Join us as we explore the backcountry of the Florida Keys and Everglades National Park under sail. Glide over calm bays, paddle through overhung tunnels, snorkel the fringes of the mangroves and marvel at the underwater forests that are as enchanting and haunting as those in any fairy tale. When the cold fronts make exploring the Atlantic Ocean reefs impossible, we can enjoy the calm waters of the backcountry. Help with fish population research by learning how to identify the many species of local fish and participating in a fish count. Your captain will explain why mangroves, grasses and hardpan are all vital to the health of the local ecosystems. We want to share all the beauty this area has to offer and show how we can be good stewards of the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary, preserving its unique habitats for generations to come. And most importantly, we can have a blast doing it!
History
Established in 2014.
Captains Steve Harris and Harold Ochstein have been sailing in the Keys for over 50 combined years and have an strong feelings about the natural beauty of the Keys and the need to preserve and respect our natural environment. In the summertime they run the Boy Scouts of America Eco Adventure teaching teens how to be good stewards of our area. They bring the same enthusiasm to showing their winter guests how they can enjoy a fun and at the same time sustainable learning holiday.

Business Owner
Captain Harold Ochstein grew up in the Midwest, where he began sailing on the local lakes when he was 10 years old. He graduated from Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. Harold and Margie learned to dive in Indiana’s limestone quarries. Since the diving is so much better in Florida, they moved south.
After settling in Florida, Harold began purchasing and working on a large variety of power boats and sailboats that he rebuilt, upgraded and then sold. He gained extensive experience on his power boats taking friends and family on sport drift-diving trips, snorkeling trips, and fishing and camping trips throughout Florida and the Keys. He has been chartering in the Keys for the last 7 years and owns Island Dreamer Sailing School. He ran Boy Scouts Eco Adventure program for 5 years in Islamorada, Fl Keys.
