Kern Lodge

The staff was nice, but the bed was not great and the rooms are a little cramped. We didn’t have enough towels in our room either. The walls are thin, and you can hear the neighbor’s TVs.

We stayed here Dec 4 — Dec 7. Our room was clean, nice tv cable package. The room is in serious need of updates. The shower is 2′ x 2′, my husband knocked the shampoo dispenser off the wall while washing his hair! The windows are very old and drafty. The only heat source is a wall unit in the bed area, so heating the bathroom was a challenge. Here are some pictures

My second time here but definitely not the last. Many options including kitchenette with mini fridge and microwave. Walking distance to a market and Kern River Brewing. Pizza Barn 3 minute walk. Lodge is outside of main town but could easily walk it. Pizza Barn a short walk. Air conditioning and lots of windows. Rooms are clean and nicely furnished although rustic and simple. Lagrange led tv with 58 channels of basic csble.
There is a pool and a little park with bbq. Rooms are quiet despite being next to busy highway and bar. Hard to find a better place in the area if even could.

Cleanest room I’ve been in a long time! I brought some lysol wipes with me and there was no dirt on them when I was done wiping some stuff down. Staff is very nice and extremely helpful, most helpful maid I’ve ever met! Our air conditioner broke, they tried their hardest to fix it. They could not get it fixed so they are going to have us change rooms and credit our stay. Good thing because it is our anniversary. We were up all night because there was no AC, I hope none of the other guests complain about that lol
A quick 4 minute walk and you’re down to the river. They even offer you rags to clean down your motorcycles, how great is that!

I will be coming back! The room is clean and comfortable. The bed is a nice memory foam that allows you to sleep through the night. Room had a kitchenette with small refrigerator and microwave. Nice bathroom. Outside the room is a swinging bench… A nice touch. Clean but unheated pool. Great location… Walking distance from restaurants and a store across the street. Nothing much on the outside but don’t let that throw you.

We booked last minute this past Friday night, and we are so happy that we did! Upon stopping in Bakersfield on our way home to San Diego from San Francisco, the bartender at Lenghtwise Brewery told us we should stop in Kernville, so we did. The Kern Lodge was a place I’d been eyeing for a while, so we decided to stay there. Everything was great here. Sue, the owner, along with her canine greeters, Rocky and Rollie, were so sweet and welcoming when we pulled into the lodge. The room we stayed in, which Sue said was one of her smallest, was the largest room we stayed in over our week of traveling and staying in 6 different hotels. It was clean, the ac worked great in the 99 degree heat, and the bed was super comfortable. A dip in the pool was also refreshing after a day of traveling! I had the pleasure of speaking with Sue when I went looking around the property to play with the dogs, and she is such a nice lady. She gave me lots of great information about the area, and we are already trying to decide when we can go back to Kernville — and stay at the Kern Lodge again.

My family and I have been coming here every year during the summer, and we just love the Kern Lodge. We always feel welcomed with Sue and her staff. The location is perfect as its next to the Kern River Brewery and just a couple minutes away from the camp spots along the river. I always look forward to my stay at the Kern Lodge.

We stayed here Aug 6−9^th and found the staff to be amazing! Beds were comfortable and the pool, bbqs, fire pit and extra large chess and checkers were a hit with the kids! Is located within walking distance of everything! We had a great time and will be back. Thank you Sue!

Just got back from our third time staying at the Kern Lodge. My boys and I had a great time like always. The owner, Sue, and her staff are all very friendly and hospitable. Great location within walking distance of the supermarket, a good pizza place, and other restaurants. We cooked out again on the two large grills in the BBQ area and ate on the swinging picnic tables. Highly recommended for families to get away! Looking to come back in October for the annual hot rod show.

Stayed on Saturday August 1, 2015 for one night, could not get out quick enough! The check in was very quick and pleasant, the pool is great, great location, walking distance to all shops, bar, grocery etc. BUT there is a serious bug problem in kernville that has sadly effected the kern lodge! It’s terrible to drive 4 hours pay $ 125 and stay in a room that was infested with bugs! Not just one or two! Lots and lots of bugs. Guest need to be warned before traveling to Kernville! BYOB «bring your own bug spray» no Joke! I have lots of photos to prove it.

Today is our third day at kern lodge. It’s been such a great experience! The rooms and kitchen are perfect for our family size. we brought our own oak BBQ pit and they had perfect areas to BBQ. The pool area is clean with plenty of seating and the front desk lady roSe was prepared for all our questions. Don’t underestimate the river Rapids And there are water bugs

Great small Mom-​n-​Pop Motel. Much better than our old place down in Lake Isabella… The room and motel amenities are very clean and in good repair for a seemingly dated motel. It is dated, but only if you wanted to compare it to a brand new Holiday Inn or something…
One of my yardsticks for measure these days is tech accommodations. Like other reviewers have mentioned, the WiFi could be better… And I always need more receptacles… TV and channels just adequate.
A more traditional measure, the water pressure in the shower was really good…
A huge plus — it’s right next door to Kern River Brewing! Pretty good chow, and pretty good beer… Just Outstanding IPA… If passing through and needing to stay, that alone would bring me back to this nice little place! :-)

The pool area was nice, the bbq area was GREAT! Lots of fun little things to do. (ie checkers, pool table, chess.) the rooms are clean and up to date in technology. Worked out perfectly for our group of 16.
It would be nice if all rooms had a kitchenette. But other than that it was a great place. Staff was awesome and friendly. Walking distance to the store and brewery.

We stayed at the Kern Lodge Sunday night. We had driven about 5 hours to get our son to summer camp in the area, and it was too dark to drive back home through the winding canyon. We had no idea where to stay. We came upon Kernville and my husband said how about staying in this little town. We finally had wifi on our phones since we were in the little city (up until then we had no service), so I checked out customer reviews and saw that they were great!
Upon our arrival we were there after hours for the front desk, but pressed the bell, and were met by the owner Sue (and her cute two dogs). She was super nice! She said that we looked exhausted (which we were) and that she was going to give us a nice deal because it was our first time there. She even upgraded us to the honeymoon suite! What a HUGE blessing! We really appreciated that and needed a good night’s sleep. What great customer service! (It was like a little honeymoon getaway!)
The suite was great! Very open floor plan. Full-​sized kitchen, dining table, comfy/​homey sectional couch, love seat, 2 flat screen tv’s, cozy bathroom, spacious bedroom.
OMGoodness, the bed was soooooo comfy!!! I wish I new what kind it was because I need that in my bedroom. The pillows were perfect too! The best nights sleep I’ve had in awhile.
Unfortunately we had to leave at 5:30am to get drive home and get to work. Otherwise we would have lounged all morning. But, if we ever come back to Kernville we will stay there! Thank you Sue for your amazing hospitality!

My boyfriend and I decided to stay here instead of camp, and I’m so glad we did! It’s an adorable spot right next to Kern County Brewing Company– the room was spacious and super clean and even has a little kitchen area with a sink, mini fridge, microwave, toaster and coffee maker. The sheets and mattress were so soft and comfy too! They offer a AAA discount which made our room very reasonable. The lady who checked us in was really sweet and allowed us to look at a room before she booked it for us. Kind of sad we only stayed for one night!

It’s kind of like staying at Grandma’s house! Wood paneling, antique looking furniture, ect. You can tell they take pride in their place, each room has a different theme and name to match. The staff was really nice. I think our group had rented out about 9 of the rooms and no one had any complaints! Well some of us had weird dreams at night??! And I had trouble with the wifi but others didn’t. My room was smaller, the photographer on the other had had a huge room with a full bathroom and patio. All the rooms seemed pretty nice though.

We stayed here last week of March 2015. Made Reservations w/​Rose over the phone, who was very pleasant and most accommodating. Checked in w/​Crystal who was also very delightful as well as helpful. We had room 112 (u can see rooms on line) which had it’s own BBQ, we bought (2) Rib eye Steaks across the street and downed those w/​a couple ice cold ones! Our room had a good size Flatscreen TV, Cable, Wi FI AC/​Heater w/​Remote, small kitchen. Very comfortable beds, Rustic cabin home feeling place w/​out of this world hosts.

We stayed at the Kern Lodge this weekend March 14^th and were very surprised, it was actually our second time staying there but our first time using the BBQ area. This BBQ Area is the reason for we are giving 5 stars.

The BBQ is the 5^th star, The BBQ area is gated so we were able let the dog off the leash for a while, the BBQ is gas so you don’t need to bring charcoal, the area has just about everything you need Two Big BBQs serving table, Sink for washing dishes, spatulas/​tongs for cooking. The BBQ area also has really nice seating include some swing/​tables and fire pit with supply of cut and ready fire wood. Also the BBQ area is open all night.
Game room with pool table and darts and the fact that it’s right next to a brewery is also a plus

What a wonderfully pleasant stay I had here this past weekend! The staff was extremely friendly, the room was quaint yet comfortable, just a really positive time overall. Reasonable rate given the location, too. My only (small) complaint is that the wifi signal was extremely weak. But when you’re up in an area like this, that should be and was very low on the list of priorities. Thumbs up!

Nice comfy rooms with kitchenette! It’s cold in Kern and so I needed to turn the heat on. Their new heating in the rooms is a little confusing. I froze for 3 hours before the girl at the desk came to show me how to properly operate the AC. My bad for not asking sooner. The room was quickly TOO warm!!!
