Vee Village Imports Parts

I have taken my cars to Vee Village for 25+ years. Bob is always straight forward and provides the details necessary for me to make an informed decision. His communication is clear and without any BS. Never once have I felt cheated or received anything but the best service for any of my vehicles. I trust them completely.

Here’s the thing, Unilocalers. We the Vee Village long-​long-​longtime customers don’t care about your negative shit. I’m sitting in what laughably passes for a waiting room at VV, waiting for my oil to be changed by a guy who doesn’t even show up until 8, watching Bob greet a steady stream of customers by name, offering them rides to work (because the waiting room offers no coffee, and bring your own internet), and reading complaints cross posted to Google+ about how VV screwed their parents (so their parents said) or charged too much (according to them) for an oil change. I’ve sat here in this waiting slash reception area numerous times over the years, observing this parade of loyal customers, most of whom cannot be bothered to go online and give Bob and the crew five stars because they know these guys get plenty of referrals from people like themselves. Besides, no one learns about VV from some internet site. They learn about it from a friend. And here is what the friend probably says: Yeah, they’re a little on the expensive side, but they do great work.
One time I went to a locally owned oil change shop that had just opened near me, and they had the whole customer experience thing worked out, seemed promising. Only the next time I took my car to VV for a repair, Bob had pointed out that a nut was missing, or something wasn’t tightened, something that would have caused a catastrophic fail eventually. The oil change shop is now closed. Or the time the Civic boiled over near the airport, and I wasn’t there, so the wife took it to the sleazy Honda dealership near the airport, and they said, oh you need a new Honda, this engine is a goner, and I had it towed to VV, and Bob gave me the busted $ 5 thermostat as a keepsake when he did the repair. I use it as a paperweight. There are more examples. You believe what you want to believe.

I’ve been bringing our cars (Honda CR-​V /​Scion Xb) to VeeVillage for five years. They’ve been wonderful to work with and they have 100% of my trust. There have been many times where I’ve come in convinced that my car needed a major repair, and many times, they’ve been honest, done a quick easy fix, and sent us home with a low bill.
Not sure about the other review about the high-​priced oil change– I take our car there every 3000 Miles for an oils change and the price is always just a few more dollars than what you’d pay at Firestone, but totally worth it since they don’t haggle you with up sells that you don’t need.

The oil change was quick (although expensive at $ 70) but I had an issue with exhaust smell coming in through the vents. When I asked that they drive it around with the air on fresh (instead of recycle) the technician didn’t bother nor did they feel like they should after I called back. They recommended I take the car to another shop for a second opinion. I certainly don’t mind paying more for quality service (I can get a full synthetic oil change at Firestone for $ 40) but things like this just add to the stereotype of an auto shop that is looking for shortcuts.

We used to like these guys but they seem to be dropping the ball lately. Poorly balanced tires, over tightened bolts, «almost fixed» repairs.

When I moved to KC from upstate New York, I was sad to be leaving my friends behind who knew VW’s and did all the work on mine. Coming here, you would have thought I had a Lamborghini for how difficult it was to find shops who would work on/​have parts for VW’s. (I hate dealerships– I wanted an independent shop). That was until I found Vee Village! Some fellow VW people recommended it to me and I am so glad they did!
Bob at the front desk is great– super friendly and knowledgable, and Andy, who does all the VW work, knows his stuff and is awesome. I’ve brought my car there every time something needed to be done on it and I’ve never felt like they screwed me over or took advantage since I’m a woman (as does happen at many shops). Any time something has gone wrong, they are able to explain the how and why to me and I’m never left feeling like they’re doing work that isn’t necessary.
They also have a parts shop right there so you’re never waiting around for parts to come in. And there’s even a shuttle that takes me to work in the morning when I drop my car off then comes back to pick me up when it’s done. Highly recommended if you have a Volkswagen or even if you don’t!

used to love the place but they just screwed my parents out of hundreds of dollars. They have taken it back in three times to get repaired to where it should be, and they seem to find another mystery problem. Don’t trust them anymore.
UPDATE: The water pump went out again and Vee Village will not replace it unless they pay, even though a month ago they were supposed to put a new one in.
Save your time and money and go somewhere else, I have never been to a worse car repair place in Kansas City. We are planning on legal action since we are one of 5 cutomers that has had severe issues with Vee Village.

My beau and I have both taken our cars to Vee Village for a variety of things. The guy at the counter is TOTALLY Ned Flanders from The Simpsons.
These guys aren’t going to lie or try to gouge you. They are good people who know that providing good service keeps customers coming back. They told me my car was going to need the front break pads replaced, but I should come back in 4,000 miles. Now, they could have told me I needed them THAT DAY. But instead they told me the truth, and I respect that. I’d also like to point out that as a woman, I’ve NEVER felt talked down to, or treated as if I was any less knowledgeable.
The one thing that kinda sucks is that they are closed on weekends. But really, I do not care because they are so good to me.
Cars are going to need maintenance and repair. It’s like death and taxes, a sure thing. But by taking my car to Vee Village, I know that my car is going to get exactly what it needs to keep it running as long as possible, at the best price possible.
