Rainbow Car Wash

I’ve been to this place three times, and each time the staff is friendly enough. You pull up to the front little office, and the basic wash is $ 9, there are 4 types to choose from, but I get the basic. They give you an Armour All type of wipe for the inside of your vehicle. Then after pulling around the corner, there are two guys there to power wash it for you before you pull into the car wash itself. Once you pull through, there are a bunch of guys there to hand dry your vehicle.
I like the individualized attention your vehicle gets, but because of this I always expect my vehicle to be cleaner than it ends up being when I’m finished. It’s always clean, but I feel like it’s been cleaner after other car washes. I keep coming back to this one because it is close to where I live — but it has yet to wow me.

I tried this place out due to the great reviews it’s received and the reputation of its quality service — I wanted to see what the buzz was about!
To my dismay, I wasn’t blown away or fascinated by this place as fellow Unilocalers were.
Being located on the corner of a busy street (rainbow blvd) is prime real estate for the business owner, but poses an inconvenience for customers and commuters — right-​hand lane moves slow as people are trying to get to the car wash, not necessarily stopped at the light, FYI.
I did appreciate the Armour cleaning towel they give you after you purchase your car wash, have yet to experience a complimentary cleaning towel with any other car wash in the city — cleaning towel comes with all car wash packages.
The power washers being operated by two car wash operators is a nice touch and allows for more attention on cars that have spots of filth for them to focus on getting that cleaned off; On the contrary, my car wasn’t evenly power washed, so the right side of my car (where a lot of the dirty spots were) was nice and clean, but the left side wasn’t given the same amount of attention.
There was a line forming, 5 cars behind me and this was at 5:40 p.m., so they are trying to get you in and out, or so it seems. Additionally, the traffic is accumulating on the street, so I’m sure they are trying to help remedy that by getting you in and out as quickly as possible.
Once you’ve put your car in neutral and gone through the robotics part of the car wash, which takes a few seconds to add soap, shiner and then rinse your car, another nice touch is the fact that they have 3 people that hand dry your car with towels.
I will say that during the end of the car wash, when I had the three guys drying my car, that the rear end of my car and bumper weren’t given any attention too, which is kind of a bummer.
Lastly, you’re on a pulley system while your car is in neutral, when you’re going through the car wash and while the guys are manually hand wiping your car dry. There isn’t a red/​green light system implemented that tells you when to switch from neutral to drive. With that being said and it being my first time, one of the hand drying operators kept hitting the back of my car, I’m assuming to tell me to go?, yet one of the hand drying operators was still drying my car.
I tried to roll my window down to figure out what it is I was being instructed to do, and to give them a tip, while the same guy that banged on the back of my car proceeded to tell me «to get out and go». Again, they were getting busy and I understand that, but, to me, that’s the downside of this place being as tiny as it is and located on a busy street — lower customer service can subsequently be the result of speediness.
Overall, it’s an above average car wash with a few personal, unique features that gives this place a charming appeal. I would like to go back and give this place another shot in the future.

It’s a pretty nice car wash. The place was a lot more compact than I imagined, and I wish the vacuum was complementary like it is at a lot of other places. They also missed a spot when wiping down my windows… but the post-​wash wipe was something I’ve never encountered at other car washes and it was a nice touch. I will probably come here again.

My charcoal gray car looked like it had been peppered with pollen paintballs and bird poop. That burst of spring pollen and sparse rain made even me, the guy who almost never washes his car, realize that it was looking pretty rough and time for a cleaning. I could barely see out of the windows to get over there.
I popped over to Rainbow Car Wash, a place I’d driven by countless times but never actually visited. When you pull in, you tell them what wash you’d like (priced $ 9-​$ 14) and they give you an Armour All type rag to wipe your dash down. While it’s an automated touch wash, they have people working to power wash it down as you wait in line.
The wash is quick and the crew will wipe it down and dry it off. Make sure you’ve got some tipping cash before you go, and I have to say, while a few bucks more than I expected, my car looks pretty dang good.

I’m definitely a fan of this place for all of the same positives others have mentioned. They are fast and efficient and my car comes out sparkling clean. I really love the pre-​wash and the guys drying it down at the end.
Don’t forget to tip at the end. You are going to feel like you won’t have a chance but one of the guys will walk forward, tip them, and then they’ll wipe your window dry again after you roll it back up.
If you buy 9 you get one free.

Just posted this on a chat thread, but wanted to share here, too: If I just need a quick outside wash I really like Rainbow Car Wash on Rainbow and 47^th in KCK. They give you a wet-​wipe cloth to wipe down the inside dash while you’re rollin’ through and hand dry it as you’re rollin out. Guys are always super nice, and also have vacuums if you need ‘em. Don’t forget to tip on the way out!

Best car wash in town.

I found it to be really expensive for an automatic car wash. The close location to my apt is pretty convenient though. I will be searching for better options though.

I love this place. 50 cents and my whole Jeep is vacuumed. The guys working are always full of smiles & I love the hand drying. The prewash is great and our vehicles always look nice when we are done. The only place I go to get my vehicle washed.

I will drive 20 minutes away and bypass all other car washes just to come to this one. I know that sounds crazy, but let me tell you this car wash is top notch. It’s one thing to see a line of dirty cars waiting to get a car wash, but it is another to see all high-​end expensive cars waiting in line to get a car wash. I have seen everything from beamers to bentleys waiting in line to get a car wash.
This particular car wash also has gas pump services available while you are waiting in line, you can fill up your car. They use a pre treater to loosen up all of the bug juices that accumulate on your vehicle then secure your vehicle with a rail & belt system that locks your front driver side tire in place. You are then taken through a series of cycles to wash your vehicle and then air dried followed by hand dried. This is the time to give a tip if you are going to give one. The vacuums are on the south side of the building and this is where it can get a little crazy. There are only two and the lot is small so you have to manuver very carefully if other vehicles are around.
Make sure that you come from the north side of Rainbow blvd to turn right into the car wash. If you come from the south and there is a line you will be redirected to the back of the line because you will hold up traffic from the south when you are trying to make a left hand turn in front of oncoming traffic.
The only down side to this car wash is that they don’t have an interior service to clean up your car, but they do a very good job on the outside of it. Also, if you want to detail your car, just walk up to one of the guys and ask them for a couple of towels and they will let you borrow them, which is pretty cool I think.

Best car wash in the metro.
The first thing about this wash is the fact that they have two attendants use light-​power pressure nozzles to pre-​wash the bumpers and wheels. This makes sense cause those are usually the parts that are more neglected in car wash machines.
The machine it’self does a great job with getting dirt off. Probably one of the best that I know of.
The best part is that after you pass through the dryer, there’s a team of four to six people just waiting for you to move up to them, and they totally wipe the car down completely. So there’s no need to worry about dry spots so much.
Sadly, I’m not close enough to enjoy it regularly, but whenever i’m in the area and I need a wash, I make time for it.

My very favorite car wash in town. They do a quality job!
