I-70 Drive-In Theatre

Great place to see two movies for a great price. Improvements have been made to the place in the last few years. They now accept debit and credit cards. The sound and movie quality is much better than before. Now there is a rewards program every time you purchase a ticket or visit tell concession stand. The only downside is the grounds could use some repaving and the restrooms need an update. The concession prices are comparable to the regular theatre. Definitely will continue to come back.

New screens ROCK! I have no complaints regarding this place, at all. As long as you show up on time or a little early to get a good spot (I recommend early movie times or LATE movie times) then you’ll have no problems. With the new screens/​digital picture you really can’t go wrong if you’re wanting a night out at the movies. Especially if you have kids & the weather is nice then you can let them run around, BBQ, make a night of it with your family! =)

Reasonable concessions if you’re into that sort of stuff. Yeah, the bathrooms are an eyesore and broken for the most part. But $ 10 bucks for a double feature and the nostalgia factor? It makes for a great time. ‘Nuff said.

I’ve seen some folks bring out their own grill… brilliant! For others that opt for the concession stand, prices are also fairly reasonable. $ 3-​$ 5 range per item for fries/​corn dogs/​burgers/​etc.

Visited this summer and had good family fun. I wish there were more drive inns. Fun for whole family, to sit under the stars in our lawn chairs and enjoy a good movie, completely relaxing. Great for kids, we could talk during the movie without worrying about disturbing anyone around us. Sound now pipes through your car stereo, which is a huge improvement over the traditional drive inn speaker systems.

This made my cross country trip. A decision on a whim, this was my first drive in experience. I am kinda in love. There is just something so nice and nostalgic about it. We grabbed our lawn chairs and parked as the sun set. Concessions were very reasonable, the grounds were clean, and it was just fun to snuggle with a blanket and my man, under the stars. Reading another review that says dog friendly really wishes there was one closer to home.

First time coming here, and I really liked it. It was easy to find and tons of space on a Saturday night. I saw a triple feature (end of summer special) for $ 10. Slightly more expensive than others I’ve been to, but still more than worth it to avoid theater prices. Plus, I brought my two dogs!
Unlike some of the other drive-​ins I’ve been to, the movies play immediately back to back, which is nice.
Like I said, tons of spaces to park, and I was here on a Saturday night. I think the only downside is the bathrooms. I went right before the next movie started, so there was a little line (but there always is for women’s restrooms), but one or two of them looked clogged and it was a little bit dirty, with a slightly flooded floor. Other than that, though, pretty typical public restroom.
I’ll definitely be back. :)

For a night of doing something different with your family, give any drive-​in a try.
This place is very nostalgic. Don’t expect to have the same quality video quality of a modern day cinema. The sound quality via FM frequency is very good. Window speakers are still an option. Please support any drive-​in in the USA.

Normal drive in stuff. But the people that patron this place are rude. They can’t bother to turn off there head lights or rurn off there base pumping music to watch the movie. And the shear number women telling there kids «shush. I said shut up ! SHUT THE FUCK UP OR YOUR GONNA GET IT» is amazing
Not to mention its cash only & $ 10 per person. No mater the amount of people you have in your car. Think ill just go to an over priced 3-​d or I max next time. At least there have batgrooms that lock

I love drive-​ins, and a double feature for $ 8 where I can bring my own snacks is also a bonus. I have a few issues with the I-​70 Drive In though — screens are smaller than most and the audio cut out numerous times during the show. I’ve had better viewing experiences at nearby Twin and Boulevard drive ins, but the 4 screens at I-​70 are a bonus. They show the double features twice, so for movie fanatics, you can watch your double feature then move to the next lot and see another. You may not leave the lot til 3am, but you’ll definitely get your money’s worth.

I-​70 Drive-​In is one of the things that I love about Kansas City. 2 movies for the price of 1! And we’re talking first run movies too. Sound is broadcast via FM radio so no you don’t have the old speakerbox experience anymore. And they have 4 screens, so you have 8 movie choices. Access is also a lot easier than it used to be with recent improvements to I-​435 and I-​70. With the drive-​in being located basically on the Northeast corner of the I-​435 /​I-​70 Interchange it’s easy to get to from anywhere in the KC Metro.
Concession stand pricing reminds you it’s not a QuikTrip but it’s not excessive either. The popcorn is always good too, never had stale popcorn here, ever.
The restrooms… are seriously sketchy. Think retro, circa 1950… ick. I hate to say it but if you need to go, I hope you’re comfortable squatting /​hovering. Yeah, it’s that bad… you don’t wanna touch nothing!
But beyond the retro bathrooms from he** this is a place you really want to check out. We’ve taken kids many times, they can get out of the car and stretch and not annoy everyone around you. Got someone with a pickup? Turn it around, sit on the tailgate with good beer and enjoy the show and having your friends with you. There’s a lot of things you can blow $ 8 on but you’ll be hard pressed to find a good value like this anywhere else.
Note: During the winter months they are open on weekends only. Look them up online for their schedule and show times.

Drive-​ins are great. Bathrooms here are horrible, though, gross and broken and just not good. (Delayed review, originally June 2012.)
