willy nilly but I do get that its a family owned and run business so I get it. The food is quite good for a buffet but could benefit from a little bigger selection. Overall I will definitely be returning here.

I’m eating vegetarian, and was hungry. I stumbled upon Fusion, and went for dinner. I hit it on seafood night. But I survived. I went for the Mongolian BBQ part, cause the rest of the buffet was mostly meat. I love seafood, but it was everywhere. As for seafood: crab legs, shrimp in a few ways, crayfish, scallops, tons of seafood in every aisle, only 3 aisles… Only vegetable alone was green beans and vegetable egg rolls. 3 tiny aisles. Full of mostly, seafood… I digress… Then I found the Mongolian BBQ. Basic at best. Basic but available, including tofu as a selection. My stomach was full of green beans and veggie egg rolls, like a dull thud. I chose the very basic vegetables that were available: typical: green peppers, onions, mushrooms, tofu noodles. It was tasty. It took them forever to bring my check. I means, a very long time. I noticed they took off 2 $ for not eating seafood. I appreciated that, but was still unimpressed.

«I wore my elastic pants for this?» So, I’ve gotten fat. It happens. I mean, this IS America and we’re not exactly lacking for calorie bombs. Why am I sharing my shame? Because it’s important to know that I really love food, and starting today I am going on a seven-week diet and lifestyle reboot, and last night all I wanted was a proper sendoff to gluttony. I figured a Chinese buffet would be a clear winner, but alas it was not. Seeing as this place used to be a beast of a Hollywood Video(RIP, 1990s) I anticipated a positively massive buffet experience. I was woefully disappointed that it was in fact quite limited. Now there were a lot of stations, but most of them were an immediate pass for me. Corn on the cob? Roast beef? A very sad salad bar? OK, so that 3rd one is practically a Chinese buffet tradition, but the other two aptly represent this place’s shortcomings. Here’s what was good: Seafood Delight(but I’m a sucker for imitation crab) Hawaiian Chicken Green Beans Here’s what was OK: Beef & Broccoli Egg Rolls Crab Rangoon Here’s what sucked: Lo-mein «special pork» sushi everything else It’s sad that when I’ve given myself the ultimate permission to have a 9,000 calorie-bomb of a dinner that halfway through my second plate I give up because nothing tastes good enough for me to continue. There are better ways to binge, definitely.

Have you ever seen the Steve Martin film«The Jerk»? Remember the end of the movie when he’s drunk and destitute, wearing a homeless man’s clothes with a 9 o’clock shadow and sitting on a stoop somewhere in desperation? This is how I feel every time I walk out of Fusion Buffet. I’ve never been sick from eating here. No serious health department issues in plain sight. It’s just such an awkwardly arranged, strangely stocked buffet restaurant that you can’t help but feel a little bit of your soul leave your body if you choose to eat here under any pressure other than total lack of access to other foods… say Christmas Day for instance. When I may or may not have eaten here alone because the other sit-down Chinese spots in Midtown all had an hour wait or more. As you can bear witness to yourself, some patrons seem to revel in the strange sushi, the giant unidentified beef chunk that reminds me of some sort of Flintstone Ponderosa tray, and the Buffalo Wings and pizza right there with it. But I’m confused by it all, never quite sure if I’m enjoying anything I’m consuming, or simply on auto-pilot because I’m drunk with 11.00 to my name and I’m simply looking to fill my belly like the Walking Dead. Some staff are friendly. Others are obviously annoyed at the format/layout. The place is carpeted, which as a recently renovated restaurant puzzles the hell out of me from a maintenance viewpoint. Go here if there’s literally no other choice. It’s affordable. It’s technically food. It’s just very, very strange and subpar.

This has to be one of my least favorite buffets that I have ever set foot in. The interior is in need of a renovation — ripped parts of the faded carpet, rips on the seats. The food is not very good either. Everything that was fried tasted the same. The egg custard tasted like oil. Their sushi tasted like it was made a few days ago. The Mongolian grill cook did not follow what was requested and the squid was not fully cooked. The dessert section tasted old and bland as well. I was afraid to get ice cream because the scoop was left in standing water. The water should always be on so the water isn’t stagnant. I have to admit, they do live up to their name: Fusion. It’s the fusion of Chinese, American, and Japanese cuisine by making everything taste exactly the same and bland. If you’re in the mood for a Chinese buffet, drive to Wei’s Super Buffet in Olathe, or Joy Wok in Overland Park.
