History

Established in 1975.

In Kingman, «the heart» of the longest contiguous stretch of Route 66, lies the Dambar & Steakhouse, a legacy of the hospitality that used to be found all along Route 66, from Chicago to Los Angeles. The Dambar is located at the corner of Route 66 (called Andy Devine as it runs through the city of Kingman) and Stockton Hill Rd. At this famous fork in the road, the Dambar & Steakhouse has provided hometown hospitality and great food to locals as well as travelers alike for more than 30 years. The original structure of the Dambar was built in the 1930’s as a depression-era WPA (Works Progress Administration) project. The building was a gas station during the fifties and a bar in the sixties owned by a construction worker whose wife argued against buying that «damnbar». The name stuck and the Dambar eventually expanded into food service. The Peterson Burge family purchased this local landmark in 1996, remodeled the property and expanded the menu to include the best steaks on Route 66.
