Been trying to come here for months and for the sake of pushing myself to write new reviews I came here! I was in the mood for a sandwich and was nearby so naturally it felt right. Justin F and I came right before the lunch rush and he ordered a burrito while I ordered the New York strip. Nicks Grill itself is in a awkward location, it’s like a timeless block while everything around that strip mall area updates the shops around that block including Nicks Grill stay the same. The place inside has a diner feel and is pretty retro. The décor varies from memorabilia to a big he man plaque, the service was alright. The guy decided to give me some attitude when I asked if there were any other sides. Not sure if he thought it was funny or was being serious but either way I didn’t appreciate it. The sandwich itself was solid, it was messy but very tasty! The quality of the steak was great and I enjoyed it even though it fell apart in my hands. My buddy said his burrito was a little dry and didn’t have enough meat but I can’t verify that. I’ll come back again to try the«best burger on the eastside.»

I had the combo burrito with sour cream and guacamole. It was very tasty. The owner was very friendly. Prices are on the high end. With a drink it was almost $ 18.

You know you’re in for a treat the moment you set eyes on the grill. The burritos were cooking flat on the grill and looked incredible, but I opted for the chicken sandwich which initially attracted me. It was really unique and absolutely loaded with flavor from the Thousand Island /honey mustard sauce. By the second half of the sandwich my taste buds were protesting the strong flavors a bit. But hey, too many chicken sandwiches are boring to complain about excessive flavor :) I think the price was around $ 8, which was a tad surprising given the rather humble environment. But the food quality is high. What made this place really shine was the guy behind the counter. He was incredibly welcoming and just made me feel glad to be there. And he must have great taste because he had Goonies playing on the TV, which elevated my experience into something magical. I could almost imagine myself grabbing an informal bite to eat in Astoria, Oregon(where the Goonies was filmed.) Great first experience… I’m coming back to try those burritos!

TLDR: old school grill, extremely average, expensive for what it what it was Had the burger, and the New York strip steak sandwich– both very simple. Everyone was nice and chatty, and I got quizzed on my movie knowledge.

We were introduced to Nick’s by our friends last month. Since then, we’ve had the grade veggie burrito 5 times and haven’t been disappointed even once. The flavors are pleasantly different from other Mexican joints we’ve been to and the quantity is just right for 2 adults to share.

I love everything about Nick’s. I’m a child of the 80’s and the décor is wall to wall 1980’s nostalgia(in a good way). They even had Stand by Me playing on the TV. The service was excellent. I love that you can watch them make your food. The burrito was really good — it’s not traditional/authentic Mexican(they serve burgers, if that’s a hint); but, it’s not trying to be. It’s just good… really good.

Nick’s Grill never fails to impress! Great food, good people, always a pleasure to dine in. The potato salad is divine and the grilled ham and cheese is ooey-gooey and to die for!

Friendly employees and tasty food. I recommend their hamburgers. Everyone raves about their burritos but for me, it was their hamburger that kept me coming back. Thank you.

The Combo Burrito(chicken and steak) is the best burrito on the east-side. Add avocado and sour cream for the optimal experience. The Burger is a great choice too. Nothing fancy, just quality ingredients and consistent delivery. Add avocado and an egg for optimal tastiness.

Great food. The burritos are amazing… freshly cooked black beans(no filmy residue like beans from a can), long rice, fresh pico de gallo, real avocados(not store bought paste), and amazing chicken. They normally serve beer but I went on a Tuesday and they weren’t getting a delivery until Wednesday, so if you want a beer with your burrito or burger, go on Wednesday.

In honor of Unilocal’s Compliment Day this place is amazing! All of us over at Waxing the City eat there burritos almost daily… they have the coolest New York Deli Ambiance. Chicken and Steak are amazing. Hamburgers and potato salad; also delicious!

This is one of the first places we tried when we moved to Kirkland 4 years ago. I blame the burritos as the reason we became regulars at Nick’s Grill. Kiki’s friendly attitude(the owner) was also a big plus. But back to the burritos… they are delicious and it makes me sad when I’m done eating them.

Don’t get me wrong, this place has the BEST Burgers around! Unfortunately, it’s been hit or miss on whether they actually have any burgers to sell! Will I be back? Yes, but make sure and call first, if your craving a good burger!

Solid lunch spot. Not the place to come if you’re on a diet since the portions are good and everything is fried for the most part. I’m not a huge fan of tex mex to begin with so my review should be taken with a grain of salt. The Italian Sub is pretty good. Kind of oily but a lot of good flavor with their original sauce. I’ll be trying more but like I said solid lunch spot considering I’m not a huge fan of tex mex.

Best burrito(and huge) I have had in a long time! We just moved from California, my Mexican food standards our high. Plus, it’s regional to get a huge burrito. It was so fabulous, I am going to be a regular!

Breakdown of Score: Taste: 5 Stars Quality of Ingredients: 5 Stars Cost/Portion Size: 4 Stars Customer Service: 5 Stars Explanation of Scores: Taste: — Great food. Yummy. Enough said :) Quality of Ingredients: — We’ve never had any issues with him using not fresh ingredients in over 50 visits. Cost/Portion Size: — For the type of restaurant it is, isn’t the cheapest. But honestly he is always so friendly it more than makes up for this. Customer Service: — Fantastic. He is very friendly, memorized our names and orders by about the 3rd time we came in, always willing to chat if desired, etc. Other comments: — In a perfect world, longer weekend hours would be nice.

Wait, how could anyone give this place five stars?! OK, first off, the food’s not bad at Nick’s. It’s also nothing to write home about, either. Typical greasy spoon fare. With the Brown Bag Café right across the street doing it infinitely better, you can do tastier, a few feet away, for less money. The décor is kitch, and I liked that. But the décor was dirty dusty grimy kitch, and that’s a crime. If you’re going to decorate with classic movie posters, Mousekateer memorabilia, vinyl album covers, and Aperture Science stickers… you’ve got to treat them like idols in a shrine, not grease spattered dust-catchers. Cleanliness is really where Nick’s loses it for me. The place needs the full Silkwood. There’s even a broken window screen to let in vermin. The staff was super friendly, but no amount of charm can polish this nostalgic turd. Go across the street to Brown Bag Café, you’ll be happier, and probably safer.

This is a nostalgic, 50’s diner inspired, hole-in-the-wall spot that does a simple menu, but does it well. It’s easy to miss this place on the side of a 7-Eleven and at the tail end of an older strip mall. The owner himself is usually working, and is more than willing than to chop it up with you if you’re sitting at the counter. The owner and the rest of the staff have great customer service. I’ve had the burritos and they’re good, but what keeps me coming back is the chicken sandwich. It’s hot, covered in melted cheese, messy, and delicious. They use good fresh chunks of chicken. I love the honey mustard sauce on it and the tapitio on the tables balances great with the sweetness of the sauce. I usually rock with the small green salad and potato salad for my sides. The potato salad tastes home made along with the dressing for the salad. The price of admission here is you will need to wash your hands after your meal, but it is worth it.
