Dr. Kong and Dr. Moon met while working together at another office and learned they work well together. They both live in Forest Hills, Queens and were happy to find a space nearby in Kew Gardens, NY to serve the local community of Forest Hills, Flushing, Jamaica, Elmhurst, Rego Park, Richmond Hill, Briarwood, Maspeth, Ridgewood and Glendale. This makes it easier for them to see their patients if there are any emergencies and stretch their working hours a bit to accomodate their late working patients when necessary.

I love serving my family of patients as their dentist and periodontist because of the hodgepodge of people I meet everyday.

The goal of my practice is simply to help my patients retain their teeth and beautiful smile in great health all of their lives.

I also offer 100% doctor care by performing all in-​office procedures myself — including hygiene.

My patients know I appreciate the challenge of dentistry, both complex and simple as well as the great deal of trust they leave in my hands to accomplish the job. This is why I love what I do and always strive to go the extra mile, for my dental family.

I wouldn’t normally write Unilocal reviews, but I’m making an exception for Dr Kong and his entire team (Sue & Flo).
I’ve been going to see him for more than a couple of years now. I can honestly say that he’s the best dentist I’ve ever dealt with. I’ve had multiple implants with extensive bone grafting and bridge work done so you could imagine the amount of work he did and expertise he has. I actually looked forward to some appointments despite the pain, because I knew I was in good hands and can be 100% confident in the outcome. There were times adjustments were needed and Dr. Kong went the extra mile to make sure things got done the right way.
So make the call already, you won’t be disappointed.

From the moment I called to make an appointment I was given exceptional customer service. The receptionist had excellent phone etiquette. Dr. Kong is great! I’ve been going to him for a few years now. Make sure you do what you’re supposed to do to take care of your teeth though because he will definitely tell you about yourself in a nice way. You can tell he really cares about his patients.
There is never a long wait, you arrive for your appointment and he’s ready for you. When you’re in the chair he’s gentle and he makes sure you’re comfortable.
Sue at reception is very sweet as well. She recognizes me right away even after I’ve been away for quite a few months. She addresses me by name and is very cordial.
Dr. Kong’s assistant is great as well.
Everyone is professional & caring. I’ve recommended him to many even though they didn’t take my recommendation I’d still recommend this office.
If you have a really stressful procedure Dr. Kong will even call you later that evening to check up on you. That’s amazing.

I would definitely recommend Dr. Kong to anyone in the area. I am the biggest damn baby about going to doctors or dentists and I probably would have waited a second whole decade to get my teeth dealt with if I hadn’t managed to chip one right up front. Well, you’d never know it was ever chipped now! Dr. and staff are very easygoing and professional and great at what they do — no pain at all during any of the procedures I had done. I used to be unreasonably terrified of going to the dentist — now I’m keeping up with the recommended cleanings (love the appointment reminders, too). 5 stars, for sure.

Ok, first off, this review is long overdue. My apologies to the Unilocal community for holding out. I live in Atlanta but came up to NY to get 2 implants. In truth I’ve known Dr. Kong aka John, for some time. I knew he was doing perio so I reached out and he was helpful in getting me useful information. I really didn’t know what type of periodontist Doc was, but I felt/​hoped I would be reasonably taken care of as a patient. Prior to my first procedure, I looked up his Unilocal reviews and I was super shocked to see all the superlative reviews. Not that I didn’t have confidence, but I just didn’t know him professionally and I felt much better about coming up to see him. As objective as I can possibly be, I’m going to say that John is a master practitioner. He is skillful and confident. He doesn’t baby the patient, but he ensures there is absolutely no pain. There is no coddling, but in it’s place, there is education about what is happening during the whole procedure. He is meticulous, thorough and efficient and truly advocates for the patient.

Dr. John Kong is the best dentist I’ve ever had. I had an issue with my right top molar. There was pain everytime i bit into food. I was expecting the worse, but after a thorough examination… i just had to shave a little off the molar. The pain was gone when I ate after the appointment. Dr. John Kong’s bedside manners are outstanding and actually cares for your well being. He takes time to explain your issue and finishes the job no matter how long it takes.
Dr. John Kong is definitely on top of his game and tells you how it is. I’m definitely changing my dentist to Dr. Kong and would refer any of my friends to go to him as well.

I hadn’t been to a dentist in years, out of fear mostly, but also out of contempt for the many incompetent ones out there who would gladly destroy your teeth and bill your insurance company for the privilege. Of course, all those years of neglect took their toll. I needed a periodontist, and I researched dozens because I didn’t want a repeat of my previous bad experiences. All the time I spent reading websites and reviews paid off when I found Dr. Kong. He is an experienced professional, with a soothing voice and great bedside manner. Perfect for someone like me who panicked at the mere mention of dentists. He gives clear, concise explanations of the work he’s doing and the cost. His office is clean and well lit, and his staff is always cheerful. I would recommend Dr. Kong to anyone in need of an excellent practitioner.

From the first day I came here Dr. Kong and his staff have been more than helpful and overall great. It’s nice to make an appointment and have that appointment time met and not waiting an hour in the lobby. I’ve had root canal, extractions, cleanings, and soon an implant. I was recommended by a friend after my previous dentist no longer accepted my insurance. Dr Kong and Moon have been great and I should have switched a lot sooner. First of all, promptness. All our appointments have been on time and done quickly and professionally. Both dentist are very nice and reduced my anxiousness for dental procedures. The staff is also very attentive and professional as well.
The office is clean and the actual rooms are clean and sterile. All the equipment and surfaces are all prepped and cleaned and recovered after every patient.
I have full confidence that my family’s dental needs are in good hands.
I highly recommend Dr Kong!
The massaging dental chair is also a really nice touch.

Very happy to have found Dr. Kong on Unilocal!It happened a few months ago when my wife had a severe toothache. He diagnosed and fixed the problem quickly and made her feel comfortable despite the fact that she’s very squeamish. Today, I went for my first visit – a routine exam and cleaning (it’s been a few years). One of my molars has been very sensitive an a previous dentist said I need a root canal. Been putting off dealing with it. But, today Dr. Kong noticed that my discomfort was probably due to my tooth being uneven and receiving too much pressure on one side while chewing. He evened out the tooth free of charge! And, so far (too soon to know for sure) I think it’s better! Can’t express how relieved and thankful I am!

I found Dr. Kong via my insurance company’s website. I needed a specialist to perform a one-​time sugery that my regular dentist did not offer. First impressions are important to me when it comes to doctors and I was made to feel comfortable the minute I made contact with Sue via phone. She is so personable! She promptly took all my info and scheduled an appointment for an exam. Still, I was a bit nervous when I arrived. I hate having dental work done. And even though it was only an exam, I feared the scolding that I sometimes got from dentists for neglecting my teeth. I needn’t have worried. Dr. Kong was so kind and explained all my options honestly. He still needed to obtain approval from my insurance company, so I had to wait about 2 weeks before scheduling my procedure. Again, the day of, I was still a little anxious. But no sooner had he gotten me settled in the chair and numbed (BARELY feeling the dreaded needle) he told me we were done! I didn’t feel a thing. Post-​op went exactly as explained and I did not experience any complications. Follow-​up visit to remove sutures took all of 30 seconds and I was all healed and on my way. So glad to have found this practice. I would definitely recommend Dr. Kong for your Periodontal needs and will use him in the future.

I’ve had the same dentist my entire life, but recently had to find a new one: Dr. Kong. While I was tentative to venture into new territory, I found Dr. Kong to be both efficient and professional. I liked his receptionist (very friendly) and the level of cleanliness of the facilities. Scheduling was easy (he and his receptionist are very responsive to emails and calls). Timing was convenient (after 5:00pm). His cleaning was not like that of my previous dentist (which I thought was a bit more thorough, but also a lot more expensive, so I won’t count this against him), but he took care of a cavity painlessly and in record time. I haven’t (luckily) had to have anything more complex, but I would trust him if I needed any subsequent work. I would highly recommend him. Bonus: a massage chair kneads your back while you’re getting your mouth worked on!

Was referred to Dr. Kong by my regular dentist so decided to check reviews online and pay him a visit. Not only are all his reviews 5 stars but he honestly he deserves more than 5 stars. He is very caring and explains everything in a way that is easy to understand and actually shows you whats going on and what he would be doing with models and pictures. He will repeat himself if needed and always checks up on his patients to make sure they are doing well after their procedure and even gives his personal number in case of an emergency. He is patient and understanding about your situation and doesn’t push for procedures just to make money. He tells you what should be priority in his opinion as the doctor and then lets you make the final decision. The receptionist always confirms your appointments few days before and she is always willing to work something out if there are no appointments available that match your schedule. I definitely recommend him and have referred him to almost everyone that i know. You will not regret choosing him as your dentist… guarantee it.

I recommend this practice. Dr. Kong is a true professional. Also, Dr. Moon, who works there is lovely. All very friendly people. And of course Donna on Reception (although she is on maternity leave — please come back Donna!) is very good at her job and very sweet. We miss her!
